A Question For Brian Moran

By Greg L | 24 August 2007 | Illegal Aliens, Virginia Politics | 16 Comments

I just posted this question for House Democratic Caucus Chairman Brian Moran, over at VB Dems where he will be live-blogging at 3PM. I wonder how he’ll answer this:

Delegate Moran:

Thanks for being with us today.

Governor Kaine has the authority to join the Commonwealth in the Section 287(g) Program which would allow the State Police and Department of Corrections to process for deportation criminal illegal aliens rather than release them back into our communities. The result of not having this program now is that there is a significant fraction of those listed on the Virginia Sex Offender Registry and residing in the state who could have been deported has the Commonwealth been participating in the program.

Would you join me in calling for the Governor to exercise the authority he has to enroll Virginia in this program tomorrow?

If he won’t join us, you sure can by signing the petition.

    Bruce,

As I responded to this question at the blogging conference, I support legislation as evidenced by my vote last year that would allow for deportation of illegal immigrants convicted of crimes. If an illegal immigrant comes in contact with law enforcement officers, having committed a criminal offense, it is appropriate for the state to take action. As a member of the State Crime Commission, I attended Sen. Stolle’s subcommittee hearing looking into this issue. The lawyers testified that federal laws have pre-empted state action in regards to employer sanctions and when law enforcement encounters an illegal immigrant. I look forward to continuing to investigate this issue to determine how the state can legally respond within the constrictions of federal law.

    - Brian

So I take it that no, you are not joining with me to call on the Governor to enroll Virginia in the Section 287(g) Program. Is that an accurate statement?

That’s politician speak for stuff it in your ear, we aren’t doing jack. Brian: You’re either part of the solution OR you are part of the problem.

Is this man so incompetent that he doesn’t know that the 287g program is a Federal tool to help states and localities combat criminal illegal aliens? That it is sanctioned BY the federal government.

This seems to be the pat answer for politicians to do nothing.

It scares me when politicians do not know the law.

Gee, Brian Moran’s voting for deportation of *convicted* criminals sounds an awfully lot like the plan that was in place in NJ which allowed for the thugs there (some of whom were accused, but not *convicted*) to commit the atrocities against 4 young blacks, and some of whom fled to our area, including Virginia. NJ is now reviewing its interpretation of that law. A little late, wouldn’t you say, Mr. Moran?

Sign the petition, people and stay involved. Know what your do-nothing reps are up to and boot ‘em out of office - http://www.petitiononline.com/VA287g/petition.html

It is great that Brian Moran was willing to post on BVBL. I have a question:

Brian, VPAP.org states that Gill and Gallinger partner Asim Ghafoor gave you Redskins (SkySuite?) tickets worth $4800 on 10/1/2006.

As you may know, Gill’s law partner Ghafoor has represented several U.S. Treasury Specially Designated Global Terrorists over the years, including Global Relief International and the Ashland, Oregon office of Al-Haramain.

    (1) Can you give us any hint about what if anything you two discussed in the Skysuite at the 10/1/2006 Redskin game?

    (2) Was HOD-51 Republican candidate Faisal Gill there?

I left out the link showing Gill and Gallinger partner Asim Ghafoor’s $4800 personal gift to Del. Brian Moran:

    http://vpap.org/donors/results_level3.cfm?fmkey=INP000298665&tokey=COM00090&Year=2006

Maybe accepting gifts from lawyer/spokespersons for Specially Designated Global Terrorists, and then refusing to discuss it and attempting to stonewall, isn’t such a good idea for aspiring Virginia governors like Brian Moran.

In my view the question of what went on up there in the Skysuite on 10/1/2006, what people discussed with Ghafoor, is not going to go away. Brian Moran is going to have to deal with this and come clean. Otherwise he won’t be governor.

A great report on the results of the use of 287g in Florida and Alabama by Professor of Law korbach (AL)

Please note the paragraph in the Prof. Korbach’s report on the use of 287g in gang and the apparent fact that most gang members are illegal aliens, contrary to many people’s assertions

Is this Del. Brian Moran related to the rabid nutcase, Jim Moran?

  13. Legal2 said on 24 Aug 2007 at 10:15 pm: Flag comment

According to Wikipedia, Brian is Jim’s younger bro.

    Imagine that…

I applaud your coming on this blog (however briefly it may have been), but we don’t need nor do we want another Jim Moran to work for the corporate elites while the middle class gets the shaft. We want nothing to do with you until you are serious about illegal immigration, its effects, and enforcing laws. I know things look all cushy to you in your palace in Mclean, Alexandria, Fairfax or whatever wealthy enclave it is that you hang your hat, but here in Manassas, PW County and Manassas Park we need immediate relief.
