Rack N’ Roll billiards club owner David Ruttenberg said he has never had a problem with Hispanics frequenting his place of business.

In fact, Ruttenberg’s menus at the Manassas Park establishment are in both English and Spanish.

But with the recent boycott of some Prince William County businesses by some in the immigrant community, Ruttenberg has taken his own stand. As long as that segment of society boycotts his place, he will let anyone play pool for free if they mention the anti-illegal immigration group Help Save Manassas.

Ruttenberg called the immigrants’ decision a “bullying move,” and respects groups like Help Save Manassas for their lack of apathy and desire to make changes at the local level.

“[The boycott] is not building relationships, it’s not bonding with the community,” Ruttenberg said. “If you came here illegally, the last thing you should be doing is throwing your weight around.”

“The only folks this boycott seems to be affecting were the small businesses that went out of their way to accommodate the immigrant community,” added Help Save Manassas president Greg Letiecq in an e-mail.

Woodbridge Workers Committee spokesperson Nancy Lyall, a strong advocate of the boycott, said Ruttenberg’s decision won’t affect the committee and that everyone has a right to express an opinion in different ways.

“It’s just interesting how people react the way they react and have to validate their viewpoints the way that they do,” Lyall said of Ruttenberg’s decision.

Ruttenberg said he could use more business since the raid on his place in 2004 by ABC officials which ultimately led to the removal of his liquor license. He also said his business was negatively affected after Prince William County passed its controversial resolution aiming to crack down on illegal immigration.

“The boycott is just adding icing to the cake,” Ruttenberg said.

Ruttenberg is in the process of selling his establishment but in the meantime hopes that people will take advantage of this deal.

The boycott is scheduled to end on Labor Day.

“I thought it would be nice to do, it’s kind of empty in here,” Ruttenberg said.

Ruttenberg said his decision to do this has everything to do with the influx of illegal immigrants in the community and nothing to do with sticking it to Manassas Park, which he is currently in a legal battle with over incidents that occurred in 2004. Also, he said it has nothing to do with the recent heated exchanges between Letiecq and Manassas Park government officials in regards to the city’s illegal immigration policy.

In the last week, city officials have lashed out at Help Save Manassas and responded to critical comments from Letiecq, who has shown public sympathy for Ruttenberg’s situation, as well as labeled Manassas Park a sanctuary for illegal immigrants on his personal blog bvbl.net.

“I don’t think [the boycott] is useful or productive and it doesn’t matter much what jurisdiction I am in,” Ruttenberg said.

We need to get the SB to undo the multiculture or at least look at what is being taught.

Also since Lyall gives all types of legal advice to the Illegal Aliens is she a qulified attorney? And why doesn’t she use her energy helping these people to be honest and steer them in a better direction??
