NLS: Jeanette Rishell Is Pathetic

By Greg L | 6 September 2007 | Jeanette Rishell | 25 Comments

I took a moment to go to Jeanette Rishell’s press conference today, and it was pretty much the predictable “we despise the Klan” event that it should have been. No politics, no throwing rocks, just a number of people predictably saying that they oppose the Klan, which surprises no one, especially Not Larry Sabato.

Here’s Not Larry Sabato an interesting take on this delayed exercise in political correctness:

This is silly for three reasons. One, the incident happened last weekend, the Post has already reported on itTwo, it isn’t exactly breaking news that the DPVA and Rishell both oppose the KKK.  Three, and this is the most embarrassing- it took you guys almost 100 hours longer than BVBL to condemn the Klan.  Pathetic.

Let’s see how News Channel 8 and the Washington Post, which were the only media outlets that attended this press conference, cover this.  Will they make this into breaking news?

Has Jackson Miller issued a condemnation?

Now - will they denounce a REAL racist facist organization? La Raza.

“Has Jackson Miller issued a condemnation?”

Does he have to? The fact that Rishell posts 72 hours after the newscycle has run its course, does this require Miller to issue a condemnation?

Anonymous, call the PWC Police and ask the desk Sergeant where Delegate Miller was during this period. You will be told that he was on-duty, patrolling our streets, keeping us safe from criminals, illegal aliens, and the KKK. What was Rishell doing? She was holding press conferences. OOOOHHHH! I am sue the KKK in Arkansas is holding a meeting right this very minute, trying to figure out how to respond to Rishell’s comments.

Idiot. Don’t you realize how inept Rishell and the illegal alien lobby look right now. HSM, the PWC BCOS and those politicians who favor cracking down on illegals were in front of this story from the get-go. You can’t hold a press conference 72 hours after the close of the news cycle and say ‘me too” and expect it to be effective.

No, but you’ve been very critical of Rishell for waiting 72 hours to issue a response to the KKK’s activities. I’m just curious as to why Jackson Miller has not done the same. Seems like something he should do.

    Anonymous,

I don’t think NSL, Batson and Greg were criticizing Rishell for condemning the KKK, but rather the way she did it: several days too late at a press conference. It was amateurish. If she wants to condemn the KKK, do it immediately. Waiting several days just ensures that you won’t get whatever publicity you were hoping to get from this event.

It was the execution, not the idea, that was stupid.

Jackson Miller already issued his condemnation of this to the press. I don’t see how repeating his comments is going to make any difference, other than to keep folks talking about the KKK.

They’re stupid, misguided, and probably evil. They deserve a thirty second dismissal as a bunch of kooks, and that’s about it. At some point this starts to look like promotion.

I saw the piece on channel 8 this evening. Richell thought that Jackson Miller needed to come out and opose the KKK publicly. They were at a Church and it looked like the Unitarian(sp) Church in Old Town. Not sure. She is grasping.

According to the post on Raising Kaine, the thing was held at the Old Town Courthouse.

I read Jackson’s comments in the paper the other day about the KKK in the wapo. I thought they were pretty condeming. I think it was in the Gainesville Times on yesterday or tuesday.

Anonymous @ 9:17 pm. Could you please provide a link to that Post article? I can’t find that article when I do a search.

Oops. I misread. I certainly couldn’t find it in the Post.

However, I’ve looked in the Post, the Gainesville Times, the Potomac News and the Manassas Journal Messenger, and I haven’t seen a single word from Jackson Miller condemning KKK activity your area. I really think he needs to make some kind of condemnation statement as Rishell did. And, contrary to Batson D. Belfrey (Isn’t that cute?) statements about Miller’s patrolling the streets, I imagine there are lots of folk in PWC that did not realize Miller was a part-time police officer — not that that makes any statement about the KKK. He stays pretty busy, I guess, as a delegate, real estate agent and part-time police officer.

Are you implying, Anonymous, that only stay-at-home Moms, retirees, and the independently wealthy are qualified to run for office?

Stop picking on Jackson Miller. He is busy patrolling my neighborhood and I appreciate him. He knows firsthand the problems that we have in this area and that’s why I will vote for him. Jeanette Rishell lives in Manassas Park. Has she done anything to help Manassas Park with the overwhelming problem of illegal aliens? Take a drive in Manassas Park before you answer.

Check the Gainesville times 09/05/07. Miller calls the KKK a “fringe terrorist organization” Stop spreading the lies please.

Perhaps that is why she is running for the 50th District delegate’s seat.

“Are you implying, Anonymous, that only stay-at-home Moms, retirees, and the independently wealthy are qualified to run for office?”

No, but he certainly can’t be a police officer all of the time, protecting us from illegal aliens and criminals if he’s also a delegate and a real estate agent. So, I think he needs to make a verbal statement as to how he feels about the KKK infiltrating our neighborhoods.

Hey Patty, I dont know if Rishell has done anything to help Manassas Parks overcrowding.

I do know that she has spoken out against the City of Manassas’s attempts to address overcrowding. She joined the Woodbridge Workers Committee, Mexicans without Borders, and Unity in the Community and spoke out against the City’s attempts to combat overcrowding about 2 years ago.

The kicker - she dosent even live in the City of Manassas. She asked for extra time and spoke longer than all of the other protesters that were from everywhere but the City of Manassas.

Jackson Miller is doing a GREAT job for those of us here in WestGate/Sudley. We’ve had a couple of stolen cars that have been parked in our neighborhood, Jackson Miller has been the ONE and ONLY ONE to do anything about this. These cars were towed away within a half an hour of him finding them. We never really talked about the STOLEN CARS here before. They’ve been popping up around here. I and others do NOT want our streets to become a parking lot for stolen cars. This is a serious crime, and will not be tolerated. I look forward to my Jackson Miller sign arriving tomorrow.
Thank you Jackson for ALL you do!!!!
People in the Park don’t be FOOLED, by the fact Jeanett Rishell lives in the Park.
We NEED and DESERVE Mr. Jackson Miller!

    Laf - AMEN to that!

Jeanette lives in Blooms Crossing, which is in the City of Manassas Park.
Remember, Jackson represents folks from all three jurisdictions!! The two cities, and small portion of PWC, Loch Lomond, Yorkshire, WestGate/Sudley. We are very lucky to have Jackson. Jeanette was over here darkening doors, Tuesday night. The PWC residents are the smallest portion of his constituents.

Are you referring to the line where she compared the KKK to Help Save Manassas??? If so, I think you are SADLY mistaken!!!

Did she really compare the KKK to HSM? What exactly did she say?

Interesting that Rishell carried Manassas Park last November, and missed PWC (which cast 1/3 of the votes) by 11 votes.

We just received a mailer from “friends of Jeanette Rishell”.

It is titled Three card Jackson.

While they claim Jackson has not done anything about illegal immigration, the reality says otherwise. They complain he missed or was late for 25% of the Manassas City Council meetings in 2006. They complain he voted himself a raise in Richmond, and supported development that benefited himself.

Wow, what a sad piece of political literature.

I guess that is why it is from “Friends” and not reality.
