Jackson Miller’s Breakfast Blowout

By Greg L | 12 September 2007 | 50th HOD District | 22 Comments

Jackson Miller had a strong campaign event this morning at the City Tavern in Old Town Manassas today.  Not too many people usually show up for a breakfast, but attendance was about double projections and I saw about 60 people in the room.  As the crowd flowed in, not only did they have to start setting up additional tables, but the food ran out and the kitchen had to quickly whip up a whole new batch.  I get the impression this was a pretty successful event, with one attendee actually picking up the entire tab for the room and the food.

That attendee was actually one of Jeanette Rishell’s former co-workers at Carteret Mortgage.  I guess some of those who have worked with her in the past have something to say about how good a job she’d do representing the 50th District.  Another attendee was wearing stickers complaining about President Bush and the Iraq war.  His car was festooned with bumper stickers for every Democrat in the District, except one.  In it’s place was a Jackson Miller bumper sticker.

Jackson has strong support in this district, and I’ve spoken with a number of area Democrats who are supporting Jackson Miller.  With this kind of erosion of support from those within her party, I’d say Jeanette Rishell is going to have to work really, really hard in order to even maintain her margin of defeat in the last election.

I’m voting for Jackson Miller. He really knows first hand the problems we face every single day. He wants to do something about them. Go Jackson!

I would imagine that once Rishell’s fundraising for Mexicanos Sin Fronteras and the WWC and her opposition to Manassas participating in 287g gets our there, there will be even more erosion.

I also attended the breakfast, and thought it went really well. I would say based on who showed up(Greg did not list everyone of note) Jackson does in fact have support from both sides of the aisle.

I would have attended also but I had to stay home and wait for the Comcast guy who NEVER showed up. However, I will be making campaign calls on his behalf tomorrow. :)

Has anyone been to Jackson Miller’s web site: http://www.miller4delegate.com/home/? It doesn’t appear to be functioning properly. I wanted to contact him about where is my sign. My wife thought we should have had it a week or so ago. If anyone (maybe Layfayette?) can help get me get his and Stewart’s, and Stirrup’s, I would appreciate it greatly.

Put a fork in it. This one is over. She can win in San Francisco, but this ain’t the left coast. Save the campaign money

Don’t you dare get complacent. Rishell is campaigning full time, and has outraised Jackson Miller in the past few finance reports. We need to work to help get Jackson Miller re-elected, not sit on our butt and assume he’s going to coast to victory.
