Nothing for traffic huh? How about bringing a few hundred thousand dollars to his district for transportation. And what’s wrong with not wanting to hike up my taxes to pay for something that the state already has the money for? I respect him incredibly because he actually has kept his promise to me since the first time I met him-if Richmond can’t take care of my money and spend it wisely, then why should they keep getting more?

As far as your comments on the builder/proffer situation, first off-the vast majority of that is controlled by the county, quit trying to confuse the voters by telling them he’s not doing anything when he didn’t have the power to do it in the first place-such a democrat. Second, he has stopped builders from building more and more homes everywhere because the roads can’t handle all the people. People with common sense understand that just because you build houses for people to move into (and then can’t move out because of the taxes that are laid upon them-and those are the taxes the Frederick voted against), doesn’t mean that all other problems will go away. In fact it makes the problem worse.

Frederick has done something that very few legislators have done and that is believe that a problem can be fixed without just throwing more money at it. My taxes shouldn’t be sent to Richmond for politicians to decide where it’s spent-they should listen to the voters and recognize where they want their money placed.

Frederick knows nothing about being a conservative. He is as big a Liberal as there ever was. Saying you oppose taxes or increases does not make you a conservative. True conservatives say pay as you go and everyone pays the same amount for thier impact. Frederick supports the 30 year failure of Proffers. Frederick wants you to belive that someone else ( builder) is going to pay the 30 to 40K on each house and not pass it on to you. He wants to builder to get the tax deduction and cheat the home buyer out of the tax deduction plus make them pay at least 2% more in interest on that amount. He is a good lier but when he first ran for office he was asked what he thought of the Dillon Rule in VA. His reply was what is that ????? Keep on electing him and you will get what he has done in the pass and that is NOTHING ACCOMPLISHED to solve traffic in N VA…..

I find it funny that the democrats are so bent on trying to accuse Frederick of actually helping those in need. Democrats love to say that a reduction in budget increases is a “cut.” It’s not, try taking ECON 101.

But more importantly, I also find it ironic that while Frederick as many others believe that a flat tax actually helps those that are less fortunate. Democrats believe that free hand outs are a right and that they advocate keeping a “lower class” because they can then syphon off supporters. The flat tax allows everyone to pay what they owe and nothing more, actually being reimbursed if too much was paid.

If Chris Brown and his campaign want to try and make Frederick look like the bad guy, ummmmm take a little drive up and down Rt. 1 and you’ll see what all of Brown’s “campaign coffer stockers” hard at work. I enjoy my green space and I WOULD enjoy actually going 10 miles up the road and not taking 30 min…but thank you Chris Brown for once again proving that you are incapable of actually “representing” those of us here in PWC.

Now, if the man could actually come out on an issue instead of floundering around with political rhetoric…Frederick actually talks on the issues and doesn’t sit around waiting for the DPVA to hold his hand and tell him what to say and when…try thinking for yourself once in a while-unless you have nothing intelligent to say.

Your short response to my post seems calculated to minimize the impact of my statements. You have accused me of plagiarism, or mass posting of a canned political message. I can assure you that neither charge is true, and challenge you to produce this word-for-word posting from an earlier date. I’m not a political junkie, and couldn’t tell the difference between James Young and Neil Young! Since James has posted to this thread, maybe he can speak to the accuracy of your charge that I lifted his words.

Faisal’s stance on illegal aliens? I am in no way affiliated with his campaign, so my interpretation wouldn’t give you the best picture. Surely you would want info from a direct source, and would not rely on random musings from a blog as factual representation.

If my main concern is immigration, I would hope that the candidate is knowledgeable about our laws on the federal, state, and local levels. He should know what works and what doesn’t, and be cognizant of the so-called loopholes. (BTW, one way to identify and correct deficiencies in the law is to test it in court. If the outcome of a court battle brings forth a judgment that is not in the public interest, then the language or application of the law should be reviewed. The attorney can strengthen the law by exposing “loopholes”) I would not vote for someone who comes in with a blueprint, and an attitude that it is not subject to revision.

A successful immigration attorney would seem to fill that bill.

This thread arose from the original post about lamentable smear campaigns. It has degraded to an online mudfight, with opposing contributers trying to one-up each other with accusations and half truths. As evidenced by the Potomac News editorial, many people are fed up. Some on this site are apparently still in favor of inaccurate negative campaigns, as long as they are waged against the opposition.

Is that your position? Do you want someone to overestimate your value, undervalue the contribution of others, and divide the community?

A successful divorce lawyer can make that happen.

As you can see, it is very easy to generalize and paint a picture based on associations. It’s also easy to edit facts and portrayals to manipulate meaning or intent. Candidates and bloggers use these techniques to divert attention from the weakness of their own positions.

Both these guys appear to be moderate, and niether has a criminal record. If that’s the case, I’ll be voting for the one that tells me his ideas without sacrificing his ideals.

I’m not gonna start a lengthy discussion on this blog but, please either read the legislation (HR 25), read Linder and Boortz’s book, or go to FairTax.org . There is a wealth of knowledge and information there and an extensive FAQ section. It is better to be informed then to spew the talking points of the opposition. Who, by the way, have been debunked time and time again.

FYI, the Fair Tax does NOT penalize the poor because they are refunded any tax that they may pay. Granted, I think this makes it a bit more complicated than need be (which is why I support a 15 percent flat tax on families of four making more than $40,000 per year — anything less than that and you are exempt.)

I am on this site and contribute due to only to HSM’s mission. I will admit, I’m finding that more and more difficult to cull through the nastiness…!!

I don’t love paying taxes anymore than the next guy. I am for a flat tax - corporate as well. Actually, if corporations licensed to do business in the USA paid a flat 10%, you and I would probably not have to pay taxes - and we’d probable all have free health care or at least free cable TV.

Taxes like this should be temporary fixes for a problem. That way there is no scramble and more accountability.

Where is the evidence of him saying that?? Not elimination of the BPOL tax, but that he had no ideas?? Just out of curiosity?
