A reader referenced this video in one of the comment threads, and it’s too good to leave buried there. Now, for your viewing pleasure, may I present to you a video showing just who crossed the border, risking life and limb, in the searing heat, and who honor one flag and one flag only…

Out in the Open on CNN tonight is covering the poor illegals who are getting deported from Irving, TX.
Let’s regain quality of life in our neighborhoods so the brave men & women in uniform have something left of what they are fighting for.
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!!!!!!
Propaganda. I rarely post on this site, but when reading the comments and seeing this video link [which I had seen before] I knew what was to come.
Tom C - Tom Communist
TOM C -
Give me a break - it’s not propaganda - just the TRUTH! You sound like an arogant and ungrateful fool. Our troops keep your back side free so you can spout your nonsense! You should be thanking them or move on out!
All of this is true. We just have to ask ourselves one important question: Who attacked us on 9/11? It surely wasn’t so dam insane! We lost complete focus on bin laden going into bagdad. How many more need to die before the absolute truth of corruption is revealed. It should be more than obvious that our soldiers are pawns being used to secure that region in order to build wealth for the kickbacks of Haliburton and other contracting companies. I know, since I worked closely in that area.
Also must be said that some soldiers are still working on American Citizenship since my friends the recruiters need to build the numbers to replace the fallen. So just be careful about the people who come here with nothing to go there and fight and to keep us safe.
Tom C. must be associated with Krutis and Leila. Liberal socialist, communist, marxist, reconquista, etc. agenda pushers!
“Tom Communist”. How cute.
ManassasResident. *I’m* arrogant? 0_o
Disgusted Veteran, good comment.
This Film is absolutlely Great. We need more of this being shown in our country, schools, and even at the BOS meetings.
Maybe then all will get the message that we have a Great Country and WE THE
PEOPLE NEED TO PROTECT IT HERE AND NOW. We can not wait as we become overwhelmed with all the filth.
OUR SERVICE MEN NEED TO HAVE A CLEAN,QUALITY OF LIFE TO COME HOME TO.
So do your part and rally behind HSM, as it will help SAVE all of us.
Cheers to the Disgusted Veteran.
My brother is in the Army and is currently serving his second tour in Iraq. He is a SGT with ten years in. He is very much a patriot and is a willing servant for his country, however, with all the cry for more money for transportation, tax cuts for the rich etc., I very seldom hear any outrage concerning how little we pay our sons and daughters that choose to serve this country. I may be a low paid teacher, but my brother earns only a third of my salary when he receives his combat pay!!!! Ten years service to our country and he, his wife and three children still qualify for WIC. And don’t think that the Army clothes their soldiers…they don’t. My brother pays for his uniforms, his boots, and all insignia. When the boots he purchased in Oct 2006 began to fall apart by April 2007, he contacted my mom and begged her to buy him a new pair. He and his wife could not readily afford the boots he required as they are specially made SWAT boots, and his foot width required a special order. Prior to returning for his second tour, my brother decided that it was in his best interest to purchase a more high quality set of body armor than the army was able to provide him. This purchase was far from cheap. For xmas he asked family members to buy him NOMEX fire retardant underclothes, gloves and head covering. Nomex t-shirts go for 75 dollars a pop. Yet the NOMEX can protect a soldier from serious burns. Additionally, if a service member chooses to have their own email address via yahoo(the only provider) while in Iraq, the cost is 89.99 per month, three months in advance. And the soldier must have their own laptop and required cords. Fortunately for my brother, he has family members that can help him with these costs. But what of the soldiers that do not have this kind of support? Oh and for those ofy you that are wondering…yes his family lives on base. Some may look at this as free rent, but in NCO housing, soldiers are responsible for purchasing/replacing all appliances.
ateacher, did you see this story?
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (NBC) — When they came home from Iraq, 2,600 members of the Minnesota National Guard had been deployed longer than any other ground combat unit. The tour lasted 22 months and had been extended as part of President Bush’s surge.
1st Lt. Jon Anderson said he never expected to come home to this: A government refusing to pay education benefits he says he should have earned under the GI bill.
“It’s pretty much a slap in the face,” Anderson said. “I think it was a scheme to save money, personally. I think it was a leadership failure by the senior Washington leadership… once again failing the soldiers.”
Anderson’s orders, and the orders of 1,161 other Minnesota guard members, were written for 729 days.
Had they been written for 730 days, just one day more, the soldiers would receive those benefits to pay for school.
“Which would be allowing the soldiers an extra $500 to $800 a month,” Anderson said.

So then I ask..where is the outrage? Where is the truth? Where are those we elected? Who actually cares?
I know. That’s why Joe Galloway’s outraged.
Ateacher,
Are you telling me that if a soldier is living in base housing and the stove breaks, through no fault or negligence of himself or any of his dependents, he is responsible for paying for it?
My husband is a Marine, he has been a Marine for 18 years. I have never heard of that. I think your brother has greatly misunderstood something.
Also, your brother, as an enlisted soldier, receives a clothing allowance which he should use to purchase his uniform. The army gives him $529.20 each year to maintain his uniform.
You stated that your brother, when he receives “combat pay” only receives 1/3 of your teacher salary.
Let’s see, as a Sgt with 10 years in, his base salary is $2552 per month. If he is deployed to a combat zone, he also receives $100 per month in hardship duty pay, $225 in imminent danger/hostile fire pay, and $250 in family separation pay–for a total of $3127 (TAX FREE!!!!) per month…this is, of course, in addition to the “rent free and utility payment free” housing his spouse and children are occupying. His family could choose to live off base and receive a housing allowance, which varies by area. If he was stationed in this area, his housing allowance would be an aditional $1326 per month…
So essentially that would be a grand total of $4453 (TAX FREE!) per month…
And as a teacher, you earn triple that? $13, 359 per month? Over $160,000 per year? Wow! I had no idea teachers were so highly paid. Wonderful!
Don’t get me wrong, I am in no way suggesting that our military is overpaid, or does not earn every penny they get. As I said, my own husband is a Marine of over 18 years, and I fully appreciate and understand the sacrifices that military members and their families make. But please, do not grossly exagerate how meager military salaries are. It does proud service members a great disservice.
Hmmm…so I’ve done my brothers taxes for the past 4 years, and he pays nothing. His t-giving dinner comes from the largess of operation turkey. Formula for his son is due to WIC, so I guess marine wife that you, like my mother, are married to an officer. Would you like to claim this is false so that you may think your husband is a better mann than he actually is? I and my brother have grown up on bases and we know and recog bithches like you…officers wives who deign to think they speak for us. Stupid, vapid girls that marry officers and then sadlythink they actually possess a knowledge of the world. Silly girls with neither a career nor a grad degree. Marine wife..you make me laugh.
Ateacher,
Wow….with the spelling, language, and prejudice in the above post, you are responsible for educating our young? At over $160,000/year? Our nation is in worse trouble than I thought.
And I’ll change my name, just for you!
ateacher, I’m not a military wife, but I have a friend who was, until her husband, an enlisted guy, retired after 20 years of service a couple of years ago. My friend said they just had barely enough to get by. They had three children and lived in a tiny house in Woodbridge at the time.
I have no idea what financial benefits that family received, but I can tell you they lived frugally. It was such a relief for them when he retired and began work in the commercial world.
Let me sum up. There are the “phony soldiers”, who are the ones who fight for our rights but don’t agree with the agenda.
Then, there are the citizens who should *just move out* of the country because they have an opinion different than others.
Or, there are the communists.
Is that it?
Oh, no. I missed this one: “Tom C. must be associated with Krutis and Leila. Liberal socialist, communist, marxist, reconquista, etc. agenda pushers!”
I don’t really know what that means, but I guess “the patriot” does. So, please explain, if you don’t mind. What exactly do you mean, ‘The Patriot”?
Tom, I doubt Patriot knows what he means either. He has a quaint animist belief in the power of such lists, whether or not the lists make any sense. He likes to apply them to anyone who disagrees with him, regardless of whether they apply. This is just part of his tool kit (I use the term loosely) along with his assertions that opponents are illegal aliens, are not assimilated Americans, and need to leave the country.
He couldn’t find one place on this blog where I have advocated any sort of reconquista. His phrase “liberal socialist” creates a question. Did he mean to put a comma? He doesn’t appear to have enough knowledge of political philosophy to realize that some of the categories he lists directly contradict one another. In the end, one just supposes the Patriot has grown confused after all those long hours on the road on his Patriot Patrol (TM). Perhaps its the gas fumes or that mesmerizing asphalt.
Mustang, thanks for setting the record straight.
The bottom line is, it is extremely difficult for a family of five to live on $50,000 a year in this area. A second income is necessary to live at a comfort level. Military pay for those who are enlisted is historically low and non-competitive.
Ateacher, you exaggerated and got called on it. No need to get so nasty. You more or less got what you deserved in return. You do need to do more with paragraphing, grammar, and all those niceties if you are going to represent your profession with your moniker. The public demands better written communication out of teachers than what you are displaying in your posts.
Leila, Tom C….no….I meant what I said (as is).
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!!!!!!!!!
Leila, Tom C., ateacher,
You demonstrate precisely what makes this country great; the ability to voice your opinion even in the eyes of those that chastise you for your beliefs. Each member of our Armed Forces owes a great deal of gratitude to people such as yourselves. It is always easy to go along with the majority of viewpoints that portray us marching off cliffs to prove our loyalty to this great country….fortunately, we don’t have Napolean as general.
Keep up the good work,
DV
Oh so anon…last year my brother earned 37,500, that was without any combat pay since he was stateside at the time. Yes my brother got a return on the fed taxes they paid via EIC for their children. If the military does so well paying their soldiers, why then does FT Hood have Head Start upon their base? Why do so many soldiers’ families qualify for WIC? Operation turkey etc? And MUSTANG Marine wife..didn’t you get it? The Army is the biggest employer of LD and under-educated individuals. Get the mispellings? They were satire…hello..or as my brother would write…hell.
PS screw ever getting to 50K, as a SGT it won’t happen any time soon.
ateacher,
You were the one who wrote that ” I may be a low paid teacher, but my brother earns only a third of my salary when he receives his combat pay!!!!”
So why are you coming back now and saying he doesn’t earn so much because he didn’t get combat pay because he wasn’t deployed? Which is it?
ateacher -
I’m sorry… but was your brother forced to join the military? Did they take him kicking and screaming? Or did he VOLUNTEER to go into the military?
MUSTANG -
Your arguments are outstanding.
ateacher,
You missed my point. I believe military pay for enlisted personnel is deplorable. However, I don’t believe you are paid 3 times more than your brother. Very few teachers in this area make over $100,000 per year.
My comments on the written communication stand.
A lot of disagreement here, but for good reason. There is different pay for different classifications, as well as different experiences for each individual. Some go into the military and come out loving it, others come out hating it. One size does not fit all anywhere in life, including the military.
