WashPo Blasts Manes Pierre

By Greg L | 5 October 2007 | Prince William County | 30 Comments

Neabsco District School Board candidate Manes Pierre has a pretty colorful employment history, according to today’s edition of the Washington Post:

A Prince William County School Board candidate who formerly taught in county schools verbally abused teachers and students, fabricated allegations of teacher misconduct and violated testing protocol while students were taking state exams, a school system investigation concluded.

This is a guy who school officials won’t allow on school property, yet he’s running for the school board. Among the records obtained by the Washington Post, we find these interesting “qualifications” for office:

At one point in the 2005-06 school year, Pierre accused a married female colleague at Freedom High School of unwanted sexual advances — an allegation that school officials concluded was false. The female teacher and others who worked with Pierre in the English for Speakers of Other Languages program were embittered.

School officials also received reports that Pierre attempted to choke a student and that he punished a female student after she complained he had been staring at her chest, the documents show.

Pierre began work as an ESOL teacher in Prince William in October 2004 at McAuliffe Elementary School in Woodbridge. There, he yelled at students and teachers and attempted to “intimidate his ESOL team members, raising unfounded allegations of misconduct . . . and repeatedly lying to cover up his own behaviors,” school officials concluded.

In April 2005, school investigators found, Pierre violated state testing procedures on a reading exam. A school employee “personally observed Pierre reading the actual test questions to the students and spoke to him about the irregularity, which voided the test results,” according to the documents.

Pierre transferred to Freedom High in Woodbridge the next year. He had trouble with routine tasks at the school, such as recording student attendance data through a computer program, investigators found. In March 2006, a female student told administrators that Pierre “always looked at her breasts and that she had ‘called him on it’ by asking, ‘Why do you look at me like that . . . ?’ ”

The teacher whom Pierre accused of sexual advances “dreaded” coming to work, school investigators found. “She lost sleep and weight over the situation.”

And this guy think he deserves to be elected to the School Board?  Does he really think Neabsco voters are that stupid?

I do not want this person anywhere near my children or making decisions in their education. Unfortunately there can not be laws to prevent a person like this from running for public office. Fortunately the truth is finally coming out in time to inform the Neabsco District of the truth before they vote in November!!!!

I am sure others who are closer to this election can speak as to how to help Julie Lucas in the weeks leading up to the election. Julie needs our support so she can win this election and continue to help the children of Prince William County!!! Neabsco District seat not only represents that district, it makes decision for the whole County.

Wow. It gets worse and worse. Why won’t this scumbag step down? Clearly he has a vendetta against PWCPS - that’s his only goal in being elected.

I worry that the Neabsco District will still like “his kind” and he or the other idiot besides Lucas running for office may still get elected.

So today, we like the Post?

I do not know Mr. Pierre, but Ms. Lucas is an outstanding incumbent and deserves support from all sides of the political spectrum. Her concern is for the children and parents of her district.

It’s too late to take his name of the ballot. Don’t think people haven’t asked him to withdraw from the race.

There was another interesting story in the Post today concerning Prince William County, the housing market and illegal immigration. It can be found at -http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/10/04/AR2007100402253.html

The Democrats should have the decency to remove him from their website. It appears that they have endorsed him, although I seriously doubt they really have.

STOP THE PRESSES!!! The Patriot hijacks yet another thread in the name of important illegal alien news.

Can’t we even try to keep on message for just a little while?

Manes Pierre is a horrible candidate. Clearly, he’s not well-balanced and has an axe to grind with Prince William County Schools. He’s also got a level of paranoia that makes reasonable, rationale decision-making some we just won’t see from him. It’s a good thing for the schools and our children that Julie Lucas was able to get her papers files in time to run for re-election for this seat after the debacle with the convention.

  12. anon said on 5 Oct 2007 at 11:03 am: Flag comment

The Democrats have not endorsed him and will not despite Manes asking for it every chance he gets.

Hey Turn…nobody said that you had to read the entry. I did indicate it was “off topic”!

    Anon,

The Democrats need to remove this guy’s ugly mug from their website. His picture and blurb there imply passive endorsement. I have called headquarters about it and the volunteer didn’t know anything about it.

I am sure the regular candidates do not want to be associated with this malcontent.

Simple solution… donate to Julie, and tell all your friends in Neabsco District to vote for Julie Lucas on Nov 6.

Isn’t it sad that this guy (Manes Pierre) has such a poor record within the school system yet for a while, was perceived as a viable candidate.

An individual’s privacy is one thing, but if it hadn’t been for the “Wash Post’s” investigative reporting, this guy COULD have been elected by unknowing voters. The voters need this kind of information.

I wonder how long it will take for him to get his signs down… :) :)

  18. dolph said on 5 Oct 2007 at 4:11 pm: Flag comment

    Freedom,

He won’t take his signs down. He is arrogant, feels he has been victimized, and sees nothing he has done wrong.

If 3 schools in 3 years, and removal from the system doesn’t send a strong message. a little ole Washington Post article isn’t going to get his or his followers’ attention.

    opditch,

The contribute link on Julie’s website doesn’t work.

    Rick,

His VA teaching license might have been pulled. One can only hope.

  19. dolph said on 5 Oct 2007 at 4:14 pm: Flag comment

Unfortunately, his license was not pulled. It is good until 2010. Esol k-12.

Well I have to say that the Post did a great job getting the truth out about Pierre! The Potomac News didn’t want to touch the subject.
You can also tell that he surrounds himself with great people. In the editorial section of the Potomac News on September 14, Marco Goyos gave him his “vote of confidence”. Goyos was a teacher at Freedom High School who came to this country from Ecuador on a special program just to teach. He was fired after two months and is still living here. Pierre also has this guy on his website in his July 4th galery.

  21. dolph said on 5 Oct 2007 at 9:10 pm: Flag comment

It sounds like Goyos has become an illegal since he is no longer teaching. When does his visa expire? It sounds like Pierre should have been fired after 2 months also.

Perhaps Goyos needs to meet ICE.

    Dolph said…re Manes Pierre

“If 3 schools in 3 years, and removal from the system doesn’t send a strong message. a little ole Washington Post article isn’t going to get his or his followers’ attention.”

…but dolph, most voters don’t monitor the performance of an individual tearcher…don’t know the reasons for transfer (whether disciplinary, need of the school system or convenience of the teacher)…or simply don’t remember what they may have heard about a couple years back. I seem to remember a news article from long ago about Pierre being escorted from the school by the police…but I certainly never knew any details, and I suppose that for his protection, those records were “sealed” from the public.

My point simply is that when a person chooses to enter the political arena as a candidate, they should be required to consent to full disclosure of their employment records…particularly when those records are as a public service employee. There are probably two sides to the issues that Pierre faces, but voters should not be denied access to this information until some newspaper decides to conduct an investigation and print a news article — if the Post had not printed that article, unknowing voters just might have elected this guy and look where we’d be then.

  23. dolph said on 6 Oct 2007 at 7:01 am: Flag comment

    Freedom,

    I agree with you.

I am sure he is going all over Prince William County moaning and groaning about how he has been victimized by the county and how he is Mr. Wonderful. He will never consent to have his personnel records released because they contain documentation of not only how badly he sucks as an employee but how corrupt he is as a human being.

Even with the Washington Post article, we have probably only seen the tip of the iceberg as to what really happened. Removal mid-year and non-renewal of contract, especially in a critical shortage area of teaching like esol, sends up red flags all over the place. Someone found unfit to teach students and unfit to work around adult colleagues is certainly unfit to make decisions for the 2nd largest school system in the state of Virginia.

    Update

I have been informed that the Prince William County Democrats have not and will not endorse Manes Pierre. He has been removed from their website.

Oh ye of little faith…aka Dolph…has checked this out for herself and can confirm that he is no longer there.

  25. freedom said on 6 Oct 2007 at 2:54 pm: Flag comment

well, I don’t know where you’re looking, but http://www.va-democrats.com/?q=node/280 still has all the Manes Pierre stuff with an entire portfolio of him at the Dale City 4th of July parade.

  26. ateacher said on 6 Oct 2007 at 5:15 pm: Flag comment

I know as ateacher I could NEVER endorse or vote for Manes. What little I’ve read incites me to believe he’s a troublemaker, and more concerned for how he has been done wrong vs how he has done his students wrong.

  27. dolph said on 6 Oct 2007 at 7:53 pm: Flag comment

    Freedom,

Good eyesight on your part. I never saw this. I did notice his mug shot and bs about how wonderful he is were gone, as they should be.

I looked under candidates, saw he was gone, and rejoiced. As a resident of Prince William County I could not vote for him. He has a nerve running for school board.

  28. freedom said on 7 Oct 2007 at 8:10 am: Flag comment

I sent an E-Mail to the Dem party, asking if they were still going to support (different than endorse) Manes Pierre…still no response. The party has not endorsed him and I suppose that since there are two Dems running for the Neabsco seat, that’s why. However, after the recent revelation, it seems that removal of all mention of Manes Pierre from the Dem website would be a prudent and responsible thing for the local Dems to do.
