Alexandria Wants Our Illegal Aliens

Tomorrow, October 9th, the Alexandria City Council will vote on whether it will become a sanctuary city for illegal aliens. Here’s the summary of item 21 on the agenda that they’re going to consider:
“That the City and its various agencies will neither make inquiries about nor report on the citizenship of those who seek the protection of its laws or the use of its services except as required by law.”
Meetings are held at Alexandria City Hall, 301 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 and begin at 7:00 PM. For general information, you can call 703-838-4000.
If the Alexandria Town Council approves this resolution, I’d like to see if we can start a fund to help any illegal aliens who would like to move from Prince William County to Alexandria to do so. I’m sure they’d be very happy to live in a jurisdiction that is so accommodating and welcoming to them, and Alexandria really seems to want more illegal aliens, so this would be a terrifically humanitarian thing to to. The illegal aliens win, by going somewhere they’re welcome, and Alexandria wins by getting the residents that it wants. And in the near future, all of Virginia would win as we can observe just how well this little social experiment works out for Alexandria.
Meanwhile, lawful Alexandria residents who might not like this can come to Prince William. We’ve got some great real estate deals here, and the number of illegal aliens is pretty quickly diminishing. Refugees might end up with a longer commute, but I’m pretty sure the quality of life here and the lower cost of housing will more than make up for the inconvenience.
I’m not quite sure whether this assistance to move illegal aliens to Alexandria would be permissible under federal anti-harboring laws, but if it is legal to do so, I think we can help Alexandria out quite a bit here. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to help 30,000 or more people move to where they might really want to be? Of course Alexandria might have to loosen up on its residential occupancy limits in order to fully accommodate these “undocumented citizens”, but I’m sure if the illegal aliens ask Walter Tejada for some relief like this, he’ll be happy to do what he can to help.

Anyway, Alexandria has rolled out the welcome mat to Virginia’s illegal Mexicans. The rest of the commonwealth supports the mayor’s endeavor. Wholehearedly.

It’s so nice being close to such enlightened people. Someday I hope to be as wise, tolerant and enlightened as the authorities in Alexandria and Montgomery County. Perhaps Alexandria will want to share some of our illegal, oops sorry, I meant to say “undocumented” immigrant residents with Montgomery County, just to be fair.
Oh sweet! I cannot wait once they get invaded from the illegals and their infrastructure begins to collapse and then they start to complain about it! It is so easy to support something when you don’t have to live amidst the consequences of those decisions!
How much do you want to bet that the Morans will be at that meeting?
Prince William County has more than its share of illegal aliens, so if Alexandria wants them, they can have them. Personally, I’d like to uproot Manassas Mall and transplant it over there on King Street and see how they like living in a foreign country. Tell them to brush up on their spanish. They’re gonna need it.
Arlington County Board Vice-Chairman Walter Tejada is working overtime again. Let’s hope he gets his wish.

I’m confused. How is Walter Tejada of Arlington involved something under consideration by the city council of Alexandria? Do you have a link for us Greg, or is his name just being evoked for show considering it is an entirely separate jurisdiction.

She wants to lessen enforcement efforts during the census so as to not frighten off illegals.
How is Walter Tejada of Arlington involved???
Hello??? When Governor Warner appointed the “Virginia Latino Advisory Commission”, he chose non other than Walter “My first name is not Jose and there are no illegals in Virginia” Tejada as Chair of said Latino commission.
As such, Tejada put together the “Virginia Allience for Sensible Community Police Efforts”a group that includes reps from MALDEF, the ACLU as well as members from his Virgina Latino Advisory Commission.
The sole job of that Virgina Allience is to “Monitor Virginia police departments to guard against racial profiling and other abuses”
This statement, along with the backing of his litigious allience group, clearly translates to;
Racial profiling and other abuse charges will be made against Virginia police if the dare attempt to enforce immigration laws.
Ironic that government officials never have any problem with racial profiling - as long as the agenda is one of accommodation, service and protectionism.
In addition, Tejada was the State (as in the State of Virginia) Director of LULAC - that “inclusive” organization that advocates for open borders, drivers licences, amnesty, in-state college tuition and the right to vote for illegal aliens.
Tejada has his fingers in many pies - and his efforts extend well beyond the Arlington County boundry.
Bridget, I didn’t mean involved in the issue in general. That is obvious. I meant involved in the Alexandria City Council vote. If you want to talk in such general terms as you have, then everyone who is heavily active on this issue in Va, including your own beloved Stirrup, is equally involved. I doubt very much that Mr. Tejada is running the show in Alexandria. But then conspiratorial style thought is pretty much de rigueur here isn’t it.

I suspect he understands very well what sage “advice” that Virginia Latino Advisory Commission could provide the Alexandria Board on the topic of babysitting illegal aliens.
If nothing else, Leila, I conspire to illuminate, to open up the curtain to let in the light … and sunlight, as the saying goes, is often the best antiseptic.
I also suspect that is what so often gets your feathers in a ruffle around here, as you attempt to draw things back in the dark from way up high on that sanctimonious high horse of yours.
Bridget, you ruffled no feathers, don’t flatter yourself, and I don’t think of Walter Tejada in the terms you mentioned. I don’t think of ANY politician in those terms, sacred, saintly, etc., but I guess you must or you wouldn’t have thought of them since I didn’t express any opinion of Tejada’s character whatsoever. I also didn’t ask Herndon Bob to amend his statement. I asked for more info.

The federal government seems at best RELUNCTANT to take action against illegals. It seems that the only time the feds take any action is when they’re shamed or embarrassed into doing so and then it’s a little action that’s overly publicized so that it looks like they’re doing something big. Can anyone offer any comments or theories on this?

Try as you may, turning this into a little “yo mama” cat fight nit-picky pick character evaluation cum assassination tango will not fly. It’s easy for Alexandria to be a sanctuary city–there are no Hispanics living there. No sacrifice involved for the brave Alexandrians.
It always make me wonder why all the Democrat elites want to make us all suffer for their political schemes to get more votes, they are so desperate to get the White House back. Middle and low income people are most affected by illegal aliens, and in Alexandria, that means the Black population, college students and long time residents hanging on to their homes that were bought when affordable. These people will not acknowledge that supporting illegal aliens, is breaking the law.
Bridget, my apologies. I didn’t realize you didn’t like Stirrup. I just assumed that he was the hero of the HSM. But I can see that was an erroneous assumption and there was no reason in the world to think you held any political affection for him. Squelch debate? That is not something I have ever tried to do around here, though I see it done a lot, basically by all those who like to tell their opponents 1. You must be an illegal alien. 2. Ok if you are not, you are really an American and you should leave the country. If you can give even a single example of where I have tried to shut down any debate, please reveal it, because I have been accused of the opposite.

Alexandria is an example of what happens when your polticians become too liberal and feel sorry for everyone but the majority who don’t deserve anything. It would be interesting to see how many of the politicians in Alexandria are ethnically, racially, religiously or gender advocacy oriented. My hunch is all of them!
They will see this philosophy will implode on them, the same way it has in California, Texas, NM and Arizona.
You know, people just don’t get it. When you invite disaster you get disaster.
When you support multiculturalism, you get thousands of cultures, none of which will ever try to help each other or trust one another. Many multi-cultural leaders are starting to realize when you stand alone supporting only your personal race, religion, gender or ethnic group, you hasten that groups ultimate decline and poverty, and you depend heavily on the government, which can never really take care of you. While the rest of us will get rich, Alexandria will continually spiral into poverty. They have signed their own enonomic death knell. What we are doing in PWC, will take us out of this multi-cultural disaster pit, and put us all on a road to freedom, unity, community harmony and wealth, regardles of our race, culture, religion or gender. When you blend into a common culture, you prosper. When you divide you fall. It’s that simple, look to the rest of the world for the models. The US prospered when it united culturally, it is failing and becoming poorer as it divides and gives sancturary to “illegals”.
I live in Alexandria and by the end of next year wont be anymore. With this vote, within 5 years Alexandria will be initated into the ghetto club of Virginia. Criteria includes high crime and bad schools. Some cities already in this club include Norfolk, Portsmouth, Petersburg, and Richmond. Moving either back to Hampton or just down 95 to Woodbridge is looking better and better.
Also what a slap to the face of legal immigrants and US citizens of Alexandria. I guess Alexandria wants to reward law-breakers.
