Brian Moran Still Ducking Questions

By Greg L | 9 October 2007 | Virginia Politics, Virginia House | 8 Comments

Brian Moran was over at “The Shad Plank” today for a liveblog, and once again ducked a question about whether Virginia should enroll in the Section 287(g) Program which would allow local corrections officers to process for deportation criminal illegal aliens at the end of their sentences rather than release them back into our communities. If he’s not willing to explain why he hasn’t called for the Governor to enroll in this program on a liveblog, we’re going to have to make sure this question keeps getting asked at every public appearance he makes.

Here’s the question he ducked, again:

Our experience in Prince William County has shown that the Section 287(g) Program has dramatically improved our ability to identify criminal illegal aliens and have them deported. In the first month of operation, we deported 56 illegal aliens and identified 80 additional illegal aliens on which detainers have been placed.

Now that the benefits of this program have been demonstrated, are you now willing to call on the Governor to enroll the State Department of Corrections and the State Police in the Section 287(g) Program so we can stop releasing (for example) convicted illegal alien sex offenders and have them deported instead?

We deserve an answer here Delegate Moran, and I hope lots of people will continue to ask this question at every opportunity until you answer it.

    In today’s Washington Times: http://www.washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071009/METRO/110090068/1001

“The city of Alexandria, Va., is expected to pass a resolution tonight renewing its commitment to extend public services to illegal aliens.

“We are reaffirming and recommitting our services and outreach to international citizens,” Mayor William D. Euille, a Democrat, said yesterday.

The seven-member City Council will vote on a two-page resolution that outlines Alexandria’s intent to comply with state and federal immigration laws but not question the immigration status of people seeking public services.

Mr. Euille said that the resolution should pass unanimously but that Alexandria has no figures on the cost of providing services to illegal aliens.

“We haven’t calculated that, and we probably won’t calculate that,” he said. “We have money designated for human services, but it’s not broken down by race.”

That’s funny, when did “illegal aliens” become a “race”???

The city of Alexandria can get away with this because the illegals don’t flock there to live. They don’t have the houses that the illegals can turn into flop houses and there is not enough parking area for all their cars and vans.

He doesn’t seem inclined to explain why his fund raising page was active during the 2007 General Assembly session either…a man of few words, I would say…for now…

Greg, have you taken a talley as to which public officials have signed and have NOT signed your petition for the Gov concerning 287(G)?
