Jeanette Rishell Crushed In Debates
By Greg L | 11 October 2007 | Jeanette Rishell, 50th HOD District | 26 Comments
Lowell Feld at RazingKaine was kind enough to upload this video of Jackson Miller taking Jeanette Rishell to task on YouTube during a debate at the Prince William Committee of 100, something I haven’t had a chance to do. How nice of him.
Tonight Rishell and Miller squared off briefly at a debate hosted by the Bar Association, and Jackson Miller again had an opportunity to point out some of Jeanette Rishell’s weaknesses as a candidate. Jackson Miller revealed that Jeanette Rishell is asking for people’s votes at the same time she has failed to vote in 50% of recent elections. (listen here)
Ouch. More well-deserved bad news for “June With A Cleaver“.

Miller hits one out of the park! Ms. Rishell is criticizing Miller for being late to 25% of the Manassas City Council Meetings, when she hasn’t even bothered to vote in more than half of the last 10 elections? She is so concerned about her community, that she doesn’t even take time to vote? How pathetic.
Nicely done, whoever did this nice little piece of opposition research. Tell Delegate Miller BVBL thinks you should get a raise.
Ms. Rishell - please tell your campaign advisors to stop talking. Every time they do, you lose a bit more of your credibility and good name.
Greg, please put up Miller’s entire opening remarks. He crushed her. She was so pissed off she was turning red as a beat.
Also put up her flustered response. She basically admitted to not voting and at the same time invalidated her own attacks against Miller for being late for city council meetings with her own response. God she is such a buffoon. Why couldnt all the Dem challengers be this week this year. I wish I could vote for Miller.
Please stop saying she is sooooo weak a candidate. Her constant gaffes and screw ups are not seen by the entire electorate. Her very hard work on the campaign trail can easily overcome her pitifully poor candidacy.
Jackson himself told me this. We cant assume that he has this race in the bag. If we do, she could sneak up on us and win.
I do live in the 50th and will be voting for Jackson. I’m so sick of getting that “Rishell Rubbish” in my mailbox.
Please, support and vote for Jackson.

Here’s the home page. Sorry.

It was a truly “ugly” affair last night. Miller absolutely knocked her into complete oblivion. This is probably the worst candidate I have seen in PWC. Its unbelievable the PWC dems cannot come up with better General Assembly candidates. Rishell, Day,and Roemmelt are all clowns and an absolute joke.
Miller Supporter is 100% correct. At these forums, few votes are changed, if any. It’s the political insiders that go to these things. What we need to do is follow Greg’s example, and get the word out. Write letters to the editor. Tell your friends and neighbors. Door-knock or phone-bank for the campaign. What Rishell is counting on is that voters aren’t interested enough to do the research about her claims, her background, etc. This is what her campaign consultants are telling her. They are telling her that we are so stupid, uninformed and too busy watching reality television and ESPN to educate ourselves about the candidates. Since she’s such an accomplished liar, she will be believed by most voters she talks to, and she’s talking to a lot of them.
Maybe you should sponsor a contest for the most productive use of “Rishell Rubbish,” Greg. Tinder for your fireplace? Halloween decorations?
I received two, one addressed to me and one addressed to my wife, poster-sized glossy mailers from ‘The Friends of Jennette Rishnell’ saying the same crap as her previous mailings. These things are huge and I am sure very costly. Such a waste of money!
I’d rather be a rabid Republican, than a vapid Democrat!!!
Hey, Dems! Spend, spend, spend! Then lose, lose, lose! At least they’re putting $$ into the economy, even if it is a waste for them.
Legal2:
The problem is, all of Rishell’s venders are from out of state. The folks that do her mail are in Connecticut. I’m sure some of her money accidentally ends up in Virginia, but her signs, shirts, bumper stickers, mail and staff come from out of state.
It would be nice if it were the local economy, but I’m generous, I guess. Still, I love it when the Dems SPEND big and LOSE big.

Interesting AP article in today’s MJM -(10-13-2007)
headlined “Over the Top? Ads go for the kill”.
It is primarily about the Hugo/Simmons race where
the campaign has “gotten so mean it has surprised
seasoned political analyst and, they say, risks the
alienating voters.”
“A lot of the stuff that’s coming out of the Democratic
Party right now is almost over the top. They smell
blood and they are trying to maximimize the opportunity…”
Larry Sabato, director of the Center for Politics at UVA,
said the mailing (Dem challenger Rex Simmons declaring
GOPer Hugo was linked to torture abuses) was so far
out it “resembled a parody off a political attack ad”.
“To try to tie a state delegate to torture in Iraq is
somewhere between ludicrous and desperate,”
Sabato said.
Our own Miller/Rishell race ?– Believe it or not — it
apparently could get worse — much worse.
What part of “illegal” does Jackson Miller not understand? HB2943 would not only be unfunded (typical of the Repugnicans), but would violate federal immigration statutes. “Current Virginia law already provides police the flexibility to arrest persons suspected of committing misdemeanors if the police can articulate why they suspect the individual: (1) is intoxicated; (2) is not likely to show up for the hearing listed on the
summons; (3) is refusing to discontinue the allegedly unlawful conduct; or (4) is likely to hurt himself or others. HB2943 would allow police to arrest without meeting this standard.” It would allow trumped up minor charges to be brought so that homes could be entered just to verify the immigration status of the occupant. Can we say, “If they are brown, they must be illegal”?
HB2937 is nothing short of evil, the services that would be curtailed are, by and large, humanitarian. Would the fire department be required to check IDs before fighting fires? Would ambulance services be prohibited and ERs not allowed to work if proof of citizenship or visa status not be immediately available? What if there is a TB patient trying to get service from Dept of Health? Should they be turned away to infect the community? It will be a burden on food banks which receive state or local funds by requiring that they, too, check immigration status. Oh, it it was unfunded, as well. Ask the agencies how much more this will cost.
If you really want to go after illegals that are truly hurting America, go after the employers who hire people that cannot prove their right to work in the US. “Why?”, I hear you ask. Because the employers are the ones that do the most damage to American society. They don’t pay taxes, they know that money will be sent out of the country and, therefor, the local economy will have to shrink, and they are the cause of people crossing the border or over-staying visas. Of course, that would be bad for the businessmen in the community, and Repugs can’t do that.
Jesus was a democrat,
Typical Rishell supporter. You didnt even read the bills, or you just dont understand them. Hb2937 didnt even apply to fire or er services.
If hb2937 was so horrible why did 70 delegates vote for it?
Hb2943 is a criminal law bill that had nothing to do with illegal immigration.
Hb2943 also passed the house with a wide margin. It also had strong backing from Paul Eberts office. It got support from just about every law enforcement organization in the Commonwealth.
You must be living in a fantasy land.
Jesus was a Democrat? That’s a rather bold statement. While He is certainly registered with neither party, and I am by no means a biblical scholar, I’d suggest you check a couple references:
Romans 13:3. “For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you.”
Romans 2:11-12. “For there is no partiality with God. For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law; ”
You might deduce a couple things from these passages and the context that surrounds them. First, Jesus respects authority and law. Second, Jesus is impartial and loves the human race as a single race. These two qualities seem to be different than what history has written about the Democratic party:
First, Democrats seem to be teaching illegal immigrants to be afraid of the law. And Democrats want to justify exceptions to the law for their own political benefit.
Second, Democrats have never been more than a facade for ending racism since the beginning. Remember desegregation? Yes, those were Democrats led by Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus that stood on the steps of Little Rock High School preventing black students from entering the school. Wasn’t it also Democrats who shut down all of the high schools in Little Rock for an entire year to keep desegregation from happening?
I know Jesus is infinitely smarter than me, but I don’t think He’d always like to associate with Democrats.
“siebenundsiebzig,” makes some good points, but should remember that the pseudonym used was yet another effort by a far Left moonbat to smear Republicans, as though some had made a claim that, in fact, no Republican I know has ever made (kinda like the “unpatriotic” smear). Perhaps it is a function of Liberal guilt — i.e., they suspect their actions and/or policies are “unpatriotic” or “anti-Christian” — and therefore preemptively claim to have been called such so they can make a pretense as victims.
As for me, “JWAD” demonstrates one reason why I believe Democrats fail so miserably when they get into the “religion and politics” issue. Of course, they have such a problem paying heed to simple constitutional mandate that it is no surprise that they are even more clueless when it comes to addressing those whose political beliefs are informed by their Christian faith.
77, You seem to forget, the Dixiecrats ran directly to the Repugs when LBJ pushed the Civil Rights Act through. Yes, the GOP of the KKK (remember David Duke?) and don;t forget Rep Poe’s quoting of Nathan Bedford Forrest (you may remember him as the first Grand Wizard of the KKK) on the floor of the house. Makes you wonder where the hearts of these Repugs are.
Jesus preached love, not war. Jesus spent his life attempting to raise the downtrodden, not push them down further. Jesus spent his life attempting to heal the sick, not keep them from medical care. Jesus spent his life trying to feed the hungry. Jesus preached equality for all. Those were, and are, liberal values.
This country was founded on the Liberal values above (you may want to reread the Declaration of Independence). So, for those who try to find solace in the scriptures, reread the Gospels, for they hold the truths of Jesus’ life.
For anyone to call themselves Christain and support war, they are, at best, mistaken. For somoeone to claim christian values and not be willing to feed the hungry, they misspeak. But for those that proclaim their Christianity and not learn to forgive, they have much to learn.
It seems no one has answered the question, though. Why not just enforce the laws that we already have against the hiring of people that are not allowed to work in the US? These laws exist, have teeth, and, if enforced, would dry up the jobs that draw people from all over the world for work. Afraid of the answer? Just remember, all the prices at restaurants would rise, dramatically. Your gas prices would go up. Those of you who have their lawns done, would see a rise in cost. The HOAs would need to raise dues as the cost of groundskeeping would rise. The cost of new construction as well as handywork would rise.
And, you really need to be honest about the reasons for your precious, looney bills - you believe that brown is bad.
BTW, why did Miller support the abuser fees? You know, those pesky little fees that will affect about 1 in 3 Virginia-only families if they are not found unConstitutional.
One in three Virginia drivers are abusive? That’s ridiculous.
It’s almost as ridiculous as the rest of your points. I might suggest spending some quality time with your bible, and re-evaluating your perception that those who don’t agree with you are leading unchristian lives.
Hey dumbass (posting as Jesus was a Democrat),
Learn all of your history before you try to sound so impressive. Yes, Nathan Bedford Forrest was the first leader of the KKK. He later quit the KKK when he was no longer the leader and was upset at how the organization started to become a racist hate group.
The KKK was first started as a benevolent organization to help the wounded and the financially destitute confederate veterans of the Civil War. It later became the terrorist organization that we know today.
I agree with Belfry. Almost no votes are won or lost at these debates as only political insiders attend them, and in most cases their minds are already made up. I was having lunch in Manassas last week and heard from my waitress that the Sheriff and Clerk’s candiates were debating in the downstairs room. I went to take a look. Glen Hill absolutely obliterated his opponent, Dominguez, and William Ryland was the only Clerk candidate who made any sense. It seems like neither McQuigg or Beauchamps even knows what the duties of the Clerk are. I didn’t seen any press coverage of the debate and nobody except those who were there (I think it was a Prince William Bar event?) will know how it went down.
Greg L - Families, not drivers.
Anonymous - YOu may want to read unbiased histories of the KKK. The KKK, from day 1, was anti-black enfranchisement. They spread hate and fear throughout their first 20 years. Yes, it was not until the the early 1900s that they became solely a white supremecist, terror group. But, they were formed as a reaction to carpet baggers and the fear of losing their power to damnyankees and freed slaves (with an emphasis on the freed slave problem). They were never a truly benevolent organization.
Again, no one wants to resond to the fact that we alreadyh have laws in place to do what most would want and no one seems to want to respond. Name-calling is so much more fun for the right wingers.
Why was Miller not at the Manassas Mosque to celebrate Ead with the rest of us?
[Ed note: comment edited.]
JWAD blathered:
“For anyone to call themselves Christain and support war, they are, at best, mistaken.”
Christianity is not a suicide pact, you fool. To say war can never be supported is to grossly underestimate the evils all people - even Christians - face in this world. Evil men are stopped by means of war. That’s our collective history and our future, and I won’t let my life and faith be cut short by the aggressions of another because you believe my Christian faith supposedly bars me from taking the war to them.
Miller was probably at work earning a living. Unlike Rishell who is the full time campaigner/full time politician.
Funny statement coming from “Jesus was a democrat”. Definately a member of the Rishell campaign. I suppose “Muhammad” was a democrat also.
JWAD: Your points are vague generalizations that expose the merit of your Party’s values -> bigotry and division behind the appeasing facade of popularity. Have fun with that.
To answer your repetitive question [that shows you have not done too much reading on this blog or other anti-illegal resources], yes there are existing laws in the books that would be mostly sufficient if they were enforced. I think we’re all fans of enforcing them and the changes that would result. Your Americans-don’t-want-to-pick-lettuce argument doesn’t go far to people who look for facts.
Regardless, I’d be willing to make a few sacrifices and — GASP! — actually have to cut my own lawn and vacuum my own floors and wash my own car. (This almost sounds like a government program discussion where conservatives would appreciate the responsibility and accountability of taking care of things themselves where the libs would rather pay more taxes and not have to experience the trials and tribulations of real life.)
