The Story On Governor Kaine’s Appointee Continues

By Greg L | 12 October 2007 | Virginia Politics | 15 Comments

A few dedicated folks are still trying to run down the story on Governor Kaine’s appointee to the Virginia Commission on Immigration Omar Omeish other than myself.  I’ve filed a FOIA request with the Governor’s office to see exactly who it was that recommended and vetted this guy.  Meanwhile, the Investigative Project On Terrorism continues to dig into this guys relationship with radical Islamists:

With the resignation of Esam Omeish from a Virginia immigration panel last month, new questions emerged about the surgeon and the organization he leads.

Omeish, president of the Muslim American Society (MAS), was forced to resign after videos showed him at rallies defending Hizballah’s actions during last year’s violence with Israel and praising Palestinians for knowing that “the jihad way is the way to liberate your land.”

His reference to jihad, he later explained, wasn’t a call to violence, but for “exerting full effort” to liberate Palestine.

MAS’ founders were Muslim Brotherhood members. And, as recently as 2004, MAS leadership acknowledged nearly half its members were part of the Brotherhood. In a news conference, Omeish acknowledged those roots but insisted it was all in the past.

If any of this rings familiar, it’s because it is.

We still don’t have the full story here, but we’re getting closer.  Governor Kaine needs to come clean on what’s happened here, as none of this seems to be consistent with Kaine’s story of this being an innocent mistake of his staff not vetting his appointees sufficiently.  This trail is long, and disturbing, and there’s more trail to travel here.  Much more.

Yes, and I’m sure Tim Kaine has been aiding and abetting terrorists. Get a life, Greg. What part of the story you linked to is not “consistent with Kaine’s story of this being an innocent mistake of his staff not vetting his appointees sufficientlly.” Please, spell it out for us, because I didn’t see him mentioned anywhere in there. Do you think Tim Kaine or his staff has been attending these meetings or knew about them? Do you think Democrats in Virginia government are in cahoots with terrorists?

Muslims are required by their faith to give a large part of their income to God, so these private organizations are set up to collect their giving. Just because some in the organizations turn out to be bad apples does not make the whole bunch rotten to the core like some non-Muslim local organizations I know.

Peace… you may be right about Tim Kaine aiding and abetting terrorists but you do have to wonder about his judgement to appoint this guy to such an important commission. I just don’t understand how you can that. Big screw up on his part.

“Do you think Democrats in Virginia government are in cahoots with terrorists?”

Maybe not. But they are most definitely in cahoots with those in cahoots with terrorists.

This is what we get for our apathy and not going to the polls. Insanity. You want Northern VA to look like MD? DC? Get out and vote. The jump to Alexandria politics isn’t such a great one. I work in Alexandria. What breeds the kind of politics we see there is the extreme degree of segregation. Take a ride through Mt. Vernon or old town. It’s easy to invite illegals when you don’t see them in your neighborhoods other then when they’re landscaping your yard for peanuts or baby sitting your brats. This is the way of the left. Kaine and his ilk. They would love for nothing more then to have a complete underclass of people dependent on the govt. able to vote and secure Northern VA for the democrats.

    Get out and vote.

Given that this is such a hot button issue right now one would think that the governor (if he was set on putting a muslim in this position) would make doubly sure that there were no issues in his appointee’s past. Everyone (that is a democrat) is entitled to make a mistake once in a while but I believe this one is too big to sweep away by blaming it on a staffer. What ever happened to personal responsibility? The buck stops here and such? Blaming someone else for a mistake is not the sign of a good manager or leader.

Well listen, we’ve seen this thing before, right here in PWC: 1.) “Well, although I was a spokesperson to Congress for the AMC, I had no idea what was going on….I’m totally innocent”! and although the founder and head of the AMC was convicted and is now serving a prison term for funneling money to the terrorists…if you hold the Congressional spokesman (Faisal Gill) responsible for actions of the organization…or even question his suitability as a Delegate to the HOD, 2.) “You’re a racist, a bigot, you’re criminalizing ALL Muslims and you’re finding him guilty by mere association” and finally 3.) “…well, I have asked him about it and he says he is innocent…he says he was exonerated of all charges.”

Mando is right…get out and vote! For a perfect example of what happens when you DON’T vote, just look what happened to the Republicans in the 51st District, just because some (except for the block vote) just couldn’t find the interest or the time to participate in the convention…well, there were other issues too, of course.

    Freedom —

You are exactly right. Look what the outcome will be now……2 (not 1)! 2 lost General Assembly seats for the GOP because of the PWCGOP not vetting a candidate properly.

We’ll lose the 51st to the Democrats when Gill goes down in flames, and sadly we’ll lose one of my favorite State Senators Jay O’Brien in the 39th because he’s in a tight race and it overlaps into the 51st where our horrible candidate will depress GOP turnout and hike the Democrat turnout to the polls.

Nice Kopko….hope you had a great time on all that money you got from Gill and whoever else paid you off!

Folks…this is what Greg is getting at here. When these strange things happen in Virginia politics with a person who has suspicious ties to terrorist organizatios, there is usually a money trail to follow. THAT is what needs to be investigated concerning this Commission apointment. It just doesn’t wash that they didn’t know about the appointee’s past statements….anybody could have Googled his name and there it was for the world to see (and many did).

Somebody got something in return for that appoinment that was worth more than the embarrassment of having to pull back the appoinment — that’s the real truth that should be found out. We can’t let these people of both parties keep getting away with this crooked crap. It will slowly take down our great Commonwealth.

All I can say is–Red House, VA near Roanoke. The town is owned by Muzzies and is a “no go” area for law enforcement. Muslims are trying to do the same thing to Walkersville, MD. They want to buy a 280 acre piece of land to build a training camp. Ooops, I meant retreat.

Exactly. Kaine needs to take full responsibility for this, he is the governor, not the staffer that he is throwing under the bus..

    Follow the money.

Esam Omeish would be on the immigration council if not for the easily accessible videos on YouTube.

    Follow the money.
