At this point I think Ham’s only real opponent in the election is the average citizens unfamiliarity with write in voting. Good post Greg.

It’s actually very simple and straightforward Legal2, if I recall (I’ve utilized the format since they were introduced)…even more so than the old machines, which surprised me. I was intimidated by those new machines at first so I simply asked one of the election officials and they were very helpful.

The ‘eyeball’ story is at least 20 years old and the entire story needs to be told if it is going to be resurrected. I, for one, am very tired of this story being used for political commentary. An off-duty cop with a reckless reputation, working as a bouncer in downtown bar, and a kid who had too much to drink and lots of witnesses hardly makes for a hot political tale of intrigue years later. I know and like both major players involved. The story should be put to rest.

I am not saying that what all happened was right, not by a long shot. I was appalled by it also. I’ve had contact with the son and there is no love-lost. All I was saying is that no matter how well we try to raise our kids, sometimes they screw up.

What in the heck are you babbling about? Ebert had an adult family member who committeed a violent felony on an off duty police officer (that was my sister’s housemate at the time….and yes…he was hit so hard by Pete Ebert that his eyeball came out of its socket). Ebert stood in the way of a proper investigation and appropriate charges (yes there’s a legal term for that I won’t use here). Case closed.

Knock off the poor potty training bunk…it has no relevance here. You want me to ask my sister if she still has photos of the policeman’s eye or what was left of it, so you can be shocked back into reality from whatever planet you’re on right now?

There comes a point in time when “children” develop a mind of their own. Parents can instill the best possible values in the child, yet the child can still do something stupid. In this case, you are referring to an adult child. Mr. Ebert has gotten every death sentence he has asked for.
