Gregg,

856 posts! For the love or our Lord and Saviour, please retain these postings. Make paper and silicon copies and lock them up. The Government's position will be recorded for all time, but few get the raw emotion of ALL the voters like you have. Think if they would have had the "blog" during the Revolution, how many American's would have said "well, it's sort of alright by me to be under British rule because...." Contrast with...I'll not bore you with the 5th grade Patriots lecture...Fmr. DEPSECDEF Wofowitz (whether you love him or hate him) is a "big time" blogger and put a lot of our tax payer dollars into a website to "capture the opinions of the citizens in a growing Democracy..."' in Iraq. This is important discussion.

If every state and locality would make it hard for illegal's to live here they will go back to whence they came from. I would love to see them go back and organize themselves in their own countries and demand from their government what they are demanding from ours!

It was over before it started. The Post said that Marty Nohe wrote the resolution that actually passed. He has a history of brokering decisions that all of the BOCS can live with. The Citizen's time was just for show (and what a show it was... I hung in there 'til midnight on-line).

A solution where everyone wins a bit is good Government. I think all parties (HSM, the BOCS, even MWB) won a bit last night. I hope the divisiveness can end and honest dialog can begin. Now, we will see what kind of a leader Corey Stewart really is.

Of course those that support law breakers see nothing wrong with the many insulting comments made by their fellow supporters at the meeting last night/earlier this morning. It seems the real agenda of those who are illegal and those that support illegals came out when the lady said to go to hell, once she realized a board member could speak spanish.

Funny how that happens, the other side thought by speaking in spanish, they could get away with something. Opps, guess not. Ha ha ha ha.

Cprofits,

Do you think maybe fox wanted to show just how silly the supporters of illegals are? Lord knows the MJM and the COMPOST will not cover it.

While I do not live in the County, I want to thank the board for standing up for the rule of law.

I just saw a news report on Fox 5 that showed the 'hysterical woman' that yelled out from the back of the room at about 2:20. It was the woman in the pink sleeveless top that was acting as a translator for most of the evening.

She said, 'Thank you for taking care of me! Thank you for leaving my children motherless and fatherless. You're going to burn in hell Corey Stewart.'

They also showed snippets of two other people speaking (these were both people who were speaking very late, between 1 and 2 am) and they both were very anti-resolution. Those of you who were still watching, the 20-something thin, caucasian girl who said she was embarrassed to be a pwc resident. I'm so bothered by the slanted news coverage of this few minutes on channel 5. If I had not been following these events all night (all year) and I watched those clips showed and listened to their commentary, I would certainly think the citizens were against this and the Board members were animals.

This is so much like the MJM. Is it too much to ask for the news professionals to just report the news in a fair and unbiased way? All the news, not bits and pieces and conveniently leave out others that don't fit their agenda? Wouldn't it be refreshing to be able to listen to the news/read the newspaper and feel like you're getting both sides of the issue?

Thanks to the MAJORITY of you, for and against the resolution, for your civil discussion on this matter. As I stated at approx. 2:30 this a.m. during the "7:30 p.m. citizen's time", thank you BOCS for being so brave and voting to implement this resolution. Now, in Woodbridge, let's move forward and revitalize the Route 1 corridor, get out of control growth under control and reduce our traffic congestion! Vote Chris Royse on November 6th.

We should file a lawsuit against every central american country that is sending us their unwanted. Manassas is now getting sued by another damn group:

A Washington, D.C., civil rights group is suing the City of Manassas and Manassas City Public Schools, alleging that the city and school system have taken systematic measures to "target, discriminate against and evict the city's Hispanic residents."

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Alexandria by the Equal Rights Center and eight individuals, claims city officials violated the U.S. Constitution, the Federal Fair Housing Act and federal and state civil rights laws by employing discriminatory zoning enforcement practices.

"I think that what they've done does not well represent this country," Rabbi Bruce E. Kahn, executive director of the Equal Rights Center, said in a telephone interview. "I am appalled by what has happened in Manassas. I believe it is unjust. I believe that it is bigoted. I believe that the officials need to seriously apologize and try as best they can to undo the damage they have done."

The lawsuit comes at the height of the illegal immigration debate in Prince William County, and was filed the same day the Board of County Supervisors was set to vote on a controversial plan aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration.

As a part of an investigation into methods used by city and school officials, the Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs obtained documents through Freedom of Information Act requests that show inspectors "selectively and aggressively" target Hispanic households, said Isabelle M. Thabault, director of the committee's Fair Housing Project.

The complaint alleges that from the beginning of 2005, approximately 92 percent of the homes investigated by city inspectors were Hispanic-owned or occupied.

Approximately 15 percent of the city population is Hispanic.

In some cases, Thabault said inspections were done in the middle of the night, sometimes with police present, and with inspectors using harassment and intimidation to get into the house.

"In all of the records, not one white resident was ever subjected to these kinds of [tactics]," Thabault said in a telephone interview.

Additionally, she said, the reasons for the inspections were often based on "flimsy evidence" provided through a city-run phone and e-mail hotline.

Manassas City Manager Lawrence Hughes said he has not received the complaint, but that it is related to a matter that has been under investigation for nearly two years by the Department of Justice and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

"We remain convinced that the actions of the city were lawful," Hughes said by telephone.

Calls made to the school superintendent's office late Tuesday were not returned.

The eight individual plaintiffs, who are being represented by the Washington Lawyers' Committee and the national law firm Beveridge & Diamond, P.C., are all either U.S. citizens or in the country legally, Thabault said.

Sparking the investigation into zoning enforcement practices was a decision by the Manassas City Council in December 2005 to change the definition of "family" in a way that the suit alleges prohibited extended families from living together regardless of the size of the house.

And, she said, they did that "knowing full well Hispanic families traditionally live with extended family."

And while the zoning amendment that redefined "family" was suspended in 2006, the suit alleges that at least 23 homes, all occupied by Hispanics, were inspected while it was in effect.

The lawsuit also accuses the School Board and school system officials of giving confidential information about at least 52 students to inspectors with the zoning office without the parental consent required to release student records.

The suit claims that inspectors used the information to "target Hispanic families for harassment."

And while the zoning amendment that redefined “family” was suspended in 2006, the suit alleges that at least 23 homes, all occupied by Hispanics, were inspected while it was in effect.

The lawsuit also accuses the School Board and school system officials of giving confidential information about at least 52 students to inspectors with the zoning office without the parental consent required to release student records.

The suit claims that inspectors used the information to “target Hispanic families for harassment.”

Sorry for the sarcasm. I know this is a very tense time for all those who are here illegally and are faced with the possibility of having to behave and/or leave.
I am looking forward to watching what happens now.

Thanks to all of you who have spent so much time and effort to bring this so far. HSM just started in April and has been a driving force in this effort. PWC has done so much in such a short time. Congratulations.

The only understandable thing I could make out from what she was saying was, 'thank you for taking the mothers away from the babies.'
