2007 Voter’s Guide Is Available
By Greg L | 19 October 2007 | Virginia House, Virginia Senate, Prince William County | 70 Comments
The BVBL 2007 Voter’s Guide is available. For regular readers, there shouldn’t be a whole lot of surprises here, but for those of you who haven’t been following too closely, this might provide some insight.
This will be fleshed out with additional links and information over the next week or so.
UPDATE: I had neglected to cover the Occoquan Supervisor’s race originally. The guide is now updated to include this race.

Anybody but Lucy??? Sorry, Greg, but McQuigg is JUST as much, if not more, a nutjob. Richmond is VERY happy to see HER leave and NOT because she is a Republican, but because NO ONE can stand her.
I am writing this in defense of Michele McQuigg. As most of you know, I work for Delegate Frederick and our offices are right next to each other in the General Assembly Building. While in Richmond, I frequently get to the office around 6:30am. I can tell you 90% of the time, Del. McQuigg is already in her
office looking over upcoming legislation on the days’ calendar, and when I visit her, she is usually researching bills, etc. I know first hand that she practically reads EVERYTHING that comes before her and is, in my opinion, one of the hardest working and thoughtful Delegates in Richmond. So Mr. Light, I disagree with your assessment and know she will indeed be missed. She served the people well in the 51st and they all should be sad to see her go. I can only hope the people of Prince William County will elect her to Clerk of the Court, her experience has certainly warrented it.
I guess it’s to each his own. But McQuigg is not liked as well as you think. How she has won,is anybodys guess, didn’t have much in competition. But she could not manage a small Convention as Credentials Chair and there were 3 precincts with over votes.Guess who the over votes helped get the nomination and guess who McQuigg pushed with her clothes all plastered with Gill stickers? Gill won but it was manuvering of the counts. State Party in Richmond, said throw out the votes. Did she or Kopko listen. No ! They knew that Lucas would win.
McQuigg was like this when she was Supervisor here and like that when she went to Richmond. She had Aides that left her left and right as she can be a very nasty person and hard to work with.
We don’t need this in the Clerks Office.
Beaucham is the better choice and she has done well for the School System.
I’ve heard McQuigg has never had anyone work for her longer than six months. Can anyone verify this? I don’t feel she’s what we need in the Clerk’s Office.
Lucy is simply NOT an option!!! I just saw her zippin’ down Sudley Manor with the top down. She looked like she was running for Homecoming Queen, and not the important of The Clerk of the Court. The School Board is avery different play ground than the Clerk’s Office. She’s darn neart the “Hilda” of the School Board, simply been around too long.
It’s is true one not need be an attorney to be the Clerk. However, a working legal background is advantageous though.
Mr. Ryland was appointed Clerk before our last Clerk took office. He’s still using the Clerk’s office each and everyday.
Clearly Mr. Ryland is the one to vote for.
I saw these three debate the other night.
These two women are NOT an option!!
Don’t forget the vote Lucy Bo-chomp cast to keep that marxist piece of trash in the Honors English class (House of the Spirits) while she was on school board. Don’t think her judgment is too swift.
I’ve been a supporter of Michelle for a long time, but little did I know, until recently. When I asked Michelle about supporting a man with such a questionable background as Faisal Gill for the 51st District HOD race, she said that she had discussed it with him and that he claimed to have known nothing of what was going on with the American Muslim Council and its now imprisoned founder and head. Yeah, right!!! I guess she thought he’d freely ADMIT to having ties with the convicted leader of the organization for which he served as spokesman. Duuuuh??
Then, there was the 51st Convention Credentials Committee…what an absolute fiasco THAT was! There is no need to go over THAT whole mess again, but I assure you, the credentialing process wasn’t pretty. We don’t need THAT in the Clerk’s office.
If there is any place in government that we don’t need gullibility and inept management skills…it’s in the Clerk’s office. Over the years, Michelle has tried and tried hard, but she needs to be relieved of the stress so she can take a well deserved rest.
This choice couldn’t be easier. Lucy’s got my vote.
Lafayette, I have renewed respect for you. McQuigg is a disaster. She has won all these years because she has been in a mostly Republican area where she regularly goes door-to-door and people know her–and even feel sorry for her. But, that is the only thing she does well. She is otherwise one of the most incompetent, indecisive, issue clueless, and administratively-challenged elected officials you will ever meet. People were finally beginning to see that and she knew it. She had her tightest race last year against an inexperienced unknown, and might well have lost the delegate race this year to Nichols. That she was on the credentials committee at the convention was just begging for trouble. If there is one elected office where party affiliation should not be a litmus test and administrative competence should be paramount, it is Clerk of the Court. I’m very glad to see you have an open mind and are not simply in Greg L.’s pocket. Lucy Beauchamp is competent, but Bill Ryland is clearly by far the best person for this position.
Thanks for the info, freedom & anonymous - Lucy’s a definite NO and knowing mm’s connection with faisal eliminates her from my ballot.
“I just saw her zippin’ down Sudley Manor with the top down. She looked like she was running for Homecoming Queen, and not the important of The Clerk of the Court.”
This has got to be one of the most brainless reasons I have ever seen given for opposing a candidate. What a brilliant mind this poster has.
Why does the school board attract such nutty candidates?
Manes Pierre: I wished I lived in Neabsco just so I could NOT vote for him. I can’t even pronounce the other guy’s name but I’m guessing he’ll want Muslim footbaths installed in the high schools. Desi Arnaiz: Okay the name is enough to make me laugh, but from what I’ve seen of him waving at me on Rt. 29, this guy is a nut too.
I hope to God the others are normal people since my children’s future is in their hands.
Anon@3:15
Thank you, for your renewed RESPECT. In Greg’s pocket, I THINK NOT!! We share many of the same views, however politics we differ. Here’s some comments I posted last week.

Lafayette said on 13 Oct 2007 at 7:11 pm:
Billyboy,
You say you know me and I know you, right? Are you SURE?
Well if that’s true you would know that I’m a very INDEPENDENT thinker, and don’t care to be part of the “in crowd”. NO one has EVER been able to tell me what to do, and certainly NOT Greg, sir!
Please, show me where I came after Chuck. I would never attack Chuck. I have told others not to call him names. I will try to find this, and post it for you.
I vote based on issue not party. You say you’re a conservative republican. I don’t claim either party. Truthfully, I have voted for far more Dems in my day than Repubs. You know that I grew up in a VERY Democratic neighborhood. If you know me like you say you do. I grew up at one of those house where you’d see opposing signs in the same yard. One of my parents a die hard Repub., and the other a die hard Dem. I will say they both voted for Chuck, and I’ve even worked the polls on Chuck’s behalf before. Geez, did you know them too?
***************
I have a Luis Domingez sign in my yard, and DON’T think for one minute that was Greg’s idea.
anon@3:56
I didn’t just make the zippin’ down Sudley Manor comment. I did say I was at the debate, and I saw first hand. Lucy seeks power and tends to exaggerate her own importance. I have watched the PWCBOS and PWCSB meetings for years now. There’ve been votes over the years that were 7to1, and the one lone opposing vote has been that of Lucy.
I’ve have worked in the PWC Clerk’s office at various times over the last 3 decades. I’ve spent the last 6 years working in PWC only, and I do go to the Clerk’s Office each and everyday. I can tell you this much she’s not ready for that office. Lucy is like many others in local politics in our area. They need to wake up long enough to realize it’s now time to go home, and rest in the comfort of their own home.
Note I have NOT worked for the county!
Mike, you wrote, “So Mr. Light, I disagree with your assessment and know she will indeed be missed. She served the people well in the 51st and they all should be sad to see her go.”
Well, I have to disagree. Maybe you are hoping she wins so she WILL get away from Richmond. She was VERY ineffective - can you please let me know what positive things, what bill, legislation, etc. she sponsored, wrote, etc that passed which was good for the 51st?
Michele showed her TRUE colors at the Convention and behind the scenes doing everything she could to keep Julie down. I guess it was nice that her husband was there (are they still married??), even IF he lives in Washington DC.
The ONLY thing Michele did right was door knocking, but THAT does not get the job done, though it does help with getting votes, as she has proven. Mike, while I do not know you, you come across as a young idealist (we ALL were at some point in our lives like then, until experience made us mature realists). You have that fire in the belly, which is good, and you are working for a someone (Jeff F.) who I personally think VERY highly of. That being said, as someone who has seen the REAL side of Michselfish, er, Michele and selfish ways, I am GLAD that she does not live here in Springfield and that MY choice is John Frey, because I would HATE to NOTE be able to cast a vote because my choices were either Lucy(fer) or MM.
Why would a lawyer opt for a job that pays less than any able lawyer can make in themarket place? That probably answers itself. McQuigg….hahaha. Lucy is the person most suited for the job of clerk and proved it last Thursday. McQuigg was like a scared child on the podium and was confused when she didn’t have notes to refer to. The lawyer had his crib notes that he referred to often. Lucy spoke from complete confidence in what she believed with no notes.
We need Bologna Sandwich as Clerk of Court!!!
My vote goes to Sharon Pandak. For those of you who think that the resolution created by Stewart and Stirrup (aka, dumb and dumber) did anything to combat the illegal alien problem in PWC, think again. The only thing that resolution does is keep illegal immigrants out of homeless shelters. And for that matter, some of those shelters do not have a right to ask about a person’s immigration status because they could lose their HUD funding, so what is the point of the resolution? Don’t get me wrong, I am as fed up with the illegal immigrant problem as the next guy, but this resolution claims to deny services to illegal immigrants and let’s face it, it doesn’t deny the services that we care about i.e., education, medical treatment and roads. The resolution that was passed is nothing more than a form of lip service that the supervisors can use as a way of going back to their constituents and telling them “this is what I did to stop illegal immigration.” Corey Stewart is nothing more than a typical politician who will say and do whatever he has to do to get to the top and that is why Sharon Pandak will have my vote for the next BOCS Chair.
CONVA - Clinton did not use notes either and then when people checked his facts, he was 9 times out of 10 proven WRONG!!! Why would a lawyer run for Delegate - the pay down there sucks also. If we go off of qualification, it seems the Dem has this one in the bag - like it or not.
It is little surprise at all that “Mitch Cumstein” would endorse an idiot like Lucy Beauchamp. Woman can’t even run a meeting in her CURRENT job.
As for the rest, Greg, I presume we may read your endorsement of a Democrat (in the 51st) as your resignation from the County Republican Committee.
Sure, Freedom. I’m absolutely positive that the evildoers at the AMC immediately shared their illicit activities with someone who was the lobbyist for six months, someone who was a Navy JAG lawyer and held presidential appointments. After all, he is a MUSLIM, too, and we all know that they’re all jihadists.
Do you people realize how ridiculous you sound?
Fed up,
You could not be more right!! John Strirrup yelling point of order Mr. Chairman, point of orderto Stewart on the video post here looked like Gomer Pile yelling Citizens arrest, citizens arrest to Barnie Fife. Frankly Marty Nohe saved the County a lot of heart ache and cost by toning things down. However I don’t think the Resolution is going to prove to be lawful.
The Feds always interfere.
On another note, I live in Day/ Lingamfelter territory. To date Day’s people have been in my neighborhood twice, they have used automated dailing for messages three times and we have received three pieces of mail from Day.
I got one letter from Lingamfelter explaining
“Why we need abusive driver fee’s”. The question is
is Lingamfelter still alive and still running.
James Young,
I don’t like you, but if you can get Greg to do that, I may love you.
Everybody ready for the ride on the Swiftboat?
VROOOOOM VROOOOOM
My wife might object, Anon.
Besides, I’m not “getting” Greg to do anything; he’s doing it to himself.
And Brighter Future, I presume by that standard that you don’t like Marty Nohe, either. After all, he managed to lose (for a time) the checks when he was entrusted with them for a Convention. Aside from that, stop lying about what happened when Faisal Gill was nominated. I have never seen such a nihilistic case of sour grapes in any GOP contest. Whomever suggested that course (throwing out only precincts where Gill won) doesn’t understand Robert’s Rules any more than Lucas did. That’s why her appeal went nowhere. Kopko’s decision was unassailable; even the 11th District Committee rejected it unanimously; and she didn’t bother to appeal it to State Central.
Whoever- subjective case needed here.
Ahhhhhhh, he’s back…:) No use, jimmy, too many KNOW what happened — we all know…it wasn’t hidden quite well enough. We wanted and deserve a Republican delegate, but look at what’s you’ve done….and ALL were warned!!
Greg L,
Is anybody out there? are you going to resign?
Let’s hope that Greg doesn’t resign, for I have really enjoyed
the venue he has provided for all of us to opine about various
topics of interest, and I will hope that it will continue.
I must disagree, however, with Greg’s endorsement of Glendell
Hill (Sheriff) and wonder, as a loyal Republican, how he can
not recognize how much damage that man has done to the
party by his obvious traitorous behavior, snuggling up to Colgan
and Beauchamp and now Rishell.
Glendell leaves a lot to be desired if you want to look at loyalty
and integrity. It amazes me that this brother can talk about
his integrity when he deliberately failed to pay his taxes for
years (yes, the voters “forgave” him but that doesn’t make it
any less honest).
Greg, for you to infer that Louis Dominguez has Stoffregen
traits is simply wrong. Dominguez exhibits more integrity in
one day that Hill exhibits in 4 years. Dominguez walks the walk.
A lot goes on in that department but most is conveniently kept
under raps. Hill does not like “bad press”.
The very suggestion that Greg resign from PWCRC for supporting a Democrat is a perfect illustration of the pathetic lunacy of this organization. Looking at the slate of candidates this year, one would need a labotomy to support the entire Republican ticket in Prince William. But feel free to criticize those of us willing to think for ourselves and vote intelligently. I washed my hands of the committee several years ago and, not only will I not return, I will actively support the opponents of many of the questionable candidates the committee endorses.
Maybe you won’t miss me in particular, but I suspect that others will start to detect the cyanide in the Kool-Aid soon enough.
Gone Fishing,
You’ve hit the nail on the head!
Mr. Dominguez, made the statement about relocation of Judicial Center to attract attention to the lack of security at the courthouse. We’ve both metioned this on other threads. The courthouse has just hada nice addition put on it, and we all know it’s not going anywhere.
I would urge anyone who is considering a change or just need more information to contact Mr. Dominguez. Louis will call or respond back via email. Please, contact him at louislgdominguez@aol.com
I don’t many if any other than Greg, and a few other die hard Republicans that would vote for Glen Hill even for “dog catcher”
Now, Sheriff Hill is kissing up with Rishell. It really makes one wonder who else is on the list with Rishell. We all know the reason he got elected was due to the fact the citizens had enough of Stoffy.
Lafayette, when several months ago I handed Louis a check
(pretty generous, I might add) to help him in his campaign,
he handed it back to me and told me that he intended to use
his own money for his campaign so nobody could ever accuse
him of being in the pockets of anybody! Needless to say, I
was entirely impressed then, and am more impressed now
ever!
Maybe, “Mitch,” maybe. After all, many feel the same way about Marty Nohe, who was — you will recall — Chairman Sean’s second choice against Mary Hill.
But of course, that begs the question and constitutes a pathetic effort to change the subject. No one FORCED any member of the County Republican Committee to pledge their intent “to support all of the Party’s nominees for public office in the ensuing election”; it was an oath freely and voluntarily taken.
If your sensibilities don’t permit you to take that pledge, then good riddance: you are clearly ill-suited to the Party leadership role that County GOP Committee membership implies. Assuming arguendo that you ever WERE a Republican — all that we know about you is what you tell us; even AWCheney has more credibility than you on that score — it is one small shred of honor apparent in someone so otherwise devoid of it that he fears revelation of his true identity, preferring instead to cast aspersions against those who are willing to associate their names with their comments.
…and jimmy young says:
“If your sensibilities don’t permit you to take that pledge, then good riddance: you are clearly ill-suited to the Party leadership role that County GOP Committee membership implies.”
Well jimmy, your inference is that YOU are well suited to Party leadership, but it just doesn’t fly jimmy — there are too many of us here who know you personally, and have seen you in action. We know better.
It’s interesting that you bring up the subject of “…ill-suited to the Party leadership.” Having done so, however, when a party leader, in the employment of one candidate requires two months to evaluate an appeal and eventually deny correction of a simple, delegate counting error because “…it should have been caught at the convention…” and that same individual denies recommendation of the RPV to discount those two precincts with more ballots than credentialed voters, you tell ME jimmy, just who is “…ill-suited to the Party leadership”? THAT, my friend is violation of a pledge despite the fact that you resolutely refuse to accept it.
…and THAT, my friend is why the 51st District will have a Democrat representing us in the HOD. The really strange part of it is that you were warned and knew full-well what was happening at the time. Is that what it takes to be well-suited to party leadership?
By evaluating any real progress on the issues that seem to be important to the readers of this blog, you have to admit that nothing of any substance has been accomplished by those who seem to have to loudest voices. Voters who believe that Corey Stewart and Jackson Miller have adequately addressed the illegal immigration issues are not really examining the real outcomes which are as yet and probably never will be realized. The recent Board of Supervisors ploy to exclude illegal immigrants from certain services is a hoax on the citizens of Prince William County. What is sadder is the amount of money that will be wasted in enforcement with no statistical evidence that such services are being used by illegal immigrants. Look at the mess the City of Manassas has encountered as a result of the misguided enactment of a law that was obviously going to be challenged by the Federal government if not individuals. This wasn’t rocket science but instead actions that were an obvious ploy to pad the resume of the Council members who wanted to seek votes predicated on false reassurance. This costly mistake formed the basis of Jackson Miller’s successful campaign for Delegate. What’s ironic is when he got to Richmond and introduced his anti-immigration bills, they all failed. Oh, yes the House of Delegates voted in favor of penalizing churches and charities for serving illegal immigrants, but the likelihood of such legislation ever becoming enacted is nil. Again, Jackson Miller and Corey Stewart are engaged in magical thinking and a desire to maintain power and control rather than accomplishing anything meaningful other than creating a wider chasm between the Democrats and Republican residents of Prince William County and Manassas which will impede any hope of progress.
Sure, “fredo,” and we all know of your vast and serious accomplishments as a GOP activist…. oops! Wait a minute! We don’t! We can only surmise that you are a gnat whose pathetic record means, at best, that you are hiding your prejudices and interests, or more likely, that you have to hide your unknown name behind a pseudonym lest your pronouncements be summarily dismissed as those of an irrelevancy. That’s probably why you attack those with a record — how you don’t bother to specify, though among other things, I’ve actually served on a number of State, District, and County Convention committees (including as Chairman of District and County Convention Rules Committees), and a principle author of the County Party Plan — with a belittling nickname that rightly belongs to my son. As I’ve said before, I don’t allow my eleven-year-old to read or comment on the tripe that passes for argument here.
As for your “inference,” it is your own; all that I intended to imply — and I think I said it virtually outright — is that those who aspire to leadership in the County GOP by joining the County Committee take a pledge to support “all of the Party’s nominees for public office in the ensuing election.” Those who choose the dishonorable course and violate their pledge violate one of the few simple rules plainly stated in the state and local Party Plans.
‘Fact is, you see very little of me “in action,” and have probably seen little of it, since it is doubtful that you are a Republican at all. What we see of you “in action” is perpetuating the lie that Tom Kopko somehow took an unreasonable time to evaluate the Lucas appeal, trying to have your cake at eat it too: if Kopko had ruled more promptly (i.e., before he received factual reports that he was reduced to virtually begging for), you would have whined that he didn’t examine all of the facts; that he did examine all of the facts is now a point of complaint. Whine; whine; whine. Stop trying to act as though you were complaining about the process when what you really are complaining about is the inevitable and well-justified result. And BTW, the so-called “recommendation” which you reference, if made at all, was clearly a recommendation to disregard the requirements of Robert’s Rules. Had it borne any weight at all, Lucas’ appeal would have been successful.
It’s so much easier than admitting that your candidate’s conduct of the appeal demonstrated more effectively than virtually anything her ill-suitedness (as well as those advising her) for the position she sought, at least at this time. And if you believe that Lucas could have fared well against Nichols, you’ve been sipping a little too much Kool-Aid. He might have been a little less sleazy in his strategy, but he likely would have overwhelmed her with competence.
Okay, Greg is punking out, talk about ducking.
How is Hill snuggling up to Rishelle.
I like Mr. Dominguez, he is one of the nicest people I have
ever known but he is not cut out to be Sheriff. I will admit however the Sheriff;s department has gotten much worse under Hill.
You will be surprised what people can do if given a chance. Mr Dominguez is no exception, he has some very good ideas to help the people and community. It can’t hurt, four years of doing nothing under Mr. Hill is what’s hurting the community.
Anonymous (11:33)
If you have spent any time at all conversing w/Louis or bother
to check his credentials (which I have done), your argument
that he “is not cut out to be Sheriff” doesn’t make much sense
to me. What does make sense, of course, is your comment
that “the Sheriff’s department has gotten much worse under
Hill”. That’s a very astute observation and one which, I believe,
is becoming more and more obvious amongst the masses.
Dominguez will be an A-one sheriff, you can count on it.
Was Mr. Dominguez a phlebotomist at Prince William Hospital in the 70’s? 80″s?
patryot, yes, Mr Dominguez was employed some years ago
at Pr William Hosp; however, in what capacity, I’m not
sure. It could be that he was a phlebotomist. You could
contact him to obtain this information. I believe that he is
listed in the phone book.
Patryot,
Contact him yourself. He will email, call, or pay you a visit. For further information… louislgdominguez@aol.com
Gone Fishing,
Well, looks you, I, and few others are awake. Now, the rest need a wake up call. It’s been a 4 long years over there at the courthouse. When’s the last time you’ve the Sheriff’s Dept. serve a warrant? I know there’s plenty of cases on the docket.
Is everyone using Private Process Servers? I know I would!
patryot, Mr Dominguez has responded to my email in
which I questioned his employment @PW Hosp and I can
relay this to you: He was not a phlebotomist; he was, in fact,
Chief Medical Technologist and managed the clinic and blood
bank. He was also infection control chairman and a pioneer
in hosp. infection control (I’ll bet the hosp and schools could
certainly use his expertise right about now). He did assist
nurses in starting IV fluids and transfusions when they couldn’t
find the veins in elderly patients, small children and babies.
He went back to school at nights and on weekends, earning
masters degrees in business and public administration, after
which he was promoted to Asst. Administrator in charge of
various departments and sections including security.
He founded and was the first director of the Lab Asst School
at the hosp and also lectured @the L.P.N. School @ the hosp.
As you can see, Mr Domingues has had a very unique career
(which also includes serving in the armed forces). His life is
quite an open book and he has nothing to hide. I can ask him
if I might give you his email address, if you like.
Gone Fishing,
I talk to Mr. D., over the weekend he said feel free to give his email address, which I’ve posted on several different threads.
We don’t need another four more years of the current “regime”.
I wonder where Mr. Billyboy stands on this race?
**
Consider a change contact Louis Dominquez at his email.
louislgdominguez@aol.com
I see all the chatter about the Sheriff’s race and must admit that I’m waaaay behind the 8-ball on that one. I want to learn more. Please, without the emotionalism, would someone please explain to me why Sheriff Hill shold not be reelected? Thanks.
Freedom: The short and sweet answer is he has not accomplished a thing for the people or the community.
freedom, it is a great day when someone reaches out for
information on political candidates! I hope that you have made
contact with Mr Domingues. That man is above reproach.
To reply to your question as to why Sheriff Hill should not be
re-elected, please see the comment by Anonymous (above),
but there are many, many other reasons I can (and will) add.
Glendell, first and foremost, has removed himself from the
ordinary people who worked to put him where he is today. He
has abandoned his people, for the most part. I will not go any
further with the personal thing, but I will move on to the meat of the matter. Glendell was elected sheriff for one reason only.
The Sheriff and the Chief of Police were in a tug of war and a
power play because it was the perception of many that the
Sheriff was usurping police duties, when in fact, the Sheriff,
as a sworn law enforcement officer (as are the deputies) gave
his approval and encouragement to his deputies to set up speed
traps and indeed to actually write tickets for law breakers!
Glendell came in with the promise that he would ONLY attend to
courtroom security and civil process (but first, read Lafayette’s
comment @ 9:48). That’s it. There are 40 more deputies now
than the previous sheriff had on board. My concern is, what are
these people doing? There is no way that they are serving as
bailiffs and/or doing security at the front door all day long. This
is a blatent waste of tax payer’s dollars.
I trust that you and others will finally realize that we voted for the wrong person to fill that position. Mr Hill would be better
suited to tee-off with his wealthy friends on the Trent Jones
golf course while Louis Dominguez does the job that will most
certainly improve our lives and those of our children!
I would like to add a foot note here, if I may. This afternoon,
I watched as a driver went thru a stop sign (busy street, lots of
children) and a PWCPD, sitting in his cruiser, did absolutely
nothing! Charlie Deane could use some help from these deputies who are sitting around doing nothing. What’s the problem here? Please vote for Louis Dominguez.
freedom, I am very glad that you are reaching out for information on political candidates. You are a real American
(ergo, your screen name?) in my eyes. To answer your inquiry
as to why Sheriff Hill should not be re-elected, I will try my best
to stay away from my personal feelings (thus, no emotionalism-
promise). Sheriff Hill is not interested in doing anything which
will improve our quality of life in the community. He has actually abandoned his people by escaping to his paradise, the
gated community of the wealthy in a an enclave of his “peers” and spends more time playing golf on the Trent Jones golf course than he does at his sheriff duties (we, the
tax payers foot this bill). Hill has more than 30 deputies than
his predecessor and this begs the question: What are these people doing? They are not acting as bailiffs or front door security all day long, so what gives with this? That department is over-staffed and under-utilized and the community is lacking.
Have you ever seen Sheriff Hill walking in a neighborhood and
talking to children or their parents? No? You can say that this
is not the job of the sheriff. What is wrong with going outside
the box and becoming visable and showing the community that
there is so much more one can do? I would welcome this sort
of pro-activity and this is exactly what Louis Dominguez is all
about. This man will be all over the place, listening to you and
seeing what he can do to help. He is a true “foot soldier” and
will help us in getting our neighborhoods back. I am so excited
about this man and his ethics, honesty and know-how, what
a travesty it would be not to vote for him!
Lafayette, I realize that some have branded you as being
under the influence of Greg, but let me tell you this: I do so
admire you for your automony when it comes to your political
evaluations. I greatly admire you for your ability to do your
own thinking, analyzing all the data available and I especially
admire you in that you are an independent thinking individual.
As a Republican, I often wonder if I should be going in your
direction. Perhaps someday!
Mr Louis Dominguez certainly deserves a shot at improving the
sheriff’s department, don’t you think?
Gone Fishing,
You are absolutely right Mr. Louis Dominquez MOST CERTAINLY deserves a shot at improving the Sheriff’s Dept.!!! It took sometime to go back and find these satements from another thread, and hope ALL consider what we’ve said. This will help to your above well stated comments on the Sheriff’s Dept. This elevator incident is disgusting.
ALL,
Lafayette said on 8 Oct 2007 at 12:08 pm:
Miss T,
I’m usually going to the courthouse in middle of the day, and parking yes is tough even at that time of day. I only spoke for what I saw, and I certainly don’t think the golf carts have NEVER been used for the above mentioned reasons. I’m thankful for your comments regarding the golf carts. Again, I was only speaking for what I had seen, and I should’ve been clear about the time of day I usually go there.
We both now the Courthouse has had a much needed expansion. The reality is the Courthouse isn’t going to be moved in time soon. If our PWCBOS, is waffling on funding for Stirrup’s resolution, I’m sure they wouldn’t allow the move. We need the resolution. I agree, we don’t need the Courthouse moved. Manassas has been the county seat for a very long time now.
Fed Up 2,
I do know Luis, and have my whole life. I’ve talked to Sherrif Hill, and in MY opinion he comes off as anything but honest. Cleaned up the Sherrif’s Dept. you say. How cleaned up does this sound to you? I was on the elevator last week with two deputies(on duty and in their uniforms). The were so busy talking all this trash talk about their weekend, and all the while using profanity. This is not MY idea of cleaned up. It really made me sick to that we are paying people like this, and they are represting my native county. I don’t think so. I was raised in a very Democratic neighborhood. I do NOT belong to the Republican or the Democratic party, and nor would I. We should all register as Independents as it’s been mentioned before on bvbl.
Dominguez sat at my table at the Committee of 100 meeting last Thursday, and he seems like a nice guy. How that qualifies him for the office of Sheriff, I don’t know. Moreover, many have learned that one does not go from Pot. News columnist to elected office.
Glen Hill has done a creditable job. We certainly don’t have the scandals that marked Stoffregen’s tenure, and he certainly has demonstrated no interest in becoming the Boss Hogg of PWC politics. He has earned reelection.
James Young, I respect your opinion, but I can tell you this:
Too many things have been kept under cover by this sheriff
that the public is not privvy to. Hill will never let any scandals
hit the press, but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
Dominguez is not going from being a columnist to that of
elected office, believe me. There is more to this man than
just writing a column. Check his background, please, James,
before you decide on whom you will cast your vote!
Please, gone fishing, tell us Dominguez’ background. Also, no matter who is elected, how does the Sheriff (or any supervisor) control the behavior of staff? Shouldn’t these type things be reported?
James Young: You should have leaned by now you don’t earn re-election by doing nothing and that is what Glen Hill has accomplished nothing.
We all know including you these so called scandals were all political (99% were investigated and were unfounded and the other 1% was dismissed)
Moving on to something even more important than the Sheriff’s race. Let’s address the ever pressing and important election down in the Woodbridge District, and that is the race for Supervisor. Chris Royse is the clear choice for the good of our entire county. He’s the lynchpin to seeing that the resolution is not water downed. Chris as the Woodbridge Supervisor we’ll now all of our hard work will not have done in vein. Check this article out.

Democratic candidate Frank Principi said two points of Royse’s four-point plan to stop illegal immigration would create a “police state.” What is he saying? Is he saying that the Rule of Law is the equivalent of a “police state”?
We need Chris Royse he will represent the county as whole very well. He will show us leadership not how to be a follower.

k.o’toole, of course, wrong doings should be reported, but
please know that in most departments of law enforcement,
there is a “brotherhood mentality”. A lot of quid pro quo, if
you will. Perfect example: recently a sheriff’s deputy was
discovered driving a sheriff’s vehicle with a suspended license.
Was this reported? No, because the deputy happens to be the
son of a high ranking officer at the jail. There are many other
examples I could give you, but it wouldn’t serve any purpose.
The mantra is “Cover up, cover up, cover up”.
Certainly a sheriff or supervisor cannot “control” behavior of
the staff, but can start by setting a good example - walk the
walk, not just talk the talk.
k.o’toole, I could give you a brief experience background of
Louis Dominguez citing only the things I know to be related to
law enforcement; there is so much more, i.e. his dedication to
public service and to making this country a safer place to live.
Louis, in the military, was assigned to research WMD. For 10
years, he was active duty, then was honorably separated from
the Army. He became a Medical Tech, returning to school at
night and on weekends to earn masters in Business and Public
Administration (with honors). I have addressed his rise at PW
Hospital from Med Tech to Chief Med Tech, founding the lab
school and his work in Infection Control @PW Hosp.
He left health care to become a specialist in turnaround business
(taking a bankrupt operation and turning it into a profitable business). He was recruited by Washington to work for the
Crime Prevention Agency (DOJ). He implemented crime and
drug prevention programs in Great Britain, Canada, Panama and other countries. He has received international recognition
for his work.
Louis became a volunteer deputy under Wilson Garrison in the
early nineties (NO, HE DID NOT BUY A BADGE!). He is a certified FBI instructor and has been a guest lecturer at the FBI
National Academy in Quantico as well as other colleges and
universities and has written extensively in law enforcement
journals and magazines.
He has served as member of the crime prevention committee of
the International Assoc of Chiefs of Police and was named crime prevention chairman of the Crime/Loss Council of the ASIS. Both appointments are indeed prestigious recognition of
the knowledge and talents of Mr Dominguez.
When the PWC sheriff’s office became politicized, Louis resigned and went to work as a volunteer in the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office. He was so well liked by the sheriff and
staff, he was hired as a member of the command staff. His
accomplishments in Fauquier County are well known nationally,
honored for his work by appearing on the cover of Sheriff magazine with his team which is the only time than any Virginian has ever been so recognized. I could go on, but
won’t, because it is my opinion that I have given you enough
facts about this unique individual that you will be capable of
seeing that he is the right man for us to have in the office of
the sheriff.
Lafayette,If I lived in that district, I most certainly would vote
for Royce. He will win, don’t worry about that.
Don’t get cocky here. Chris needs support in order to win. Nothing is in the bag until the results are in on November 6th. If you can help, do so.
By the way, Lafayette, I believe the sheriff’s race is also
important.
Come on now, Mr Greg….I’ve been called worse names
than “Cocky”. I will do anything I can to assure than Royce
is elected.
Gone Fishing,
You know I believe the Sheriff’s race is important too!!!!
I just wanted to get the word out on Mr. Royse. I will be helping Chris R out this Saturday. He’s the ONLY choice down there.
Gone Fishing,
I think Greg’s statement means we can NOT become complacent on the candidates that are the clear choice as winners. We must all support Mr. Royse. I will be helping out myself this weekend, and we all know I live in the BEST district in the county of Gainesville!!!
Greg,
“Cocky” come on now. Don’t get so fiesty, because we don’t support Glendell!! Honestly, COMPLACENT would’ve been a much word choice.
corr
much BETTER word choice.
Thanks for the defense, Lafayette. Glad I can count on you!
Gone Fishing,
Anytime! Look at THIS. I know you will love it!

Parole violator escapes, is apprehended
By ELISA A. GLUSHEFSKI
eglushefski@manassasjm.com
Thursday, October 25, 2007
A Lake Ridge-area man arrested for violating parole escaped custody Wednesday, sending officers from several law enforcement agencies on a two-hour search.
Matthew Scott Jones, of 12905 Titania Way, was charged with felony escape from custody after he was captured around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Sgt. Tim Neumann, Manassas police spokesman.
The series of events began when a Prince William County Sheriff’s deputy arrested the 23-year-old Jones at his home and was taking him to the Prince William-Manassas regional jail.
On the way to the detention center, the deputy stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Signal Hill Road and Fairview Avenue in Manassas, and Jones - who had freed one of his hands from the handcuffs - reached through a window that was rolled down halfway, opened the door from the outside and fled on foot down Signal Hill Road, Neumann said.
Sheriff’s deputies and Manassas and Prince William County police set up a perimeter, Neumann said, and began a search.
After an officer saw Jones running near the dead end of Windsor Avenue, when a Fairfax County Police Department helicopter began circling the area, it apparently made Jones feel like he had to move from where he was hiding, Neumann said.
“The helicopter pretty much spooked him,” Neumann said. “He started to jump over the fence and it just happened to be where one of the deputies [was].”
Jones is being held without bond and has a Nov. 19 court date.
**
Windsor Avenue is a very quiet street and so is Tudor lane where the helicopter “spooked him”. This is just a block and half from MCPD, too. Oh, not more than a mile and half to the jail.
According to Prince William County General District Court records, Jones has been found guilty of several charges including petit larceny and assault and battery.
Calls made to Prince William County Sheriff Glendell Hill were not returned.
Lafayette, amazing! I wonder if the schools were locked down?
Was the public notified? Things like this constitute such a grave
danger to the safety of us all.
Another example of “cover up, cover up, cover up”!
Sheriff Glendell Hill did not return calls? Was he on the golf
course? No….it was raining, so he was probably “sleeping in”.
Asleep at the wheel, as usual.
Gone Fishing,
I knew you’d be all over this one. I hope the people read that story. I posted in on another thread too. This is a wake up call citizens. I hope you reading about Glendell.
Ironic, isn’t it, about the JM endorsement of Glendell Hill in
the same edition as that of the escapee….tiny little item.
BTW, Lafayette, I spent the afternoon with friends in Warrenton
yesterday and learned that last week, ICE desended on the
town checking for “undocumented workers”…and as a result,
some fast food places closed down for the day!! I wasn’t able
to get the full details, but this is good news.
