Ironic, isn't it, about the JM endorsement of Glendell Hill in
the same edition as that of the escapee....tiny little item.
BTW, Lafayette, I spent the afternoon with friends in Warrenton
yesterday and learned that last week, ICE desended on the
town checking for "undocumented workers"...and as a result,
some fast food places closed down for the day!! I wasn't able
to get the full details, but this is good news.

Lafayette, amazing! I wonder if the schools were locked down?
Was the public notified? Things like this constitute such a grave
danger to the safety of us all.
Another example of "cover up, cover up, cover up"!
Sheriff Glendell Hill did not return calls? Was he on the golf
course? No....it was raining, so he was probably "sleeping in".
Asleep at the wheel, as usual.

Here’s what the MJM is reporting. Please, note calls to Sheriff Glendell Hill were NOT returned. Hmmm.
Boy, I sure can’t wait til Gone Fishing she’s this one.
Parole violator escapes, is apprehended
By ELISA A. GLUSHEFSKI
eglushefski@manassasjm.com
Thursday, October 25, 2007
A Lake Ridge-area man arrested for violating parole escaped custody Wednesday, sending officers from several law enforcement agencies on a two-hour search.
Matthew Scott Jones, of 12905 Titania Way, was charged with felony escape from custody after he was captured around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Sgt. Tim Neumann, Manassas police spokesman.
The series of events began when a Prince William County Sheriff’s deputy arrested the 23-year-old Jones at his home and was taking him to the Prince William-Manassas regional jail.
On the way to the detention center, the deputy stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Signal Hill Road and Fairview Avenue in Manassas, and Jones - who had freed one of his hands from the handcuffs - reached through a window that was rolled down halfway, opened the door from the outside and fled on foot down Signal Hill Road, Neumann said.
Sheriff’s deputies and Manassas and Prince William County police set up a perimeter, Neumann said, and began a search.
After an officer saw Jones running near the dead end of Windsor Avenue, when a Fairfax County Police Department helicopter began circling the area, it apparently made Jones feel like he had to move from where he was hiding, Neumann said.
“The helicopter pretty much spooked him,” Neumann said. “He started to jump over the fence and it just happened to be where one of the deputies [was].”
Jones is being held without bond and has a Nov. 19 court date.
**
Windsor Avenue is a very quiet street and so is Tudor lane where the helicopter “spooked him”. This is just a block and half from MCPD, too. Oh, not more than a mile and half to the jail.
According to Prince William County General District Court records, Jones has been found guilty of several charges including petit larceny and assault and battery.
Calls made to Prince William County Sheriff Glendell Hill were not returned.

Gone Fishing,
I think Greg's statement means we can NOT become complacent on the candidates that are the clear choice as winners. We must all support Mr. Royse. I will be helping out myself this weekend, and we all know I live in the BEST district in the county of Gainesville!!!
Greg,
"Cocky" come on now. Don't get so fiesty, because we don't support Glendell!! Honestly, COMPLACENT would've been a much word choice.

k.o'toole, I could give you a brief experience background of
Louis Dominguez citing only the things I know to be related to
law enforcement; there is so much more, i.e. his dedication to
public service and to making this country a safer place to live.
Louis, in the military, was assigned to research WMD. For 10
years, he was active duty, then was honorably separated from
the Army. He became a Medical Tech, returning to school at
night and on weekends to earn masters in Business and Public
Administration (with honors). I have addressed his rise at PW
Hospital from Med Tech to Chief Med Tech, founding the lab
school and his work in Infection Control @PW Hosp.
He left health care to become a specialist in turnaround business
(taking a bankrupt operation and turning it into a profitable business). He was recruited by Washington to work for the
Crime Prevention Agency (DOJ). He implemented crime and
drug prevention programs in Great Britain, Canada, Panama and other countries. He has received international recognition
for his work.
Louis became a volunteer deputy under Wilson Garrison in the
early nineties (NO, HE DID NOT BUY A BADGE!). He is a certified FBI instructor and has been a guest lecturer at the FBI
National Academy in Quantico as well as other colleges and
universities and has written extensively in law enforcement
journals and magazines.
He has served as member of the crime prevention committee of
the International Assoc of Chiefs of Police and was named crime prevention chairman of the Crime/Loss Council of the ASIS. Both appointments are indeed prestigious recognition of
the knowledge and talents of Mr Dominguez.
When the PWC sheriff's office became politicized, Louis resigned and went to work as a volunteer in the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office. He was so well liked by the sheriff and
staff, he was hired as a member of the command staff. His
accomplishments in Fauquier County are well known nationally,
honored for his work by appearing on the cover of Sheriff magazine with his team which is the only time than any Virginian has ever been so recognized. I could go on, but
won't, because it is my opinion that I have given you enough
facts about this unique individual that you will be capable of
seeing that he is the right man for us to have in the office of
the sheriff.

k.o'toole, of course, wrong doings should be reported, but
please know that in most departments of law enforcement,
there is a "brotherhood mentality". A lot of quid pro quo, if
you will. Perfect example: recently a sheriff's deputy was
discovered driving a sheriff's vehicle with a suspended license.
Was this reported? No, because the deputy happens to be the
son of a high ranking officer at the jail. There are many other
examples I could give you, but it wouldn't serve any purpose.
The mantra is "Cover up, cover up, cover up".
Certainly a sheriff or supervisor cannot "control" behavior of
the staff, but can start by setting a good example - walk the
walk, not just talk the talk.

Moving on to something even more important than the Sheriff's race. Let's address the ever pressing and important election down in the Woodbridge District, and that is the race for Supervisor. Chris Royse is the clear choice for the good of our entire county. He's the lynchpin to seeing that the resolution is not water downed. Chris as the Woodbridge Supervisor we'll now all of our hard work will not have done in vein. Check this article out.
http://www.potomacnews.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=WPN%2FMGArticle%2FWPN_BasicArticle&c=MGArticle&cid=1173353211646&path=!news
Democratic candidate Frank Principi said two points of Royse's four-point plan to stop illegal immigration would create a "police state." What is he saying? Is he saying that the Rule of Law is the equivalent of a "police state"?
We need Chris Royse he will represent the county as whole very well. He will show us leadership not how to be a follower.

Democratic candidate Frank Principi said two points of Royse’s four-point plan to stop illegal immigration would create a “police state.” What is he saying? Is he saying that the Rule of Law is the equivalent of a “police state”?
We need Chris Royse he will represent the county as whole very well. He will show us leadership not how to be a follower.

James Young: You should have leaned by now you don't earn re-election by doing nothing and that is what Glen Hill has accomplished nothing.

We all know including you these so called scandals were all political (99% were investigated and were unfounded and the other 1% was dismissed)

Please, gone fishing, tell us Dominguez' background. Also, no matter who is elected, how does the Sheriff (or any supervisor) control the behavior of staff? Shouldn't these type things be reported?

James Young, I respect your opinion, but I can tell you this:
Too many things have been kept under cover by this sheriff
that the public is not privvy to. Hill will never let any scandals
hit the press, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.
Dominguez is not going from being a columnist to that of
elected office, believe me. There is more to this man than
just writing a column. Check his background, please, James,
before you decide on whom you will cast your vote!

Dominguez sat at my table at the Committee of 100 meeting last Thursday, and he seems like a nice guy. How that qualifies him for the office of Sheriff, I don't know. Moreover, many have learned that one does not go from Pot. News columnist to elected office.

Glen Hill has done a creditable job. We certainly don't have the scandals that marked Stoffregen's tenure, and he certainly has demonstrated no interest in becoming the Boss Hogg of PWC politics. He has earned reelection.

Gone Fishing,
You are absolutely right Mr. Louis Dominquez MOST CERTAINLY deserves a shot at improving the Sheriff's Dept.!!! It took sometime to go back and find these satements from another thread, and hope ALL consider what we've said. This will help to your above well stated comments on the Sheriff's Dept. This elevator incident is disgusting.
ALL,

Miss T,
I’m usually going to the courthouse in middle of the day, and parking yes is tough even at that time of day. I only spoke for what I saw, and I certainly don’t think the golf carts have NEVER been used for the above mentioned reasons. I’m thankful for your comments regarding the golf carts. Again, I was only speaking for what I had seen, and I should’ve been clear about the time of day I usually go there.
We both now the Courthouse has had a much needed expansion. The reality is the Courthouse isn’t going to be moved in time soon. If our PWCBOS, is waffling on funding for Stirrup’s resolution, I’m sure they wouldn’t allow the move. We need the resolution. I agree, we don’t need the Courthouse moved. Manassas has been the county seat for a very long time now.
Fed Up 2,
I do know Luis, and have my whole life. I’ve talked to Sherrif Hill, and in MY opinion he comes off as anything but honest. Cleaned up the Sherrif’s Dept. you say. How cleaned up does this sound to you? I was on the elevator last week with two deputies(on duty and in their uniforms). The were so busy talking all this trash talk about their weekend, and all the while using profanity. This is not MY idea of cleaned up. It really made me sick to that we are paying people like this, and they are represting my native county. I don’t think so. I was raised in a very Democratic neighborhood. I do NOT belong to the Republican or the Democratic party, and nor would I. We should all register as Independents as it’s been mentioned before on bvbl.
