By Greg L | 19 October 2007 | Illegal Aliens, Prince William County | 90 Comments

This cartoon appeared in today’s Washington Times, and hopefully it represents a real positive impact that should result from the recent actions of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors.  As far as the opposite effect of illegal aliens leaving, that certainly seems to be the case.

Yes, for all you folks disgusted with what has happened to Arlington County, Alexandria and Montgomery County, Maryland as a result of their coddling of illegal aliens, come on down to Prince William County!  We’ve got a lot of inexpensive housing that’s being made available, and we’re cleaning up the very problems that have been concerning you.

    The Patriot,
Notice how the “day laborers” were told to engage in constructive dialogue. That’s exactly what’s happened here in PWC. I hope the rest of our great nation is planning to follow suit.
To those living in ILLEGAL LOVERS jurisdictions,
There are plenty of decent homes for sale at very affordable prices. Heck, the banks are buying them $30-$80K below the balance they are owed. The quality of life is improving. Come join us!

Northerner - if you lived here, if you understood and had seen the problem in the first place, you’d have a clue. They are leaving. The balloon loans taken out by illegals in 2005 (after Congress’ cowardly decision to sneak a decision allowing banks to take Matricula Consular Cards as IDs for loans into a defense bill in late 2004 - bunch of elitist whores) coming two years due has something to do with it, the decrease in construction has something to do with it. And the resolution clearly has something to do with it.

Whereas four months ago it looked like an invasion and 40-50% of people around here were obviously illegal, now it’s down to more like 20% and life is much quiter and less congested already. Many of us see the change, every day, in many ways.

Well, come down here and look around - there’s less of a problem here than there was a few months ago.

I see a lot of talk about what free market economics is or isn’t is another thread. The problem is, free market economics aren’t supposed to supplant national law and sovereignty. Wages would be up had the law been enforced. El Scumbagato President Bush deliberately sought not to enforce it, favoring a greater degree of global free market capitalism, at the American worker’s expense. (Yeah, the arguement is that as consumers we benefit. But when we start living next to housefuls of illegals, some of whom are complete jerkoffs, that arguement starts to seem unimportant).

The rich wanted to ram amnesty down our throats but not enough people fell for their disinformation and facile arguements. Our political elites created this problem, deliberately. I hate them. Both parties. I will never forget the Amnesty votes of the last two years and what these people tried to do to America in their quest for greater profits.

Indeed it is progress if more illegals leave and are replaced by those that are not illegal. Maryland can have the free loading illegals, and we will welcome people from Maryland who are not illegal and respect the rule of law. I think that is a good outcome to all of this.

Rick: You and I think a lot alike. I like your attitude.

The illegals in the park are still out in force calm as Hindu cows. I see no difference in the number of Hispanic faces that I see in this town now compared to 6 months ago. Sorry guys, but from where I sit I see no change.

Anonymous: Like it or not Hispanic is synonymous with illegal alien now. It is not a racist thing. Just because they happen to be brown makes no difference at all to me. If we were being overrun by Frenchmen and I was next to two people speaking French, then I would have to assume that there was a pretty good chance that they were illegal. The brown skin is a crutch that your crowd leans on to make this a racist issue. If Hispanics don’t like ‘the look’ from people when they are out in public then maybe they should start getting on the right side of things and clean up the mess that they created.

park’d - here’s hoping they start moving away in your neck of the woods too. How long have they been there? The balloon loans these banks asininely made to illegals tend to come due in two years, and then it’s foreclosure city.

Rick: the town pretty much converted almost overnight about 3 years ago. Within a year the town became about 80% Hispanic and I know a strong amount of those are here illegally.

MPR: Why not? Manassas Park has been picking my pockets to pay for these bums now for over 3 years. 4k a year in taxes on a house I might be able to give away for $275k now which at one time (before the invasion) was worth about $375k. Absurd.

The foreclosures will continue you another good year. The last busy year of loans was 2005, most ARM’s and Balloon’s from that time will become due in 2-3years. There will be more next year again, and it’s very sad to say. I saw one Auctioneer a couple of weeks go holding 45 Trustee Sales, and nobody was there to bid on a single one.
Well, now is the time to get our teachers and first responders living back in the county they got priced out of due to GREEDY ILLEGAL ALIENS!!

Laffy: I agree with you on bringing in those teachers and police. The problem is that the park and surrounding areas have a VERY bad reputation as being full of illegals and nobody wants to live here because of that. It will take a serious exodus in order to change peoples’ perception of that and I don’t see that happening for at least a few years; and then we have to worry about Hillarah or Osama Obama being elected and just giving them all amnesty. If that happens then we had all better learn Spanish because that will be the end of American culture as we have known it for the past 200 years.

    Lafayette,
You are right about the busy time line and the CREATIVE FINANCING with the arms , interest only loans, prepayment penalties, etc..

I have to add that it was because of greedy and UNEDUCATED people period that have caused this problem and not just here where we live.

There were a lot of people that were flipping houses, which they fixed up and made them worth more causing the spike (in worth) which also made the market go up and all of a sudden people had equity that they could PLAYwith, such as people who used their houses as ATM machines for a TEMPORARY way out due to lack of handling money, such as refinancing to pay for credit card debt.( I say that because I saw the payoffs for settlements, etc) I blame the lenders too.

Many news organizations have portrayed PW County as having the toughest anti-illegal alien laws in the country. That is possibly debatable (Oklahoma and Arizona) but, never-the-less, a very desirable and effective portrayal. My hope is that the City of Manassas publicizes that it too is following the same direction as PW County.

Yes the lenders MUST NOT be left out of the equation. We must also, remember the GREEDY loan officers, brokers, and yes real estate agents. I was told by one Realtor, who I’ve seen cry at two PWCBOS meetings over PWC no longer being welcoming of ILLEGALS. He told me over half of the purchasers never even saw the house for the first until after the settlement and were handed the keys.

    A little history-
Testimony of Barbara Jordan (D-Texas), Chair,
U.S. Commission on Immigration Reform -
Before the U.S. House of Representatives -
    February 24,1995.
“First, we set forth principles. We are a nation of
immigrants committed to the rule of law. The
Commission believes that legal immigration has
strengthened the country and continues to do so.
We as a Commission denounce the hostility that
seems to be developing toward all immigrants.”

“To make sense about the national interest in
immigration, it is necessary to make distictions
between those who obey the law and those who
who violate it. Therefore, we disagree, also,
with those who label our efforts to control illegal
    immigration as somehow inherently anti-immigrant.
    Unlawful immigration is unacceptable”

  37. Big Dog said on 19 Oct 2007 at 9:43 pm: Flag comment

Congresswoman Jordan added on March 29,1995 -

“There are no quick fixes to our immigration problems,
there are no inexpensive solutions. For too long,
we have neglected immigration as a public policy
issue and now must pay the price.”

This was a clear and present problem over a decade
ago and Washington,of course, ended up doing nothing.
There is now an even higher price to pay.

We love this one. The Internal Revenue Service takes a dim view of employers paying their illegal labor in un-reported cash. That agency offers rewards for information that leads to the collection of federal income taxes that are not paid on these wages.

Many landscape and construction contractors withdraw large sums of cash each week to pay the labor responsible for lowering American wages. They then depend on your tax dollar to provide social services for the worker.

Here is a downloadable IRS form to report tax cheats who hire illegal alienshave fun. We do. Best part? There is a possibility of the criminal employer going to prison.” www.thedustininmansociety.org - click on “what you can do”

Yes, I’ve noticed the names of the realtors. I’ve seen 3 people look at the house next door to my mom’s, and they didn’t appear to be the recent “invaders” of lately. One of them had also been to look at the recently listed “Former Colgan” house. That house apparently now has 6 bedrooms(half the rec. room=bedroom). Well, at least those little chicks are gone from there. Well, there’s one good thing for PCE!
I’m not sure which house you are talking about acrosS from the Colgan’s there are two that were sold in 2005. Can you give me last 2 digits of address? (We try to use last digits when we are all so familiar with WestGate/Sudley-Patty, Dolph and myself)
How about this crazy sale on my block on 3/21/07 for $455K!!?
There were larger nicer models that couldn’t be sold for $330K.
If you are as familiar as you seem the house on block is #26.

I’m pretty sure we’re talking about same one#06. Anyways, here are some details on #06. Purchased 11/21/05 for $475K.
100% financing. 2year balloon arm due 12/07, interest could double overtime, the principal must also start being paid back 12/07 too. This was one of the all time BEST prices for a house in WestGate, and I think there were less than five that sold for more. Well, it looks like they are at least trying to ditch it before the bank could potentially take it back, and I say that due to the number of foreclosures COUNTY WIDE!!. The foreclosure are ALL over, and yes this includes the two cities as well.

I have a large number of asking prices for the Sudley/Westgate/Manassas area going back to 2005. Was keeping them for reference as I was thinking of moving back then. It is unbelievable what the average asking price was and there were people bidding up the price as they tried to purchase them.

The guy who bought for $455 also owns one in MP and one near Woodbridge. He evidently owns a painting company. Gee, I wonder who he is renting to? Loans are Interest-only ARMS. Business must be good with cheap labor. Latino realtors will have a spouse or relative that acts as the mortgage broker to get the loans. Some Latino realtors have opened their own title company. Consequently, everything is kept in-house. Quite possibly, like in this case, the rent must be good to keep up all of these payments.

A 22-year-old Woodbridge man was charged with fraudulently enrolling at Freedom High School, 15201 Neabsco Mills Road in Woodbridge, around 9 a.m. Thursday, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman

Gerson Gamaliel Flores Alfaro, of 14784 Tamarack Place, was charged with possession of marijuana on school property, forging a public document and having a false birth certificate, Hernandez said.

Police said a school resource officer was investigating an incident in which a student had drugs on school property, and found out that the student had fraudulently enrolled in school, Hernandez said.

This is how a lot of drug dealing and gang recruiting is done. Most 15 year old can’t organize a trip to the store -

    One Voice,
That makes a lot o sense. What are we to do? There has got to be better checks when it comes to enrolling in our schools. We have got to stop the back door flow.

Thanks, for the info and above link. I will be checking them out a little later today. You are the same anon as last night, right?
Thanks for the addition to the end of “anon”.

Redawn - agree. Our schools are not even controlled by us - they are controlled by the feds. We have students enrolling from DC and other places because they’ve been kicked out of their schools. They are shipped here to live with “aunts”. The schools hands are tied by federal laws.

We need to get them back. Have you ever asked why we have “traditional”schools in PWC? Traditional means you have to do the work assigned, dress nicely and be respectful. Political correctness has relegated reform schools to normal and now what WE would consider normal is called traditional with huge waiting lists.

I have to stop. This nonsense makes me rant! :)

    One Voice,
It’s okay, it should make us ALL rant! :) This is crazy, this needs to be addressed. If not for anything else but safety measures. We are required by law to send our children to school and their are MANY of us that do not have the funds to send our kids to private schools or home school.
I am well aware of the aunts, etc., using friends addresses to go to a certain school. We all know that kids are impressionable and this is scary.

*there are many (I get to upsetat times and need to SLOW down..sorry)

  68. One Voice said on 20 Oct 2007 at 11:16 am: Flag comment

These kids going to their aunts have been convicted of something somewhere as juveniles. Since their records are sealed, our schools can’t find anything out about them.

Not everyone has the money to send their kids to private schools - true, but most people will pay extra for a house in an neighborhood with good schools. I think that’s the same thing as paying tuition. Then you have to fight for your neighborhood.

I am very interested in how the “traditional” school concept came about and what regulates that. There should be a movement to convert all our schools to that mode of operation and end up with a few reform schools.

For some reason we persist in enabling all kinds of people. There is a balance between courtesy and kindness and enabling.

redawn, thank you for posting the link to the youtube video clips about Arlington. I certainly understand Raea Leinster’s concern about competition for her work as a licensed contractor, but I was bothered by some things, among them:

    1. She mistranslates many things from Spanish and in several cases creates a misleading impression of what was said.

    2. She appears to believe that only county government can commission a professional looking sign.

    3. She states at one point that the mainstream media has not covered the illegal immigration issue. That statement is so preposterous, both in terms of local and national media, that she must either not ever read or watch the news, or the paint fumes have gotten to her. I realize the youtube video was made back in May, but that makes no difference. There has been tremendous news coverage of this issue, including extensive local coverage of controversies over day labor sites.

    4. She states that she couldn’t find any citizens (her term) from the Arlington dog park to comment. This is because she asked around and they all declined. She apparently felt it was ethically necessary to ask citizens if they would consent to appear, and didn’t even film their declining, but felt it was unnecessary to obtain consent or even be clear about her purpose with anyone else she talked to. It should be one way or another. Either be up front with everyone and gain consent, or be the guerrilla filmmaker and shoot the Arlingtonians too without consent (at least shoot them saying they wouldn’t talk to you.) She also appears to have a rather limited way of explaining why they refused.

But thank you very much again for posting this. Youtube is a really amazing resource.

    One Voice,
So where do we start, if it is on a federal level? I am still learning everyday by asking :WHY?
I understand what you are saying as far as paying more for housing to be in a good school district. I also would say that becasue of boundary changes too, some of us are stuck.
I feel as a parent, we do everything to keep our kids from hanging out with the wrong crowd, etc. things we are able to do outside of school.
It is just sickening that we have no control while they are at school. I understand kids are going to do the best they can to get away with whatever they can at school behind thier parents back at times, but to have this huge influence lurking in our schools too? Old enough to buy alcohol, old enough to manipulate, even.

An important fact left out is that at the time these licenses are issued (if in fact it ends up that way), a motor voter form will be included to register to vote. The Guv has a state-wide revolt starting against him including members of his own democratic party. Most DMV offices say they will refuse to issue licenses to illegals. The NY state senate is supposed to take up the matter on Monday. Watch Lou Dobb on CNN at 6:00pm. He has been reporting this for the last week and has been slamming the Guv hard.

point 2: Who else would be would be allowed to post such signs?Who could we ask?

    point 3: Totally agree

point 4: you make a very good point as far as being fair, consistent and credible.

    Thank you.

    Leila,
By the way, when I said I loved the last statement in part 4, I think it showed how legal business owners, trying to do the right thing feel and are frustrated. I do understand that 2 wrongs don’t make a right, but it was good to see how others may feel with the double standard.

  74. One Voice said on 20 Oct 2007 at 11:40 am: Flag comment

I would start with the traditional school concept. Why is that not the standard?

Dr. Walts has said that he wants to take the IB program to all schools from elementary to HS. This program is not only on higher level it is a motivator as well. Most children will live up to or down to whatever expectation is made of them. The instructors are also as motivated and are trained to recognize that what is an A for one is a B for another and both are rewarded equally for reaching their potential. I thought that was good news from him.

Regarding the screening process - it appears it is all site based. Maybe it needs to be centralized to at least standardize the process. I would like to examine what was submitted for that 22yr old that was admitted and work backwards from there. Without information like that, it is hard to figure out what went wrong or un-noticed.

I think this might also be a good project for Jeff Frederick. I have found him to be extremely responsive and genuinely interested in his consituents comments. He also strikes me as a Type A that would pick a problem like this apart. He would be able to tell us where to begin.

  75. redawn said on 20 Oct 2007 at 12:01 pm: Flag comment

    One Voice,
I agree in starting with the documents that were presented and working backwards. The screening process should be centralized,I thought they were.
Why is it that the school documents are sealed from one school to the next? I thought transcripts of grades, behavior, etc., were always of record and then sealed when that student reached the age of 18.
I guess I have a lot to learn.

    Redawn
Just sent this message off. I will post any responses I receive. These people have a huge responsiblity - my children, your child(ren) and they need to be reminded that we are not turning our children over to them, we are the primary educators, we make the decisions about what they study and as much as possible which school they attend. They are our public servants.

Ms. Rameriez, Ms. Covington and Mr. Frederick.
First of all, I can not figure out if Freedom is in the Woodbridge or Dumfries Magisterial District. It looked like Dumfries on the map, so I thought I would include both School Board Members.

I would really like to see what documentation was presented that permitted this man to be admitted to Freedom High School. This makes me wonder what else is going on unnoticed. I would really like a good explanation of what was submitted, what was questioned and how this won’t happen again. Terrorists have warned us that the schools are their target. This is the best we can do?

Mr. Frederick - I have written to you before on various subject and think that this is a good topic for you to consider during the upcoming session. The County simply must have better control over who is attending the schools. Honestly. I am not approaching this with any specific issue in mind however, MSRA, gang recruiters, drug dealers, sexual predators, shooters and terrorists all come to mind at once. This is my very first experience with a public school system after spending my educational career all in private schools. My son attended xxxxxxx from pre-school through 8th grade and is now a Junior at xxxx. The difference is remarkable. Our experience so far has been okay - but things like this will keep me up at night.

Homeland Security includes domestic terrorism. Our schools appear to be our weakest point. Stop taking risks with my child

The more public we make this, the more action we will get. That was clear from July10th on. Publicizing letters and responses are effective. That’s why it is so critical to keep the facts facts and the supposes supposes. Credibility is one very important key to long term influence. Influence is the greatest power….. I think.

Thank you BOTH One Voice and redawn. I can’t wait to see the responses. They sure got to jumping over the staph infection the other day. As a result all 72,000 students went home with a letter, and tips for parent on it. Our government needs to be aware the citizen’s are no longer going to be sitting back. We will be on top of things. It’s our schools, our elected officials, and we pay for them both, and want representation of our true needs.

    One Voice & Lafayette,

CREDIBILITY is the key! The facts must be kept as facts and if one is NOT sure, always ask WHY or do some research before jumping to the assumption of a certain incident. We all must work together for the good, we will prevail if we stay active and hold our elected representatives accountable.

Thank you to all who are active and doing so.This is how things get done.

Okay, you talked me into using something other than Anon.
Maybe I didn’t clearly state what I was trying to say. I was looking to move at that time but I did not. I have lived in the same house for 27 years so I guess I can be called “an old timer.” I have seen many changes in the Manassas, Westgate and Sudley area over the past 10 years and I’m sorry to say, most not for the better. I used to say to my wife “look at all of the crime in the eastern end of PWC, and said it would not be long before it arrived in the western end.” When you build, build, build and move people of all social and economic classes into massive townhouse and single family developments crime will follow. AND IT HAS! You may recall that there were only a few places to be avoided because of it’s reputation for crime; Coverstone and IronGate. These two areas are notorious for crime and have only gotten worse. Now there are other areas one tries to avoid because of the increased crime rate - Point of Woods and the Westgate appartment areas. It is not even safe to go the Manassas mall because of the muggings that occur there and I have not shopped at the Home Depot/Walmart off of Ballsford Rd in over 5 years because of the muggings there. We drive to Warrenton if we need to go to Walmart or the Home Depot. Maybe things will change with the passage of the resulation and maybe not. I am optimistic they will. Time will tell!

The student fraudently enrolled in school to sell drugs, hang with friends, be with his girl friend, or to get free food. It certainly wasn’t to get an education. It makes you wonder how often this happens. I have suspected for years that students were in school who were far older than records indicate.

There was one from a middle eastern country who came in with his brother after 9/11 and before we started bombing Afghanistan. Both of the students recorded their birthdays as 1/1/some year. 2 years apart. Perhaps they thought they were race horses? Nasty, hateful, agressive kids these were. They had lots of money and dressed like GQ. Now what would the average person think reading this?

Schools have to take kids if they have shot records or an exemption and proof of residency. Previous school records are obtained after the student is enrolled. If that student wasn’t attending school, how do you get the records?

You are right, the feds are calling the shots on most everything except paying the damn bill.

If there is such a long waiting list for traditional school enrollment, it makes sense to me to open another one. I guess this is too simple. This is an area that is not under federal control.

    Vigilant1,
Great screen name!! Thank you. You are indeed “an old timer”. You know the area as well as most natives I know. Your comments on Coverstone, Irongate, etc are well said. I really think WestGate/Sudley have improved since the early spring. The Zoning office came through and we were part of a “clean sweep”, as a result things are being addressed by PCE(Property Code Enforcement). However, there’s the due process for these violations that can take upto 6months befoe and significant action can be taken. This is entirely to long, but it’s based on state on laws for the due process. We need stiffer fines, laws, and enforcement of the Zoning and Building Codes!!
I remain hopeful and intent on seeing this area return to it’s once desirable quality of life! We must all these violations in. This is how actioin will happen. The county must investigate each and every call/complaint filed!

Do you remember one of the first “protests” last year included a very large group of “students” from FREEDOM HIGH SCHOOL.
Could it be that these 22 year old Hispanic students are put there for the sole purpose of leading these “protests.” It will be interesting if the gang task force looks into this case to see just who this “gentleman” is and what his exact purpose was.

Lafayette, no, I’m not the Anonymous from last night. I’ve only posted once before…to warn of the danger of assuming that the “power of 8″ is necessarily a victory for you.

I’ve been a resident of PW County since 1978…three years in Lake Ridge and the rest at my present home in the Independent Hill area. I’ve noticed very little change in the WestGate area since I’ve lived in the county….nothing that I haven’t experienced with nearby rental properties. All the over-crowded, trashy houses filled with loud neighbors near me have been occupied by whites so I have little fear of Hispanics. I can see the demographic change at Manassas Mall but it doesn’t stop me from shopping there. I’m a Yankee who grew up in the South so I’ve been out of my element before. I just consider it a learning experience.

I think the 22 year old in the high school was selling drugs and looking to hook up with an impressionable 16 year old. Why else would a loser like that go to high school? It’s apparent he can’t find someone his own age. What a loser he is. Hope they investigate him thoroughly and if a previous poster is right about driving without a license then maybe he can visit his friends in the lockup.

They should investigate to see if this 22 year old had a high school girlfriend. There maybe something else to that possibility if the girl was underage and if so, nothing more then just holding hands.
