I am also a veteran. You failed to point out that their are no “illegal” immigrants in the US armed forces (or should not be if background and security checks are truthful), only “legal” immigrants who are waiting for citizenship. They and all veterans deserve the utmost in respect. You should not use that political bent you have to protect “illegal” lawbreaking immigrants, as an excuse to be mad at people who in reality do not hate any legal veteran. You make a mistake and bad assumption when you try to associate people’s anger here with lawbreaking “illegal” immigrants, with some implied anger that they are also angry with “legal” immigrants and even worse imply they are angry with “legal” immigrant war veterans. I can assure you that is not the case with the vast majority of people against “illegal” lawbreaking on this blog. You as an honest veteran need to re-assess your position. “Illegal” immigrant support provides amnesty and sanctuary to invaders and illegal entry terrorists, something no war veteran should ever support if he loves his country. I believe you have made a grave mistake in assessing the “real” enemy here. You might be on the wrong side in this war.

Of course illegal immigration is not the only problem or issue we have. However, that does not mean we should just ignore the problem. Would it be wise to just focus on oil prices?

What is that line you liberals love to use? Think Globally, act locally? Well, we can clean up one street at a time by taking care of illegals. Less illegals mean less traffic, which means less use of gas, which means less oil used, which of course will mean lower prices for both oil and gas, since the demand will not be so great.

Take care of one street at a time, and we reduce the number of homes we need. Which means more open spaces, and less pollution and sprawl. Less pollution and sprawl means less traffic, which means less… gas….

So tell me again how the reduction of illegals is not a good idea for everyone? Well, everyone who does not support criminals.

I don’t think you’re going to find many liberals that are going to remind you guys not to forget 9/11, or who will compare illegal immigration and terrorist attacks.

That’s your party’s line, not ours. Not that we don’t honor the dead of 9/11 or any other terrorist attack, it’s just the Republican Party has used terrorism for the last 6 years to prove that they are the party that can “protect” Americans.

I thought it was very disturbing tonight during the Repub Presidential Debate that not ONE SINGLE question was asked re: illegal immigration. Tancredo interjected a blurb on them when he talked about the health care issue but no direct questions were asked on what these guys plan to do about this problem. This is very disturbing to me and tells me that these guys just don’t get how important an issue this is to the people and how it can affect their candidacy.

Illegal immigration is not in their problem set. They represent lifestyles where economic growth is a no-no. Places with few jobs have few illegal immigrants. Why don’t you economic growth jerks just send more money to Mexico if you want to keep out illegal immigrants? Pay them to stay home. This makes perfect sense to the PEC. The PEC represents people who are paying for their no growth lifestyles with your taxes, why not apply the same logic to Mexico?

William Day sure loves Clarendon (in Arlington County). He thinks PWC and Fauquier should be like Clarendon. Few cars, lots of walking and bike riding. The fact that Arlington has 8 times the population density of PWC and 100 times the density of Fauquier doesn’t trouble people like William Day. The county of Arlington even has 5 times the population density of the town of Warrenton. Get rid of your cars you polluting jerks - just walk. Be like Arlington. Do you wonder if Arlington has political wannabes like William Day who sit around comparing Arlington to Manhattan?

Your continued support of law breakers is simply amazing. If the Mexico Government really cared about their people, they would enact real economic reforms, rather then let us take care of their people. There simply is no excuse for what the Mexican Government has not done to improve the economic situation. Mexico is a very rich Nation, yet they do very little for their poor.

Stop blaming us, our Country, and our work ethic for the short comings of Mexico.

They don’t need to attack us (yet.) Just keep selling us poisoned tooth paste, poisoned food and don’t forget all of the products with lead paint and God knows what else we have yet to find. No, at this point they are doing a good job and don’t need to attack!

I notice you didn’t mention U.S. investment in China; however, I’ll assume you are familiar with the subject. Of course, I assume you are aware that China finances our deficit. Should they decide to stop buying our dollars, we would have a problem.

Did you know Holland is one of the largest (perhaps largest, depends on the day) investor in U.S. equity. Why aren’t they a problem?

Frankly, investing across borders generally enhances security for all (that whole don’t attack our customers’ thing) and entrepreneurship creates both jobs and wealth for investment. I’m kind of fond of peace as a policy and favor free trade to keep our children out of harms way (and I was a soldier for a few years during the “far east fling” so I have a little experience in this area.)

I’ll take free enterprise over war any day. Sound like a fair trade (no pun intended)?
