MJM Endorses Jackson Miller

By Greg L | 26 October 2007 | 50th HOD District | 25 Comments

Last year the MJM gave a rather lukewarm endorsement of Jackson Miller for Delegate of the 50th House District. This year, that endorsement became rock-solid given Miller’s hard work to fulfill his campaign promises and Jeanette Rishell’s abominable behavior during the campaign.  Will the last person to leave the Jeanette Rishell campaign please remember to turn out the lights?

It really should come as much of a surprise.  The MJM has published two editorials this election season decrying the false negative attacks that Rishell has repeatedly made.  Rishell’s claims that Jackson Miller has done nothing on the illegal alien issue are patently ridiculous, as few legislators in the House of Delegates got more bills passed in the House on this issue than Jackson Miller.  When confronted on her false claims, Rishell called on her campaign manager to pinch-hit, and he failed miserably in what may be the most embarrassing performance of a campaign staffer in Virginia this year.  Pathetic is the only way you can describe the Jeanette Rishell campaign.

Here’s what they have to say about Jackson Miller:

We endorse Miller for the 50th district of the Virginia House of Delegates.

We don’t always agree with Miller or his stand on several issues, but we have to give him credit for being true to himself.

He does not say one thing to win elections and then do something entirely different once safely planted in his seat.

Miller said he wanted to get tough on illegal immigration and he did his best to push through and support anti-illegal immigration legislation in the House of Delegates.

As for Rishell, they have this to say:

Miller’s opponent, Jeanette Rishell has shown, through false attack ads, that she cannot be trusted to pay attention to detail or get her facts straight.

And her positions on issues are often vague and weakly expressed.

This has got to be a real blow to Rishell’s chances on November 6th.  An endorsement this strong in the local paper that will do anything it can to promote the cause of illegal alien apologists such as Rishell whenever possible is very hard to overcome.  The only friends she appears to have left are in the editorial board of the Washington Post, and that’s not a very helpful endorsement in the 50th.

I notice you don’t call them the Urinal-Massager this time.

Unlike the COMPOST, who has managed to bash Virginia Republicans for supporting the transportation bill and for not supporting the transportation bill, and for a brain check endorsement of Jeanette, the MJM seems to have found their commonsense.

Who said anything about liking the MJM? Pointing out they have common sense is not exactly a term associated with like.

Good for the MJM. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while.

mike austin @2:03…you are absolutely correct, the JM did
get it right THIS time! What a wonderful endorsement of
    Jackson.
Legal2, I don’t fault you for not renewing your subscription…
I’ve never subscribed, but manage to pick one up almost each
and every day (what a waste of $$) however, this is going to
    change.
After the endorsement of Glendell Hill and the tiny, insignificant
reporting of the escaped convict, I should continue to read this
piece of trash every day, just for a laugh! Not even a mention
of the “missing in action” sheriff! Who is buying whom?
Seems it’s more important for JM to constantly be digging at
Corey Stewart than it is to report on something so serious as a prisoner escape in a highly populated area of our city and
    so close to schools!

Help Jackson Miller by voting for Bob Fitzsimmonds because all those wonderful bills Miller introduced were killed by the Senate. By the way you can thank Colgan for that. Colgan just loves to kill Miller’s bills and he will continue to do so.

That Miller was endorsed by the PN/MJM simply demonstrates what a whacko Rishell is. Sadly, it does not portend rational behavior by the squishes running those publications.

Greg, I’ve been waiting for you to do a posting about this:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/10/25/AR2007102502740_pf.html

They coined a term for the assaults, one that reflected the uniformity of the victims they selected: “amigo shopping.” The teenagers recorded some of the attacks with a cellphone camera, saving one of the videos under the file name “amigo,” a source familiar with the case said.

    (snip)

Hispanic immigrants are being targeted, often in gratuitously violent attacks by non-Hispanics, because they are thought to carry cash rather than use banks and to be reluctant to report crimes to police, the officials said.

    (snip)

The attacks are occurring with such frequency that police in Prince William County have created a task force, and Montgomery police have assigned a specialized unit to tackle the problem. The crimes are having profound effects in the neighborhoods where they occur, causing some residents to alter their routines.

    (snip)

When Negrete was killed, Prince William police had already noticed a spike in robberies of immigrants. The county’s crime rate in 2006 was the lowest in five years, but robberies were up 40 percent. Of the 351 reported, 83 percent were street robberies, many of which involved Latino victims.

GF - you can find MJM on line for free, if you must. Sometimes there are articles not (yet if at all) found in print.

Off topic - All Saints School added today as now having a case of the staph infection. Is it true that ALL schools so far affected have classrooms used by esol classes? Monday nights at ASS are completely filled by non-English speaking latinos.

Peace, if they go home, the robberies will go down, and the legal latinos will not have to be so worried. Hey, illegal aliens, GO HOME!

Legal2, thanks for the info on viewing MJM on line, this will
save me some money and the pain of going out on rain
    mornings!
I, too, have heard the news of the All Saints staph infection,
and yes, I believe it is true that the esol classes on Mon nights
are filled 100% by Latinos. We have to be careful here, because we shall certainly be deemed as “racist”, you know!

Peace needs to understand that many of the perpetrators are Hispanic and probably illegal. I’m sure Maureen Wood can give you statistics. She mentioned them at citizen’s time. Of course, Peace, you probably do not live around here. If you want to experience the illegal alien invasion up close and personal, there are a couple of houses I know of where you can spend the night - that’s if you have the guts to do it.

    Peace,

While I will not condone this type of criminal behavior, the fact the Washington COMPOST does not consider illegals to have broken the law, you have to wonder why they have their pink panties all in an uproar over this. If they are consistent, they would be just as outraged over the fact illegals have broken the law, and continued to break the law by being here.

But it does set up an interesting PC battle, since most of the robberies are done by blacks(at least in PW County as reported by the MJM) I bet the COMPOST has a difficult time deciding how to cover the stories….. Highlight crimes committed by blacks, or highlight the minority victim?

COM, where are you getting your statistics that most robberies are done by blacks?

I am glad to see this endorsement. I voted for Jeanette Rishell last year because she knocked on my door and seemed like such a nice person. This past year my son made the honor role at school and Jackson Miller sent him a very nice note congratulating him on his achievement.

I then had the opportunity to meet Jackson at the Fall Festival this year. He was just as pleasant as Jeanette, and I was so impressed that he would take the time to hand out balloons to the children here in Manassas Park.

I will give Jackson my vote this year. After meeting and hearing from him I do feel that he is more qualfied for the job. I just wish both of them will stop sending out the negative mail. Both of them seem so polite and above that type of negativity when you meet them in person.

MP Mom, you don’t want to vote for Jackson because he is
nice and friendly and takes the time out to pass out baloons to
the children…all this is true, but the reason to vote for Jackson
is because of his integrity, honesty and overall passion to work
for his people in Prince William County to the best of his ability.

Clearly she has spoken to him about the issues that matter to her and is voting for him.

Jackson Miller and Mr Colgan will be visiting Baldwin Elem. in Manassas City on Tues from 10 to 11. I am not exactly sure why, but I do welcome their visit. Thought you all might want to know.
