I am going to have to defend Greg. If you open your mouth you are going to offend someone. My kid rode the 'short bus' when he was a little guy. I probably learned the expression from him. There are many other expressions which convey the same meaning but are far, far more offensive. I was not offended, as the parent of an 'ex-short bus rider.'
