It’s refreshing to see the 9500Liberty folks finally put something like this up from the marathon session of the Board of County Supervisors meeting a few weeks ago. Although folks will probably be disturbed most this speaker’s concluding statement, I find the “Viva la Raza” (”Long Live The Race”) comment to be much more disturbing. Just imagine the outrage if someone had shouted “White Power!” or some other such equivalent nonsense at this meeting.

Much ado about nothing. The purpose of the statement was for shock value. Why did the supervisors buy into it by giving the woman what she wanted. They should have shrugged and moved on.
Might know Hilda was awake and alert for an illegal alien apologist. This chick is as off base as the translator was with her statements at the end of citizens. There was no shock value for me I heard so much of this crap that day.

I heard quite a few Hispanics speak before the board and talk about “MY PEOPLE.” Some said they were citizens of this country. This is what happens when citizenship is given away and not earned. There is no allegiance to their new country. Their heart belongs to their country of origin, as was very clear at citizens time. This is the biggest problem we have with handing out amnesty or allowing anyone from El Salvador or Cuba to come here and be handed legality upon arrival. These people are here to take what they can and they believe they have a right to do it, as was clearly shown during citizens time. We need to wake up the sleeping citizens of this country as to what is really going on.
This person was about idiotic to insult the supervisors in a professional forum. It’s amazing, everyone I saw that was pro-resolution was acting very professionally. However the anti-resolution crowd was less than professional for the most part.

In addition to ridding this country of illegal aliens, it’s time to remove the “protected status” of people who have been in this country because of a hurricane or earthquate that happened years ago. The only reason the “protected status” of these people keeps getting extended is because their home countries keep lobbying our government to keep them here in order to send their dollar remittances back home. Can we expect to see millions of more “protected status” individuals let into this country because of the recent floods in Mexico?

I hear really identify with you starryflights. I have heard many Hispanics citizens refer to “MY COUNTRY” after living here for 20 years and it irritates me to the core. I get the same feeling when Hispanics protest the anti-immigration policies by waving Mexico and El Salvador’s flags.

Oh Lord, the Irish are famous for holding on to the old country. It doesn’t bother me one bit. My husband is eligible for dual Irish citizenship because one of his grandmothers came here as a babe in arms from Ireland. My kids have hounded him to apply. They think it would be neat. They are very American, they just love their Irish roots and want to perserve them.

Adults should not only be held responsible for their actions, but they should also hold themselves responsible for the situations they put themselves in. I have a very difficult time understanding why ANYONE would actually want to remain in a country where they are abused, are treated unfairly, and receive such deficient medical care. I think everyone misunderstood what I said. I never said anything about a language. I have heard people that are from Central America identify themselves, some of the food they make and some of their customs are “Spanish” . I never said anything about a language because I realize the language they speak is Spanish.

I can see a legal Hispanic’s gripe about this whole issue though. The next step of asking legal status is passing legislation making it mandatory for them to put a star on their jackets or an armband to identify them as legal (Hitleresque version) (I know, I know .. apples and oranges). I really can’t think of a better way to go about it than the plan that is being enacted while not turning a blind eye to the matter. Anyone else with ideas that would be less offensive to legal immigrants?
I was home in my jammies and in bed watching the BOS meeting on Cable when this woman spoke. 45 minutes later I was dressed, signed up to speak at the BOS meeting and making a donation to Help Save Manassas.
I only wish I could have run into this woman so I could “kiss” her ass in my own special way. I too was offended more by the Viva La Raza than the profanity.
I have watched the entire replay of the BOS meeting — and I heard “my peeples” dozens of times.

How about the legal hispanics standing up visibly in public denouncing illegal immigration (like groups like “You Don’t Speak for Me”). That would be a great start. Additionally, how about not harboring illegal aliens (”aiding and abetting”). Bunk houses that have different people and cars coming and going throughout all hours of the day does NOT help their cause.

Here are some other things that are visible:
1. Assimilate into the American melting pot (don’t demand that our culture change to accomodate you…remember you must adapt to us just like everyone else).
2. Speak English (English has been our nation’s language since its beginning…200 plus years). No excuse for people living in our community for 15-20 years and still needing a translator.
3. Loyal ONLY to our U.S. Flag and Country.
These are very simple, easy to understand, and highly visible.
Blended families blur the lines between legal and illegal. Husbands and wives often are not both legal.
How about muslims standing up and denouncing terrorism? I haven’t seen much of that either. American muslims seem remarkably quiet on this issue. Yet to me, it seems much more clear cut.

Quite a few Pakistanis in the area add Urdu to some of the non-English being heard.
Krutis. I had to take a cultural diversity class recently and that is the current statistic. Not alot around here maybe but still parts of Pennsylvania (maybe they count Penn Dutch) and the mid west. I have family around the northern mid-west and there is a bit o’ German going on there.
I was surprised myself but then I recalled the German Public schools and even when I was a kid, the languages in HS were French, Spanish and German mostly.
Hispanics are for forensic purposes considered to be part of the caucasion sp? race. That is why I fail to understand La Raza. All of us, white and hispanic are actually the same race. Our divisions therefore are NOT a race thing, they’re a cultural thing.

I actually agree with you. Hispanic is a culture and should not be classified a race. If I remember correctly the mexican people were a combination of the spanish (which are european) and the native american peoples.
If you look at the various government forms you’ll likely see the following for race classification:
african american, caucasian (hispanic), caucasian (non-hispanic), american indian, etc..
so the “la raza” statement is pretty off base, in fact I would say it’s pretty racist.
The ghastly woman addressing the Supervisors reminds me of the woman I encountered at the Hess Gas Station the other week. This woman had positioned her car, while waiting in line at the gas pumps, so that only 1 other car had space to wait in the entire lot (there are 4 or 6 bays). I honked my horn so that I did not have to wait outside the lot, in the flow of traffic. She went balistic, and started screaming in Spanish at me. Who knows what she was screaming, but I can just imagine after viewing the woman’s meltdown at the Supervisors’ meeting.
They’re broken the law; this obviously sets the course. The behaviors we witness are just the beginning. In addition to their sense of empowerment, there is a lot of pent up anger, with no regard for laws and rules, and a blatant unwillingness to conform.
Actually, they have a regard for laws, when it comes to using them AGAINST us. But that’s the extent of it.

I’ve encountered similar circumstances, I was shopping at BJ’s one day and ready to pull into a parking spot and some hispanic woman came out of nowhere to snag the spot. She missed my vehicle by inches. She started spitting spanish at me and I couldnt understand what she was saying. So..I asked her if I should call immigration to figure this all out. She understood that, she got back in her vehicle and left..didnt even enter the store

I dont believe that the Irish dual citizenship is about allegiance for once minute. It is about roots. The fact that one CAN do this based on grandparents illustrates that many Americans (and probably people of other nationalities) care about the fact that they are Irish, which was my whole point.
My husband’s cousin (same grandmother) did apply for and receive the Irish citizenship. His was for economic reasons, however.

I hate the leadership of this city, Im not really a democrat or republican because I cant play this red team blue team crap. I need to look into the individual, but in this case, the democrats in charge of Alexandria (and they are all democrats) need to all go to siberia so we can get some people with common sense, and compassion for citizens more than illegals.
The mayor of alexandria made the illegal immigrant issue a racial issue by saying “we support diversity” when asked about illegal immigration. Also he was asked how much of city services go to illegals? He responded “we dont break down service by race” The leadership (lack thereof) of this city is making the situation worse by not treating it the way it is, but turning it into a racial issue.
If this rape is true I hope whoever did it (citizen or not) burns in hell, but if they are illegal they better be deported after serving a very long sentence. But I’ll bet this city will cover it up.

As far as Latinos vs. the “whites” there is actually no race card to be held. Hello! We are of the same RACE.! What I hold dear is the fact that my daughter should have a right to walk thru the neighborhood and NOT be harassed by men who should KNOW BETTER. Leila, I am far from having “lost it”. If you looked at party politics in Germany prior to WWII, you would see how an “ethnic” group rises to power. You don’t have to be a “majority race or majority ethnic group” to do it. Those who can’t see the warning signs are history blind. You could put this lady in that pre-war era and she would be right at home.
When you support this kind of ethnic polarization as this lady has when she militantly shouts “for La Raza” you might as well be hearing the words “Heil Hitler”. Those in the military who have studied military history clearly recognize the danger of any ethnic group supporting overthrow of another group, using militant tactics and militant words. I never said you had any link to La Raza. I did not use the term hate speech. The problem with the “kees my arse” lady is that she is racist and do not understand or care to understand American law. I hear no comments from Hispanics on the issue of breaking the law by illegally coming here. All countries have borders and laws that govern them, Hispanics care nothing about laws and their voices prove that.
