Wittman? hahahaha….you have got to be kidding. We have a worthless squish in Senator Richard Stuart and now, his twin brother from the Neck in Congressman Rob Wittman. For the trifecta, we will probably wind-up with Pollard back in the House of Delegates. It’s perfect for Stuart though, he gets the senate seat and his buddy Al Pollard goes to Richmond with him. Please tell me how this Republican team is better than the Dems, please, please? If the Dems had a credible candidate for congress, I would be tempted to vote for him.

Ducky,

Virginia will have a presidential primary on February 12th. I was told by a very reliable source it will then be followed by a convention for both the US Senate and the Presidential primary. Delegates at the convention will be bound by the results of the primary for the first ballot of the convention. If no one wins out right, then there will be subsequent ballots in the convention to settle the issue and delegates will then vote for anyone they want.

DREAM CANDIDATE
Several experienced Republican political hands are pushing former U.S. Solicitor General Ted Olson to run for the U.S. Senate seat in Virginia being vacated by Sen. John Warner. Former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner is seeking the Democrat nomination for the seat and is the prohibitive favorite to gain the seat.

Former Gov.Jim Gilmore, coming off of his mediocre management of the Republican National Committee and a failed presidential campaign, is the only Republican now thinking about seeking the seat. Rep. Tom Davis, whom many believed would run, announced recently, amid speculation that he will retire from Congress, that he will not seek the new job.

I read in the WaPost that Tom Davis will not be running for US Senator next year because of the fact that the Republican nominee will be decided by a convention. Evidently Gilmore is highly favored under a convention format. Frankly I don’t see Gilmore beating Mark Warner for Senator. Gilmore left this state in shambles.

Question: Is Virginia going to have an open Presidential primary next year, or will there be a convention? And when will it be?

Greg, his name is Wittman. You manage to misspell it every time.
Clean it up in ‘07 is right, which was the only reason why I didn’t support Wittman (personally, I liked Bowditch). If Pollard runs (and I see no reason why he wouldn’t), then he will win easily.

Well…with Wittman we hold the 1st Congressional Seat, but GUESS WHAT? Now we’ll lose yet another House of Delegate’s seat. Here comes the return of Albert Pollard.
