The Manassas Urinal-Massager has it’s knickers in a knot about unsubstantiated allegations of wrongful behavior at Stonewall precinct last Tuesday, and rather than wait and find out what actually happened here, decided it’s time to weigh in with their version of the facts and construct their own false, yet convenient reality. I wonder if they’ll be as equally willing to admit they were wrong about this once the investigation into these allegations determines that these claims are entirely without merit. Probably not, but it’ll be another good basis on which to continue whipping them for being such a lousy source of news and information.
But practically speaking, a group of people yelling that Hispanics will be deported if they are illegal is capable of striking fear in the hearts of even natural born Hispanic citizens. Intimidation is a powerful tool.
And there was no reason for the group to be there. It wasn’t necessary to have “citizens” standing vigilant at the polls. If you are not a legal citizen of the United States and a registered voter of Prince William County, then you cannot vote in the elections. It’s as simple as that.
The crowd of people at Stonewall Middle School were there for no greater purpose than to scare Hispanics away from voting.
I was there, and the only “crowd” I saw was a contingent from the illegal alien lobby and Jeanette Rishell campaign that alternatively wanted to get into people’s faces, and a befuddled Fox 5 television crew wondering what all the hubbub was that they had been called out to cover. The story here involves the questionable behavior of “translators” who “assisted” some non-English speakers in casting votes that the “translators” wanted them to make. There’s also a story here, which the MJM hasn’t bothered to cover of course, about a Spanish-language “sample ballot” that violated Virginia elections laws. Since there’s evidence regarding those stories, I guess they’re not worthy of coverage.
The MJM has no idea what they’re talking about. If one person makes some sort of unfounded complaint about voter intimidation, the guidelines go out the window and it’s time to tell MJM readers that some thin fantasy is fact. The MJM is little better than a blog at this point. Maybe they’re hoping that Lowell Feld will promote their stories to the front page at RK, and they needed to make an outrageous claim or two in order to get noticed.

I think you said you were there for 2 or 3 hours of the 13 that the polls were open. How do you know what did and did not happen? It seems if it does not fit your agenda then it must be false.
It is not a good thing to report as fact. You’re certainly correct to make that point. Glad that doesn’t happen around this site.

I was at Stonewall Middle from early afternoon till the polls closed. There were no riots, no yelling at Hispanics and no intimidation. There were some Hispanics that were accompanied by interpretors who casted votes for them.
The only intimidation I saw was the lady from 9500Liberty who got nasty with one of the workers who was handing out sample ballots from the Republican party. Nancy Lyall came later with her friend who owns the sign in Manassas. Also, there was a lady working the polls that had a sign on her van that said “Goodbye Stirrup” which was parked in the front parking lot near where people enter to vote. They made quite a crowd where the Democrat poll workers were standing.
Nobody was yelling at any Hispanics while I was there. I guess the MJM and the Potomac News are into fabrications. Well, it just goes to show you that you can not trust them to report the facts.
It is so sad that this area does not have a reliable newspaper.
The amazing thing is that you (Greg and Patty) seem to expect something different from the Pot News/MSM…this is simply more of the SOS that we see day-in and day-out.

Greg criticizes the paper for not waiting for the investigation to be completed; then goes on to state that the investigation will reveal that nothing happened. WTF?

I was at Stonewall from 5:00 am until 9:00 am. Nothing happened. There were between two and three Republicans there handing out sample ballots and literature and between five and eight Democrats doing the same. There was no yelling. There was no harassment, by either side.
I am struck by the complete lack of facts in the MJM’s coverage. There were election officials on hand running the polls all day. Did the MJM ask them what happened? FOX news was there part of the day. Did they ask their fellow journalists what happened? No - that would be too much like work.
The only “fact” in the entire piece is the fact that Betty Weimer heard rumors that something happened. I heard rumors too. About 8:30 the PWCRP sent two people over to check on rumors that the pro-illegal alien folks were bullying the poll workers into letting illegal aliens vote. I told them nothing of the sort had happened and they left, satisfied with the integrity of the vote.
That’s how you are supposed to do things. You hear a rumor; you try to verify it before you jump to collusions. But not our lovely MJM. Rumors are more fun and a heck of a lot easier to gather than facts.
The problem is this article is going to be translated and distributed to every Hispanic in the area – proof that the pro-law folks are out to get them. Never mind that it never happened. The media said it did, so it must have.
Ironically, Republicans are going to get blamed for sowing fear in our legal immigrant community.

I wasn’t intimidated in the least. I knew my address, had my driver’s license, and voter registration card. I heard of no intimidation at Stonewall.

I took another shot at them, hopefully it will do some good. Why read what I can read for free online? I cancelled it, I was tired of paying to see garbage I can get for free. That Gary Jacobsen really got under my skin though, hiring day laborers and then having the audacity for suing someone who hypothesized that they were illegal. Well, I have to ask an off topic question: Where is the Patriot? I haven’t seen him around in over a week.
Ok. Where did anyone prove that this so-called “voter intimidation” occurred? The PWC Registrar’s office said there were “rumours” that this occurred, yet no one can prove that it did. All that we know happened is the pro-illegal alien lobby is claiming something happened. The paper’s original NEWS article said as much.
Where the editorial staff has run off the rails is that in their opinion piece, they basically say that it DID happen, but offer no proof. All they do is repeat the quote from the Registrars office that said they heard “rumors”, and from this, report it as fact.
Here we have an editorial staff that rightly thrashed democratic candidates for making stuff up, and twisting the truth to suit their agenda, yet the MJM is guilty of the same thing. People need to call them on this.
What we do know is this…The MJM didn’t have anyone there to observe this, and is repeating heresay. Did they interview the election officials that were inside? No. Did they contact any of the campaigns to see if their poll workers saw anything? No. Did they contact the PWCDC or PWCGOP to see if they had seen anything? No. They just repeated a rumor. This isn’t journalism, it’s sensationalism.

Whoa - maybe because THAT is NOT how we were raised??? I recently was at my son’s soccer game and the parents for the other team were absolutely atrocious. The funny/sad thing is, when I asked my son if he can hear the things that the parent’s yell out onto the field, he said “No, it just sounds like mumbling.”

My observation is that Afro-Americans have a
long history of struggle in this country that included
harsh slavery and demeaning segregation. Part of the
“unfinished business” of our democracy is to redeem
the dreams of those that made that struggle. Many
see the focus now shifting to catering to recently

I was at the polls from 5:40 am until 7:30 pm, with three quick trips taking me away to do things for my children. The alleged intimidation against Hispanic voters DID NOT OCCUR. No one was shouting anything at anyone, with the exception of a SMS teacher who had absolutely no decorum or class yelling at a person for smoking a cigarette on school property.
I did witness the “translators” going into the polls on nine separate occasions with persons who could not speak English, presumably to assist them with voting.
A pro-illegal alien supporter did get in my face and demanded my name and other information about me. When I refused to give her the information, she stood across from me and stared at me and one other person for several minutes. I consider this a form of intimidation. I advised Nancy Lyall of the inappropriate behavior of one of her “crowd” when she arrived.
I also love how the MJM believe folks who are not allowed by law to vote do not vote.

I feel that the illegal issue is one that requires a fight to save the country, while I agree the ancestors of the people that were brought here as slaves did have dreams and ambitions, don’t you think that many of those dreams are being recognized with quotas for schools, pageants dedicated to their race only and a history month?

Frankly, I’m surprised we haven’t seen more trolls. It’s been pretty quiet, which has my spidey sense tingling.

The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.
Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.
Section. 4.
The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.
The Congress shall assemble at least once in every Year, and such Meeting shall be on the first Monday in December, unless they shall by Law appoint a different Day.
Section. 5.
Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members, and a Majority of each shall constitute a Quorum to do Business; but a smaller Number may adjourn from day to day, and may be authorized to compel the Attendance of absent Members, in such Manner, and under such Penalties as each House may provide.
Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.
Each House shall keep a Journal of its Proceedings, and from time to time publish the same, excepting such Parts as may in their Judgment require Secrecy; and the Yeas and Nays of the Members of either House on any question shall, at the Desire of one fifth of those Present, be entered on the Journal.
Neither House, during the Session of Congress, shall, without the Consent of the other, adjourn for more than three days, nor to any other Place than that in which the two Houses shall be sitting.
Section. 6.
The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States. They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.
No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been encreased during such time; and no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office.
Section. 7.
All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.
Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States: If he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the Objections at large on their Journal, and proceed to reconsider it. If after such Reconsideration two thirds of that House shall agree to pass the Bill, it shall be sent, together with the Objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a Law. But in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be determined by yeas and Nays, and the Names of the Persons voting for and against the Bill shall be entered on the Journal of each House respectively. If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten Days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law, in like Manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its Return, in which Case it shall not be a Law.
Every Order, Resolution, or Vote to which the Concurrence of the Senate and House of Representatives may be necessary (except on a question of Adjournment) shall be presented to the President of the United States; and before the Same shall take Effect, shall be approved by him, or being disapproved by him, shall be repassed by two thirds of the Senate and House of Representatives, according to the Rules and Limitations prescribed in the Case of a Bill.
Section. 8.
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
To borrow Money on the credit of the United States;
To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;
To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;
To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;
To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States;
To establish Post Offices and post Roads;
To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;
To constitute Tribunals inferior to the supreme Court;
To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offences against the Law of Nations;
To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;
To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;
To provide and maintain a Navy;
To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;
To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;
To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;
To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;–And
To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.
Section. 9.
The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight, but a Tax or duty may be imposed on such Importation, not exceeding ten dollars for each Person.
The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.
No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.
No Capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census or enumeration herein before directed to be taken.
No Tax or Duty shall be laid on Articles exported from any State.
No Preference shall be given by any Regulation of Commerce or Revenue to the Ports of one State over those of another; nor shall Vessels bound to, or from, one State, be obliged to enter, clear, or pay Duties in another.
No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time.
No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.
Section. 10.
No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.
No State shall, without the Consent of the Congress, lay any Imposts or Duties on Imports or Exports, except what may be absolutely necessary for executing it’s inspection Laws: and the net Produce of all Duties and Imposts, laid by any State on Imports or Exports, shall be for the Use of the Treasury of the United States; and all such Laws shall be subject to the Revision and Controul of the Congress.
No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.
During the debates on the adoption of the Constitution, its opponents repeatedly charged that the Constitution as drafted would open the way to tyranny by the central government. Fresh in their minds was the memory of the British violation of civil rights before and during the Revolution. They demanded a “bill of rights” that would spell out the immunities of individual citizens. Several state conventions in their formal ratification of the Constitution asked for such amendments; others ratified the Constitution with the understanding that the amendments would be offered.
On September 25, 1789, the First Congress of the United States therefore proposed to the state legislatures 12 amendments to the Constitution that met arguments most frequently advanced against it. The first two proposed amendments, which concerned the number of constituents for each Representative and the compensation of Congressmen, were not ratified. Articles 3 to 12, however, ratified by three-fourths of the state legislatures, constitute the first 10 amendments of the Constitution, known as the Bill of Rights.

The Conventions of a number of the States having, at the time of adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added, and as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government will best insure the beneficent ends of its institution;
Resolved, by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, two-thirds of both Houses concurring, that the following articles be proposed to the Legislatures of the several States, as amendments to the Constitution of the United States; all or any of which articles, when ratified by three-fourths of the said Legislatures, to be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the said Constitution, namely:
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Amendment II
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
Amendment III
No soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.
Amendment IV

Amendment V
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
Amendment VI
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.

In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise reexamined in any court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.
Amendment VIII
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
Amendment IX
The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

Sect. 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law, nor deny any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

In law, naturalization refers to an act whereby a person acquires a citizenship different from that person’s citizenship at birth. Naturalization is most commonly associated with economic migrants or refugees who have immigrated to a country and resided there as aliens, and who have voluntarily and actively chosen to become citizens of that country after meeting specific requirements. However, naturalization that is at least passive, and often not voluntary, can take place upon annexation or border adjustments between countries. Unless resolved by denaturalization or renunciation of citizenship, naturalization can lead to multiple citizenship.
The origin of the term “naturalization” is that it gives to a resident alien almost all of the rights held by a natural-born citizen.
In general, basic requirements for naturalization are that the applicant hold a legal status as a full-time resident for a minimum period of time and that the applicant promise to obey and uphold that country’s laws, to which an oath or pledge of allegiance is sometimes added. Some countries also require that a naturalized national must renounce any other citizenship that he currently holds, forbidding dual citizenship, but whether this renunciation actually causes loss of the person’s original citizenship will again depend on the laws of the countries involved.
Nationality is traditionally either based on jus soli (”right of the territory”) or on jus sanguinis (”right of blood”), although it now usually mixes both. Whatever the case, the massive increase in population flux due to globalization and the sharp increase in the numbers of refugees following World War I has created an important class of non-citizens, sometimes called denizens. In some rare cases, procedures of mass naturalization were passed (Greece in 1922, Armenian refugees or, more recently, Argentine people escaping the economic crisis). As naturalization laws had been created to deal with the rare case of people separated from their nation state because they lived abroad (expatriates), Western democracies were not ready to naturalize the massive influx of stateless people which followed massive denationalizations and the expulsion of minorities in the first part of the 20th century — the two greatest such minorities after World War I were the Jews and the Armenians, but they also counted the (mostly aristocratic) Russians which had escaped the 1917 October Revolution and the war communism period, and then the Spanish refugees. As did Hannah Arendt point out, internment camps became the “only nation” of such stateless people, since they were often considered “undesirable” and were stuck in an illegal situation (their country had expelled them or deprived them of their nationality, while they hadn’t been naturalized, thus living in a judicial no man’s land).
After World War II, the increase in international migrations created a new category of refugees, most of them economic refugees. For economic, political, humanitarian and pragmatic reasons, many states passed laws allowing a person to acquire their citizenship after birth (such as by marriage to a national or by having ancestors who are nationals of that country), in order to reduce the scope of this category. However, this system still maintains in some countries a large part of the immigrated population in an illegal status, albeit some massive regularizations (in Spain by José Luis Zapatero’s government and in Italy by Berlusconi’s government).
