MJM Covers The Big Stories

By Greg L | 18 November 2007 | Manassas City, Prince William County | 25 Comments

Here’s a look at what the Manassas Urinal-Massager has decided to cover instead of talking about how they promoted as fact a false story about voter intimidation at the Stonewall precinct on election day:

Bunnies owe their lives to local resident.
The MJM is having phone problems.
Some print edition pages of the MJM are not in color.

This is pathetic. I’ve given up on thinking that the editorial board of the MJM had any journalistic integrity, but don’t they even have any self-respect? Their continuing production problems should only qualify as news if they can assure their readers that they’re going out of business. That would be newsworthy, and poetic justice as well.

Perhaps the U.S. would be better served if everyone that disagrees with you goes of business. I’m humored by your brand and band philosophy.

Their coverage of the news is a little lame today for sure. However, the letters to the editor are priceless. Entertainment at its best! I particularly enjoyed Tom Kopko stating that Governor Tim Kaine would be thrown out of Prince William County along with democratic candidates. (for cutting (sic) abstinence based sex ed programs)

What an absurd statement. Does this dude seriously think that the governor of this state can be ‘thrown’ out of the county? What on earth does that mean? Is he implying the Prince William County is seceding from Virginia? Perhaps he thinks that Governor Kaine was running for governor or some other political office? Does he think that Tim Kaine lives in Prince William County? No wonder people on this blog have been howling about this character.

Help me out here. Is this guy really that out of touch with reality? I am just a lowly Independent and don’t know the internal workings of political Republican insiders other than what I read here. If Tom Kopko is your fearless leader, I am embarrassed for you.

If anyone should be thrown out of the County it is Tom Kopko. He has done more harm to the Republican party than he has done good. The Democrats have to love him for dividing the Republicans and scaring the moderates away.

Ha ha. You Republicans should keep him. He’ll turn PWC blue faster.

    Dolph,

Kopko is only worried about himself and needs to go.

What I don’t understand is why abstinence based sex education and safe sex education can’t be taught together.

Kids are going to engage in sex while in high school and they need ALL information that is out there. While we all hope that they will wait until they are older or married the facts show they don’t.

Back to Kopko, he has done so much damage to the PWC Republican Party I hope that it will be salvagable when he is booted.

    Me-n-u,

What you are saying makes perfect sense to me.

Isn’t the KISSN program something Fitzsimmonds has a hand in? What is his relationship to that program?

I’m not sure what the KISSN program is, but I do know that Fitzsimmonds has implemented abstinence based sex education in several schools.

    me-n-u,

I think that is the abstinence based program. Does he make money off the program? Who pays the speakers who run the program?

I have heard parts of the program. I was not impressed. The kids thought it was a joke also.

Turn the County bluer faster? Hmmm, have you looked at the recent election results? If anything the County is more red then it was just five years ago. Please do not take this as a defense of Tom, I just disagree with your opinion that somehow the County is turning blue.

The MJM like any business can run it as they like. However, they also must deal with the results of how they run the business.

Does anyone but me find it very strange that it’s the Democrats who consistently support Tom Kopko’s continued leadership of the PWCRC??

I am not a Democrat. I learned about Kopko from Republicans on this blog. I have no idea of the party affiliation of the man who wrote the letter to the editor in the MJM. Just an innocent reader here.

oh, but Dolph, was not referring to you personally….did you notice what “anonymoustoo” and other avowed Democrats have said in other threads?

Freedom, I didn’t think you were personalizing your comments to me. I was merely pointing out I would have no clue who the guy even was if many of the Republicans on the blog hadn’t been so vociferous about his shortcomings. I thought his letter to the editor was rather ridiculous so I would be inclined to agree with said Republicans on this issue.

KISSN is an abstinence based program that is run on donations. Nobody is making any money from it. Oh, that young men and women would value marriage and wait. What a precious gift it is to get married and know your spouse saved himself or herself for you!

So is KISSN a free program to schools and churches? Just curious.

anonymoustoo — you’re also an avowed ignoramous given your comment about PWC turning blue.

By what stretch of insanity do you make that conclusion?

Nichols beating Gill? If anyone but Gill was the candidate there, Nichols would not have won. That race had nothing to do with party. Well, at least not the Democrat Party. Blame the botched 51st convention for the only GOP seat lost in PWC.

Colgan beating FitzSimmonds? Colgan was the incumbent and should never have been in as much trouble as he was throughout much of the campaign.

Barker beating O’Brien? Sorry, O’Brien crushed Barker in PWC, but Barker returned the favor in Fairfax.

Fact. Corey Stewart improved his margin over Sharon Pandak by 4 percent over last year.

Fact. Mike May and John Stirrup crushed their opponents by more than 20 points.

Fact. Three other GOP supervisors ran unopposed.

Fact. Had Steve Keen not run in Woodbridge as an independent, Chris Royse would have defeated Frank Principi. That’s right. Woodbridge is now in play for the GOP.

Fact. Del. Frederick defeated his opponent by approx. 20 points after barely surviving 2 years ago.

Fact. Dels. Marshall and Lingamfelter both improved on their numbers from 2 years ago.

Fact. Nearly every candidate endorsed by the MJM and the Washington Post in PWC LOST!!!

    Anonymous at 8:36,

Ha ha. Always a quick excuse for why your guys lost. The Republicans who ran unopposed for the BOCS are moderates. Clue…we like their moderate stances. Run some right-wing crackpot in those districts and see what type of chance he stands. I have to laugh each time you guys think that your candidates lose because they’re not far right enough. Remember the lessons of the past when the Democrats were too far to the left to win. Well, some of your candidates are too far to the right to win. Moderation in all things…food, sex, drink, and politics.

“Republicans who ran unopposed for the BOCS are moderates. Clue…we like their moderate stances.”

The reason they were unopposed was not due to their moderate stance. It was because they raked in donations from developers before the primary season and with $100,000+ stashed away in their bank accounts, no one had the finances to duke it out in a primary or a regular election. Believe me, people in Coles would love to get rid of Nohe.

Go to VPAP and check it out.

How about John Jenkins over $125K, if memory serves me corretly. I know a lot of folks in the Brentsville District that feel the same way about their supervisor. I find it amazing that no one has ran against some of these unopposed supervisors.

Well, well, well look what’s in the MJM today.

So, if you are the “ultimate liberal couple” then how can you be “Independent.” Just registering as an “Independent” does not make it so - actions speak louder than words, “anonymoustoo.”
