Casa De Maryland Visits Venezuela
By Greg L | 25 November 2007 | National Politics, Illegal Aliens | 29 Comments
In case there was much doubt left as to what was actually the philosophical underpinning of the illegal alien lobby, a publication which calls itself “The Militant” helps dispel them all. Apparently some folks from Casa de Maryland went down to Venezuela in order to participate in a panel discussion along with Ward Churchill on “United States: A possible revolution”. The idea here is that these folks think that America is ripe for a change, and new immigrants — legal and otherwise — are to be the vanguard that starts “the Third American Revolution.” A socialist one.
The political perspectives most sharply debated over the five days were, first, the impact and importance of millions of Latin American immigrant workers in the United States, and, second, the history of revolutionary struggles of working people in the United States and the lessons of those struggles for revolutionary prospects. In a striking way, the discussion registered that those living and engaged in the class struggle in the United States generally expressed greater confidence in the revolutionary capacities of working people there than did those—both U.S. citizens and many Latin American participants—living outside the United States.
Several panelists are active in work to expand rights for immigrants in the United States. These included Diógenes Abreu, a Dominican-born community organizer who currently lives in New York; Luis Rodríguez, a Chicano activist in California’s San Fernando Valley; and Gustavo Torres, an organizer for the immigrant rights group Casa de Maryland. Several of them gave a vivid and accurate picture of conditions of life for immigrant workers in the United States and the growing resistance and confidence manifested in strikes and ongoing street mobilizations against raids and deportations.
Keep in mind that Casa de Maryland receives millions of taxpayer dollars from the state of Maryland. With those taxpayer dollars, they get to hang out with Ward Churchill, Black Panthers, members of the Socialist Workers Party, and assorted folks who may or may not be “Trotskyites” in the current epicenter of radical dicatorships, Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela. Marylanders should be outraged.
Also of note are the strong similarities between this ideology and that promoted by the Zapatista-affiliated Mexicans Without Borders here in Prince William County. You have the same presence of anarchists and Maoists, the same calls for revolution, the same calls for an end to capitalism, and the same utter disdain for what America is. This same illegal alien lobby, which receives civil rights protections for freedom speech and freedom of assembly under our Constitution in the United States, rights which are denied in the Socialist mecca of Venezuela, is using these liberties in order to impose a system of government that will most certainly then revoke such freedoms as being counter-revolutionary as has happened everywhere else they have have been successful. This isn’t the policy exception for this ideology, it’s the rule.
This isn’t some benign movement seeking to simply obtain human rights for some maligned segment of society. Their goal is the destruction of our nation, and in the case of Maryland, not only are they blind to the danger, they are actively funding it with taxpayer dollars. In Montgomery County, Maryland, this Casa De Maryland has real political power and has the demonstrated ability to impose its agenda on the citizenry. Here in Prince William County, the electorate has demonstrated it’s commitment to preserving the rule of law and our liberties as Americans, and rejected this course. As Casa De Maryland and their fellow travelers consolidate power in what was formerly “the Free State”, we’ll get a good look at what the real results are of the social experiment we have declined to participate in, and have some good reasons to celebrate the choices we’ve made.
God save the residents of Maryland. How soon will it be before ‘Che Guevara High School‘ is named in Montgomery County? Too soon, certainly.

NEW BUCHANAN BOOK DECLARES ‘END OF AMERICA’
http://www.drudgereport.com/flash9pb.htm
What is amazing is the level of anti-semeitsm at that conference:
“Baraka concluded by reading his poem, “Somebody Blew Up America,” a Spanish translation of which was distributed to participants. Written after September 11, 2001, the poem presents a long list of historical atrocities, interlacing anti-imperialist and anticapitalist rhetoric with conspiracy theories of history and anti-Semitism. “Who decide Jesus get crucified,” the poem asks. “Who knew the World Trade Center was gonna get bombed / Who told 4000 Israeli workers at the Twin Tower / To stay home that day / Why did Sharon stay away?”
During the opening day of the panel, a participant from Panama had said during the discussion that Jews are the main problem facing working people in the world today because “they have all the money” and control everything. Norton Sandler, a member of the Socialist Workers Party in the United States, spoke from the floor the next day and pointed to the danger of scapegoating and Jew-hatred for the working-class movement. “
By the way:
“Keep in mind that Casa de Maryland receives millions of taxpayer dollars from the state of Maryland. ”
That’s a lie.
“That’s a lie”
No. It is the truth.
How is it a lie? How is it the truth? I know nothing about Casa de Maryland. Could each ’side’ please state the reasons for their claim?
Dolph and Ducky,
From CASA’s very own web page:

Wheaton Workers’ Center
In September 2005, CASA opened its Wheaton Center with funding from Montgomery County, and later, from private foundations including the Washington Area Partnership for Immigrants.
Langley Park, Prince George’s County Coming Soon!
Funding for the renovations of the facility is committed from Maryland’s Department of Housing and Community Development, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and from Prince George’s County Government.
Silver Spring Workers’ Center
Through CASA’s efforts to include the range of stakeholders, including neighborhoods, churches, immigrant advocates, police, businesses and county governments, public and private funding was identified to open the first center in 1994.
Baltimore Workers’ Employment Center
Following the release of Baltimore’s Day Labor Report, recommending the creation of an employment and training center, CASA worked with the Mayor’s office to secure funding and a location for a newly opened Center providing legal and employment placement services, financial literacy, job skills training, and additional educational courses. CASA’s Baltimore Workers’ Employment Center is currently under renovation, thanks to funding from the City of Baltimore and an anonymous donor, and will open in November 2007.
Center for Employment and Training at Shady Grove
Opened in April 2007 in partnership with Montgomery County, and replicating CASA’s other workers’ centers….
YES, CASA is supported by and DOES receive tax-payer dollars from Marylanders and others, and it sounds like it easily runs into the millions.
I stand corrected.
The anti-Semitic rantings from that militant conference sound like something neo-Nazis would say. The people of Maryland should know about that.
Are these people US Citizens? If so, this is high treason. We are at war and these acts should be punished!!!
People need to wake up and get off of CNN and other news media and read the blogs and other respectable people. The news media will not say anything about the North American Union nor will they report something like this!! We need a presidential candidate that will stand up and bring this to the forefront.
I watched the video about Hillary and her campaign donation issues and how she made her fund raising manager take the fall. I wonder what he was paid to do so!!!
I should think that the public policy of fomenting revolution in our country should automatically fall under the heading of terrorism and make those individuals subject to the close attention of Homeland Security. Aren’t people like these an example of why so many citizens were so eager to give up their rights under the Patriot Acts?

Ducky, before you make assenine statements, CHECK THE FACTS. DO YOU THINK LEGGETT IS TAKING THE MONEY HE GIVES CASA DE MARYLAND OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET. QUACK! QUACK!

Virgilint1,
Ducky also said “I stand corrected.”
VIRGILINT1, before you make assenine statements, CHECK THE FACTS!
Treasonous organizations like Casa flourish in one-party states like Maryland. Maryland is more of a workers paradise than even Arlington and Fairfax County.
Maryland is a corrupt, Democrat state. Even the less socialist regions in Mid-Maryland and western Maryland are being infested with Montgomery County leftists who are looking for a better quality of life and lower housing prices.
I say organizations like Casa are illegal. There needs to be a challenge in court.
Casa De Maryland receives over 4 million dollars from the state of Maryland. Casa has lawyers who advise and defend illegals in court. I don’t know if Casa receives any monies from the federal government. I’m sure they have found a way. If Casa went to this meeting that money came from Maryland taxpayers.Fair and USA should challenge these organizations. If this Commission come to PWC it will be with taxpayers money. Under the FOI would it be possible to find out who invited them here, A copy of the letterwould be nice.
Some Maryland people have organized and started help save maryland. They are the ones that brought this to everyones attention. They are trying to get something done about all of this, but the politicians aren’t listening, yet.
I wish more people would understand what these pro-illegal groups are really about. They DO want to change the landscape of America. Like Greg said they are promoting revolution and socialism, here in OUR own country.
Thank you Greg for posting this. I hope people are reading.
Well it seems the North American Union is getting some pressure from the other side.

I am proud to see VA is on this list:
Lawmakers in Idaho have approved a “joint memorial” that urges the U.S. Congress to use “all efforts, energies and diligence” to get the United States out of the Security and Prosperity Partnership, a multinational plan that opponents believe is being used to blend the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
As WND has reported previously, many other state legislatures have resolutions pending that condemn the idea of a “North American Union,” but Idaho’s is the first to pass such a measure.
Officials report that Idaho was one of 14 state legislatures where such resolutions have been introduced to oppose the SPP and North American Union. Only Idaho has completed the approval process, and in one other state, Utah, the Senate failed to vote on that state’s encouragement to have the U.S. withdraw from the SPP.
Other states where proposals are pending are Arizona (S.C.M. 1002), Illinois (H.J.R. 29), Georgia (S.R. 124), Missouri (S.C.R. 15 and H.C.R. 33), Montana (H.J.R. 25), Oklahoma (S.C.R. 10), Oregon (S.J.M. 5), South Carolina (S. 416 and H. 3185), South Dakota (S.C.R. 7), Tennessee (S.J.R. 88), Virginia (S.J.R. 442 and S.J.R. 387), and Washington (H.J.M. 4018 and S.J.M. 8004).
The Idaho plan noted that “actions taken by the SPP to coordinate border security by eliminating obstacles to migration between Mexico and United States actually makes the United States-Mexico border less secure and more vulnerable to possible terrorist activities, and Mexico is the primary source of illegal immigrants, illegal drug entry and illegal human smuggling into the United States.”
I hope our legislature keeps the pressure on. We need to have someone with power investigate the treason Casa is supporting!!!!!!!

Yet more good news on the NAU front. I am on this like a chicken on a June bug!!!
Can you believe the gall of some??
http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/11/14/america/LA-GEN-Mexico-US-Migrants.php
Here’s more that will gall you. America detaining illegal’s crossing the border instead of releasing them.
http://www.granma.cu/ingles/2007/noviembre/vier23/48mexi.html
Now we know why they had to raise taxes in Maryland - to pay for CASA’s Venezuela junkets! LOL
I think Chavez needs to visit Maryland instead of Virginia and see what civil right of Americans are being violated in that state! What happened to our rights? Every benifit is given to the illegal and American citizens be damned!
Let the Mexican gov’t publicize their “migrants” sucess stories and if they are illegal it give ICE the name and city and state where to go find them and deport their butts, after they are locked up for awhile.
A cousin of mine had a sometimes boyfriend from Ireland who was illegal, someone dropped a dime on him and he got deported 5 years ago. He came back a year later and got deported again and told not to come back or he wouldn’t like what happened to him. He came back again through Canada and was caught at the border. ICE put him in a detention camp in Albany NY for over a year before they allowed him to contact anyone to let his relatives know that he was still around. So it’s just not hispanics getting rounded up. You break the laws you do the time.
That’s great!
For Menu, 11:02….
Welcome to the beginnings of the NAU…:( At least Virgil Goode sees the light….
First of all, I’m Irish and we have relatives in Ireland that would just like to VISIT but the paperwork since 9/11 is so daunting that they won’t. Is this a good thing?
I don’t mean to play devil’s advocate but when you hear of someone from Ireland violating immigration law doesn’t it make you wonder why? Don’t you wonder why Bill Gates has to open an office in Canada in order to get the talent he desires from around the world? Why, when you think of all the federal government foul-ups don’t you consider they have also fouled-up the immigration entry process? Try this quick exercise. Name 5 things the feds have screwed up? Now, name 5 things the feds have done well? Which of these two lists was easier to come up with? I challenge anyone to come up with a longer list for the ‘done well’ scenario. My point being, simply, why is it assumed that one of the things the feds have done right is their handling of the immigration entry process?

I agree wholeheartedly that the government has screwed up much of what it does and doesn’t appear it will fix it’s problems in the near future. Ever wonder why Gates opened an office in Canada? He sees no talent in U.S. workers?
He is one of the causes of the problem. He made a statement just a short while back that the U.S. should remove all repeat all visa quotas for workers. What does that tell you? He is looking for nothing but cheap labor to staff his business. Try calling the Microsoft service desk and see where you end up. You probably will talk to “Patrick” in India. The whole government is broken and there is no one to fix it. Maybe that is another job that Americans won’t do!
What are you talking about? Ireland participates in the Visa Waiver Program so your relatives from Ireland, assuming they have a machine-readable passport, simply need to fill out a form I-94W and present it along with evidence that they are not staying permanently in the USA (a return plane ticket suffices for this).
The I-94W form can be seen here for those who would like to see how “daunting” it is:
http://www.immihelp.com/visas/i-94w.html
The government estimates that it takes 2 minutes to understand the form and 4 minutes to complete it. Daunting, indeed.
Bill Gates wants talent from overseas because it’s cheaper. You’d think he’d use his foundation with its multi-billions to fund a school to train US talent but no, he wants more immigration so he can drive down salaries.
I can’t attest to the truthfulness of this so just take it at face value.
Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2: The world won’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent’s generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they’ll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.
No, Bill Gates did not use that in a speech.
