That is what you get when you take out moderate incumbants and put up right wing nuts that do not win. What do you expect.

Another wasted session in Richmond about to begin. Don't look for anything meaningful about illegal immigration to come up for a vote. It just AIN'T going to happen. One day (hopefully before it's too late) they will realize this country and this state has a major problem with illegal aliens and the taxpayer is footing the bills.

Perhaps Senator Marsh will remember the humble beginnings from whence he came, and realize there are thousands more of Americans who still live in the same grip of poverty. Perhaps he'll realize that the unfettered invasion of illegal third world poor who are willing to work for slave labors will seal the door forever on the prospects of upward mobility for those whom he should be representing. If he fails to remember and realize, or if he does remember and realize yet still turns his back on his roots, may God have mercy on him.

I still think nothing will ever be done about illegal immigrants at the national or state level....people are far too dumb in large numbers to actually get the required votes to make something happen. We can only deal with this at the micro level (county). It might "be a federal issue", but just as the feds don't want to do their jobs on this problem, they won't want to do their jobs forcing the taxpayers to abandon our local legislation against illegals.

Dat....Dat's what I think!

Ducky, maybe they consider cities safe because police presence was increased in those cities where immigrants migrate.

We had our shot and the people chose amnesty. As painful as it is, the next four years look to be another coddling period because frankly that appears to be what people in this state want. I suggest Oklahoma for anyone that wants to move somewhere where the citizens make a stand against anarchy. It's obvious that the wealthy liberals who don't have to live amongst these criminals have somehow managed to turn our Republicans (read RINOS) against us here in Virginia.

Bienvenidos a Mexico pequeno amigos! aye aye ayeeee!

El Paso safe? Ummm try again on that one. That place is a crime ridden cesspool. I have to land there on my way to southern New Mexico when I vacation there and can't wait to get out. The place is a slum. They may not have a lot of murders but they have their fair share of property crimes and blight. Liberal lies and propaganda.

Christopher DickeyUrban Legends
New immigrants may be the best thing that ever happened to American cities, but don't wait for the leading presidential candidates to tell you that.

What do the safest big cities in the United States have in common? Rudy Giuliani knows, but he's not likely to say so, at least not now. Why? Because the answer, in a word, is immigrants.

The "Safest City" awards published a few days ago by Congressional Quarterly back up this kind of thinking. Among the top 10 with populations over 500,000, four are in Texas: Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin and the border town of El Paso, which is the second-safest big city in the country. Two are in California: San Jose and San Diego, which, again, is right across the line from Mexico. The safest city of all is Honolulu, with its very diverse population, while New York City ranks fourth. (New York City also looks as if it will have fewer murders this year than at any time since reliable statistics became available, in 1963.) "I would say, if you want to be safe, move to an immigrant city," Robert J. Sampson, chairman
