MJM: Move Along, Nothing To See Here
By Greg L | 6 December 2007 | Manassas City | 39 Comments

Above: Cultural diversity at work in this year’s Christmas Parade in Manassas
Concerns about the inclusion of this “Dance of the Tecunai” are beginning to appear in the mainstream media, as this letter to the editor in the MJM demonstrates:
This is their harvest ritual and belongs in a Halloween parade. The kids are there to see SANTA, not the devil. The kids are there to be happy and joyous — not frightened. What were the parade officials thinking? I suggest those responsible for the parade need to be more selective in who they allow to participate.
Diversity is one thing, but this was a blatant showing of how assimilation into the American society is NOT happening; and those responsible for the parade allowed it. This is just sickening.
In the same edition, the Urinal-Massager editorial board chooses to opine on the “strength” that this diversity brings us:
Having different cultures in a small area does allow for quite a bit of clashing, but it also makes things much more entertaining. Nobody can say that the Prince William County area has nothing going on.
They’re talking about this in reference to Mexicans Without Borders sponsored “Antorcha Guadalupana” as is this is somehow “a source of controversy for many in the area.” Funny, I haven’t heard much in the way of controversy expressed over this. If Mexicans Without Borders wants to have a torch relay for “immigrant justice”, I doubt many have a real problem with that. There’s been no letters to the editor about this that I’ve seen, and no website I’m aware of has discussed it. It’s a completely fabricated non-issue.
Inventing controversy where it doesn’t exist, while ignoring real controversy where it does — now that’s real journalism, and it speaks rather loudly to a political agenda at work here. By redirecting the media’s discussion about the impact of slavering obedience to the mantra of “diversity is strength” from something so clearly offensive as the appearance of someone dressed up as the devil in a Christmas Parade, to something as innocuous as a largely-ignored torch relay, the Manassas Urinal-Massager gets to frame the discussion in a thoroughly comfortable but inaccurate manner. It’s “entertaining”, and prevents us from falling into the trap of having “nothing going on”. No, they weren’t really talking about the relay here, they were referring to the Christmas Parade outrage, something they are too afraid to directly mention.
Let’s see this excuse for local media actually defend the idea of the devil appearing at a Christmas celebration, as they clearly want to do. Let’s see them try to make that argument without eviscerating their subscription base. They cannot, so instead they choose to dance around this subject using a different foil of the Antorcha Guadalupana, one where they don’t risk absolutely enraging their readers, but still get to feed readers this disgenuine garbage about how replacing our culture with that from various third-world nations is somehow a good thing.
This deliberate poke in the eye by the cultural diversity crowd is indefensible, and the MJM knows it. That doesn’t mean they won’t try to defend it, as long as they have a different way to frame the discussion where they won’t have to acknowledge just how disturbing this cultural pollution can become. It is, after all, so much easier to sell the public on the idea of casting off their culture if they aren’t made aware of what is going to replace it.

ASSIMILATION!!!!!!!
Question. If WE Americans, U.S. Citizens, Legals, whatever you want to call us, were to have worn those outfits, do you REALLY think they (the pro illegal, Mexican crowd) would not be screaming Racism???
Looking at those faces reminds me of Little Black Sambo from back in the day. Now THAT guy has gone the way of the do-do…shouldn’t these???
Sorry. I don’t need Mexican culture shoved down my throat. That’s not what assimilation means. These costumes serve only to show how racist Mexicans are. Except that it’s OK to be racist if you’re latino, or hispanic, whichever term you prefer. What does “La Raza” mean? What do they really preach? Tolerance? Most people born in America don’t really understand how racist other cultures are, because they haven’t experienced it.
I was just reading about a poll which showed that “Hispanics” are now leaning Democrat vice Republican. ALAN FRAM, Associated Press Writer says that they poll was conducted by “the nonpartisan Pew Hispanic Center.”
This is what the “non-partisan Pew Hispanic Center” found:
_Forty-one percent said Bush administration policies have been harmful to Hispanics, 16 percent said they have been helpful and 33 percent said they have not had much impact.
_Forty-four percent said Democrats have more concern for Hispanics, 8 percent chose Republicans and another 41 percent said there is no difference.
_Forty-one percent said Democrats do a better job of handling illegal immigration, 14 percent named the GOP and 26 percent said neither.
Younger Hispanics are slightly more inclined than older ones to be Democrats, while those with higher incomes lean more toward the GOP than those with lower earnings, the poll showed.

AMEN!!! If more Americans would be able to afford to travel around this great planet of ours and see the world, they would come back to this Utopia we call the United States and kiss the ground.
Ok, maybe not if they go to Switzerland (grin).
JL…I lived in the Philippines for 18 months. I was SOOOOO happy to be back in the USA!!! Third world doesn’t sit with me!!! It was nothing for people to urinate in the ditch in front of your house out in the open. I was so happy to be home.
Johnson, The ILLEGALS don’t seem to understand that we do not want the culture shoved down our throat. A small portion is ok since this is the melting pot, but too much at once makes it harder to swallow and makes them appear they do not want to ASSIMILATE.
/\/\3|)iç 64 - are you SURE that wasn’t France
LOL @ JL. I have never been to France so I am pretty sure it wasn’t (c:
I was a West Coast sailor.
John Light, Switzerland has had a lot of racial clashes. I don’t know whether your (grin) makes you statement tongue in cheek or what. - Did you watch Jim Lehrer a couple of nights ago? He had a program about refugees in Sweden. That country has accepted 9000 (nine thousand) Iraqis, while the US has allowed circa 200! Sweden has a population of about 8.5 million. You figure the ratio!
3Dic 64, I lived in Southeast Asia for 2 1/2 years and, yes, the people used the ditches and rivers for all kinds of things, but I tell you, they were the friendliest, most hospitable people I’ve ever met. We didn’t live in an American compound so had daily contact with the locals. The embassy employees had their own gated community, of course. - My fervent wish is that those countries that have the funds would spend them on sewage and water purification plants rather than weapons.

I lived in the Barrio when I was there. I agree they are friendly people and were excited when you assimilated to their culture. As I have said in another post, I learned some Tagalog. Not conversational, but enough to get by. The point is, I made an effort and they appreciated me for it. Well anyone, not just me specifically. The corrupt gov’t prevented the money the US was spending to make it to the neighborhoods. After the payoffs, there wasn’t enough to do any serious water or sewage.
I would be interested to know Switzerland’s ILLEGAL immigrant population. That could be a good reason they took so many, they have more room.
People will only see what they want to see. You can’t change people, places or things.
I would just ask that everyone not got stuck on this as the DEVIL would want you too.
I would ask that we not loose the Christmas spirit and give to anyway we can.
I had gotten and email a few years back as a suggestion when addressing Christmas cards to send some to a wounded vet at a hospital and I have done so since. I will post the info. tomorrow as I have the contact info. at my office. Anyway, the point is, a little cheer goes along way.
Here is an article about Meals on Wheels. (due to gas prices, they are having trouble)
I just wanted to put the idea out there to not focus on this and forget how we can do something nice for someone.

Get creative and giving
Merry Christmas
sorry, I did not proof read, distracted by the kids…urggg..LOL, they aren’t gonna steal my joy…
I heard swiss citizenship is extremely hard to obtain, far harder than U.S. Citizenship. If that’s true I dont think they have too much of an immigrant problem. I have no clue about sweden.
Josh
Just how did America and Americans survive before diversity became the PC buzz word? Did our grandparents and their grandparents miss out on something?
Has anyone noticed that many of the third World Nations that are so good at sending us their poor, have very little in the way of diversity. Yet, some how, we are supposed to be flipping over backwards with glee because their main export is here to teach us about diversity.
COM,
You hit the nail on the head with the key : BEFORE PC (BS) =POLITICAL CONFUSION
redawn,
Enough of the devil!
That is very sad to hear about Meals On Wheels. I delivered meals in the 90’s in the Herndon/Reston area. The company I worked for participated in the program, and it was one of the most gratifying things I’ve ever done in my life.
Here’s a couple of more thoughts for the season. Take an “Angel” off a gift tree at the mall or if your church has one. Give something to someone that might otherwise have nothing for Christimas morning. I do this every year. The children really ask for some very basic things like coats, gloves, and hats. Yes, they do also ask for toys. Next time you are at the Post Office(or make a special trip) ask them if they have letters addressed to Santa. They might and more than likely the letter would be from a child right in your own community.
Just some ideas.
Merry Christmas!
Lafayette,
I can vouch for you as far as the Angle tree….you HAVE been doing that for years
Thank you for that.
Yes, our blood may boil over this or that but instead….give blood. Contact the American Red Cross…you may even get a FREE t shirt
Merry Christmas
Hallelujah - you ladies are getting into the Christmas spirit. To hell with the devil, I say! He (she) made an appearence in a parade, but he (she) is gone now. Greg keeps bringing it up but LET’S SPREAD GOODWILL anyway. I worked Meals on Wheels with my late husband. Very rewarding, indeed.
Krusty,
I knew you weren’t gone
You may even get a skillet/ frying pan for Christmas but then again nothing beats a well SEASONED one…hah! hah!
Yes, Meals on wheels very rewarding and MUCH appreciated.
I just hope as sales are down this season due to the uncertainty of our economics that people don’t forget about the people who are in need and there are things you ca give to people that do not cost money.
I would also like to add that giving should be all year long ( “Hallelujah - you ladies are getting into the Christmas spirit.”)
Just like people wait Valentine’s Day should be every day, not just that ONE day of the year ( happens to be my anniversary too
)
Merry Christmas
“I would be interested to know Switzerland’s ILLEGAL immigrant population. That could be a good reason they took so many, they have more room.”
I don’t know about Switzerland, but in Sweden a traffic jam is three cars in a row.
Next year’s Christmas parade, and any other future parade sponsored or w/i any city w/i our county for that matter, should be quiered to see if any such nonsense will be participating.
If, take for example, the city of Manassas Christmas parade in 2008, has these immigration knuckleheads parading again with their nose oozing with mucous and dancing with the devil, I say we all boycott the damn thing.
I’m tired of this crap. I’m tired of the liberals, the law-breakers, and the intolerant anti-religion lefties.
MPREsident - I don’ t know abt Switzerland but , yes, Sweden is sparsly populated. However, Stockholm is pretty bad traffic wise. Luckily, public transportation is great. Take a train fr the airport to the central station, from where you can get buses in every direction, go downstairs and you can get long distance and local trains plus subway. All kinds of shops down there.
Sweden has its share of illegal immigrants but accepts more legal ones than they can handle, IMO.
floodguy - Would you please explain what you mean by “intolerant anti-religion lefties”. Is it per chance the opposite of “the tolerant [ha] religious right”?
BTW, there’s interesting news about HSM. They want to form Save the Old Dominion rather than join/stay with the existing Help Save Virginia. A disagreement of some kind. You can read it on Herndonweb.com under the Northern Virginia Politics thread.
Cultural acceptance varies, as some posters have noted. I was stationed in Hawaii in the mid 1960’s (Navy) as a newly minted Ensign, first arriving there only a few years after Hawaii had become a state. Talk about a double whammy….the locals hated whites, or barely tolerated them. Add to that the uniform, and there were automatically two strikes against you. We could at least live the ship in civvies…the poor enlisted sailors had to make do with fleet locker clubs, or frequent downtown Honolulu and Waikiki in uniform.
When I was posted in Mexico City during my government service years, all business with our Mexican government counterparts was conducted in Spanish, from “Los Pinos” staffers all the way down to local government officials. Our Spanish….unless one of us was a near native speaker…was often “corrected” or condemned (I speak it at the “3″ level, based on State Department testing. “5″ is native. ) When my family and I first moved there, we tried to speak Spanish at every first meeting with neighbors. Rarely was the same courtesy offered in English, despite our obvious Anglo appearance. It took some months for us to be accepted. We lived on the local economy, despite being in a gated/guarded compound (suffice to say, Mexico City is one of the most crime ridden capitals in the world.)
And have you ever tried to catch a plane in a Latin American country? There is absolutely no concept of lines there…they announce a flight and there’s a mad rush to the gate. Makes me miss Japan!
Dreadnought - Southeast Asian system of lines I call the “funnel” system. Rudeness to a degree has to be applied to simply get to the gate. The taller people definitely have an advantage. Same system ruled at the post office. I even had a person stick his hand with a letter under my arm, while I was conducting business. That was the way they did it and you had better learn. Assimilation was a necessity!
Now this is a cool thread!!!! I’ve lived in many countries where it is okay to simply move another person out of ones way, gently by the shoulders. I’ve lived in countries that when my mom boarded a bus pregnant and with a two year old, if younger folks did not give up their seat, and older persons aboard had no qualms about rousting them out of their seats either verbally, with a cane, or both. As far as my children go, we snag from local angel trees whenever we can. So far we have purchased 7 presents, along with Toys for Tots donations. Likewise my teaching assistant and I have come to realize that we have two students in our class that do not have winter coats. We have purchsed them since.
Well, I see that despite her abrupt and “permanent departure,” Krusty just couldn’t stay away. Oh well….
freedom - Once again (not to you though) I must explain that I was fed up with the “bagatelle” = PARADE, the DEVIL, not with the site. Sorry, but you’ll have to cope with my witty, profound, well-thought out, etc. etc. comments a bit longer:)
well, welcome back….:)
I suggest all of you go out to Borders et al and buy the book by Tomie De Paola called the legend of the posada. Learn a bit about how the Catholic church melds with indio traditions, notice in the ilustrations that the devil follows Mary and Joseph….
Here’s a great article of ideas one can help during the Christmas season.
Volunteers needed to help gift wrap
By MARY FOLEY
For the Potomac News
Monday, December 10, 2007
Good morning Prince William. I can hardly believe but here it is just two weeks away to Christmas and I know I just talked about The Un-Trim-A Tree Holiday Gift program for needy kids last week but I still need your help.
I have several hundred kids waiting to be matched with a donor willing to purchase them two gifts off their wish list valued at $20 each.
I’m using the term several hundred pretty loosely because actually in our 19-year history of this wonderful program we’ve never had so many kids waiting for donors at this late date.
As you recall we receive the names and wishes of the children from our partners in the community including all three Department of Social Services, Securing Emergency Resources Through Volunteer Efforts Inc., Action in the Community Through Service, Head Start and the Resource Mothers program.
Each one of these entities qualifies the family; we check for duplication then match the child to a donor.
I must say of the several thousand wishes I have input in the computer it continues to be the year of Barbie, Bratz, Transformers, board games, Legos and “High School Musical.” Some things never change and that’s a really good thing.
If you can spare a little time and resources, we have a kid waiting for you. Please call Diane at 703-369-5292, Ext. 207, or simply download the donor form off our Web site, volunteerprincewil liam.org, and fax it in.
Thank you so much. The wonderful folks at the Manassas Mall Management office are also a drop-off point if you just want to give a little something to the Santa shop.
Those wonderful folks at the American Red Cross are looking for a couple of early birds to register the walkers at Manassas Mall on Monday through Friday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. It’s a great way to get out early, meet some really neat people and have fun. Please call Linda at 703-368-4511, Ext. 223, to sign up for a particular day.
SERVE needs a couple of volunteers to help next Monday, Dec. 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Secret Santa Shop. This special shop is for the shelter kids to go in and select gifts for their siblings and parents. Come share the holiday spirit for a couple of hours by calling Jan at 703-367-6742.
And all you teens, please don’t forget about the easiest way to help out a great organization in a positive way is by volunteering with Literacy Volunteers of America to wrap presents at the Manassas Barnes and Noble store. Please call 703-670-5702 for specific dates and times.
And last but not least, this is a test of your sense of humor — did you have enough warm supplies for last week’s little snow clipper? Please take a few moments to prepare for driving in bad weather and icy roads and also preparing your household for power outages. Please visit ready.gov for lots of good information.
If you are looking for other opportunities, please don’t forget to call my wonderful team at the Voluntary Action Center. Diane can help senior volunteers with Retired and Senior Volunteer (RSVP) opportunities at 703-369-5292, Ext. 207; Shelley can help with 1-800 volunteer opportunities at 703-369-5292, Ext. 201; Sue can help you with Medical Reserve opportunities available in Disaster Preparedness at 703-369-5292, Ext. 204; and Bonnie can help you with all the other many opportunities available in Disaster Preparedness at 703-369-5292, Ext. 202. Or please don’t forget our Web site at volunteer princewilliam.org.
Thanks so much for all you do in our community. Until next week, please stay safe.
WOW! What nonsense! We need a Help Save Christmas now!
The Patriot (Got E-Verify),
Wow! Yourself. Where the heck have you been?
Mr. Smalls-Patriot Temp has been doing a bang up job in your absense. Welcome back, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Was this your first post since the great return?
The history of Christmas! My wouldn’t that be an interesting truth if people would just research it and learn what it was really like to celebrate Christmas in the 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 10th, 11th, 14th and 17th Century?
I think you would find the different church doctrines through-out history radically differing in how it should legally be allowed to be celebrated. Anyone not doing so correctly would be punished in some cases by death…
Let’s see, one well entrenched church of dubious history (lots of cruelty and bloodshed in its history) would prohibit all non-doctrinal believers from attending any other church for Christmas Cclebration nor allow any other doctrine to be prectices other than their own. Sound familiar to some modern legalistic, full of hate and angry Christians who do not follow a doctrine of love, kindness and mercy? These are the same religious people who are the most likely to get into politics (just like the inquisition church leaders?) because of their intense anger that they cannot control the rest of society and force them to follow their own doctrinal beliefs as “law”.
The popes of history, would demand the poor pay taxes to the King, and the Medici family be allowed to continue to steal from the poor to feed the rich.
The cardinals of history would demand you be punished by burning at the stake if you celebrated with a TREE, an ornament other than a cross, a yule log, if you drank egg-nog, if you believed in Santa Clause as a saint not ordained by the church (St Nicolas was never pictured in red and white robs, or as having raindeer or living at the north pole,) my, my to believe in such fantasy would be blasphemous in the 14th Century.
The dark ages would still be dark…if some common sense had not prevailed
I can go on about the ignorance and persecution of the doctrine of men of these churchs for what seem like benign modern cultural practices. But let’s make sure we include ALL PEOPLE and ALL BELIEFs in the Modern Diversity Culture, lest we offend any small minority.
Why let’s all worship church appointed idols to pray to for Christmas.
Better, we could analyze what kind of Christmas we might have if Diversity and Inclusion gets a foothold in our society.
All beliefs and belief systems MUST be equally represented as a Christmas concept, including the Wiccan worship practice of slaughtering living things in the forest and predicting the welfare of the society by putting entrails on stakes and “reading” the meaning of them. That needs to be in a Christmas float so we can understand why we need to wear different “Shoes” for Christmas.
All people must have equal outcomes for christmas presents, every rich person must make sure that they get no more presents than the very poorest person. Each person of any ethnic group is to invite every other ethnic group to live in their home for free over the Holiday, and not pay for any of it, unless of course you are a member of a majority and then you must pay for everything or risk being called a racist.
We must have equal representation of all languages spoken by Santa Clause. Every word Santa Clause Speaks must rotate to a different language, so we are all getting our fairshare of the christmas cookie and HO, HO, HO spoken so only we can understand it.
I can go on…
What a wonderful Christmas! I’m dreaming of a White, Black, Yellow, Red, Brown, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddist Christmas just like the one I used to know….
All in the name of some social engineering concept like diversity and inclusion created by the idiots of our 1970’s social engineering colleges.
Yes sir, that was a Great Christmas parade in Manassas. I’ll be sure and have my kids there next year!
Intellectual Flash! What if we just believed in an American Christmas that included traditional Christmas concepts and invited people of all nations to join us in our culture and ceremony if they want to live in harmony in our nation and not remain in theirs. What if we just all speak the same language so we can understand each other, sing together without sounding like a drunken pirate orgy and miracle of miracles, not see any of us as other than human individuals, blind to gender, race, religion and ethnic group?
I’m dreaming of a homgenous blended society for Christmas, just like the one I used to know…
Yes…Michael….we could call it a “melting pot”. What a concept!
The only thing that is NOT negotiable is….Christmas is ALL about Jesus Christ and our salvation through HIM only.
Amen!
