Is it just me, or do these two seem just a bit too happy that they’re together?
Maybe this needs a caption, but that’s probably too dangerous an endeavor to engage in.

Hillary Calls for National ID Cards to Keep Illegals Out of the Country
Posted by Otman23 on Tuesday February 11, 2003 at 10:13 am MST
(NewsMax)
Saying that she is strongly opposed to “illegal immigrants,” New York Sen. Hillary Clinton announced Tuesday that she would support a national identification card for U.S. citizens if other measures to keep illegals out of the country failed.
“I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants,” Clinton told WABC Radio’s John Gambling. Then, a few moments later, the Democratic Party presidential frontrunner added, “We might have to move towards an ID system even for citizens.”

If you want tough action against illegals, then you should be pleased as punch with HRC! She supports National ID cards. Just be careful about what you ask for - you just might get it.
“New York Sen. Hillary Clinton announced Tuesday” - what did she announce on Wednesday? She’s quite a waffler lately.
Greg, I have to say IMO, this thread is a bit crass.
I should add, that the young woman’s mother apparently failed to teach her the value of undergarments. It’s a lost art (mothering & undergarments).
not sure if it has been mentioned but the girl is natalie portman (star wars, etc…)
yes, it does looked like she skipped something when dressing for the occasion….
OOOOOH, the roving eyes of the male species! Quite a treat on a snowy morning, huh.
Headlights? What headlights? Is this some kind of “trick” photo?
I am just disappointed that the talented Natalie Portman (the young lady above) has decided to publically support Hill-Billary. It’s getting so I can’t go see anyones movies anymore. Ms. Portman is free to vote for anyone she wants, but when she’s lending “aid and comfort” to the enemy (and Clinton IS the enemy), that’s it for me.
Hillary is probably thinking, “Damn, I hope Bill doesn’t see this photo, he’ll be all over her while I’m being sworn in.”
Funny!
She’s gonna put somebody’s eye out if she’s not careful.
I am sure that Barbara Streisand is VERY jealous somewhere - lol
Caption? Ok…HAND CHECK!!! lol
I see Hill’s, but where is Nats? Wait, I REALLY don’t want to know.
Ducky, It seems to me that Billiary just supported the NAU. The national ID card is the first thing on the list to start setting up the NAU. The North American Union has to be fought at all costs!!!
/\/\3|)iç 64,
Why do you think that a national ID card would automatically lead to NAU? I would love to be able to get a card size birth certificate.
Let’s hope a similar photo with Oprah doesn’t appear.
maybe she had a last-minute wardrobe malfunction? could happen to anyone I’m sure..look at janet jackson!
Seriously though, doesnt hillary have some publicity folks that screen this stuff before it hits the street? This photo never should have seen the light of day. It’s embarrassing to both parties.
Funny!
I really really cannot stand that woman.
Deer, headlights, perfect lead in……plus the T & A thread is probably going to be the best place to get the attention of the gun crowd…..
Serious question here…and one I truly want opinion on….in light of yet another mass shooting, how do 2nd amendment die hards suggest we keep guns out of the hands of lunatics? The only response I reject is ‘everyone pack heat.’ I don’t want to go to public places that are likely to have daily shoot-outs. I see a real collision course here with the right the bear arms and the rights of the mentally ill.
I don’t want to round up everyone’s guns nor do I want to round up everyone someone thinks might be nuts. (they might come get me) Intelligent discourse wanted on this subject, please.
“”"Serious question here…and one I truly want opinion on….in light of yet another mass shooting, how do 2nd amendment die hards suggest we keep guns out of the hands of lunatics?”"”
I’ll use the automobile analogy. A lunatic can just as easily get behind the wheel and begin mowing down pedestrians with abandon. Should we ban automobiles?
As horrible as these mass shootings are, some things are just unavoidable. I blame society and bad parenting. Not guns. Kids today have readily available violence on demand. Video games, the WWW, movies, music, etc. They’ve become completely desensitized. Going into the mall and blowing away people is no more shocking for them then turning on the PS2 and blowing away people.
It’s the parents job to keep them away from that. ESPECIALLY if they notice antisocial behavior.
Dolph,
Personally, my humble opinion is no guns in the hands of mentally unstable people. To qualify for that, the person has to have undergone treatment and currently taking medication, counseling, etc.
Second thing to lose the right to bear arms would be, again in my humble opinion, if you have ever been convicted of 1st Degree Murder, then you lose that right. The right will then be given back ONLY after the sentence is served.
How did the idiot get to the mall? Public transportation? A POV? If so, then should be prohibit lunatics from taking public transportation or get a drivers license? Again, I can do more damage to more people with my car than I ever could with a gun. I can remember the days of the 100 round clip, but shot 101 requires a reload. My car? I can hit and kill/mame as many people as I want. Same with my knife (you call THAT a knife???).
John
Mando - great minds - you just hit enter before I did - lol.
“If so, then should be” - SHOULD read “If so, then should we…”
Except, Mando, that your analogy falls short. I cannot remember a single news story in the last decade about a lunatic using a car to mow down pedestrians with abandon (not saying it has never happened, just that it doesn’t seem to be a very common modus operandi for the lunatic set). Yet, in the same time frame, we have had quite a few lunatic gunmen.
Second, I’m very surprised to see the uber-PC argument that video games, the Internet, and media violence are to blame coming from someone who is traditionally so conservative. I would point out that the jury is still out on whether such arguments hold any weight. If going into a mall and blowing away people is no more shocking than turning on a video game, then I would expect that occurrences like yesterdays tragedy would happen far more often. Afterall, Halo III has sold tens of millions of copies. If video games and the media are to blame, I’d expect that there would tens of millions more out there ready to gun us down without pause. Since that is the case, I think you need to point elsewhere. Your argument is a convenient argument, but not one born out by the facts.
Dolph aka ~~splash~~,
http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=16058
“Serious question here…and one I truly want opinion on….in light of yet another mass shooting, how do 2nd amendment die hards suggest we keep guns out of the hands of lunatics?”
What we can do is make sure that if someone is ajudicated as mentally ill (the key word is ajudicated) and is ordered to treatment (even out-patient), then this is reported to the State Police. When this happens, any attempt to purchase a gun will send up a red flag in the insta-check system. There was a recent case at the Chantilly show, where an individual under restraining order, was arrested for trying to purchase a gun.
I will point out that while sensational, these mass killings are a rare occurance. Many, many more people are killed each day by otherwise upstanding citizens, who drink and drive.
It all boils down to one thing. We can no longer spank our children!!
This may sound a bit harsh, but think about it. If there are no negative consequences for the actions taken, then how is it a bad thing for them to do? I do not believe in having a 16 y/o commit a crime and they are not tried as an adult. Excuse me, they committed an adult offense, pay the consequences as an adult. That is the problem, too much leniency for crime. 2 appeals and you are done. that equates to three strikes. 1 at trial and 2 in appeals. If you can not change the way things are with your conviction in 2 appeals, it most likely isn’t going to change at all. Public hangings and removal of fingers if you murder someone or steal in that order. Once we stop coddling criminals the sooner this will stop. Quit making such a big deal out of the shootings, report it one day and be done with it. The attention is what these lunatics are looking for in their martyrdom!!! The less attention we pay to the act and the sooner we start doing that, the sooner this type of violence will stop.
The PC way has made it such that you can not tell a child they screwed up. It is ok if they are not chosen until last. It is ok if they can not play the game or jump the rope. Once the coddling stops, the sooner we can get a handle on this. Drop the PC crap and let’s take back society!!
Turn PW Blue, There was just that incident in DC not too long ago. I believe it ended up to be Drugs but it shows that people can use cars just as deadly as guns.
As a gamer who owns guns and finding out ALOT of gamers own guns, many of which are suitable for homeland defense, it’s not games. I put part of the blame on news media who give these people press time. Look at VT Tech shootings and Cho. Every lunatic who saw the news coverage he got has to be thinking “If I can rack up a HUGE body count, I will be infamous!!!”
Dolph, the solution isn’t to arm everyone, it’s to let adults with clean background get a permit to carry a weapon concealed and put NO RESTRICTIONS ON THEM unless building is secured by armed guards and Metal Detectors aka courthouse. Private Property may continue to ban weapons but if they do, they take full responsibility for safety of everyone there.
Dolph:
The only logical response to your question is, “As many people as possible should be packing heat.” Laws should encourage law-abiding citizens to carry. When lunatics suspect that the population is no longer helpless, they will no longer prey on the population. As long as they suspect their prey is helpless, they will continue to prey on it. It’s a simple and pristine concept. We should go shooting sometime.
It’s “Liberal leave” at work today, so none of the Democrats showed up.
Greg: Great picture! Sure beats the one of Goober Kaine and you jiving at the 4th of July festival.
Oh yea, the mental health people, it appears this shooter in Nebraska acquired (stole) his weapons from his stepfather. No Mental Health record reporting would have changed anything.
I would like to point out this idiot is on front page of CNN.com. This is exactly what this idiot wanted, hell reading his suicide note, he says he wants to be famous and CNN is playing his tune even though he is dead.
@Turn PWC Blue
If you *could* take the guns out of the hands of lunatics and criminals, do you honestly believe they couldn’t find another way to carry out murder? That somehow totally removing guns from Americans (if this is even possible) would solve crime and killing sprees? I’m sure we could find cases of deranged motorists going on rampages if we did a little searching. It doesn’t have the media buzz like a teen with a gun, but I’m sure it happens. Case in point, the crack-mom in DC a few months ago.
@ your second point - I’m not advocating we should ban video games, www content, etc. I’m pointing to the fact that parents should be more involved in what their kids are getting into. Don’t buy your 12 year old child Grand Theft Auto because he wants it and all the cool kids have it.
As far as a verdict on whether video game violence desensitizes kids, do a WWW search on it. There’s studies that point both ways and they’re about 50/50. As a parent, I use my head as to what I allow my child exposure too. The commons sense approach tells me that blowing away cops, making drug deals, seeing people get their brains blown out, chainsaw wielding serial killers, casual rape, etc. is probably not good for my child to be exposed to.
Thumper, As a gamer, I have to agree with you. I do not own any guns mainly because I felt my ex wife would use it on me if I did. She was too anxious for me to own one.
If everyone was allowed to carry, criminals would think twice about committing a crime. They would have to ask themselves that important question, which makes them pause, is this person carrying? That slight pause would hopefully make them think about what they are about to do and stop.
Tougher punishment for crime. You kill someone, death sentence after your 2 appeals. I also feel they should die the way the person they murdered did. Drop the mental defense. Of course they were mentally impaired when they committed the crime, who in their right mind would have done that to begin with???
Hey, how about that guy who called 911 in Houston and killed the thieves as they came out of his neighbors house and into his yard???
Tougher laws will deter career criminals. They have no effect on the one-time mass murderer lunatic types. The only defense against those is for Joe Citizen to be able to take them out with a headshot.
“And points all her own sitting way up high
Way up firm and high” ~Bob Seger
JL, As I understand the law in TX, he was within his right to do that. The law had just changed back in Sept. This is something the media seems to be failing to report. He even mentioned it in the 911 call. There was a portion, which I have not heard on any newscast about it, where he states, you know the law change is in affect. The dispatcher acknowledged that fact. I heard this on the John Gibson show the very next day after this occurred. I have not heard that portion since then.
Before people start jumping on this guy about what he did, they need to make sure they are aware of the local laws where he is.
http://patterico.com/2007/12/04/pasadena-case-tests-texas-law-on-the-use-of-deadly-force/
I agree Advocator!! Once they realize they are not the only ones with guns, it will change the whole perspective of the crime and maybe, just maybe, give them pause about what they are about to do.
We’ve all seen the photo right here,
and implication that Hillary’s queer,
to infer as you do ,which parts should we view,
The titular headlights or deer?,
We can only hope that Dolly Parton or Pamela Anderson endorses Hillary.
What’s with the deer in the headlights look anyway? Botox??
Were the media to restrain itself from sensationalizing “active shooters” I suspect those looking to go out in a “blaze of glory” would seek other venues.
Others have mentioned vehicles, and there have been several cases recently in the national news involving crazy people running down pedestrians (recently in San Fransisco and South Carolina). If not guns or cars they’ll use knives or gasoline or any other object lawful to possess.
This situation had an almost ideal police response; 2 minutes to dispatch, 4 minutes on scene. You can’t get any better than that. While neither Dolph or I desire to be in a place where a “shoot out” is likely, lets be careful about broad labels. The murderer in this case, and in other “mass murders” involving firearms selected a location where a “shoot out” was unlikely. “Gun Free” zones guarantee that only the criminal will be armed.
The Trolley Square shooting demonstrated that engaging the bad guy as soon as possible buys time for the police to arrive. As an adult you are responsible for your safety. What are your plans for the 6 minutes MINIMUM that it will take for the police to arrive and take charge of the situation?
Its likely that most of the dead and wounded from yesterday were shot at close range; shooting moving targets is harder than it looks on TV. Laying on the ground in the fetal position hoping for the police to get there means death.
Those who carry weapons for self defense do so not out of a desire to get in a shoot out, but out of a desire to face deadly force with better odds.
The police have no duty to protect you.
Help is 6 minutes away.
What will you do?

Help is six minutes away in the VERY best scenario. This time of year you could and should expect a longer response time. If everyone carried a gun, I would think the criminal may take a moment to assess the situation and possibly think better of their actions. Once the news media stops sensationalizing these shootings, the sooner they will start to diminish.
Crazy people bent on committing mayhem will always find a way. If it is not a gun, it’ll be something else.
I wouldn’t describe myself as in “the Second Amendment crowd,” because I tend to have healthy respect for the entire Constitution and all its lovely amendments (especially the 21st).
Sometimes we forget that not everyone gets to enjoy the full bundle of rights and privileges. Children don’t have the same full range of rights as adults. Criminals and those adjudged to be mentally impaired don’t have the full range of rights as law-abiding and apparently sane people. If you live in a household with a child, a criminal, and/or a mentally impaired person, then you probably know you ought to buy yourself a very good lock for your guns. With rights come responsibilities. Just because you have a right, doesn’t mean you don’t need to be responsible in exercising it.
If the answer to “how can we be safer?” involves taking away any of the rights I now enjoy as a sane, law abiding adult, then the next question for me is: “do I really want to be that safe?” Usually, my answer is “no, leave me and my precious rights alone - and we’ll take our chances together.”
You know what I worry about most when I venture out into the world, as we enter the snowy, commute-in-the-dark time of year? I worry most about being run over by a Metro bus driver who doesn’t see me as I cross the street!!! =:-o
From USA Today:
Maruca-Kovac said she found the handwritten suicide note on the floor by Hawkins’ bed.
She said that he wrote that he loved his mom and dad and said he wasn’t “going to be a burden anymore.”
He also wrote a “will,” she said, giving his green Jeep Cherokee to his mother.
He ended the note by saying that now he would be famous.
This says it all!!!! They want to be famous for their deeds, once the media stops sensationalizing this, the sooner we will see it decrease.
Sounds like the poor dude needed a few less wheels and a few more hugs.
Sounds to me like he just needed a swift kick in the butt! Enough coddling these kids! If we can not be allowed to discipline our children with some swats on the a$$, then these types of things will only increase as well. There are not any serious consequences for behavior now a days. I can remember going out to the willow tree and bringing in my own switch for my a$$. IF that switch didn’t last for the entire disciplining session, I was instructed to go out and get another one. When I returned, it started all over again. This was not an everyday occurrence nor every infraction. This was done after ample chances were given to me to correct my behavior pattern. I swatted my daughter’s butt at the age of 2. When they are old enough to know what the word no means, they are old enough to understand negative reinforcement.
I was NEVER abused while growing up. I have not done any drugs that were not prescribed. I have smoked less than 2 cigarettes my entire 43 years of life. I drink Virginia wine on occasion and I have never been in trouble with the law except some fast driving awards.
Structure and discipline are the way. My children have never been in trouble with the law and are in college. Discipline works when it can be administered. IMHO there is a difference in discipline and abuse!!

To the poster with the long name (40K award):
I do wonder if this kid had to buy his own Jeep Cherokee.
When I was a teenager and wanted a car, my parents’ reaction was: “Okay, great, then go get a job.” My parents could well afford to buy me a car, but I didn’t really need one and I knew it as well as they did. But I got a job. When I had a decent pile of the money earned, then they helped me out. I still prefer my parents’ wise ways to the lazy, give-your-kids-everything parenting method that seems to have become more dominant lately.
When parents are strict but loving and responsive, then you grow a healthy respect for them. You also are more likely to see your parents as people to go to with your problems. Unfortunately, too many parents try to be friends, instead of doing their jobs as parents.
Advocator : “Sounds like the poor dude needed a few less wheels and a few more hugs.”
Quite the quandary (the hugs part)! The kid didn’t live with his ‘parents’ because he allegedly had issues with his stepmother. That’s a little odd to me. Where’s his FATHER? Did his father not want him at all? There’s been little, so far, explaining that.
Anyone would get [perky] standing next to the ice queen!

Google the following: UNC Chapel Hill SUV Attack.
Here … I’ll give you a head start:
http://jihadwatch.org/archives/010479.php
And who could possibly forget the horrid fate of James Byrd?
His story drew national, as well as international attention … while Ken Tillery, who suffered a very similar fate - at the hands of fiends who weilded a vehicle as a deadly weapon - barely made press.
No Oprah show for his grieving family, no NAACP, Jesse Jackson or Sharpton, no big name politicians voiced their outrage or compassion…

Hard to remember that which is never allowed the light of day.
Then again, the MOTHER of all homocide-by-vehicle stories was 9-11, and some of us regard it as the ultimate in faith-based initiatives.

Q. What 3 things in this photo are fake?
A. Hillary and,…
I enjoyed reading everyone’s gun owner vs lunatic comments. Thanks. I certainly do not claim to know the answer to this one and I rarely see the lunatic fringe issue addressed in 2nd amendment discussions. Certainly I want to keep weapons of all types out of the hands of people with mental problems. However, who decides who has mental problems? What criteria would be used? I don’t know the answer as stated above. Thanks to all who addressed my question.
Dolph,
No system will catch someone with no prior mental health history who “snaps”. That being the case the only practical answer for a rational adult is effective self defense.
“Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that’s it.”
From why the gun is civilization.
When you’re dealing with someone who WILL NOT use reason you’re left with force.
While we can lament these facts, and hope for a utopia that allows a different reality, we can’t do anything other than face them.
I would like to see the field of mental health change. I am not suggesting that we return to the ‘Snake Pit’ days but the idea of removing severely mentally ill people from mainstream society certainly makes sense to me. To do otherwise suggests that these people are rational enough to take the medication necessary to control their illness. They are not.
I definitely feel we have gone way to far in the wrong direction. The very idea that Fairfax County could not tell Tech about Cho’s disability just seems criminal to me…not criminal on the part of Fairfax County but criminal on the part of our legal system. The notion that nothing can be done unless that person demonstrates they are harmful to society is also wacked.
Equating a car to a gun or a baseball bat to a gun is not a good analogy. Cars and baseball bats exist for their own purposes. To use either for nefarious purposes is an aside. Guns exist for one reason: to stop something in its tracks. I don’t oppose this. I just don’t want kids or lunatics to have access to them.
Addendum: Make that kids without supervision to have guns. I am all in favor of kids having gun training under proper supervision.
I don’t normally look to Virginia political blogs for inspiring aesthetics, but this is halfway there.
Hillery’s girl friend?
