You Learn Something Every Day
By Greg L | 8 December 2007 | Illegal Aliens, Crime | 54 Comments
All along, I thought “Viva La Raza” meant “Long Live The Race”. Courtesy of the Washington Times, I see that perhaps it means illegal aliens, underage drinking, and drug dealing.
ICE agents coordinated with Anne Arundel police last month to round up nine illegals who authorities say were involved in underage drinking and the sale of illegal drugs at a Mexican restaurant and bar in Glen Burnie called Viva La Raza.
With that new understanding, this begins to make some sense:
This woman must have been drunk, and on drugs. That might well explain what happened. Now all I have to do is figure out what the heck is going on with the National Council of La Raza, because they often make about as much sense as this lady did.
Meanwhile, another MS-13 member, this time in Stafford County, plead guilty to murder and will get a life sentence, apparently getting a much more effective prosecution than the MS-13 murderers who were tried in the C.J. Angelos case. The Manassas Urinal-Massager, nor the Richmond Times-Dispatch which initially reported this are divulging the immigration status of this convicted murderer. I’m certain since it wasn’t mentioned, and these newspapers always do such a good job covering the news, that the lack of any mention of the convict’s immigration status must mean that this was not an illegal alien.
Likely lesson number two for today: Illegal aliens get more lenient treatment than legal residents and citizens from the justice system in Virginia.

A drug dealer uses the term la raza. Therefore the term itself represents drug dealing and everyone who uses that term is for drug dealing and gangs. That’s pretty stupid and contributes nothing to a discussion of the issues.
Maybe not. But, if you listen to the Washington COMPOST and other defenders of illegals, every single illegal is hard working and does a job that an American does not want to do, and of course is not a drain on the system.
I’d like you to provide a link to one comment in the Post that makes the claim that “every single” illegal is hard wroking and does a job that an American does not want to do and is not a drain on the system.
ElGuano - the fact that drug dealers choose to associate with this term gives it an inherent, negative connotation. It’s not necessarily the word itself, but those who use it in a pejorative, exlusive way that make it an un-American, racist phrase used by hispanics. In other words, you don’t hear of latino drug delaers or gangs calling themselves “Los Patriots de Americana”; now do you?
ElGuapo, perhaps you could sue the bar owner for defamation of character.
Drug dealers? More like undocumented pharmacists serving the community.
Lord knows the Viva La Raza name choice was in place to attract an Amish clientel.

The KKK refers to themselves as Christian. Unlike some people, I don’t assume that all Christian people hold the same beliefs as the KKK.
Nice try, but not really the same concept. I have to run, otherwise I’d try to explain it to you a little slower.
That’s what I thought.
Haha el guano. Now that was a good one mdman! Shukaka!
Hasn’t ICE gaught up with El Guano Guapo yet? Sheesh, he’s obviously easy to find since he’s doing all the work around town that us Yanks aren’t willing to do.

How can you claim illegal aliens get more lenient treatment if this guy got a life sentence?
Sheesh, he’s obviously easy to find since he’s doing all the work around town that us Yanks aren’t willing to do.

Adam Smith argued in favor of the free flow of capital and labor across borders. That is the conservative position. Unfettered capitalism requires dismantling the welfare state. Protectionism is the base of the welfare state and should be eliminated.
How many times are we going to replay the one good thing ICE has done lately. How many of the 242 at the ADC turned over to ICE have left the country?
Left the country, only to sneak right back in again, in a lot of cases.
ddpdrinker/One Voice,
We need that number! I know of at least one from PWC that was going to be deported. I was stricken from jury duty in Alexandria(Federal Court). Geez, I wonder why I couldn’t serve?
Let’s not forget the ones that get most if not all jail time suspended.
How about ICE issues a warrent for deportation, releases them and then tells them to show up in a few weeks for a deportation hearing.
So if 100 leave and 60% come back we are down 40%.
I still don’t see how anyone can claim 287(g) is working until we see how many are actually deported. The effectiveness measure is not identified it’s deported.
That’s like saying a stolen car case is solved when you find the car instead of saying it’s solved when you find the thief.
Guapo, did the KKK ever set up camp in Mexico and use their ethnicity in an effort to extort millions from the citiizens of Mexico via the Mexican government? The KKK Developement fund?

I wonder how quickly do they return once the are deported.
Medic64, had a idea about necklaces similar to ankle bracelets for those on house arrest for those that have been deported.
MdMan,*off topic*
Did you see this article about Anne Arundel County? Looks like they are taking the lead just like my native PWC. Immigration can’t be ignored any longer. Politicians at all levels nationwide need to WAKE UP!! We need a secure border, need employers to STOP hiring these illegals, and roll up the “red carpet” that’s been laid out for the illegals. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
http://www.washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071207/METRO/112070064/1001
Lafayette - Let’s start with how many from PWC ADC have been deported since July. That would be a good number to have. It needs to be qualified though - the actual question is “how many illegals sent to PWC ADC since July have been physically returned to their country”.
The way I understand it is that ICE issues a deportation warrant, releases them (unless they are a truly violent criminal) and asks them to show up for a deportation hearing.
The second question would be “of the 242 turned over to ICE, how many were issued a deportation warrant”. The third would then be “of those issued a deportation warrent how many showed up at federal court?”
THEN we will know if 287G is working or not.
To measure an effective outcome of the program, you have to know what your outcome is (turned over or deported I vote for deported) and have consistant data that is easy to obtain.
Also, we should closely follow the case of the woman who abused her children and then they found out she was illegal. If she is not deported I would question the program and be conerned about the future.
One Voice,
Wow! You’ve really got brain working overtime now. You bring up great questions. I will have to some digging. I like you want the facts first.
I certainly think the “worst of the worst” will be dealt with first as they should be. I agree the woman is the case to watch. I certainly consider child abuse one of the worst crimes. She should be DEPORTED. All criminals from small time to big time that are here illegally need to be sent packing back to their county of origin, and take their “anchor babies” with them. They are free to return to the USA when they are of legal age and can support themselves, be productive, and of course not be a drain on the taxpayers. By any chance do you have a link to that story, or where I might be able to find it?
As far as measuring the effectiveness consistant data is a must and needs to be made available for easy public access as well.
There’s still lots of dust to settle yet. I feel at least now we are on are way to getting control of the illegal immigration in our county.
One Voice,
I forgot to add this to the measuring factor. There’s much information that is public record it’s just not easily accessable.
With the nation watching the measures taken here PWC. I would think they would have a very user friendly means for all to see. I want the details as I imagine many others would too.
I agree we are on our way but don’t want to be once again let down by the feds. They MUST do this remaining part. WE are doing most of the hard work for them for free.
Yeah, if that woman doesn’t go, I will have very strong doubts about the program overall. She is one of the worst of the worst. Her children should be adopted and given the opportunity for sanity and love.
Lafayette,

In light of ‘innocent until proven guilty,’ it is difficult to say what will happen to Marilou Lopez until her child abuse trial. If found guilty, the answer becomes clearer. If aquitted, your guess is as good as mine.
Okay, I will cede to the practicallness of Dolph’s comments regarding innocent until proven guilty. I still support the system iffy as it is…
I have very few “absolutes” (!) in my life - child abusers are one.
But let’s not get sidetracked (which I started) - we need the actual numbers of deported and those that failed to show up for their hearing.
redawn,
Thanks for the articles and letter. I noticed the jury may have met Thursday 12/5. I didn’t see the docket that day. Doesn’t that just figure. I will keep my eyes peeled for Ms. Lopez’s case though.
Dolph,
Oh my, he voice of reason. We will have to wait and see.
Hold your horses lady.
Redawn -That was a good letter to editor. I particularly like his phraseaolgy regardng the convergence of the Democrats and Republicans. It was right on target - IMHO.
Dolph,
Stick to the numbers, please.-lol
Oh I think we all agree she must be found guilty first.

Just checked the PWC case management login and entered the defendent’s name Marilu Lopez and if I am reading it correctly, trial was on 5 Dec., pleaded guilty and was given 12 months jail with all suspended except for time served. I am not sure if I am reading this correctly but that’s what it appears to me. It was non-jury trial.

here is that excerpt from case management:

No, just a big time lurker for years, and a small time donor. Love the comments.
You?
Viva la Guano!!!
Vigilant1,
I hate to say it, but I’m not the least bit surprised. I hadn’t had a chance to check there yet. I’m glad to see you are on it. Yes, you read the mess right.
BTW-Still no new owner at the block on Strasburg. I will be calling zoning on the crap at 06 on my block. That trash pile just keeps getting bigger. I pictures from the first day it appeared. I will get new ones tomorrow. Also, same darn thing also at 06 King George. What’s with the 06’s?
Nice trash pile down there on Lafayette. The gift that keeps on giving.
Laf, I like your cultural diversity you have down there at your house. grin. (ducking for cover) I know, I am going to have to pay for that one!!
Lafayette’s house looks super. Too bad she doesn’t have a big tree in her front yard. Perhaps she can borrow that big one from the coke and a smile folks.
Lafayette & Dolph,
I saw that trash pile @ 06 as we did our little Christmas light tour starting with the Bofadini’s last night. YIKES ALMIGHTY.
There is / was another house on Manassas drive same thing. I have a suggestion for whoever it is, that has to go in and remove the stuff from the house (due to eviction or foreclosure) it would be nice if they call a place like Purple Heart or something like that. At least something good could come out of something bad, not to mention the EYE SORE.
Dolph,
“Lafayette’s house looks super. Too bad she doesn’t have a big tree in her front yard. Perhaps she can borrow that big one from the coke and a smile folks.”
She did have one and cut it down against my vote. We have cut our trees down too….and NOW I wish I hadn’t! How about you Laf?
Here are four articles from the Washington Post. They are all positive toward illegals, including pointing out millions are hard working etc. None of the articles or opinions mention anything negative about illegals.

Dolph,
Many thanks!(I think).
Please, do tell what’s so diverse about the “traditional Christimas colors”.
It’s still a work in progress. There’s more since you were busted on your little field trip of lights . That big tree looks great did they have the big star lit up tonight? I only miss my Bradford Pear that blew down this time of year. I have a much better view of Lafayette and I don’t have all those damn squirrels flying around from tree to porch cover.
You are lucky I’m in a halfway Christmas spirit. You better hope you don’t wake up one morning to find the “Santa Dolphin” has landed on your front lawn. My how easy it would be for the “enemy” to find you then. You’d be a sitting Dolph then.
Merry Christmas!
Lafayette,
Ah you mean those red, white, and green Christmas lights? It made me think of la bandera Mexicana. grin. And what’s this noise about being busted, Woman! I sat out there and honked the horn until ya came out…all draped in a Santa blanket. Ho ho ho. Things sure are jolly around the old ‘hood this weekend.
Your coke and a smile neighbors would have a better view of the decorations if they would move several of those trucks. They might have to put some red, white and green lights on those trucks. However, that is an awesome tree they have. Un árbol de Navidad inmenso!
Dolph,
Have you been bitten by the “green eyed monster”?
I sure with some elves would clean up 06. I’m thinking about a temporary screen name for the month of December.
Consider an oldie but goodie from younger days. Your so clever perhaps you could help me out.. How do you like Christmas?
It’s really close to my legal name.
Regarding those trucks them leaving Lafayette sure would make a nice Christmas gift. IMHO
Laf & Dolph,
WTF? who the bell stole Christmas?
corr
I sure WISH some elves..
Lafayette,
That is the idea behind my suggestion to whom ever has to throw out the belongings on the front lawn. my post at 9:00pm
I have a suggestion for whoever it is, that has to go in and remove the stuff from the house (due to eviction or foreclosure) it would be nice if they call a place like Purple Heart or something like that. At least something good could come out of something bad, not to mention the EYE SORE.
Anyway, NO, I am not saying there has to be the “sucker” that has to go in and clean up other/s mistakes but in the light of things, there are steps that we all can take to to help.
With the market being the way it is we will probably see more and more of this happening. With all the calls and bitching about zoning going to the wrong house , etc….
I am just saying they can only be in so many places ( at our tax dollars expense) at one time and given the situation, we should all do what we can do.
If I see this happen on my street, I will call and see if I can get some of this picked up and used by others ( another persons trash is another ones treasure)
Lafayette,
You are hereby christened ‘Mistletoe’ as your December name. That should be an oldie but goodie…..
Nothing has bitten me over here yet…but green is the new blue over there on Lafayette it seems.
I think those elves need to wear stirrups to get all that junk out of the yard at 06.
PARK’D:
You are looking for a NRA firearms instructor, as I recall;
see Bill Sly at Bill’s Auto Repair on Mathis.
Dolph,
You are too much lady! Mistletoe it is.
Those elves need stirrups and hope they are big like “Buddy the Elf”.
Green is the new blue…I’ve also heard it said recently 20 is the new 40. Nothing like being a teenager over here on Lafayette.
BTW-That’s Ms. Mistletoe to you Dolph!!
Dolph,
Take a look at 06 today. The elves must have landed in the middle of the night or very early this morning. Well, yet another improvement in the community.
Mistletoe,
See what happens when one wishes for elves:)
And a ho ho ho to you too. Beware of elves wearing nikes.
Ode to Mistletoe
The garbage elves worked thru the night
To make things merry and bright
I heard one confess,
Lets clean up this mess
So we don’t give Ms P such a fright.
Drive thru time for me…..
Only this time it might be merrier one? Is that yellow cape still looking dumpy?
That cape is looking pretty good. It’s been vacant one year coming up next week. I highly reccomend a drive by the Bonfadini’s on Forrester. You can’t miss the place, and it’s a walk down memory lane. Each year a new piece was added, and it was always something to do with the “hot toy” of the day.
