Lafayette

It has been a pleasure to watch you in action. You should pat yourself on the back. Few people can take on an emotional issue such as this and maintain some dignity and grace at the end of a heated discussion. I have no doubt that you would be able to take Ms. Chavez on a field trip and instill some questions in her head that had not occurred to her previously. That is the beginning of change. (The less effective style would be to grind her head into the pavement as we would all like to do, but would be pointless and rude).

Few people try to grasp the bigger picture depsite the fact that we all know that unintended impacts lurk behind every corner. Fewer people listen to any other side - where there might be some useful information.

Others would benefit from your style.

KEEP IT UP. You have fans and support outside of Westgate/Sudley - the comment simply irked me - but it was not your comment.

Dolph,
Staged, no doubt. We must remember they could've been sharing their house with other "family" members. :)

I would be more than happy to take Ms. Chavez on a "field trip" of some hard hit neighborhoods. I mean way more than my immediate blocks too. I know where these communities are countywide. Only a fool would think this illegal invasion has only effected WestGate/Sudley are. I did take a respresentative from the VA Attorney General's office on a "field trip" in late August, and this included some of Manassas Park and the City of Manassas. Once again, I did not limit the scope of the problem. I met the AG in the fall, and he thanked me for my efforts and taking the time to show his office first hand what we were dealing with on a daily basis. I truly think it made an impact.
I'm not one to pat myself on the back. However, I will say this I do and have done a lot more than most may realize. There's was a very balanced piece on PBS that aired in the fall I did. I wish some could have seen it. They would've learned a lot about the whole shooting match. All sides were equally represented, and although I did not agree with all sides it was a very well done segment. I know all I do, have done, and will continue you to do, and when I put my head down on my pillow each and every night I know I have done very my best, and sleep like a baby. :)

Thank you Dolph for yor take on Chavez.

Discredit and blame the victims. Punish the innocent and allow the guilty to continue acting with impunity.

Chavez doesn't like it when the (taxed) slaves forget their place and get uppity.

Lafayette,

I found it interesting that the man returning to Mexico had his belongings on the roof of his car. Seriously now, if you were returning to your homeland, where is the moving van, where is the trailer of household possessions? I expect that segment of the news clip was staged.

Linda Chavez has already released her report. We heard it on the video. So much for unbiased fact-finding. Too bad you can't take her on one of your famous 'field trips.' Just don't take her past Yogi Bear and the Santa Maria. Those are home-grown. Grin!

Check this out. One man has packed his family up and are moving back to Mexico. If in fact that's where they flee to.

A couple of points:
1) Linda Chavez wanting empirical evidence as to the illegal immigration problem is beyond the scope of her comission. What does that have to do with civil rights? If the new policies somehow infringe the civil rights of PW residents, then that is another story. Of course, I'm sure Chavez has no empirical evidence of such infringment. What a joke she is.
2) All this debate about whether HSM or FAIR of some other organization drafted the resolution is pointless. Due the input of the county staff and many individual members of the BOCS, the final version of the resolution that was passed by the BOCS is significantly different from what was originally proposed by Mr. Stirrup anyway. Thus, even if the original version was drafted by some other group, the final version was drafted by the members of the BOCS and the county staff.

Cliff Brown, I have nothing to hide behind. I use Medic because I was a Paramedic/Fire Fighter and a Hospital Corpsman in the US Navy. I am a service connected disabled vet (60%) and I feel strongly about ILLEGAL aliens.

One Voice and Anon,

My neighbor and I went to John Stirrup's office last January with the problems we've experienced in our neighborhood. We've called our local, state and U.S. representatives. Supervisor Stirrup listened to the constituents and presented a resolution that dealt with the problems we are facing in our neighborhood and in this county. This resolution wasn't concocted in the back room of Stirrup's office. It came about because concerned citizens took action. That is what representative government is all about. If you take offense at that, then you have a problem. I do credit the citizens of Westgate and Sudley for taking action to bring these problems to our representatives. There are a bunch of unsung heroes in my neighborhood and my next door neighbor is one of them.

Maybe the “rat bastard” misses the rats that were running to hood.
Maybe, this was one of their long lost friends. I'm glad they aren't around anymore. They took work from Zoning, Public Works, PWCSA, Health Dept., and yes even VDOT. Yet, I'm the "bad guy". Yeah right.

Use a handle of some kind, come out of the shadows so you can be identified. My real email address is used when they ask for an email address here. It includes my name and my business, not some free email service.

I use my real name and email address too. Anyone, is more than welcome to ask Greg L for my contact info. Sounds like the same could be said for you.

Anons(ALL),
Use a handle or even put a number or character after anon. It's very hard to keep you cowards straight. I put the heat on an anon one night, and they became "Vigilant1". I have the utmost respect for them to do that. The rest of you should do the same. Also, I've posted under my real name, and have even said it when some thought they were being kind by not saying my real name. Also, I think most know what "Lafayette" means too. Do you? I came right back and gave it. In fact I will put name here now. Are you willing to do the same?
I bet NOT!

If Westgate and Sudley goes [sic] can they take Patty and Layfette [sic] with them?

Anonymous - you have no right to disparage people you do not know (Patty and Lafayette). I personally know both Patty and Lafayette and PWC needs more people like them. They take action where action is needed - whether it is contacting the police about crimes - or contacting zoning about overcrowding, health code violations, refuse piles, etc...

The condition and safety of our neighborhood has drastically improved because of these ladies taking action.

Lafayette truly inspires me with her dedication to our community, our county, and our country.

Lafayette,

Any time you stick your neck out, as you have, there will always be some rat bastard who wants to chop it off, for whatever reason. As long as you know you are doing what needs to be done, the rat bastards should become irrelevant.

In my former life, I always knew I was doing a good job when someone called me a bitch. Wear those nasty-grams as a red badge of courage. Collect them with pride. It means you are disturbing someone's comfort level and it probably needed disturbing.
