Osborn HS Has New Openings
By Greg L | 21 December 2007 | Crime, Manassas City | 29 Comments
Osborn High School in Manassas has two new openings for teachers. In order to qualify, you have to be able to instruct young men and women, and not be a drug dealer, since the last two got busted for being pot dealers.
Sheesh.
From the MJM:
Two Osbourn Park High School teachers have been arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, Prince William County police said.
Thomas Cole Williams, 27, and Sarah Maureen O’Sullivan, 25, both of whom live at that apartment, were charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, Hernandez said.
I’ve been hearing a lot of stories about this school and the challenges it’s been facing. Let’s hope this incident serves as an impetus to crack down on gangs and other activity that detracts students from getting the quality education that Osborn has always been able to deliver.

Is it Orsborn or Orsborn Park High School? There is a difference. Orsborn is in the City of Manassas, Orsborn Park is a PWC school.

P.S. There is no E in Orsborn.
Correction —– Both should be Osbourn. Time to go to bed!
It’s Osbourn Park HS, and it’s a county school on Euclid Ave.
Where are the grammar police tonight?
For some reason I keep trying to append an “e” to Osborn. My apologies.
WHO EVER READS this let me tell you that Op has a lot of problems going on. Drugs, gangs, and racial disputes are just the start. Drugs are by far #1, teachers, AND ADMINISTRATORS are involved. First hand experience shows me that. I attented Op starting in 06 but did not grad. from there ….. People need to investigate deeply into administrators and what is swept under the rug. Certian people are allowed back into the school after being in possesion of subtances 100% of these people have been avid sports players. I was in court for a certian Op problem (away from it all now) but 9 people were on the docket from Op with a drug related charge. Maybe this is normal but I feel 9 plus me in one day for one school is a bit much. Again like i said administrators have much to do .They are not following rules and no one can prove this becuase they have not been investigated. Please look into this if you have the power. I have reached the end of my power. Graduated from an Online Program but want Op to be helped out.
Hmmmm….teacher pay must be even lower than we thought. Poor dears were just supplementing their income. They are also our neighbors.
The article says Osbourn Park. Osbourn High School is a completely different school. You owe it to those who go to OHS to make an immediate correction and apology.
Greg,
Osbourn HS is a Manassas City school. Osbourn Park is a county school. The teachers busted were from Osbourn Park. Please correct your post.
is there anyone willing to wait until these people are convicted before stating that they are drug dealers? I do believe we should grant them the same privilege that the courts offer them, to be considered innocent until proven guilty.
Greg,
A real shoot from the hip posting — blogs need
to practice a little old school journalism– check your
facts and then check them again. The teachers
are from Osbourn PARK in PWC — NOT Osbourn in
the City of Manassas.
(But, to be fair, it can be confusing. In the
early 1970’s PWC decided to replace OHS in Manassas
with a new school — everything would transfer there.
Manassas Park folks felt left out so PWC pols said
what the heck — name it Osbourn Park. BUT while
this was happening, the GA declared a moratorium
would be coming on towns taking city status. Manassas,
consequently decided to move to become a city -
quickly followed by Manassas Park. ( The cities had
to race to build their own schools, while for
years OPHS was under utilized.)
The fact that OPHS took the Yellow Jacket name
and all the old trophies when it opened still rankles
some Manassas City folks.

My mom, my aunt, and their classmates are some those you speak of. OPHS, a very dark page in our history as far I’m concerned. My sister was at SJHS at the time, and parents were so thankful they weren’t living in the City.

Medic64,
Was that pair of teachers you neighbors?
You do live in West Gate Apts., right(per your posts)?

You’re watching too much Spiderman, dude!
Ron Small –
Arggg! It isn’t “Osborn” - with or without an “e”.
Osbourn High School is the correct spelling.
You’re watching too much BVBL, dude!
Greg
Another example of your not getting the facts right. Do you have a vendatta with the City Schools or Government
For the record the school is a PW County school, Oscourn Park High School.
That would be OSBOURN Park High School in PWC.
(The high High school?)

NO DRUGS FOUND AT STONEWALL JACKSON HS AND PARKSIDE MIDDLE.

It’s hard to read this blog sometimes, considering the number of grammatical errors…ugh…and factual errors. You really need to go back and correct the title of the post to reflect OPHS, not OHS. That’s just not right to leave inaccurate info. up there.
I brought this up as a reason why blogs leave themselves open for criticism in another thread and was soundly dismissed, saying I was the only one concerned about OHS’s “precious image.” I have friends that work there and send their kids to school there. If you are going to report news, you have a responsibility to run the story correctly. If you don’t, you are failing you readers.
I know Greg is on vacation, but this was pointed out in this thread a few times before Greg opened his Christmas thread as he left town. I can’t imagine why he doesn’t want to correct this error.
Wow! I must have missed the articles about the OPHS teachers. It saddens me as a teacher to hear that there are some that would break the law in that way. But it was not so long ago when I read that a AP at a Fairfax elem school was arrested for growing pot in his home. That same week, a Fairfax middle school teacher was arrested for showing up to work intoxicated. But it is unfair to label a school as less because of the behavior of a few idiots that despite an education, engage in risky/illegal behavior. There have been cops arrested this year on child porn charges, a head honcho with INS arrested for harboring an illegal alien girl friend, the tax scandal in the DC tax office, etc. The world is full of stupid people, and some of them are coaches, ministers, cops, teachers, FBI agents, CEO’s etc. But Dolph when you blow off such behavior with flip comments about low paid teachers, you just hurt the good teachers more by the suggestion that those who commit the crimes, do so because they are low paid. Teachers who deal drugs do it because they are flawed some way in their character. There are millions of teachers in this country that don’t make much money, yet they do not engage in criminal behavior.
I am starting not to believe… Even though I don’t embrace everything he says, I respected that he knew what he was talking about and listened to what he had to say. Honestly, I am not so sure anymore.
Wow, who would have thought it? The anonymous’s of the world are starting to “not believe Greg”.
Oh, and jfk tells us who you really are.
Lafayette, They are not that close to me. I live on the other side of the property, but thanks for thinking about me (c;
/\/\3|)iç 64,
That’s good news. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it was over there by the PWPD Sub-Station.
He obviously has a vendetta against everything and everyone who disagrees with him….and how can he know anything about manassas..the one he is helping to save…if he doesnt even know the difference between OHS and OPHS??
Rumor has it that the school is ACTUALLY named after singing legend Ozzy Osbourne and will be Northern Virginia’s answer to “School of Rock” - lol
Now seriously, did anyone here think I was serious?

SARCASM BUTTON ON
Sorry I left it off for those of you who are literal minded.
What am I supposed to do, lie down and gnash my teeth because some young teachers did something stupid? I probably watched young teachers do stupid, in some cases, illegal things, before some of you all were born. Life goes on.
OFFICIAL STANCE ON THIS ISSUE: Teachers in PW Co should not sell drugs.
I still can’t believe this post was never corrected to OPHS.
