Anonymous,

That's a good question ... I have never come across an article or document that named the immigration attorney. I don't believe he was ever convicted, but I had read that he was disbarred.

Bridget beat me to the punch on wet foot dry foot. And I agree with her position that the politicization of our asylum and refugee policies only adds to the chaos if the immigration system as it is implemented today.

The wet foot/dry foot policy is a prime example of why we should stop politicizing our asylum and refuge policies - asylum should not be granted based on the foreign policy of the moment - on the approval or disapproval of the government of the applicants homeland.

Completely off-topic here, but I need some help. I've recently
been reading letters in the JM regarding Gary Jacobsen's
opinion pieces and most of the letters are rather negative, so
this morning I decided to give Jacobsen a chance. Obviously,
he is very pro-illegal and writes of poor old Juan Valdez and
his arduous journey from his pathetic life in Central America,
etc. etc. When, at the end of the article, I read what "Juan"
had penned on a piece of paper provided by a police officer,
these words, "wet-foot, dry-foot", all I could say was "WHAT
THE HELL??"
Please, can one of my BB's (Blog Buddies) help me out here?
What does this mean? I've never heard the expression, "wet-
foot, dry-foot" before, so somebody please enlighten me.

Laf, my guess is that the health department is not summoned to apartments where tenants have broken the lease terms for occupancy ... again, it is a slumlord set up. All manor of illegal activity ... unlicenced babysitting, food peddling, prostitution etc... police playing cat and mouse with gangs ... I would bet Fairfax county long ago struck a deal with the landlord regarding this hands-off set up.

Bridget,
Thank you. I'm like you yesterday. I don't what I can say that wouldn't get me banned from bvbl.

This "no man's land" exists with all neighboring counties. This is good for criminals, I guess. However, it doesn't do one thing good for the law abiding citizens.
I'm sick that a girl age 11 would have to have her mother escort to the bathroom. These parents are doing their children NO FAVORS by have unkowns living with them. I wonder if they share houses with strangers in their countries of origin.
Anyone know?
Where's Social Services in the case of the roach infested house. This unhealthy living conditions for anyone, and certainly for innocent children. I could go on and on, but I will stop for now.

Lafayette,

Culmore is on the border of Fairfax and Arlington, just off route 7. I live on the Arlington side - sad but true. The border areas between counties seem to become a sort of no-man's land where each county dumps its unwanted urban blight. Weird zoning and industrial park stuff.

Culmore, a large WWII era apartment complex is now a sort of low rent slumlord area which is heavily populated by immigrants. Not sure of the whole history, but many central American refugees where settled in this spot in the early '80.

The two main topics that brought it notoriety are the Culmore 7-11 link to 9/11 and MS13.

WOW my hood of Manassas Park in 4 or 5 of those top threads! Way to go guys! .....not

I still find it hard to believe that that kind of stuff ACTUALLY went on in this town and the State Police and FBI have refused to do anything about it. It just doesn't make any sense if this is the case.
