Comments Now Working

It’s always difficult to make code changes on this site while children are running amok.
Users may have noticed that since about 4:00PM until now, users posting comments were receiving an error. That appears to have been fixed, now that I’ve had a chance to actually test (and debug) the code change I installed this afternoon.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but I am always working to stay only one step behind the armies of spammers and a few problem children that make hosting a blog with wide-open comments possible without requiring extraordinary efforts in policing the comments threads. I block over five hundred spam comment attempts every day on BVBL, and filter about another hundred through a variety of third-party and custom code so readers don’t have to wade through huge volumes of pure junk. Usually, these efforts are invisible for readers, but occasionally there’s a hiccup.

Greg L,
Thanks.
I think life can’t get much better than when you have have children running amok ……. they grow too fast.
Greg - you are the man…thanks for all your hard work!!!
Thank You very much
Children running amok? End of days, people, end of days …
We are so doomed…
(Falls out of chair in abject despair)
You know, years ago, while was standing on a crowded city subway platform holding my firstborn, I found myself face to face with a moment I would never forget.
A very tall, elegantly dressed elderly gent aproached me, gazed down at my squigly muffin of a baby - then looked me straight in the eye and said “Enjoy every moment.”
Thinking he was perhaps going to ask me for directions, or if I had the time of day, I may have managed a smile. But he did not wait for a response or say another word, just turned and walked away into the crowd.
Greg L, this is one heck of a service you provide and maintian, and don’t think we don’t admire and appreciate your Herculian efforts . But don’t ever apologize for or feel the need to explain your needing to be a dad.
Just hang up that “Gone amoking with the kids” sign.
And enjoy, please, by all means, enjoy every moment.
Yes, Greg…I echo the sentiments regarding our appreciation for your
efforts. You’ve provided such valuable information (I, for one, gave up
my subscription to the MJM) and just being able to come on here and
ask questions and express your frustrations as well as your joys has meant
so much to a lot of folk. You are an important segment to our every-
day lives.
Greg,
Enjoy them while there little…they just get bigger and badder.

Look at the winners Sharon Pandak and John Steinback. The PWCHRC sure know how to pick ‘em.

I, like Gone Fishing, gave up my subscription as well.
Being a web programmer, I fully understand the complicated lines of code. They can quickly blur into the next and finding bugs can be a monumental effort. I applaud your blog for the uptime it has. This shows an ongoing effort on your part to maintain it. I am offering some assistance if you desire it. Most of my web programming is with classic ASP and M$SQL and Access back-ends. I am extremely proficient with HTML. I have been developing web presences since 1995, so I am not a “Johnny come lately” developer. Please email my address if you wish to discuss further. I can provide a resume if needed.
