The key is to dry up the jobs. I read an article where an ILLEGAL alien was telling his family not to come because the jobs were not here anymore.

Not only was the paper flyer distributed via th school system, the directive was to hand them out to Latino students only. That notation, from the top of my paper copy, was made by a school teacher I know.

Neither calculation includes the estimated 800,000 that come in or return each year.

There are 94 federal courts in the US. Assume that two courtroom run 35 hours per week per court doing deportation hearings. That is 6,580 hours a week for all 94 courts. Assume a 48 week average per year that’s a total of 315,840 hours of deportation hearings. Assume 30 minutes per hearing thats 157,920 deportation hearings per year.

Oh, the other group I would go after are the companies that print the fake document supplies. Bet they aren’t illegal businesses; nice legitimate American God fearing folk that don’t control what is done with their products. (yeah) What else are you going to do with paper that looks like a social security card or drivers license. Then I would go after the fake document mills.

This week in PWC our leaders decided to go after the elderly in our community that might be having a free supper. We should be focused on the IRS going after the employer and DHS/ICE tripling (sp disclaimer) the deportation rate.

Agree with Medic large fines but I would ADD public humiliation of the employer - the highest executive in the corporation. Holding companies all the way up.

Finally, few provisions exist in immigration law to bar gang members from obtaining U.S. residency. For example, some gang members have been able to avoid removal because they qualify for temporary protected status (TPS) awarded to Central Americans after natural disasters that took place in 1998 and 2001.

This is the scarey part. Since they are “protected” they can’t be deported. Lets remove the temporary protected status. After 10 years of being in this country because of a hurricane, the time is past due to return them back to their country. The President of el Salvador made a statement not long ago requesting more extensions of the protected status for his citizens because he said there are no jobs for them and the country needs the money they send back every week. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Madison, WI: Dane County Jail officials are thinking about not telling Immigration and Customs officials when they arrest certain illegal immigrants.

That’s because officials are worried about a severe backlog in the court system; if every illegal immigrant is worried jail time will lead to automatic deportation.

Anthony Delyea is a public defender. The court pays him to represent the poorest defendants. By his count he handles nearly 250 cases a year, and more than a 100 involve illegal immigrants.

Delyea says 98% of his cases never see a courtroom, as his clients take plea deals for reduced sentences. That is changing. “I have three cases that are going to go to trial that would have settled before.”

The change occurred at the federal level. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, is now working to deport illegals convicted of even the smallest crime. “If you enter a plea to something as relatively minor as operating after revocation and you have to serve any jail time you might be deported,” says Delyea.

Now the only way to avoid jail time and possible deportation is to go to trial, even with a longshot case. Delyea says trials take time, and they are expensive- both for him and the court system. “When you start thinking about how much that’s going to cost it’s almost terrifying to me.”

“It really surfaced about a couple months ago,” says Peter Munoz, the Director of Centro Hispano. He says members of the illegal immigrant community are scared, and they may stop reporting crimes or skip court dates to avoid deportation. “It’s creating this tremendous problem, where ICE is actually acting immediately, placing those holds and deporting people.”

The topic came up at a meeting of the Dane County Criminal Justice Group. Sheriff Dave Mahoney says for more than three decades they have notified ICE when an illegal immigrant is booked in the jail-usually about 20 times a month.

Most of the time ICE would only put holds on a few. But last fall ICE put detainers on 60% of illegal immigrants in the jail. “When we inquired as to October and November why there was this spike, their response was, we had a significant increase in staff, which resulted in our ability to respond,” says Mahoney.

The Sheriff and the District Attorney have agreed to examine the policy to notify ICE about illegal immigrants in the jail.

They say one possibility is to only notifiy ICE about those charged with the most serious offenses.
