Channel 8 discussed the Rt.1/Parkway 7-Eleven last night regarding the illegals. Police are trying to “shooh” them away. Our very dear friend, Nancy Lyall, was there to give her worthless two cents by saying “they’re not doing anything illegal”….. blah blah blah.
    I was shocked!! (NOT).

    Rob,
Funny you should mention that. I just got rid of all my firearms and replaced with new ones. Rem 870 Express 20 gauge with Knoxx Spec Ops Stock and magazine extension (SHTF gun), Beretta CX4 Storm in 9mm, Colt AR-15 (A3 LEO), and a Ruger 10/22 for plinking.

    Krusty,

You didn’t ask me, but I’ll help out with what could be sweet about a shotgun. Unfortunately, the sweet ones are the REALLY expensive ones. There are certain Ayo and Beretta side-by-sides that have beautiful engraving, a stock made out of a gorgeous piece of wood. The best way I’ve heard it described was “examples of the gunmakers art”. It’s almost more about the craftsmanship and beauty of the materials than about the fact that it shoots lead out of it. I would propose that these almost artistic pieces could be sweet. Feel free to disagree.

    MCR,

Since when is loitering ok? Why was she even there at 7-11. Good grief.

Oh well, its 7-11’s business. If they can make enough off of vagrants and don’t need the rest of our business, go at it. When 7-11 has had enough business lost, my guess is that the loitering will stop.

McCain was like a parrot. He just keeps saying the same couple of sentences over and over, and it looks like he’s going to be the Republican candidate…sigh. What was really annoying about the debate was how CNN basically shut down Paul and Huckabee in front of the whole viewing audience. The media (in my opinion) has a little too much influence on this whole process.

“POLICE ARE TRYING TO “SHOOH” THEM AWAY”

Wake up America, there is now a de facto two tier system of law enforcement in this country. YOU obey the laws, while illegal aliens do whatever, wherever, whenever they want without punishment.

We all see how selective law enforcement is working in the city of Manassas and in PW county. What to do about it is up to you! Being silent and uninvolved is not the answer.

    Yes, loitering is ILLEGAL.
You don’t know who there is legal and who isn’t. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being a daylaborer.
You don’t know if they are declaring this money or not. It’s just like anybody else that works in a field where they are paid cash like a waiter/waitress.

Also, last I checked it’s not illegal to hire them either. You can legally pay someone without paying social security etc… if it’s not more than $250 per year. I haven’t checked this in years, so maybe it’s changed but it used to be this way.

Krusty, If Rob Smalls is between 16-45 and fit, He’s a member of unorganized militia and maybe called to service at any time by Governor of Virginia. Generally militia means you show up with your own arms. To show up when called, he must own require guns to do so.

You don’t need a gun. SHould you worry? Apparently since your asking that question I guess not. Just remember, PWC PD average response time to hot calls is 6 minutes from 911 call being placed to first officer on scene. If your house is being invaded or criminals are surrounding your car, that’s going to be the longest 6 minutes of your life. VT shooting was only 9 minutes long but I bet for everyone in that room, it felt like 9 days.

    News today:

Congress has been working into the night and early morning hours trying to get bi-partisan support for The WASABI (The Wolfgang And Stainless Appliance and Blender Initiative). Many members are afraid the initiative will cause many frozen drinks to become impossible to make. WASABI has been introduced to make the Wolfgang Puck and other stainless steel appliances illegal. The blender has been the main target of the initiative. “Congress is just not ready to give up their drinking habits”, stated Senator Ted Kennedy (D MA) at a news conference earlier today.

It is expected that WASABI will die in the ATF committee later this week.

I love how the Washington COMPOST of late has had a few folks from Manassas in their fish wrap complaining about the “reputation” the City is getting and how businesses are turned off by the attempts to control illegal aliens and the problems they bring.

Well, all we have to do is look at the Route 1 area and see exactly what happens when illegals are able to openly live and operate. Yes, that area may have started down hill before illegal aliens stated to move into the area, but the illegals have almost made it impossible to turn the tide.

Maybe those folks who have complained about the “reputation” of Manassas can move onto Route 1, that way they can be with their brethren, and we can replace them here in the City with folks who believe in the rule of law and would like to see the City become a model for families and how to combat all crime.

This tidbit is from the article below on Manassas City schools.

That’s because enrollment in the English for Speakers of Other Languages program have spiked, too, reaching nearly 28 percent of the city’s student population in fiscal 2008, recently released school budget figures indicate. By comparison, Fairfax County and Prince William County schools provide ESOL services to 13 and 14 percent of students, respectively. Loudoun County, meanwhile, has 8 percent of its students in ESOL

I just did a dark “field trip” of nearby Sudley streets.

I noticed that the sign had been moved to across the street. Maybe someone complained that they didn’t need another “obsticle” to go around when cutting the grass (fire hydrant, stop sign and NW sign.) lol

There have been two vehicles (car and p/u truck) in front of that house that haven’t moved in weeks. I notice that today the car that had the guy with the foldup mattress last week is back. Keeping eye out as to what is going on there. May be nothing, but then again……..

Still nothing re who is running the NW (if anyone.)

Maybe, we are the NW and haven’t be duputized yet.lol

    Loudoun,
That’s right some of our “neighbors” have and are still moving to the city. 08 Woodstock moved to the city, and yet there kids are still attending Sudley. I wonder if the women you saw were one of the several moms that vacated that house before the bank took it.
Also, The Queen’s 8th grade English class at SMS is on their fourth teacher this year! What the hell. Well, Mrs. Davenport better stay to see the year out. She’s had the first teacher until Novemeber, the second teacher was there the month of Novemeber/December, and then Mr. G.(perm. sub that had a permanent position until they high jacked his science lab to make room for Manes Pierre) the month of January.
Any other parents out there in this English class or that’s on their fourth teacher this year?

Reagan’s Son ON the subject of John McCain
    http://www.reagan.com/column.cfm?id=52

    John McCain Hates Me
By Michael Reagan January 31, 2008

Until last night, when I watched the Republican debate, I had no idea how much John McCain dislikes me and just about everybody else but Rudy Giuliani, who if you believe The New York Times is a pretty good hater himself.

As I watched McCain and Governor Romney go at it during the debate at the Reagan Library I was struck by the huge gap that separates McCain — whose contempt for his fellow humans is patently obvious — and my dad, Ronald Reagan, who had nothing but the deepest affection and respect for the American people.

The feeling is mutual between McCain and me. I don’t like the way he treats people. You get the impression that he thinks everybody is beneath him. He seems to be saying, “I was a war hero, and you had damn well better treat me as your superior.”

He has contempt for conservatives who he thinks can be duped into thinking he’s one of them, despite such blatantly anti-conservative actions as his support for amnesty for illegal immigrants, his opposition to the Bush tax cuts which got the economy rolling again, and his campaign finance bill which skewed the political process and attacked free speech.

I am appalled by his contempt for the intelligence of his listeners when he flat-out lies and expects them to believe what he says even when the truth is staring them in the face.

A prime example cited by columnist Robert Novak was McCain’s denial that he had privately suggested that Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito was too conservative, insisting that he recalled saying no such thing, adding that Alito was a “magnificent” choice.

“In fact,” wrote Novak, “multiple sources confirm that the senator made negative comments about Alito nine months ago.”

In last night’s debate, McCain stubbornly defended his charge, false on the face of it, that Romney wanted a deadline for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq.

“I have never, ever supported a specific timetable” for withdrawing troops, Romney said, adding that McCain’s accusation on the eve of Tuesday’s primary “sort of falls into the dirty tricks that I think Ronald Reagan would have found reprehensible.”

What Romney said last April, was merely that U.S. and Iraqi leaders “have to have a series of timetables and milestones that they speak about” in private, which in no way suggests he was in any sense talking about troop withdrawals.

Despite the evidence, McCain charged that “of course he said he wanted a timetable” for a withdrawal, even though he had never said any such thing. It was McCain daring to ask us if we wanted to believe our lying eyes or his demonstrably false allegation.

McCain must think conservatives are dumb enough to allow him to get away with claiming he’s one of them. This is from a man who opposed drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska and who twice voted against President Bush’s tax cuts and sponsored the campaign-finance reform legislation that Romney claimed “took a whack at the First Amendment.”

In John McCain’s eyes, conservatives are the Viet Cong of this generation and he treats us as such. It’s either his way or no way.

I despise his habit of talking down to us, like a wise father to an idiot son. He’s just at a loss to understand why everybody doesn’t grovel at his feet and accept his every word as wisdom handed down from his lofty perch atop Mt. Olympus.

I can’t help it. I know in my heart he hates me, and every conservative. If he gets the nomination the only way he could win against Hillary or Barack Obama would be to be part of a McCain-Limbaugh ticket.

I think Michael Reagan has a deepseated problem. Aside from that:

Now we have McCain, Romney, Obama, and Clinton. One thing is certain: ONE of these four WILL be president of the United States of America.

Does anybody feel like I do that there’s something wrong with a system that, in my opinion, repels truly sharp, intelligent people to run for president due to the length and the cost of the procedure? And it’s not only the money. The candidates’ families suffer; stuff that happened 20-30 years ago is dug up; every word is turned and spun and can be interpreted any which way. They met somebody 15 years who at the time was an nice, honest guy. He later gets into trouble for some reason, and, WHAM, that is held against the candidate.

I don’t have any idea how the system can be changed. Imagine all the handlers who’d be without “work”! The television companies! Speech writers! Printing plants! On and on….

    Minorities

We need to show more sympathy for these people.
    * They travel miles in the heat.
    * They risk their lives crossing a border.
    * They don’t get paid enough wages.
    * They do jobs that others won’t do or are afraid to do.
    * They live in crowded conditions among a people
    who speak a different language.
    * They rarely see their families,
and they face adversity all day every day.

    I’m not talking about illegal Mexicans;
    I’m talking about our troops!
Doesn’t it seem strange that many Democrats and Republicans are willing to lavish all kinds of social benefits on illegals, but don’t support our troops and are now threatening to defund them?

By Michael Reagan January 31, 2008

The same statements were made on CNN (Wolfe Blitzer) last night. People who watched the debate said McCain is a person full of hate and dislike for his fellow man. I personally believe he has a dark side to his personality. As much as I would hate to see Clinton or Obama in the office, I will not give my vote to McCain. Amnesty would be guaranteed for all illegls if he won. Ham Sandwich would be a better candidate.

  93. Krusty said on 1 Feb 2008 at 11:09 am: Flag comment

TDB - I say, bring them all back home so they can take over the jobs that won’t be done after we put all the illegals on the bus south. But pay them well and “lavish all kinds of social benefits” on them all. They definitely deserve no less. I sincerely mean that.

Of course, the US troups weren’t exactly invited into Iraq, as I remember (illegal immigrants, and armed toboot), blasting the capital city into smithereens in order to gain entry. At least, that hasn’t happened here. The ones who tried to destroy Washington, didn’t come from Mexico or Central America or Iraq but from our not yet smoked-out enemies in the mountains between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

After writing this (slightly sarcastic) I want to say that I feel for our military. They have an enorm task and should be given all the support we can muster. And their families back home need more support. Those who come home with broken bodies and souls should be first in line for quality assistance. My god, how helpless I feel!

I admire and respect our war heroes and POWs, but I don’t want it continually thrown in my face as a reason to vote for someone. What Juan McAmnesty needs to understand is that “War Hero” and “Good President” have nothing to do with each other. One need look no further than the presidency of U.S. Grant to prove the point. My guess is it will be McCain vs. Clinton (maybe Obama?) Either Dem will easily hand McCain his behind (that wouldn’t even be close). Oddly enough, I think the Dems have the right idea when it comes to smacking the snot out of businesses that hire illegal immigrants. Hit businesses hard, I mean make it hurt, and the jobs will dry up, and many will go home. The republicans consistently prove their are completely enslaved to corporate greed, and will only pay lip service to illegal immigration. The problem I see with the Dems is they see millions of illegal immigrants as millions of votes, so I don’t see any of them having the integrity to do anything about it either. The media will take care of (destroy) anyone with integrity, so we’re left with Clinton, Obama, and McCain. I’m depressed now, might as well go to bed :)

The best protest is to not vote at all. Low voter turnout would be the best way to let the parties know we are unhappy with the choices given to us. I know that many people feel it is their duty to vote. I think it is my duty to vote my conscience, and I cannot in good conscience vote for McCain or either of these democrats.

I agree with you all. I don’t want McCain! He rides his POW status like Guiliano (sp?) rode his 9/11. Only difference is that McC’s “event” happened much longer ago and should not be brought up time and time again. We sure do have some choices this time around. Alas!

I saw a couple of comments wondering about McCain. I spent 1968-1971 in various parts of South-East Asia and watched a bit of his story play out in the press (although we had no idea what he went through until he was released). The following link is to an interview he gave to U.S. News & World Report in 1973 (shortly after he was released).

    http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1084711/posts

I don’t plan to vote for the man. The threat of 100 more years in Iraq and his “closet liberal” views helped me make my decision (frankly, Hillary doesn’t look that bad these days). I do; however, salute his military service and honor his sacrifice. His refusal for early release when offered (because his captors found out who his father was) demonstrated the highest standards of conduct for a military man.

I hold those who disparage his record and service right below an illegal immigrant.

I am not a McCain fan. However, I would never say he isn’t a war hero and I don’t think anyone here has the right to say that either. Just surviving the Hanoi Hilton makes him one in my eyes. I will never forget seeing those POWs get off the plane on TV. It was heartbreaking, yet filled my heart with pride.

Does being a POW make one presidential material? Probably not. I just do not like hearing that he isn’t a war hero. (and I have no intention of voting for him) Suggestion: Stick to relevant issues.

    MCR,

I said nothing about not discussing candidates. I said I didn’t like people saying that McCain is not a war hero. I really don’t think anyone here is in the position to make that claim.

However, anyone is entitled to make a determination about who should be president based on a candidate’s position and past performance on issues.

Did you read the articles posted above? Just curious. If not, you really should.
We really don’t need to talk about whether or not he’s a war hero - he pretty much takes care of that all by himself…..on a pretty regular basis.

MCR, Yea, and the fact that it was Vietnam Veterans Against McCain put me off. I would have to have those charges documented before I believed them. However, I have no intensions of voting for McCain so I wouldn’t go to the trouble of confirming or denying the accusations.

I just don’t like swiftboating people. I don’t think that one’s vietnam (or any other war) experiences qualify a person for public office but it enhances that persons desirability. We honor vets. We honor veterans of war more than those who weren’t in the service during war time, although perhaps not consciously. Those who suffered such as a POW or lost limbs are seen in an especially good light.

While I will probably never vote for McCain for many other reasons, I will never diss him over his service to his country or his time he spent as a POW. He simply does not deserve that.

I understand families wanting the American dream….especially if some schlock realtor convinced you that you could afford this house if you….fill in the blanks. Some of those guys are real hard sell. Rents were also getting steeper and steeper. I expect a lot of people thought they were going to save some money buy buying a house and taking in a room mate or 2.

The realtors and lending institutions knew exactly what they were doing. Shame on them.

    Dolph,

Did those Realtors hold a gun to the heads of those people?

I may go into a car dealership and have a guy try and sell me a car, which is his job, but it is my responsibility to take the time and think if I can afford it.

Or, put it another way….. Burger King attempts to sway me to buy from them, but it still takes an effort on my part to go the local BK lounge and buy from them. Illegals abused the system, and did not care what they were doing, because they realized they could just walk away without any personal responsibility, just like they did when they broke into the Country.

Yes, with no money down they had nothing to lose. Just a place to stay until they got kicked out. It explains why these houses are run down. They never put one penny in upkeep. All their extra money went towards cars, tvs, anything they could take with them.

    COM,

I was speaking nationally. I was not talking about illegals. If you look at the numbers of foreclosures around the country, they certainly are not limited to illegal aliens. In fact, I am not even going to say the ones here are were owned by illegal aliens. I do not know.

Many people nationally were tricked and lied to. Some were given information that just was not accurate. Other folks had their circumstances change.

    Dolph,

If you review the foreclosure listings in the local papers, the vast majority of the foreclosures are of owners with Hispanic names. In the foreclosures on my street and surrounding streets, I can attest that each house was owned by Latinos and the houses were overcrowded. To me this suggests that the homes were owned by illegal aliens - having no respect for our zoning laws. Further, the homes were abandoned - with the occupants moving out under the cover of darkness. I witnessed the moveouts of the houses on both sides of me and across the street from me.

Don’t forget that proably most everything inside the houses that was not fully secured was also removed i.e. light fixtures, appliances, curtains and rods, bilinds and the list goes on. One house in Sudley occupied by Latinos had the front and rear doors removed as well at the items cited above. Look around the neighborhoods at the houses that have been abandoned and under foreclosure with no curtains/blinds and check the reality signs. Houses formerly occupied by Latinos and being marketed by Latino real estate “agents.”

Many also moved into houses with “no money down, interest only loans” knowing full well that after one year of making NO payments and overcrowding these houses and collecting “RENT” from their “RELATIVES” that they were going to “bail out” with nothing lost. Some walked away because they owed far more that the house was worth and wasn’t worth (in their opinion) putting on the market. It was far easier to just leave.

  172. Lafayette said on 4 Feb 2008 at 8:46 am: Flag comment

I saw the house across the street stripped of damn near everything but the kitchen. Yes, most foreclosures are Latino names, but there are quite of few “tradidtional” American, African, and other nationalities too. The Latino community was in cahoots from start to finish with the sales of houses. The real estate agent, title company, mortgage broker, settlement companies usually have “family ties”. People, were trusting of what they were told. This goes for speakers of all languages. Everyone was GREEDY and this includes folks wanting to buy these house during the boom writing contracts well over the asking price. Everyone wanted a piece of the pie. As for the Latino community they were never told that the property value could decrease. Then as for the other people they just wanted to own their own home and got in on the action too. The lenders that made these sub-prime, adjustable rate mortgages are mostly to blame.
I would like to say I seriously doubt all of these house owned by Latinos now being foreclosed were all illegals(some were). I do believe there were several Latino slum lords and business owners that were more than happy to get high rent from multiple occupants and then when the interest rate adjusted and principal had to start being paid on the mortgages the payment were no longer being made and then foreclosure will happen.

Nationally Nationally Nationally. I don’t know how to make you all hear me. Life goes past Manassas.

In this area, I agree. Many of the foreclosures are people with Hispanic last names. I don’t know the status of those with foreclosures and neither does anyone else.

Nationally, that is not the case, however. People from all ethnicities have had foreclosures.

I do not fault people who just want to own a house as long as they are doing what they think is legal. I have had several slick reators over the years attempt to convince me that I could own far beyond my means. I know someone else that was sold a condo. The problem? The buyer had a great dane. Maximum weight for a dog was 25 pounds. She had to turn around and sell. She had been told the dog would be fine, by her realtor.

I will always blame the person making money off the deal rather than the home buyer. Most people want the American dream and we are not all financial experts.

    COM,

The playing field is not level. When you go to buy a house, you should be able to trust your realtor. Operative word here, SHOULD. Same with your lender.

If you go to have your taxes done, you count on the professional to know the rules, laws, ropes in general. Same if you go to settle something legally. You hire a lawyer. You get sick, you hired a doctor.

I do not know all the ins and outs of real estate and buying and selling a home. That is why I would pay the 6% to have my house sold professionally.

I have always thought cheating people to make an easy buck was wrong and that those it happened to were called victims.
