The SDS Is Back - For Illegal Aliens, No Less!

By Greg L | 10 February 2008 | Zapatistas, Illegal Aliens, Virginia Politics | 44 Comments

This weekend Mexicans Without Borders and other members of the “Virginia Immigrant People’s Coalition” went down to Richmond in advance of their lobby day on February 11th to have a little rally, and guess who showed up as part of this coalition? A reconstituted group of “red diaper babies”, the Students For A Democratic Society. I knew the hard-core communists were big players this effort to erase national borders, stop the rule of law, and promote anarchy, but I hadn’t imagined they would be so open about their participation. These folks are among the nuttiest of the hard-core socialists/anarchists as you could ever find.

Perhaps most readers are either too young or just not that familiar with the history of the socialist movement in the United States to remember much about Tom Hayden, the Weather Underground, and the radical anti-war movement in the sixties. For their benefit, here’s a little overview of the SDS to give you an idea what folks carrying these black flags with red fists on them, which just coincidentally are rather reminiscent of the flag of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation, which Mexicans Without Borders is aligned with.

The SDS was formed in 1959 by the Director of the socialist League for Industrial Democracy and its charter (the Port Huron Statement) was drafted by hard-core leftist Tom Hayden. The Port Huron Statement adopted the position of “anti-anti-Communism,” refusing to support the West in the Cold War, called for unilateral diarmament, denounced bigotry in the United States, world hunger and American abundance, materialism, personal alienation, industrialization, the threat of nuclear war, military spending, and the Cold War. The SDS disrupted ROTC classes, staged draft card burnings, and harassed campus recruiters for the CIA and for defense contractors. The SDS staged the notorious 1968 riot at the Democratic Party’s convention in Chicago. Hayden and his cohorts — including Jerry Rubin, Abby Hoffman and Black Panther Bobby Seale — were arrested and indicted for crossing state lines to incite a riot. In 1969 the SDS split into several factions, one of which became the “Weather Underground” which declared war on “Amerikkka”, sought to overthrow capitalism, and launch a race war in the United States. They claimed credit for more than twenty five bombings in the United States.

About two years ago, some folks who thought that the world was really lacking because this anarchist, maoist, anti-capitalist radical fringe organization had become defunct and decided to re-invigorate the Students For Democratic Society.  The first public event the SDS decided to make their presence felt just happened to be an effort where Ricardo Juarez of Mexicans Without Borders figures prominently.  Go figure.

No hard-core leftist event would be complete without propaganda, and it was on display in Richmond this weekend.  Want to pick up a copy of “The Militant“, or the writings of Che Guevara, Karl Marx, or Vladimir Lenin in Spanish or English?  This was the place.  You could even donate to the campaign of Socialist Workers Party Candidate for United States President Róger Calero, although he could never take office in the hugely unlikely possibility that he would win because of a provision in the Constitution, so such a contribution is probably wasted.

Although Dick Saslaw is lending this movement some legitimacy by aligning himself with the goals of these people, this is primarily a thinly-veiled effort by the Socialist Workers Party, some radical leftist organizations, and adherents of the Zapatisa revolutionary movement to influence state and federal laws in the United States.  Is Saslaw just stupid and not understand that he’s been co-opted by a bunch of radical communists, or does he know and just not care that he’s carrying water for organizations that have as their primary goal the overthrow of the United States Government and forced imposition of Socialism on our society at the barrel of a gun?

Another thing I wonder about is why the press, which observed this event, felt that they would not report on this important facet of this rally in any way.  They saw the banners and this propaganda table, but chose to ignore it.  No wonder there’s a place for blogs, when the press is unwilling to tell their readers the truth.  Here are a bunch of illegal aliens and hard-core communists rallying in Richmond demanding that we stop enforcing the law, and instead of talking about what is really going on here, they simply decide to parrot Ricardo Juarez’ tired “anti-immigrant” rhetoric.  Pathetic.

When is the rally for people opposed to illegal immigration? I think there’s a place for knocking on doors and lobbying, but there’s also a place for marching in the streets and showing our strength in numbers.

Are you saying that this was the first public event for the newly reconstituted SDS? I guess the branches at more than 100 colleges and dozens of high schools (as widely reported) have been hiding their red lights under bushels for two years until just this week. And imagine, they chose Richmond.

Based on the picture, it would appear that this is a group of naive young white men who have been duped and are toting the water for groups like MSF. Interesting, where have we seen this before. Wannabee communists aligned with MSF.

Mr. Anon, I see a woman in the picture, and I certainly see a lot of women in other pictures of chapters of the new SDS at all those public events they have apparently not been having prior to their debutante ball in Richmond.

Why do you say “duped”? Do you honestly think that it would require duplicity to recruit a handful of leftist young people?

Go to George Mason someday and look at all the kaffiyehs the kids wear like it’s hip.

The girls too, it’s disgusting - way worse than supporting illegal immigration.

Not to mention the Muslims at that school hi jacked the silent mediation area and turned it into a Mosque.

I remember the SDS back in the old days. They were what I called
the “Credit Card Communists”. They usually come from rather wealthy
families and many of them are “trust fund kids” who can afford such
idealism. (as long as Mom and Dad pay the bills)
The only reason they are co-opting with the MWB is the fact that
when they stand alone, no one will pay attention to them. If you
want to see them scatter, offer them a job.

I was in college during the SDS days. From what I saw it was just dorky kids looking for dates with other dorky kids. A few radical types here and there, but on the whole, just the dorm rats with alot of time on their hands. And of course the marches always went down when the weather was beautiful. Best time to hold hands. Look at the picture above. When it gets around 30 degrees this week, no one will care about anything. The SDS only seemed to operate between 72-80 degrees. From my perspective the perfect group to assist the illegal alien lobby.

It should also be noted that these far left groups also embrace a healthy dose of anti-semitism. They embrace the goals of the Palestinian Liberation Front and like-mined groups, and are dedicated to the destruction of the state of Israel.

The rally on Saturday had to be a disappointment to all who organized it. Without the SDS there would have been about 75 people in attendance. MWB kept saying that Americans were the ones that were illegal and the illegal aliens had every right to be here because America belongs to them. Our friend John S. sang a song and I was actually impressed that he could carry a tune.
Anyone of you that thinks these groups are harmless hasn’t heard the HATE they spew. They talk about Americans hating them but the rhetoric in their speeches would amount to hate speech if a white American were saying it.

Mr. Anon: Based on the picture, it looks like they should be advocating against climate change in Richmond. Summer came really early there this year.

MWB and these illegal alien apologist had a table full of socialist propoganda. They certainly didn’t like their table of crap be photographed of the event.
Oh, all of our “favs” were there NancyL, JohnS, and of course good ole Ricky. The owner of the Liberty Wall was there with a sign of course. The “kiss my ass” lady from the marathan BOS meeting in October. There was a couple from MWB that were quite disturbed to see observers from PWC.
These folks have no desire to assimilate and lived the American dream.
I would also like to point out as this “rally” was demanding things from our government and great and nation. All the while the park was full of American homeless. They were gather in the park every Saturday to move to a new church for a week at a time. This was quite disturbing to see Americans suffering while at the same time these jokers were spouting off their hate. This was truly heartbreaking.

    Maureen,
The video of the serenade from John S will be up later on this afternoon. Stay tuned.

Here are some pictures of the day’s “events”.
    As always ENJOY!

what’s up with all the colorful clothing the MWB supporters seem to like wearing…I’ve seen pink, orange, lime green and i think a yellow in there somewhere. Looks like a gay pride event

Those are their “uniforms” from various meetings/rallies in PWC at the County Complex.

Did you see our “favs”? Ricky was much lower key than usual.
Well, at least they weren’t in PWC for this like much of their other stuff.

    Josh,
They were playing some kind of medevil war games. I’ll post those pictures for you. There was one that was on another planet. He’s scattered throughout the pictures in the middle of the rally. One of the homeless said he’s always at “rally in the park” for any cause. Kind of sounds like Nancy’s long lost love child. Not only that he kept giving me the two fingers to his to me to let me know he was watching me. OMG. I’m laughing just remembering the whole ordeal.
You would’ve loved to have been with us would be my guess.

Too bad you aren’t allowed to wear shorts at work. Bet you have cute legs! - We moved here fr California where my husband and others in his office wore shorts on warm days, so when the temp hit 90 here, of course, he wore shorts to work. Well, seems some of the ladies got the vapors telling him that there was A/C just so that people could dress properly. The fact that the women have mini skirts and sleeveless lowcut tops, well, that’s different.

I still say that an anti-illegal immigration rally should be held soon in Richmond. I am sure that park could be filled shoulder to shoulder with people opposed to what is going on in our country and our state right now.

jfk, I suppose demonstrations to show opposition to what our government is/is not doing would send a message. However, isn’t it a sad commentary upon our form of government to think that it takes THAT (demonstrations in the street) to inform our elected officials of our displeasure?

    Nohe’s business license stance questioned

    2008-02-08

Supervisor Marty Nohe appears to support business licenses for illegal alien business owners.

He seems concerned that it’s burdensome to screen applicants for business licenses to ascertain whether they’re legally present in the United States .

Mr. Nohe also owns a lucrative appliance business and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber of Commerce also supports business licenses for illegal aliens.

Most illegal alien businesses in question are construction and home improvement enterprises where cheap illegal alien labor helps to construct and remodel the myriad of homes filled with appliances that Mr. Nohe sells and garners much of his income from.

The same could be said of similarly related Chamber of Commerce businesses that depend on cheap illegal alien labor for their economic livelihood.

If it walks like a duck and waddles like a duck, it must be a duck.

If Mr. Nohe were a duck, the Chamber of Commerce would be a flock of ducks floating with him in a cesspool of lawlessness and exploitation.

We can all discuss and pontificate until Doomsday concerning the pro- illegal demonstrations.
When are WE going to march on Richmond or DC?
We have Mexico’s president, Calderone ,now in our country telling our elected officials how to run America…WHERE is the outrage in this?
Talk is great, but action stirs the emotions… and maybe, if we are lucky, some action on our elected officials parts.
I am ready…how do we get the ball moving?

I’ve always found it somewhat amusing that the “trust fund” kids, protesting for a socialized government, have no reservations about taking Capitalist Daddy’s money to fund their efforts.

My parents were “American Dream” folks - work hard and smart and achieve your dreams. They didn’t rely on the government and they passed these “values” along to my sister and me.

My father told me once, BEWARE - when the government promises a socialized governance, it will give you something with one hand, but take twice as much with the other. Capitalism, he told me, is a good thing - completely in your control - you can make good or bad choices, but they are your choices and you are accountable for both. Both Socialism and Capitalism however can be abused.

In the 60s some of my friends wanted me to join a commune in upstate NY. The first thing the “leaders” said was, “your personal assets become the commune’s assets, for use by everyone.” My personal asset was my car, and I wasn’t going to share it with anyone. Nor was going to follow the “commute doctrine” that I work at a job and hand over my paychecks to the “leaders” to benefit the commune as a whole.

That was my introduction to Socialism - control of the masses by a few. I didn’t like the concept then, and I don’t like it now.

Yet, this is the message I am hearing when I read about bills “passed by indefinitely” in Congress and our own General Assembly - and especially our presidential candidates’ message to legalize illegal aliens, reunite them with their families (here) and put them all into an “affordable” government-funded health care plan - along with access to numerous social services.

It’s the 60s all over again - but the “love” isn’t free anymore!”
