HB 623 Update

By Greg L | 27 February 2008 | Illegal Aliens, Virginia Senate | 6 Comments

Because of a huge brawl in the Senate today over the budget, the Senate Courts of Justice Committee did not meet and HB 623 which would enroll Virginia in the federal Section 287(g) Program still hasn’t been heard. There are almost fifty bills still stuck in the Senate Courts of Justice Committee which has scheduled an extra meeting for tomorrow, because otherwise Monday is the last scheduled meeting of this committee. Any bills that don’t get reported out of this committee will by default die, although usually Senate Committees are good about at least considering everything and not letting bills expire without any consideration.

Keep your calls coming, because this fight isn’t over yet. We still have an opportunity to get a Section 287(g) bill to the Senate floor, and if it gets there the odds are that it will pass, especially after Bob McDonnell demonstrated that current policies have allowed at least 173 criminal alien sex offenders to either be released from prison into our communities and put on the Virgina Sex Offender Registry, or have gone unscreened in Virginia’s prison system and would have been due to be released. Another great article that explains (in plain English) why amnesty, “touchback”, fines and path to citizenship….WILL NOT WORK!

Heavy fines for the employers will be the only way this will change. Just like the 2k fine for a car example in the article, the employers must be fined heavily and by the day. If they are forced to check, they will start hiring documented workers and the enticement to come to America will be gone for the ILLEGAL aliens.

Oh…for clarification…in my post when I used the word “fines”…I meant to say fines for illegal aliens (you know…pay a fine and get your path to citizenship). That won’t work. I do, however, believe that HUGE fines for businesses that hire illegal aliens are in order (to include revocation of business licenses and siezure of assets).

Going one step further and seizing the assets will help curb it as well. That would be the best thing, however, the only businesses that would be caught would be the mom and pop small businesses, which may only employ 2-3. The big businesses will be able to “donate” their way out of any action.

Let’s hope MD can step up!!! I love it when the ILLEGAL aliens cry about wanting equal rights when they have no right to be here in the first place. The argument that everyone was an immigrant at one time or another is getting old. Of course, we all were immigrants, with the exception of the Native Americans. The only difference is we came here LEGALLY!!! How is it our problem that they are getting a hard time about being here ILLEGALLY?? How is it our problem they have made a choice to come here and live as a criminal?

I am glad to see that many states are adopting tougher verification laws. It won’t be long before the ILLEGAL aliens have no jobs to come here for. It is coming and that is a good thing!!
