The Rule Of Law Resolution Works: Another Example

By Greg L | 12 March 2008 | Illegal Aliens, Prince William County | 64 Comments

Today’s edition of the Washington Post provides yet another example of how the Rule of Law Resolution is discouraging the unlawful presence of illegal aliens in Prince William County. It appears that soccer leagues have depended to a large degree on illegal aliens as players and spectators, and now that they’re self-deporting either to their home countries, or to more welcoming jurisdictions in the area. Prince William County is now considered off-limits:

Jose Platero said most players on his team, Fiorentina, told him they will no longer go to Manassas because they have moved or fear their fan base has vanished. Melvin Ortez, president of Honduras de Manassas, is switching his team to a Fairfax league because half of his players are illegal immigrants. (emphasis added)

Perhaps now all those children who have been on the waiting list for public recreational facilities will now have a decent chance of being able to use them, since the illegal aliens are moving on. Somehow the Post managed to miss that one, despite their extensive investigation effort in this article. I doubt they missed any potential sources who could have bemoaned the decline of illegal aliens in the county, however.

Maryland and Fairfax County, you apparently are the recipients of a significant number of illegal aliens who have come to the conclusion that it is safer for them to depend on your taxpayer-funded services rather than risk the consequences of depending on Prince William County taxpayers and finally being held to account by our law enforcement officials. If these jurisdictions really want illegal aliens in their communities, they’re welcome to all of ours.

Although it’s a positive development that illegal aliens consider Prince William County a place that does not welcome illegal aliens, the concerns that illegal aliens are expressing in this article border on, if not go beyond the irrational. They clearly are concerned that they could become subject to enforcement of the Rule of Law Resolution, but can they really be more concerned about Help Save Manassas than they are with the Prince William County Police Department, which is actually able to do something to impose penalties for breaking the law? From the looks of this article, that might be the case.

I wonder how they got that impression. It wouldn’t happen to have anything to do with a local organization that has for years contended that the United States is the most terrorist nation in world history now, would it?

News to me too, until the Post called. The soccer leagues behaved themselves, never caused a problem, and never showed up on the radar screen, although there was some debate last summer about how difficult it was for youth leagues to find fields to play on.

Maybe legal residents and citizens will find it easier now to get a chance to use our public resources.

What a tragedy! What an unfriendly community. I have lived here most all of my life and I can not believe what has happened. Shame on all of you for making this such an uncomfortable place for immigrants to live and visit. I know you keep saying you just want the illegals out but all the hate you spew is directed at anyone who is not your color, your ethnicity or who do not hold your same values. What a sad time.

What a sad time when people are so entrenched in their own opinions that they refuse to look honestly at the situation. I was taught racism was wrong and following the law was right. Keep dreaming that the resolution is racism and you won’t add anything to the solution.

Shame on you for not educating yourself on the difference between legal and illegal. You disgrace civilization by calling anything and everything racism and hatred. I think it’s great these teams won’t be trashing our schools and public parks with trash overflowing and scattered all over the playing fields. I met two 5th graders last summer that told me each and every day they return to WestGate Elem. after school to pick up all the trash left over from the soccer games. They said of course when they went back to school the next day more trash would be there. They did this of their own free will. These two girls are being active productive citizens. Children should NOT have to clean their school grounds up after GROWN men have trashed it.

I am looking forward to going to Stonewall Middle, and being able to park at the school and not a couple of blocks away on Lomond Drive. School functions should have top priority! Parents should not have to play second fiddle to a bunch of grown men playing a “game”.

    AMF to all those players!!!

Couple of items from the “soccer article”

“”I have never felt as good as I felt in Manassas,” said Hector Bardales, 26, a Sterling mechanic who plays in four of the region’s leagues but most loved the crowds who cheered him on when he donned his Honduras de Manassas uniform. But he is in the country illegally, so Manassas is now no man’s land, he said. “I would play in any county except Prince William.”"

[Since we have a name from the article and it states he is an illegal….where is ICE?]

“Jose Platero said most players on his team, Fiorentina, told him they will no longer go to Manassas because they have moved or fear their fan base has vanished. Melvin Ortez, president of Honduras de Manassas, is switching his team to a Fairfax league because half of his players are illegal immigrants.”

This is good news. At Signal Hill Park, the playing surface was deteriorating from overuse, and still teams who wanted play could not get on the schedule. Children and legal residents should never be denied use of the field because those who are here illegally take the spots on the schedule.

Also, at times the shoulders along Signal Hill Drive became an impromptu parking lot as teams played, creating a traffic hazard as drvers view of the winding road was obstructed by work vans and SUVs. People who wanted to visit the historic marker across the road from the park couldn’t because it became soccer parking as well. There is ample parking at the park, but players and fans couldn’t be bothered to walk to extra few feet to get there. Finally the city had to put up no parking signs, to get the (mostly illegal) participants to use a parking lot!

Getting them to use the restrooms was much harder. Parents couldn’t be bothered to tear themselves away from the game, and had their kids use the sidelines to relieve themselves! Yuck!

That’s one crowd I’m glad to see gone.

Benefits of less/no alien soccer players in PWC:

    - Cost savings in trash removal,
    - Cost savings in field maintenance,
    - Overbooked fields more accessible to legal citizens, and
    - Cost savings of unpaid hospital bills resulting from soccer-injured players going to PW Hospital Emergency Room.

Good, let the leagues fold up and leave!

These leagues contained nothing but gang members and the teams took over the local fields from our youth. The majority of the schools in the Manassas area have these players show up and Stonewall Middle used to be where they played little league soccer and football but these men ran off the kids. It’s about time they left.

Sure the families came out but the behavior that came with the territory was appalling. ICE should start raiding these games since you’d get more than a few wanted by the law and more than 75% of the fans in attendance were illegal.

NO, SHAME ON YOU! If one is a LEGAL immigrant, there is nothing to fear. If you are ILLEGAL, MOVE ON! You do not belong here and have absolutely no right to be here. You are a drain on the community and the country. Race only enters the situation by people like you who continue to use it as a means to an end. The biggest racists are the illegal supporters like La RAZA and their ilk. The tragedy is the fact that the county took so long to get the situation under control. Overcrowded houses, houses being trashed, McMansions being built to house multiple families and their boarders and large groups of loiterers hanging around businesses and urinating in public….that is the tragedy.

It’s a clever obfuscation of the illegals and their supporters, when they compare decent Americans to Nazis.

You see, the Nazis were so peculiar and so horrible because they were ethnic chauvinists who promulgated bizarre revisions of pagan historical themes. They got their imagery of racial superiority and manifest destiny out of old art. By revising images appropriate to a day of barbarians, and importing them into the modern day, they falsified history to justify their racist goals of “lebensraum”.

For some reason, most people don’t see the obvious similarities between the race-based movement of the Nazis and the race-based movement of “la Raza Unida”. But it’s totally clear from the names they give themselves.

“Juventus Sureno” means, specifically, “Southern Youth”, and considering that “Sureno” is a term originating in the conflicts between Central-American and Mexican gangs in California (to denote Central American gangsters), “Southern Youth” might as well be “Hitler Youth”.

Just look at all of the images you see in the subcultural literature. You have these “Mexicans Without Borders” and “Mexica Movement” people declaring the manifest destiny to expel the Europeans, exactly as the Nazi Germans declared the manifest destiny to expel the Jews and “other subhumans”.

They even have their own Propagandist Wing, strangely enough with people on the editorial staff of the WaPo, which you would think would despise anything smacking of Nazism. It’s using the same techniques, or trying to use them, with these tearjerker stories about the plight of the poor poor illegals who only want to displace the Americans from work, schools, neighborhoods, counties, states, and nations.

There are some clueless people who come and say “but I can’t see why you people are so upset with the illegal aliens, they’re just here to increase production efficiency”. Well, you could have said that about the Nazis in Poland, as well. Auschwitz sure did run great once those lazy Poles were replaced by hardworking undocumented Germans!

Here’s an example of this Nazi mindset, this adherence to archetype, to blood above justice:

Walter Pereira, 30, a construction worker from Honduras
in the United States legally, plays for Juventus Sureno,
which competes in a Fairfax league and, last year, in the
Liga de Woodbridge. His brother Hernan Pereira, 27,
also plays but has no legal papers. Neither does brother
Felipe Pereira, 25, one of the team’s biggest fans.
Hernan and Felipe refuse to set foot in Prince William now.

So Walter voted with his teammates to
drop out of the Woodbridge league.

“I don’t want anything to happen to them,” said Walter Pereira, who lives in Alexandria. “I have to support them.
    I am Latino, too.”

    You see?

A legal immigrant supports illegal aliens because of his race, and he’s putting blood above law, and not even the blood of his family, but the “blood bond of the aryan brotherhood”, if you want to translate Spanish in 2008 into German from 1943.

If they had tanks, they’d be here in tanks, if they had planes, they’d be carrying on with the Blitz. It’s all about race to them, all about the manifest destiny to drive the Anglos back to Europe.

And the crypto-fascists and nazi sympathizers at WaPo give propaganda comfort.

We’ve tried Conciliation, we’ve tried Accomodation, we’ve even had our Pearl Harbor: when will we have our Churchill?

Absolutely, they should be held accountable. It is people like that that are driving the need for illegals to increase their profits. Hopefully, the SAVE ACT will be brought up for a vote and passed. It should go a long way in helping eliminate the hiring of illegals.

The parents at All Saints Catholic School raised over $30,000 of their own money to install a small soccer field and sprinkler system at the school. At night the Hispanic (yes I saw them so I know!) adult soccer players would line their work trucks up along the field and shine their headlights so they could see to play. We tried asking them to leave, and they ignored us. We called the police and that worked for a while. Then they came back. Finally the principal had signs installed in English and Spanish telling people not to tresspass, the field was for school use only. Unfortunately that was too late, as the sod we paid for is now dirt again, and when the sprinklers come on we have a mudhole.

This resolution is a godsend, regardless of the pricetag. Until the folks in Fairfax and Montgomery counties get to experience what we have had to deal with, nothing will truly change. It’s easy to call names and sterotype people when you haven’t had to walk in their shoes. I hope they truly get that opportunity.

As for the immigrants; go back to your home country and return legally. Most of you are good people who do work hard and want the best for your family. The immigration process will take time and won’t happen overnight. But, if you really want to be Americans then you will do the right thing.

    CHEAP TOMATOES?

This should make everyone think, be you Democrat, Republican or Independent

    From a California school teacher - - -

‘As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:

I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels.

Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park, etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.

Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I’m not talking a glass of milk and roll, but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. ( OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones .

The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America .

    (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them ‘Putas’ ( [removed] ) and throwing things, that the teachers were in tears.

Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc., etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements?

To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.

Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc., etc. For me, I’ll pay more for tomatoes.

    We need to wake up.

The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won’t have the guts to enforce it

Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?

It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about ‘ political correctness ‘ that we don’t have the will to do anything about it.

If this makes your blood boil , as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know.

CHEAP LABOR? Isn’t that what the whole immigration issue is about?

Business doesn’t want to pay a decent wage.
    Consumers don’t want expensive produce.

Government will tell you Americans don’t want the jobs.

But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase ‘cheap labor’ is a myth , a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as ‘cheap labor.’

Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or 6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an ‘ earned income credit’ of up to $3,200 free.

He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent . He qualifies for food stamps. He qualifies for free

(no deductible, no co-pay) health care.

His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school.

He requires bilingual teachers and books.

He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.

If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled , they qualify for SSI.

Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare .

All of this is at(our) taxpayer’s expense .

He doesn’t worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance.

Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.

He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.

Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills and his.

The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up. Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT!
    Wake up people!

I was at a City Council Town Hall Meeting at one of our city public schools, and a citizen spoke to council regarding the men that played soccer at the school every afternoon. Her property was adjacent to the school, and almost daily she would observe men coming over from the field and urinating and defecating in her bushes. These men actually trespassed onto her property, and used it for a toilet. Andy Harrover did some work on this, but I am not sure what the outcome was.

The only reason we were able to get signs posted was because of the complaining.

Why do people automatically assume that those of us concerned about illegal immigrants are racists? How can they even know what background any of the commenters are (well, supposing they don’t follow links back to your own sites/blogs)? I don’t care where you’re from, what color you are, what language you speak…if you are not here legally, then you do not belong here. And for all those crying that many of our ancestors came here illegally, I’d like them to prove it. Mine came over from Lituania and the Austrio-Hungarian empire about 100 years ago. They came with the appropriate paperwork and visas. They came through major ports of entry, not under the cloud of darkness through a desert or a tunnel under a fence, or wading through a river. Maybe gaining legal access to the US was easier and quicker 100 years ago…but hundreds of thousands of other people did it just like my family did. And have since. Why should these groups be any different? Just because the reside on the same continent as our country? So for all you bleeding-heart liberals, maybe you can open your eyes and ears and see that most Americans concerned with illegal immigration are not racists or viscious nationalists. We just want our communities to be nice places to raise our children, and not have essential services overburdened by people who don’t pay into the system.

The vitriolic labels the pro-illegal immigration cronies like to use, that the term “racist” is one of their favorites to describe anyone who is against illegal immigration, a pathetic attempt to use the race card to try and shield illegal immigrants from accepting responsibility for breaking the law, and shield themselves for supporting such a travesty.

They try to do this so that anti-illegal immigration forces will back down for fear of public shame, but the logic of their attacks is flawed when one looks at the broader picture, and that the previous waves of mass immigration from European, i.e. the “white” countries in the 19th and early 20th centuries came here LEGALLY, made an effort to learn our language and customs, and way of life, and therefore assimilated into American Society. Maybe they were forced to come here legally because they had to sail over an ocean and could not exploit a poorly secured land border, but that does not change the fact that they obeyed the law, and the current wave of immigrants are breaking the law.

The pro-illegal immigration forces that want amnesty are completely out of touch with mainstream American society - just look at most of the comments here - the majority of the posters are against illegal immigration, and most people I know who are against illegal immigration have no problem with LEGAL immigration, regardless of country of origin, ethnicity, etc.

They try to paint us as fear-mongering demagogues because it is the only weapon that they have against the cold, hard facts: that we are a country of dwindling resources being asked (forced, really - they did not ask, they just snuck over the border) to support illegals who are driving down wages for the lower middle class, draining government tax dollars that they do not put back into the system because they do not pay taxes, and creating a division in American society by not assimilating into our culture and refusing to learn our language. To many of them, we are the “gringos”, and some of them even believe in “reconqista”, the re-capture of the American southwest, which they conveniently forget that we rightfully won in both war and by purchasing much of the land from Mexico.

It is not our fault that Mexico is one of the most corrupt governments on the face of the planet, which has led to the impoverishment of their people. And it is absurd that they come here and demand rights that they are not legally entitled to when they should be forcing change in their home country. I think that they are actually taking advantage of liberals that make excuses for them - laughing while the liberal, pro-illegal immigration forces do their work for them, because they have no intention of assimilating into American society. The liberals should also look at the fall of other great nations as Amy Chua has, and understand that non-homogenous societies tend to fall apart, from the Roman Empire to the Soviet Union.

I do agree with many of Amy Chua’s points from her article, such as strict immigration quotas based on country of origin and levels of education. But she misses the point that Mark Krikorian makes, which is that a mass immigration of unskilled peoples is incompatible with an advanced society that places a greater value on education and already spends to much money on a welfare state.

Plus, what about all the poor and homeless people in the US that were born here and have paid whatever taxes they can their whole lives? It outrages me that our tax dollars are being used to pay for education, hospitalization, and increased law enforcement needed for illegal immigrants when the money should be used to cover the needs of those here rightfully and legally.

The pro-illegal immigration forces are self-righteous hypocrites that fail to see the broader implications to our society, and are actually complicit in hastening it’s downfall. As Mark points out, the public knows that the media, government (and businesses that exploit the inexpensive illegal labor) have no solidarity with the average mainstream U.S. citizen, and no interest in preserving American sovereignty, even if our society has given them rights and freedoms that very few nations offer. What will they say when society starts unraveling? That it was the Republican’s fault? That they wish they could go back to the good old days? They will blame everyone but themselves, but we will all be to shame for allowing them to get away with it, and for it to happen in the first place by not holding our government accountable for the chaos at the border, and for enforcing our laws.

Thanks for the update. I figured as much. Nothing was ever said re the situation when the church was used for a Mexican Without Borders meeting and one of the large windows was smashed by a Latino drunk. One of the former principals was of the same mindset and her excuse was “if it happens after 3:00pm it’s NOT MY PROBLEM.”

    Wine Please,

100 years ago people didn’t come here with paper work and visas. They were processed through at a port of entry. If they didn’t pass muster, they got sent back. Some of the shipping lines were fairly careful about who got on board, mainly so they didn’t have to bring them back for free.

Another Opinion and Dignidad: PULEZZEZE get off your high horse, sacrocinct puplpit of ILLEGAL ALIEN “Apologism”. You are unable to grasp the simple concept of what constitutes abiding by the RULE of LAW. I have been a PWC resident for 36 years. What used to be a clean, orderly, beautiful place is now, within the 5-7 years ( since the mass invasion of ILLEGAL ALIENS), a trashy, unsightly and unpleasant place to live. The subdivisions of Sudley, West Gate, Point of Woods, Weems, and many others have been turned into slums and overcrowded bordelos for the Hispanics and their ILLEGAL ALIEN amigos. I see NO intent by the Hispanics to ASSIMILATE into American culture. Hopefully the ILLEGALS will continue to flee PWC and NOT seek “refuge” in other American citites, but RETURN to their own countries and fix what needs fixing.

    Exactly right, Dolph.

My ancestors are from Greece and Spain. They came here on a boat, and did not go through Ellis Island (to hear Greg L talk all immigrants used to come through Ellis Island). When they arrived, got a job, got a house, had no visa and no paperwork. They made good lives for themselves. Did not speak or read English. Their children were the ones who were bi-lingual. I am the blessed recipient of their travel to the United States.

I wonder if the soccer teams paid any “field usage fees.” I know years ago when my kids were on local soccer teams the Park Authority was charging us field user fees. I don’t know if they still do.

Not all ships came through the port of New York. I’ll bet a lot of sailors from Europe jumped ship without ANY papers.

Many very legal Japanese became displaced persons in their own land and, furthermore had land taken from them, after Pearl Harbor. If they hadn’t looked different than the WASPs and had Japanese names, I wonder whether they would have been treated that way. Looks are important as the Latinos are finding out today.

El Lobo, perhaps I didn’t make myself clear, or perhaps it’s just a knee-jerk reaction when the word “racism” is used. I was taught that racism is wrong, but those who believe the resolution is racist are dreaming. They want us to be racist so they can justify their behavior.
Klaatu1’s post was very interesting. I have felt so defensive when anti-illegal ideas are attacked as racist that I didn’t stop to look at any similarities between the racism of some Hispanic groups and the horrible racism of the Nazis.

Why oh why in the world can’t we simply accept existing law, until it is changed? We have a country of laws…no, not all are perfect, but we have a country with laws. The question is, do we preserve that imperfect but best on Earth country or not?

From my perspective, we need to illustrate to those who are in this country illegally how wonderful it would be for them in their home countries…and then, as follow-on, encourage them to return home and help their parents, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews to become stronger and better.

Some deserve to become American citizens through proper channels; the majority deserve to help their families exist. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could save the entire world? We can’t. :(

    Another Opinion,

Does this make you a grand-grand Anchor baby? Guessing on the number of ancestors that came before you…

    Soccer fans or not,

When the world cup soccer was going on a few years ago our parking lot was jammed with cars and trucks that didn’t belong, people came home from work and called the tow trucks and had them towed out of their reserved spots. Lots of angry men in the parking lot almost tipped over the tow truck before he just hit the gas and dragged a truck along with him down the road. It’s the rule of law stupid…

I almost never use the word ‘racist.’ I think it is over worked, over used, and takes away from the real thing–sort of like on the order of the little boy who cried wolf. When it really comes along, no one will listen.

El Lobo, your post @ 5:58 is close to making me get over my self imposed restriction. You really need to go back and reread what you have written.

Furthermore, I live in Sudley and I don’t feel like my neighborhood is a slum. I doubt that the rank and file person driving down the street would feel like they were in a slum. I am not a newcomer to the county either. In fact, Ms. Lafayette has me beat by 7 months.

Fr Bob gave my daughters 8th grade class a talk on why the new law was racist and unCatholic. I about flipped out. Fortunately, my daughter is far too smart to be bullied into believing that it is un-Christian to enforce the law. As for the soccer field, I would like to smack the men who ruined it. If they want to be Americans, great, START ACTING LIKE IT! Dont get on Mr Conroy, he isnt a yes man. He does a great job, but he cant sleep on the field to protect it.

  63. The Patriot (Got E-Verify?) said on 13 Mar 2008 at 11:24 am: Flag comment

Faith…tell Friar Bob to actually READ his Bible (particularly Romans)! Oh…and also tell him that turning a blind eye to illegal aliens (and encouraging them to stay)…is actually causing them to continue in their “sinful” behavior (forging documents, stealing benefits, stealing identities, etc.). So in a sense…he is enabling their sin (which is a sin in and of itself). Christians are not supposed to assist others in sinful behavior. Looks like Friar Bob needs to study his Bible more! The right thing to do is to help the illegal aliens in coming to the realization of their sin and to help them turn away from that activity. This would be the Christian thing to do. Yes, this would mean that the illegal aliens would have to go home and come back (if they wanted) through the legal channels.
