Enforcement Works

Today’s Washington Times quotes Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff describing “Operation Streamline” with the rather obvious maxim of when you actually enforce the law, you deter unlawful behavior. This not only underpins the success of this small program on our Southern border, but the Rule of Law Resolution in Prince William County as well. It doesn’t take a huge effort by law enforcement to generate a tremendous difference in criminal behavior:
Mr. Chertoff noted that between October and December, the Justice Department prosecuted 1,200 cases under the new program and, as a consequence, apprehension rates dropped nearly 70 percent in those areas.
“When people who cross the border illegally are brought to face the reality that they are committing a crime, even if it is just a misdemeanor, that has a huge impact on their willingness to try again and on the willingness of others to break the law coming across the border,” he said.
Those 1,200 prosecutions are but a tiny fraction of the number of illegal border crossings that happen in the areas where “Operation Streamline” is active. For every illegal alien subjected to the consequences of their unlawful behavior, there are hundreds that see this and start thinking that they might be the next one held to account. Suddenly, the threat of actual enforcement of the law isn’t a joke anymore, and surprise of surprises, people actually begin to respect the law. What a shocker.
Locally, we see a small change in policy by the Prince William County Police Department, and the outflux of illegal aliens starts to show up almost immediately. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that this basic pattern of human behavior remains despite the efforts of some to socially engineer human beings into something they’re clearly not.
Now that these basic norms of human behavior are being so clearly demonstrated, and that policies which depend on these norms are absolutely effective, it should encourage the further expansion of efforts such as “Operation Streamline” and the Rule of Law Resolution. The argument that it is impossible to individually arrest, prosecute and deport all the illegal aliens unlawfully present in the United States is shown as the canard it really is, since such an effort is clearly unnecessary. All we have to do is demonstrate the will to actually enforce the law, and lawless behavior will be significantly deterred. The hard-core which remains after these policies have had a chance to work will be significantly smaller than the massive number of lawbreakers we are confronted with now.

Look at this potential “aiding and abetting” video. The bottom-line….NO ONE would need to do ANY OF THESE things if they were a legit resident. Only those who are illegal aliens and/or “aid and abet” illegal aliens would need this! By not presenting your “proof” of legal residency….that should constitute probable cause in my opinion.

I don’t know how old this video is, but Bush should be very proud of himself. In case you can’t tell, that was sarcasm.

CHIRLA…the organization in this video seems to participate in potential “aiding and abetting” of illegal aliens activity! Things in the video such as banners being held up by people marching that contain words like “legalization now”, etc. seem to support this. Why would a person (if they are legal and/or not “aiding and abetting” need to say things like “legalization now”?
Ahhh, our fearless leader, “Skeletor” (Chertoff). Can’t move up? Homeland Security is hiring. Still the second worst gov’t agency to work for, (4 years running) as rated by it’s own employees. He was very upset when America refused to go along with the Bush sanctioned amnesty created by Kennedy and McKook. What a concept! Enforce the immigration laws? Brilliant!
It appears to me that this video is more of the same propaganda that has been put out by those organizations we hear aboutr every day. It’s all for the Illegals and they try real hard to slant it to the Immigrant. It’s not the Immigrant that is making our towns and counties a mess, it’s the Illegals. And those that are promoting them,do so in a manner that does more harm to them. If those wanting to do some good to the illegals, then teach them what is right and wrong. But maybe they don’t understand what America is all about.
Showing a yellow card when stopped by police and refusing to talk is ridiculous and the ones promoting this to them is leading them in the wrong direction.
It was these same promoters that got 4/5 familys into one house.
I remember 5/6 years ago that my listing clients had 15 people show up at the door to see the house. We told them only 2 could go look.
Found out it was happening all over town and especially the older sections.
It was Northern Va. Agents of foreign decent. I am sure there were some
native americans doing the same thing.
Each person must do the right thing and go by our laws, not what they want.
DUH….! As Johnson said on 17 Mar 2008 at 11:51 am, “what a concept” [enforcing federal criminal laws]. If the reluctant feds finally get it, all the more power to them. Concerned taxpayer is onto something in saying on 17 Mar 2008 at 12:04 pm that it is the illegal alien who needs to be highlighted as the problem, not immigrants. If PWC were able to do some good PR work in praising legal immigrants, the disinformation from MWB will be quickly exposed for what it is.
Boy my spelling was off in the last post. Sorry
Right now, I believe we’re seeing a light migration out of PWC by illegals. As soon as it is shown that this resolution has some teeth, we’ll start to see some serious migration.
As soon as ICE shows up once and for all and conducts some raids…then we will see some action.
For all you All Saints parishoners, I noticed that the Honorable Senator Colgan is back in town. He was the usher at 9:00 mass this past weekend. I suggest politely introducing yourself after church and asking him what happened with the legislation he sponsored. I am curious to see if he is planning on making changes so that the bill will not conflict with federal law, and reintroducing it next session.
Yeah, I saw the old man profiling around town in his silver Lincoln Town Car, license plate “1″ (as in “uno”). If you see him, flip him a single digit for me.
Advocator, that would be a dumb thing to do, and I hope no one would take that approach.
Well, Che’, that’s what he’s done to us, his constituents.
Cornerstone 7-11 still had about 12 - 15 day laborers this morning @ 8am. I guess the bark is worse than the bite for the resolution.
