Kamal Nawash Runs For FCRC Chair

By Greg L | 18 March 2008 | Fairfax County | 14 Comments

This is a fascinating candidacy in Fairfax County.  Kamal Nawash has the potential to make a huge difference as a leader for the FCRC. If you want to have a part in choosing the next FCRC Chairman and perhaps ramping up the excitement level in Fairfax, it’s time to get moving.

Maybe Fairfax has found their Bobby Jindal.

    Greg,

Thanks for bringing Kamal Nawash to our attention. I called him and talked to him and he is very receptive. He wants to strengthen the party and actually has a plan that might work. Moreover, he has the correct position on guns and immigration. However, it is immigration where he can help us. He has been anti-illegal immigration for 15 years and he actually knows how to make an argument better the others. He is a national an expert on immigration law and can make a compelling argument against illegal immigration without sounding racist. Check out the Nawash Law Office at www.nawashlaw.com.

Also check out his appearance on Glen Beck: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TepH5GD8iGc

Guys we need to spread the word about him. I am excited about Kamal Nawash.

I also called Kamal Nawash and he is a real conservative. He is also a commentator on CNN, Fox News and MSNBC. This guy can really help the GOP. We need to support him.

Please visit the Fairfax County Republican Part website http://www.fairfaxgop.org/ and register by clicking on the words “Filing Form” on the top left of the home page.

It’s now or never. Please pass the word. America and the GOP needs us.

I contacted Kamal and he took my call. If you want to call him, use the following number. Kamal Nawash, 202-776-7191.

Where did you find out he was running? I heard nothing until I read it here. Since there is a contested chairmanship, I do plan to fill out the form and send it in TODAY. I’m truly undecided at this point as to whether I’d support Hyland or Nawash. I’d love to hear more about Mr. Nawash’s vision for FCRC. Has he got any of his own info up anywhere on the web yet? Does he plan to put anything up?

Here is the URL for Nawash’s group the Free Muslim Coalition, which says that “The battle is against militant Islam, not ‘Terror.’ In the here and now, that enemy is militant Islam”

This is the same Kamal Nawash who ran against Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple in 2003. He ran to Sen. Whipple’s LEFT on abortion, claiming she had not gone far enough to protect a woman’s right to choose!

I’m not looking for the URL for whatever group he belongs to (although that is helpful - thanks), I’m looking for something he himself has put out related to his running for FCRC chairman. It would help to know what he himself would propose to do differently than the current chairman has done. Maybe he needs to visit a Republican blog and address the troops?

“”"He ran to Sen. Whipple’s LEFT on abortion, claiming she had not gone far enough to protect a woman’s right to choose!”"”

Hopefully he is not a “finger to the wind” type person. Clearly Hamas and Islamic Jihad suicide bombings were a tough sell when he worked for the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.

Maybe Nawash genuinely changed his mind, and maybe it is all politics. I don’t know.

Here’s some more “interesting” stuff about Mr. Nawash - from Daniel Pipe’s blog site:

Oct. 1, 2003 update: Abdurahman Alamoudi, the prominent Islamist leader, was arrested on terrorism-related charges on Sept. 28 (on which, see “United States of America v. Abdurahman Muhammad Alamoudi”) and an Alamoudi-Nawash tie quickly emerged. (1) Alamoudi and his wife, Shifa, made the single largest donations to Nawash’s campaign, in March and May 2003. (2) In August 2003, “after an emotional conversation with Alamoudi,” Nawash returned the money because, as Nawash put it in the The Washington Post, “I think it could hurt me more than help me.” (3) Despite this distancing of his campaign from Alamoudi, Nawash had this to say in defense of Alamoudi after the latter’s arrest: “He is just a liberal Muslim, who wants more Muslims to be involved in the U.S. military and politics to be part of America.”

“He ran to Sen. Whipple’s LEFT on abortion, claiming she had not gone far enough to protect a woman’s right to choose!”

Kamal did not run to the left of Sen. Whipple. What Kamal said was that Sen. Whipple had no influence in the General Assembly and could not advance the pro-choice cause. He was not agreeing with the pro-choice cause; he was using it as an example of Sen. Whipple’s ineffectiveness.

    Freddie,

My memory of the Nawash mail piece on Whipple and abortion is quite different from yours. Only one way to resolve it. Since you seem wired in to Kamal, how about getting the mail piece posted here for all to see?

    Saving Fairfax

Why I am Running for Fairfax County Chairman

For the last few years, I watched as the GOP in Fairfax County went from being one of the strongest and most organized to one of the weakest and least effective in Virginia. As a result, the Fairfax GOP has lost one election after the other.

I have been a member of the Fairfax Committee for the last eight years and I will never forget the day I received a hand written note from one Anna Rockey, inviting me to join the Party. From that note, I became precinct chairman and shortly thereafter the GOP’s nominee for the House of Delegates against Democrat Brian Moran.

That simple outreach from Anna Rockey was followed by numerous meetings with then Fairfax Chairman Joe Underwood who taught me the basics of running for office. That outreach from Anna Rockey was also followed by numerous training sessions with then Speaker of the House, Vance Wilkins who engrained in me that he won his first elected position in a Democratic area by simple voter identification and turning out his supporters.

This is why I am running for Chairman. I understand the power of a hand written note and personal outreach. Winning elections is not rocket science. It can be as simple as a handwritten note, a handshake, a smile and open arms which many call outreach. It also takes hard work, passion and constant creativity in identifying our sympathizers and getting them to the polls.

I am running for Chairman because the Fairfax GOP has lost its passion, drive, initiative and note writers. I want to inspire a new generation of Anna Rockey because the future of our party and country need Anna Rockey, Now More Than Ever.

Unless we act to save Fairfax NOW, we will lose Fairfax County forever and if we lose Fairfax County, Virginia will follow.

Unless we act NOW, Fairfax County will become another Arlington where Republicans can’t even dream of wining an election.

In saving Fairfax, there are things within our control and things beyond our control. What is within our control is finding our supporters and sympathizers and getting them to the polls when we need them. Our limited resources must be focused on identifying our friends and sympathizers and that is where the Fairfax GOP Committee has failed over the last few years. This will be my priority and I will use all available technology and expertise for voter identification.

In the long term, we have to attract new people and improve our image. I will make certain that the GOP is represented at every festival and any concentration of people anywhere in Fairfax County. We will have games for children and make sure that everyone stops at the GOP table where we will welcome new people and save Fairfax.

It is Now or Never. I ask for your vote and your help in saving Fairfax. Make no mistake about it, it is not only Fairfax that is in peril if we don’t act now. It is Virginia, the United States and our way of life. Please join me in saving Fairfax.

If you have not registered for the Fairfax Republican Convention, please do so immediately by visiting www.fairfaxgop.org and click on “Filing Form” at the top left of the home page. Complete the form and check the box that says “Fairfax County Republican Convention.” The registration form must be received by 12:00pm on March 29, 2008. This is our last chance to save Fairfax.

If you have any question, please contact me by calling 202-776-7191. Please help me by forwarding this letter to your friends and email list.

    Very truly yours,

    Kamal Nawash

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Kamal Nawash at two separate occasions and i must say i am thoroughly impressed with this enlightened gentlemen. He is extremely intelligent with great perception on the future of politics.I think his views on the state of republicans in Fairfax is amazingly accurate. If we want to change the current situation we need to act fast. We have already given the other candidate a chance with no satisfactory outcome so why not try someone new and energetic as Kamal Nawash. He has my vote for sure. and i really encourage all of you to do the same.
