Driving liberals, dhimmis and illegal alien apologists absolutely insane since 2005...

Who Does Jim Webb Really Represent?

By Greg L | 21 March 2008 | Virginia Politics, US Senate | 21 Comments

The rationale behind the Washington Post’s puff piece about Senator Jim Webb was really hard to grasp, until almost the very end of the article:

He introduced a bill that would prohibit Bush from taking military action against Iran without congressional approval. He weighed in on the Senate immigration debate with a proposal that would allow illegal immigrants to become citizens if they met certain criteria. And he led a hearing on a long-standing interest: the growing prison population.

Let’s see here — protecting nations that support terrorism and are bent on developing nuclear weapons.  Check.  Amnesty for illegal aliens.  Check.  Too many convicted criminals are currently in prison.  Check.

That’s it.  Jim Webb’s policy positions are developed by the editorial board of the Washington Post.

It seems by his actions that Webbamnesty represents illegal aliens and legal residents and organizations who “aid and abet” illegal aliens.

Damned if I know! I’ve sent him 3 emails over the past year - on various topics - and he’s still yet to get back to me on any of them.

I think he represents himself and the next book he plans to write.

Glad I didn’t vote for that grouch. Now if we could make sure he gets the idea that none of his constituents want amnesty for illegals…I have friends who are Democrats and they aren’t in favor of it (I’m still not sure why they voted for him, but whatever).

Poor guy. I feel bad for him. The government drives people to do these types of things and then they don’t understand why everyone is flipping out and going on killing sprees. There is only so much that people can take before they take matters into their own hands.

Who does Jim Webb represent? That’s easy: Jim Webb.

It’s the latest trend in politics…avoid policy positions that show leadership, while maintaining credible non-positions on the hot button issues. He’s an odd duck as an ex-Republican who gives the impression his opposition to the War is somehow linked to his son’s current service there, but has not joined the rabid anti war movement in Congress. I’m with Anonymous…when I call his office on an issue, even when it’s up for a vote that day, his staff has the standard response that he has not taken a position nor has expressed one to his staff. Go figure.

He’s representing the majority of Americans who don’t want George Bush to launch another diasterous illegal invasion with lies….Sorry but Jim Webb will never be what you want him to be….a rubber stamp for the Bush/Cheney agenda.

The majority of Americans want competent leadership NOT BUSH/CHENEY (NOT John McCain) to deal effectively with Iran. We have enough time to wait for the next administration in 2009 to deal effectively with Iran.

    buzz…buzz…

I guess that’s true so long as the agenda doesn’t involve an amnesty.

That leaves Webb out! Ask his aide, Phillip Thompson.

Webb thinks Bush should get Congressional approval before “taking action” (aka starting a war) with Iran. Funny, that’s what the people who wrote the US Constitution thought too -

Article 1 (Outlines powers of Congress)

    Section 8

    Clause 11

“To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water; “.

Some of America’s CINOs (Conservatives In Name Only) should think about what they support and oppose. Gun rights are a Constitutional guarantee and Gov. Kaine is wrong to oppose the clear Constitutional right of the people to bear arms (CINOs always seem to forget the “well regulated militia” wording but it probably is a right). How dare he defy the Constitution? However, when Webb tries to ensure that President Bush does what the Constitution very clearly requires - he’s just following the editorial policy of the WaPo.

Do you CINOs believe in the Constitution or not?

Or it is just “another document” that only needs to be considered when it supports your personal preferences?

As Freud said, “Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.” Whether or not you agree with him, Webb has proven to be an excellent representative for the moderate to liberal Virginians who voted for him.

It is hard to tell which side he’s on, but I think it’s the Dead Presidents. I sent an e mail asking him to repeal the outrageous fees added to driver’s fines as they were disproportional to the offence and NOT the way to raise highway funds as well as it let non Virginians off the hook. He sent back a reply to the effect….
Hold on, help is on the way. We are working very hard to change it so EVERYONE will have to pay. I hope now you feel better about this matter.

    your pal,
    Jim

Citizen 12 - Wasn’t that a state law enacted by the Virginia General Assembly? Shouldn’t you have sent an e-mail to your Virginia Delagate or (state) Senator? Maybe Webb held state-wide office and I just don’t remember.

I also have some problems with Webb’s policies. However, even when I am frustrated with Ole’ Jim W, I try to remember this:

“The Navy Cross is presented to James H. Webb, Jr., First Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving as a Platoon Commander with Company D, First Battalion, Fifth Marines, First Marine Division (Reinforced), Fleet Marine Force, in connection with combat operations against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam. On 10 July 1969, while participating in a company-sized search and destroy operation deep in hostile territory, First Lieutenant Webb’s platoon discovered a well-camouflaged bunker complex that appeared to be unoccupied. Deploying his men into defensive positions, First Lieutenant Webb was advancing to the first bunker when three enemy soldiers armed with hand grenades jumped out. Reacting instantly, he grabbed the closest man and, brandishing his .45 caliber pistol at the others, apprehended all three of the soldiers. Accompanied by one of his men, he then approached the second bunker and called for the enemy to surrender. When the hostile soldiers failed to answer him and threw a grenade that detonated dangerously close to him, First Lieutenant Webb detonated a claymore mine in the bunker aperture, accounting for two enemy casualties and disclosing the entrance to a tunnel. Despite the smoke and debris from the explosion and the possibility of enemy soldiers hiding in the tunnel, he then conducted a thorough search that yielded several items of equipment and numerous documents containing valuable intelligence data. Continuing the assault, he approached a third bunker and was preparing to fire into it when the enemy threw another grenade. Observing the grenade land dangerously close to his companion, First Lieutenant Webb simultaneously fired his weapon at the enemy, pushed the Marine away from the grenade, and shielded him from the explosion with his own body. Although sustaining painful fragmentation wounds from the explosion, he managed to throw a grenade into the aperture and completely destroy the remaining bunker. By his courage, aggressive leadership, and selfless devotion to duty, First Lieutenant Webb upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and of the United States Naval Service.”

The man has some standing to comment on “taking action” against Iran.

None. Cut from the same cloth.

We get the government we elect. Don’t b*tch and moan about the losers that represent us. The fault is only our own.

    Groveton,
You are correct. I will retract that statment, and file it until the topic of Govenor Kaine comes up. I know it read Jim Webb, but the brain saw Tim Kaine.

We got Webb because of Senator Mucaca and his failure to do ANYTHING of substance while he was there. Mucaca should have been the conservative’s champion but instead he was a do-nothing bozo that got ejected for using a racial epithet. Webb is a jerk as well, but he just happened to be in the right place at the right time when Mucaca screwed the pooch royally. Allen was a bought and paid for politician in the employee of big business like 99% of the conservatives in office now. As much as I can’t stand the dems it is time that the repubs got sent to the corner to think about how badly they have let down their constituents and how badly they have screwed this country during their tenure. We will be lucky to crawl our way back out of this abyss as it is.

    Citizen 12:

I am happy to join you in condemnation of Gov. Kaine or pretty much anybody in the current General Assembly. Let’s see…

    1. The abusive driving fees were passed and implemented although it seems clear that the electorate hated the idea and the fees could not be imposed on out-of-state drivers.

    2. The Rail To Dulles federal funding was in serious jeopardy for a long time. Yet the state continued to push the idea and spend money on the concept (as did local governments). When the feds (predictably) pulled the plug, the Governor and GA acted like they were shocked.

    3. The Northern Virginia Transportation Board was formed by the GA and signed into law by Kaine. Then, within months, it was found to be unconstitutional. This fairly obvious conclusion by the court killed the transportation bill.

And those are just the very recent transportation-related screw ups.
