Let’s focus on cleaning up our neighborhoods so people will want to live here once again.

In Westgate, we have been doing our own “clean sweeps” going street by street with notepads and digital cameras, and turning in any zoning violation to Neighborhood Services. We then submit our zoning complaints with photographic evidence so the violation is not disputed.

We are also working on initiating Neighborhood Watches on a street by street basis.

Do we work on getting neighborhoods put back together or do we work on getting services put back in place for those who deserve them or do we put efforts into getting out the word that people who wish to have law abiding citizens as their neighbors are not racists?

What course of action would seem the most prudent at this time? I think getting the neighborhoods back on track is the best one, IMHO.

You are right. The neighborhoods must get cleaned up. They are slowly but surely in the neighborhoods where citizens have become involved and report violations to the county.

I am very pleased to hear Loch Lomond has gotten a “clean sweep” done by Neighborhood Services. The notices went up on the doors a couple of weeks ago. So we should see improvements there soon.

I am glad Corey will be staying right here finishing the work at hand for Prince William County. It’s now time to proceed in a positive manner.

I was glad to hear that Corey decided to stay put. The ticket will be a great asset to Va. and the Party. Thats what we need working together and not trying to out do the other and take your time. As his time will come, but he needs to concentrate on Pr. Wm. and his Chairmanship.

We are doing gteat on the illegals.Now we need to get the neighborhoods clean.

I think this is best for Corey. While there was something to be said for striking while the iron was hot, he can now get some seasoning, which would have been the main point of criticism against him.

Based on Advocator’s post, I suggest that the local government officials in our surrounding jurisdictions owe Mr. Stewart and company a thank you for keeping vermin like this off the street.

Prince William has and will continue to see it’s fair share of challenges over the next several years. Corey will have the opportunity to demonstrate effective leadership beyond the hot button issues of controlled growth and illegal aliens.

It’s a challenging time for elected officials, local government and for our citizens. Citizens are carrying the financial burden of supporting local government and schools.

It is time to make the local ecomony our number one priority. Local government needs a strategic plan that demonstrates an innovative approach to attracting revenue generating businesses to the county to pay for the construction of schools and libraries.

I hope Chairman Stewart will see this as a top priority.

Corey has a bright future. I am glad he decided to stay and see this process through. There’s nothing wrong with concentrating on an area of concern, particularly when it affects so many different aspects of the county. Illegal immigration impacts Prince William County citizens on many fronts, including transportation, taxes, overcrowding, and other quality of life issues.

If Corey does his job well here, he won’t have to worry about impressing the folks in Richmond. He’ll ride to Richmond on a tidal wave of support.

A Montgomery County-based MS-13 gang member and illegal immigrant who allegedly stabbed a man almost to death after being released on bond following an earlier attack is now in custody in Prince William County, where his immigration status may complicate his extradition.

Milton Calderon-Melendez, 25, of El Salvador, is awaiting extradition from Prince William to Montgomery to face charges of assault and conspiracy to commit second-degree murder. Meanwhile, as Prince William’s policy dictates, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have already been informed of his illegal presence in the U.S.

On the night of July 18, two Montgomery County police on surveillance duty near the intersection of Lost Knife Road and Odenthall Avenue in Gaithersburg said they observed Calderon-Melendez punch Kiana Snowden, 15, in the face. He was promptly arrested and later admitted to being a member of the violent MS-13 street gang. Calderon-Melendez was then released on $2,500 bail until his trial on Aug. 17, which he never appeared for.

On Aug. 20, he and Jose Gagoberto Flores Cardova allegedly assaulted Cardova’s roommate, known only as Salguero in court documents, in their 8200 Iron Clad Court apartment in Gaithersburg.

According to police, Cardova beat Salguero in the head with a baseball bat and Calderon-Melendez stabbed him in the sternum with a knife. Police found the bloody bat and a broken knife in the house after the two had already fled.

Had Calderon-Melendez originally been arrested in Prince William, his immigration status would have been checked and he would’ve stayed in jail, Prince William County police said. But it’s not Montgomery County policy to check the immigration status of those arrested, Seth Zucker, spokesman for Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy, said.

When bail is set in Montgomery County by bail commissioners, the state’s attorney makes no argument and it is only in cases in which a suspect can’t post bail right away or bail is waived by the commissioners that the state’s attorney argues on the potential for suspect to flee, Zucker said.

Calderon-Melendez was released the day of his arrest in July, and after the August attack, he laid low until finally arrested by a Prince William County gang unit on Friday.
