The person I am thinking of who I consider an ultra perv is no longer in this area, he has moved on to greener pastures-a private school in the southwest. One of those ticking time bomb types. So we are all safe, at least from that one.

I’m not aware of any. I just know that when I compare the school our son it attending, and the public school he is eligible to attend, there is not contest.

And that is your right to feel that way. My only point is that no kid is totally protected from perverts, I am sorry to say. Small private schools are probably easier to monitor because of volume but they are certainly not exempt from pervs. I am not at liberty to give examples.

That sounds highly unusual. The administration at that school has a very good reputation. Did you hear the teacher say that and under what circumstances?

No, what I am saying is at least when it comes to this City and the County, and what has gone on in the last few years, from teachers selling drugs, to kids having sex in school, to the pervs and everything else, I do not want my child anywhere near these two public school systems.

Of course not. I was only keeping count in the county, since I live there and only for this year. There could have been hundreds, thousands, that I haven’t heard about though.

No one likes a pervert. Rather than being smug, I would just accept that you cannot ever totally vet for pervs and just be careful. You do other readers a disservice if they think their children are safe in private school. It can and does happen in both.

One of the biggest pervs I have ever seen is now teaching in a private school. Not to fear…he isn’t in this area, to my knowledge. I wouldn’t want him around my dog.

I’m not worried about that, because the teachers at my son’s school have all been vetted, besides, we see how the vetting process works in the public school system, not!

Unless you home school your child, you are have a real false sense of security that your child will never face a child predator. Private schools have child molesters also. In fact, I am not so sure the incidence isn’t worse. There is less vetting of teachers in private schools.

Why do I say that? If you are a state licensed teacher and there is any funny business, your license gets pulled in a NY minute. It is real difficult to find another job in a public school without your certification.

Private schools do not have to have certification. A private school gets a bad apple and fires him, that apple just rolls on to the next job. Private schools generally pay much less. They aren’t going to get the pick of the litter to start with unless they get a real dedicated person who is willing to work for about 2/3 of the pay.

Please stay vigilant. If something sounds funny, it probably IS funny.

However, it should be painful to be stupid. I hope they get a nice little summer in jail or doing community service…in a poison ivy patch. The battlefield has lots of poison ivy and will take people for community service.

Yes, I have a vested interest as well, my tax dollars are being wasted on any number of programs that are not needed.

I would not have an issue with public schools if the schools were doing what they are supposed to do which is to educate students.

It is abhorring that children are the victims of predators but if any of you think these same things do not happen in private schools then you must be from Mars. Let’s not bash all the good that is done by all the good teachers in our public schools.

People are beginning to realize that there are alternatives to government schools. Next we have to make sure we are not paying for what we are not using–tax credits for home schoolers, private schoolers. Let the public schools compete for my dollars. Competition is good for every one.

Bull Run certainly has been plagued by misfortune. First it had a kid bring a gun to school and had a near miss with a horrible situation. Now a 53 year old teacher has been arrested for child pornography and involvement with an under-age girl. Both situations are totally inexcusable.

How does one prevent such things? I have no idea. Obviously doing away with students and teachers defeats the purpose. I just don’t think you can ever ensure that things like this do not happen. In all probability, this latest incident did not happen on school property or during the school day. For that we can be thankful. Still, we don’t want people like this around our boys and girls. I am telling myself innocent until proven guilty.
