It used to be that all new State Police recruits got stationed first in Logan County… for “training”. If they survived, then they were deemed good enough to be a Trooper. :-)

Logan is a rough county and a most interesting book is Blood Letting in Appalachia about the Coal Wars and how the US ARMY fought the civilians and Court Marshaled them and put them in jail with out a civilian court.
