The WashPo Talks PWC Blogs
By Greg L | 4 April 2008 | Blogs, Prince William County | 32 Comments
The Washington Post decided to revisit the blog scene in Prince William County in today’s edition with an article that discusses BVBL and a new website by illegal alien supporter Alana Almeda that popped up recently to whine about BVBL and yours truly in particular. As BlogNetNews guru Dave Mastio pointed out in this article, when someone starts up a website to mimic you, it kinds of plays into your hands as a blogger. The public debate in Prince William County starts at BVBL, now more than ever.
What’s really notable about Alana Almeda’s entry into the blogging world is that it’s not at all her first foray into internet-based political activism. As the force behind RemoveStirrup.com, which has been engaged in an ongoing violation of Virginia’s election laws by not providing the required disclaimers on the website nor filing required campaign finance reports, not only is she supporting the actions of those who willfully violated the law, but is actively complicit with efforts to break the laws that protect the integrity of our elections. Despite the strident claims of moral superiority, the fast-and-loose noncompliance with the law she demonstrates isn’t terribly different that the noncompliance of federal immigration laws exhibited by the illegal aliens she so strongly defends. First I find myself in opposition of a committed Communist-Anarchist revolutionary with connections to a foreign guerrilla movement. Now there’s someone who cries about the democratic process while being complicit in attempts to undermine it.
It’s awfully convenient to have political opponents that are so dedicated to the concept of self-sabotage.
Alana Almeda, the so-called “compassionate conservative”, has given us an amusing demonstration of our local equivalent of “Bush Derangement Syndrome”, being both a source of low comedy and the repository for some rather bizarre claims. They seem to believe that I exhibit more political influence in Prince William County than some of our elected officials, and am some sort of grand puppetmaster that can force public officials to fulfill my personal whims — apparently even former Supervisor Hilda Barg who voted for the Rule of Law Resolution, before she decided to try to take her colleagues who supported it to task in a recent BOCS meeting for voting as she had. Maybe they think I’m William Day.
What these folks just aren’t getting from the perspective of their ten acre abodes in Haymarket, far removed from the negative impacts of illegal immigration, is that public officials have been responding to legitimate public concerns about residential overcrowding, day laborer centers, criminal illegal aliens, and the transition of our local community into something that more resembles Mexico’s state of Chiapas than Manassas. It’s easy to talk about “earned citizenship” for illegal aliens when you only encounter them when they come to mow your lawn instead of inundating your local schools, overcrowding a third of the houses on your street, and filling your community with MS-13 gang-bangers. It’s not one person who is raising a flag here, it’s a huge number of residents who have been given some degree of hope that they can actually play a part in rescuing their communities from the impacts of illegal aliens, and they’ve done that by engaging with their elected officials. The concerns of these residents are legitimate, and the dramatic positive changes they’ve seen as a result of the Rule of Law Resolution aren’t going to be eliminated because of hyper-emotional appeals on behalf of these poor illegal aliens who are now victims of an insufficient degree of political correctness on the part of regular citizens.
It should be interesting to see just how long it will take before Alana Almeda understands that her efforts here are utterly pointless. She can’t change what citizens have seen, nor how their quality of life has improved over the past several months.

Illegal Aliens?
This choctaw believes you whitefaces are illegal, and genocidal.
Good thing the rerpublicans ae going into the dustheap of history.
It aint pretty, but itll work for me!
I think Alana is a hottie, with the emergence of herself and Nancy Lyall on the scene I’m overwhelmed with hotness.
i’ve been looking for a few illegals to fix up my roof and yard…ya’ think that antibvbl.net is the place to look? I think if anyone could hook me up they could
Amnesty is on the way…
….you guys are finished…
I think Alanna Almeda encourages law breaking. She not only encourages it she celebrates it.
This community, the citizens and legal residents, will not go back to illegal aliens subjecting us to their criminal activity such as murder, rape, gang activity, drunk driving/driving without licenses with no insurance, outdoor beer parties, brawls, public exposure and urination, midnight visits by illegals trying to gain entry into your home thinking it is the safe house, overcrowding, trash and rats.
I personally know three people who have been hit by illegal aliens driving. One person has been hit three times within the last 6 years.
No, we will not go back to that. Never!!!
For the first time in six years I’ve seen people walk down the sidewalk in my neighborhood. I’ve seen seniors. I’ve seen parents with their kids. I’ve seen people walk their dogs. I’ve seen runners. I have personally seen a tremendous turn around in my neighborhood. I’ve seen Neighborhood Watches popping up. I’ve seen community involvement by my neighbors. I’ve seen my neighborhood changing from what looked a lawless third world country to a neighborhood that is family friendly and beginning a renaissance.
It’s wonderful!!!
I thank God for the Rule of Law resolution.
I thank the Board of County Supervisors for passing it and going forward with it. God bless them!!!
Supporters of illegal aliens either live in a dream land or are profiting in some way by this disaster that is bankrupting the U.S taxpayers. Anyone with their eyes wide open would and should be alarmed at the illegal alien invasion, occurring in this country. My neighborhood is not seeing any turn around. The houses are still abandoned. Most have no for sale signs on them. One house with (I believe 2 families of Hispanics) still have a Pre-Foreclosure sign on the front lawn. I think it’s been 3 months now. I am thankful for this site and for all the work that Greg L. has done. He speaks for so many of us that are disgusted that illegal aliens are not held to the same lawful standard as U.S. Citizens. Keep up the great work!
I live in Vienna. Since Herndon and PWC have shown less tolerance to illegal aliens, I have noticed an increase in day laborers where I live. Along with this has come an increase in overcrowded and eyesore houses, apparent zoning violations, large trucks parked in residential areas, and groups of men milling around in front of the drugstore waiting for a pickup (once in awhile one stabs another, how nice?!), beer bottle litter and all that niceness. I imagine we will soon have trouble finding a soccer field for our kids to play on, if the WaPo story is true that the semi-pro leagues have a lot of illegal players and fans and seem to be leaving PWC for Fairfax Co. I guess they are headed our way to use our resources. I have nothing against Spanish speaking people at all, in fact my family speaks Spanish as well as English and is from Puerto Rico (i.e., American citizens). I just believe that all immigrants must be legal immigrants. That is not unreasonable, is it? I don’t think that most of the people against illegal immigration are racist or nationalist. Most are being realistic. Why should we have immigration and labor laws if we aren’t going to enforce them?
why do gothardt and lyall and their supporters think that our problems with illegals will be solved if they are given amnesty? The behaviors/living conditions/corruption/problems won’t be changed by a piece of paper.
I checked out the anti-blog. You should take it as flattery. She wants to copy you!
ANTIBVBL is pathetic and is made up of a bunch of nagging, whining, wastes of space. I am personally glad that we don’t have to be subjected to their inane comments any longer.
It is an anti-Greg, anti-Help Save Manassas, and anti-do anything about the illegal aliens site.
The people who regularly post there are pathetic as well. They aren’t doing anything to improve our community. ANTIBVBL wants a war against those of us who refuse to tolerate the presence of illegal aliens in PWC.
Greg, don’t give them any more blog time.
The hate, racism, and rhetoric were all initiated/instigated by the pro-illegal alien apologists, and they continue to perpetuate it.

I doubt that this wasn’t happening before. What neighborhood are you talking about Patty? I’d like to swing by and see if it is so radically different like you say.
Loudoun
Well, I guess the best thing then would be for you to stay away from it. Did they send out invitations for us to go look?
OK. I spent 10 minutes looking at Bizarro BVBL. Now my eyes hurt.
Why no, Benton, they didn’t invite us to look at it. After reading the article in WaPo, I decided to go check it out.
Prince, it is true what Patty says - I live 1 1/2 blocks from her. We have an amazing turn around in Westgate since the illegal aliens are leaving. Thank you Help Save Manassas!
Greg: Didn’t you trademark this site’s design?

If you believe that I have 25 miles of Mexico coastline I want to sell cheap.

Head em up and move em out. Another Latino put a for sale sign up today in my neighborhood. Expect them to move in the middle of the night. Many more ARMS kick in 1 May to expect to see a great deal more hitting the road.

You are absolutely correct Patty. I live in the Sudley area and believe me there has been a great change in the past few months. Very seldom see the bicycle brigades or the carriage caravans heading for K-Mart. It will only get better. Keep the pressure on! Viva the resolution!
Advocator,
You can’t trademark a website design. You can, however, have a copyright.

you are so right, many of the latino’s in my neck of the woods are splitting and it’s surreal, they leave in the middle of the night like burglars or something, I really dont get why they cant move during the day when most people are awake.
When my latino neighbors bailed on their house because they couldnt afford it I had to call the cops on them because they were making too much damn noise at 2am.
it’s strange out there, I went to walmart today and saw far fewer latino’s there. The 7-11 on route 1/parkway still has people there but fewer. all in all, I think they are splitting town and I’m happier for it.
as someone mentioned before…head them up and move them out!!
Greg, it’s for sure that imitation is the greatest form of flattery, so
be proud, my friend, for all you’ve done and continue to do for your
community. I’ve gone back over some of the comments posted on
your blog and must say that I’m shocked that a lot of your faithful
bloggers aren’t more pro-active in your defense, especially when it
had to do with Chief Deane and his bulliness. Even “Good Time Charlie”
didn’t come through. In addition, I don’t understand why you think you
owe anyone who clicks onto this blog an apology….you certainly don’t!
I’m not one to express my thoughts via a blog, but dammit, I just had
to let you know how I feel.
I thought you guys would find this interesting:

Hey , all you Prince William County haters ! What a great concept to attract all those home buyers of foreclosed property ! “Prince William County Virginia, where the only crime of the future will be by white racist criminals “….Sure to attract lots of tax paying business. By the way,…how are you going to pay for your schools, teachers , police , firefighters , health services (especially for your elderly, because not many intellegent young professionals would consider the option of locating there), parks , environmental controls, trash pick-up, county road up keep, animal shelter, funding of county retirement ? ,….not to mention funding county building maintenance , school bus fleet , police car fleet , building inspection, restaraunt inspection..(oh,…. that’s right…fewer of those to inspect…out of business…due to mass emigration…..no pun intended,…my bad)…without raising your property and other taxes?…YES!
Locate to Prince William County , where there will only be white crime and BIG taxes!!!!!!

“Hey , all you Prince William County haters…” [ad nauseum]
You’re a sterling representative for your ilk.
Teddy,
at least if you mention the word “professional” we have no worries of you moving here!
you fail to realize that as the illegals move and more affluent people take their places (as all the crappy places are bulldozed) then taxes and everything else will not be a worry. Also, as for the police, teachers, etc…less illegals = less crime, less ESOL, etc…
Well said Josh!
Glad to hear the neighborhoods are recovering from the overcrowding and that people are starting to walk about without worrying about being hassled as they enjoy the day.
I still see a bunch of kids at the bus stops coming from the apts up the hill from me, but it’s not 40 kids waiting on the bus, it’s now more like 25 and they are no longer watering our bushes or climbing on our fence since one of PWCPD’s finest is watching the bus stop a few mornings a week out in plain view so all can see.
Looks like Fairfax better build some more soccer fields…
Hey, Ted,
What happened to all of the Asians, African-Americans, Pacific Islanders, etc. in your ridiculous scenario? Did they all get deported, too?
Substitute any of the above for “white” in your posting, and you’ll see how hate-filled and racist your attitude is. In case you haven’t noticed, PWC is much more diverse than just “Latino” and “white” and most of us like it that way.
Play the race card, and you lose. We’re not buying it. We’re talking about law-breakers here.
Loudoun:
Trademark, copyright, patent - it’s all too intellectual for me.
Greg - The Washington Post is interesting, and is often significant. Alana Almeda, not so much.

Gerry is doing us no favors by laying out the Welcome Mat for the fleeing PWC illegal aliens.
With a mega million dollars budget shortfall, legal residents are taking a closer look at our budget and many don’t like some of the numbers they see.
They are starting to ask questions that make the Board and Gerry a little uncomfortable. Some of our supervisors are so arrogant they are replying with comments easily interpreted to mean, “you voted for us, live with it!”
Of greatest concern, Gerry continues to publically proclaim Fairfax County does not have a problem with illegal aliens. He refused to implement 287(g) and relies solely on a woefully inadequate State Police database. When asked how the State Police database serves the community when an illegal alien is detained with outstanding warrants from another state, he sputters and changes the subject. During the past few years, Gerry has become quite proficient at supputtering and changing the subject - with many topics.
This pertains more to Northern VA but includes PWC and may be of interest.
A few weeks ago, “Service Magic’s Little Black Book” was mailed to thousands of homes in DC Metro Area. It is a listing of “Washington, DC’s Top-Rated Home Improvement Contractors.”
The Website, Contact and 800 number are:
www.servicemagic.com
conscustomerservice@servicemagic.com
1-800-Contractor
—————
I contacted several of the contractors in this “little black book” expressing an interest in their services and also asked if they were members of the Northern VA contractors who signed the pledge to implement E-Verify and hire only American Workers.
Apparently none of these contractors wanted my business if they were required to sign the pledge, and one was quite outraged that I would make such an unreasonable request.
My point for this post: there are 160 “rated” home improvement professionals listed in this “little black book” and, if any of them are complying with state and federal employment laws, they aren’t telling anyone.
Rating a business IMHO goes beyond a (paid) advertisement in a “little black book” from an unknown source.
If a business does not comply with state and local hiring laws, I have to question how many other shortcuts they are taking when they are working on a job. This shakes my confidence!
———
It may be I was the only one to contact any of these contractors. Maybe they need more “inquiries” to take this seriously.
I encourage anyone who is considering contract work to encourage them to add their business to the list.
