So in order to be "diverse" the County needs criminals?

The chamber is just that, a chamber pot. Chamber pots from the local level to the Federal Chamber support criminals so it really comes as no surprise to see a couple of local politicians suck up to them.

The bottom line is will the County continue to enforce the law, or will it cave in to the criminals?

Principi is an arrogant, pompous, hypocritical, hyperbolic babbler. His backsliding on the immigration should surprise no one. How many newly elected Supervisors (before being sworn-in) would demand a private dedicated phone at county expense? Why? Was it to conduct his crisis management consulting business out of his County Office? Or in the middle of a budget crisis demand the County Executive bury nearly $100,000 for office renovations to change the foot print to enhance privacy. Why? Is it to conduct his crisis management consulting business operation from the Woodbridge District Office? Or to the placing his own Mother on the District Office Payroll after posting a job vacancy, claiming he couldn’t find a qualified applicant from over 100 resumes. Why?

Yes, according to an email that circulated, less than 3 weeks after being elected, prior to his official assumption of duties as the Woodbridge Supervisor, Principi met with County Executive Craig Gerhart. Unfortunately, Woodbridge constituents seem to have been omitted from the agenda list. However, what did make the action item request list to the County Executive was how to deal with the office renovation request of nearly $100,000 when the property management budget only had $27,000 available.

If he is Hilda Barg's "puppet" then his Mother is pulling the strings. Yes, his Mother came all the way from California to work in his office.

It appears that the Woodbridge folks have a real winner in Principi.

The only thing that has been realized is that PW Co and Manassas are becoming ghost towns. Now that we have empty houses, empty businesses and we will have widespread blight. Guess who will end up paying for it. In addition, the other benefit is a loss of substantial tax revenue.
</blockquote>

Uhhh, what substantial tax revenue?

Those employers paid under the table were not paying any taxes.
Those receiving money under the table were not paying taxes.
Those living 3-4 families to a house were not paying enough taxes, yet the children were taking from the school system.

Gas tax and sales tax do not count as paying taxes. If that is the case, then I want a 100% refund of the money my employer took out for the state and federal taxes this past year. I didn't get it all back, I even had to pay the state MORE tax.

The empty houses are NOT a direct result of the resolution. They are a direct result of the housing market down turn. This was happening LONG before the resolution was even voted on. Those who blame the housing situation in PWC on the resolution may as well blame the NATION WIDE housing problems on it as well!!!

Appliance Connection does have salesmen that work only on the commercial (meaning residential builders) side. Nohe has repeatedly said he does not work in that department, but he doesn't the deny that the company sell appliances to builders just like they sell to homeowners.

Sheriff Joe:

Goldwater Institute Daily Email
April 02, 2008

Did the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office recent use of Racketeering Influence and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) funds to send staff members to Honduras violate the law-enforcement purposes to which such funds are limited?

Did the sheriff’s highly publicized “saturation patrols”—comprised of nearly 200 deputies and “posse” members—trespass the jurisdiction of the Phoenix Police Department? The feud between the Sheriff’s Office and local police departments, bereft of coordination or agreement over priorities, threatens to devolve into law enforcement anarchy.

Whatever the rationale the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office had for those actions, both diverted scarce resources away from vital law enforcement duties that fall within the Sheriff’s Office’s core duties:

• Unserved warrants, including those for violent offenders, number an estimated 70,000.
• Dozens of criminal defendants have missed court appearances because deputies in charge of moving inmates were told to skip shifts due to excessive overtime.
• The Sheriff’s Office closed three regional booking facilities in Surprise, Avondale, and Mesa, forcing police officers in all 26 Maricopa County jurisdictions to book criminal suspects at the Fourth Avenue jail in downtown Phoenix. The greatly increased transportation time removes officers from the streets and induces them to simply cite and release criminals.

To avoid competing law enforcement and duplication of resources, the Legislature should clarify the jurisdictions of the Sheriff’s Office and local police departments. And the Sheriff’s Office’s spending practices should be made far more transparent through regular, comprehensive audits. Phoenix’s enduring crime problem is too severe to let the status quo continue.

FHL: Spin it however you like, but EVERYONE I know calls this area little Mexico and won't live here because of it. The area USED to have the redneck rep, but people know now that this is no longer the case. My friends were sending me instant messages last week thanking me for sending all the illegals from my area to their neighborhoods in Centreville. I told them that they were welcome! ;) Only when the libs wake up in their Clifton and Fairfax Station homes to the sight of 12 people to a house, people coming and going 24/7 and white work vans all over their cul-de-sacs will things change in NOVA. I plan to be there on that day with a bullhorn calling them racist xenophobes and mean-spirited A-holes.

Let’s see if I can follow your logic here Robert: Illegal aliens have been known to build homes, homes have alliances, Marty Nohe sells appliances therefore he is getting rich from this alliance of ideas?

What if I go buy a dryer from Mary Nohe? My house wasn’t built by illegal aliens. Where does this fit in to Marty’s get rich quick scheme? Maybe he won’t sell me an appliance. No illegal alien in the sale.

Robert, is it my imagination or do you mention mental illness in most of your posts?

I don’t know for a fact that Nohe’s business doesn’t sell to new home builders but I can tell you for a fact that when I was in property management I did NOT buy any of my appliances through a store. I ordered straight from GE and they delivered right to my properties. I could not get a cheaper prince than that of what I received from the appliance manufactures directly.

It would only make sense to me that builders would purchase from the manufactures in order to maintain their profit margins and not from a local store. I may be wrong but I am not buying into that one.

park'd said on 12 Apr 2008 at 6:29 pm:
“the question was what is the county going to do about our reputation?”
Our reputation at least amongst the people that I know and talk to that live in Fairfax and other areas is that PWC and the 2 cities are where all the illegals live so therefore nobody wants to live here. It slays me when libs say that the reason nobody wants to live here is because we are all racists. Nobody wants to live here because we have let this area get turned into a 3rd world slum.
-----------
Don't know who you have been talking to but people I know and people I have talked with who live in Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria and DC think people who live in PW Co, and the Manassas area are still flying Confederate Flags. They think we are a bunch of uneducated racists. One friend works in Manassas and is embarrassed to tell his acquaintances where he lives in FFX Co. that he works here.

Greg L said "Supervisors Nohe and Principi are talking about re-vamping the Rule of Law Resolution right at the time when the benefits are starting to be realized."
----------
The only thing that has been realized is that PW Co and Manassas are becoming ghost towns. Now that we have empty houses, empty businesses and we will have widespread blight. Guess who will end up paying for it. In addition, the other benefit is a loss of substantial tax revenue.

"Then he came out said ‘untrue rumors were spread about my position on the resolution”. Looks like maybe the rumors were closer to the truth."

Anon, is it not JUST as possible that Marty is the VICTIM of people who are continually trying to spread rumors which put a different spin on everything that Marty may say. Perhaps you should look more closely at his ACTIONS rather than at the rumors about what his actions MAY become. If you have concerns about those rumors...ask him. He WILL respond.

Umm, gosh, I hope I'm not being too agricultural here, but let's call a trowel a trowel. Implementing these measures has costs, and there you go! Ideally, the outcome will be (and was always intended to be) a somewhat smaller population with a slightly more predictable growth pattern. That was the plan, and it's working just fine. If you don't like that plan, then sell us a different one. I wish you luck with that, "More People, Chaotic Growth!" platform.
