ICE Fixes Their Problem
By Greg L | 15 April 2008 | Illegal Aliens, Crime, Prince William County | 18 Comments
After facing some pretty strong criticism, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency finally has finally started living up to their agreement with Prince William County, and took responsibility for 60 illegal aliens this week, according to the DC Examiner. One thing about bureaucracies — their opportunity to advocate for more funding often has a lot to do with public perceptions about how effectively they are using the resources they already have. I’m sure the story about ICE not picking up illegal aliens with immigration detainers made a lot of folks over at ICE pretty uncomfortable.
More than 60 suspected illegal immigrants detained at the Prince William County jail have been picked up by federal immigration authorities since Friday.
The transfers come after complaints by jail officials that federal agents were taking weeks to pick up the immigrants, rather than 72 hours under an agreement that went into effect in July.
So now there’s one less argument in favor of gutting the Rule of Law Resolution. It took all of about one week to fix this problem, and all that was needed was a little bit of sunshine.
Nice job, folks.

Well, let’s see.
The jail is back to a manageable population.
The ESOL classes are diminishing, thus saving the school system money.
Crime is diminishing.
There’s less trash on the streets.
There are places to park in the neighborhoods.
Employers have to hire legal residents at a decent wage, now (or import the illegals from Fairfax).
Joggers and baby strollers are back on the side streets.
What’s not to like about this resolution? The fact that some people either have to pay real wages to domestic help or cut their own grass and wash their own toilets?
High praise is due for the Patrolmen on the PWCPD, the ADC, and their leaders who have made this work.

Prohibition of the hiring of illegal immigrants in MO

Great News!!
VICTORY IN VALLEY PARK
“David overcomes Goliath” in Valley Park, MO. A City Ordinance to prevent the hiring of illegal aliens prevailed in the small river city of Valley Park (a St. Louis County suburb).
VALLEY PARK , MO Jan 31, 2008 ? The U. S. District Court of Eastern Missouri today upheld a local Ordinance that will have national repercussions.
U.S. District Court Judge E. Richard Webber ruled in favor of an Ordinance that will prohibit the hiring of illegal aliens within Valley Park city limits. Under the new Ordinance, any Valley Park business employing illegal aliens will lose their business license.
?We couldn?t be happier with Judge Webber?s ruling,? said Donna Ivanovich, Chairman of the Constitution Party of Missouri. ?Upholding this Ordinance will make it easier for cities across the country to pass similar laws.?
The court battle over the legality of the Ordinance has been described as a ?David and Goliath? match up. ?The ACLU brought in 22 high-powered lawyers and an unlimited budget to fight this Ordinance,? explained Ivanovich. ? Valley Park is a small town with limited resources. It took a lot of courage to take a stand against such a powerful opponent. The Missouri Constitution Party was determined not to let Valley Park fight alone. Not only is this Ordinance a blow to illegal immigration, it also affirms the principle of local self-determination. The Constitution Party sees both issues as vital.?
?I?m proud to say that the CPMO [Constitution Party of Missouri] stepped up to the plate. It was in the forefront of developing a legal defense fund for Valley Park ,? said Ivanovich. ?The fundraising event that we sponsored brought in thousands of dollars. Our newsletters kept an interested public informed on the fight and the issues behind them.?
?It was time and effort well spent,? concluded Ivanovich.
Valley Park is a suburb located 20 miles west of St. Louis . Its population is about 7500.
Isn’t that awesome!!!! Like a snowball rolling down hill!! Just keeps getting bigger and bigger!!!

======================================
Hello Boaters,
Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) has done what Margaret Podlitch (BOATUS) hoped for. Senator Boxer introduced a new, politically viable bill in the Senate to head off the onerous discharge permit system that is looming over recreational boaters.
It is time for us to urge our US Senators to support this boater-friendly bill, S. 2766, The Clean Boating Act of 2008. Write a letter, phone or send an email. Better yet, do all three.
Go to: www.boatblue.org
The link will enable you to ask your Members of Congress to support S. 2766, the Clean Boating Act read S. 2766, the Clean Boating Act of 2008 get additional information on the looming discharge permit problem.
Sorry for the above post…I meant to post it on the Open Thread.
SUBJECT: HARSH, YOU SAY?
There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools,
no special ballots for elections, all government business will be
conducted in our language.
Foreigners will NOT have the right to vote no matter how
long they are here.
Foreigners will NEVER be able to hold political office.
Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare,
no food stamps, no health care, or any government assistance
programs.
Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an
amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.
If foreigners do come and want to buy land that will be
okay, BUT options will be restricted. You are not allowed
waterfront property.
That is reserved for citizens naturally born into this country.
Foreigners may not protest; no demonstrations, no waving a
foreign flag, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our president or his
policies, if you do you will be sent home.
If you do come to this country illegally, you will be hunted
down and sent straight to jail.
Harsh, you say?
These are the immigration laws of “.” Mexico.
I’m sure the pro criminal crowd will come up with another excuse to criticize the program. Lately the excuse has been diversity as if removing illegals somehow makes this place less diverse.
Oh yes, and don’t forget to ask Nohe, Principi and Caddigan what THEY think of it.
Ice fixes the problem but Democrats do not
Watch this. Time to shut down the switchboards again?

Not so quick on the kudos, there, everyone. From the last line of the Examiner article we get this:
“County officials are considering retooling the program at the jail to address only the most serious criminals and yield fewer deportations.”
Advocator,
you seem to be saying Mission Accomplished. I would be a little more conservitive in calling the mission a success so far. It is far too early to be looking at the numbers and saying that it is because of the resolution.
Has the resolution had an impact, Yes, but so has the economy.
Either way PH the news is still great!
You are all dreamers!
In a way FHL…everyone is coming out of a nightmare!

ICE wants other states to copy Arizona program, deport illegal inmates early
Posted: 15 Apr 2008 08:40 PM CDT
Federal immigration officials want other states to copy an Arizona program that releases nonviolent illegal immigrants from state prisons early and then deports them. Arizona has turned over more than 1,400 state prisoners to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement since the program began in 2005, saving $18.6 million.
Eligible inmates were those convicted of crimes from drunken driving to lower-level drug charges. Arizona was the first state to team up with ICE under the Rapid Repatriation program helping state prison officials identify illegal immigrants when they are booked. New York has a similar program.
‘It’s a great program,’ ICE spokesman Vincent Picard said. ‘It keeps criminals off the streets of Arizona. It saves the state lots of money.’
Julie Myers, assistant secretary of homeland security for ICE. said the federal government has approached all the other states and is close to inking agreements with ‘a handful’ in the next few months. Populous border states with overcrowded prisons are a priority.

FHL,
In what way are we all dreamers?
Pat.Herve:
What else to I “seem” to be saying?
Is ICE picking up all the illegal aliens PWC police arrest, or just some? If just some, how many are they leaving behind?
What happens with the illegal aliens after ICE picks them up?
Call me paranoid but I can’t help but wonder if ICE is just putting on a show and drops them off somewhere else, like an animal that wanders into town?
