More Stupid Vandalism - UPDATED

By Greg L | 16 April 2008 | Crime, Manassas City | 70 Comments

UPDATE: A photo of the damaged billboard is at the bottom of this post.

I’ve heard this evening that despite good citizens trying their best to keep an eye on this property, the billboard erected by Mexicans Without Borders at the corner of Prince William and Liberty Streets in Manassas has been vandalized. That was a stupid stunt, and I hope that whoever is responsible will be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. That billboard enrages me also, but those advocating for policies that will reduce the number of illegal aliens in the community should be the ones displaying absolute dedication to the rule of law, not breaking the law and vandalizing things that upset or annoy them.

Whoever is responsible for this deserves the condemnation of the entire community, and I am certain that condemnation will be swift and loud.

The Manassas City Council better start dealing with this situation, because that billboard is starting to develop into a public safety issue. If this becomes a battle between irresponsible “immigrant rights” advocates determined to commit acts of civic vandalism in the community with these signs, and irresponsible opponents of illegal immigration determined to commit their own acts of vandalism against them, this could change from criminal acts against property to criminal acts against persons. This billboard issue cannot languish much longer without developing a real potential for tragic outcomes. The City must act to resolve this situation.

Please, please keep an eye on this property and report any suspicious behavior to the police immediately.

UPDATE:  Here’s a picture of the damage to the billboard:

At this moment, the Council is too busy raising our taxes to be bothered with anything else. Besides, the “in” crowd wants the diversity and thinks the City has a bad reputation, so they think keeping the sign up is a good thing.

Seriously, I realize our form of Government is supposed to move slowly, but this is just ridiculous to have to wait this long for the sign to come down.

Here’s a rhetorical question: can something that is illegal be vandalized? How can one be prosecuted for defacing something that should not even be there in the first place?

I blame the city for this. The illegal supporters have been allowed to shove this sign in the face of local citizens for months now. It’s truly a taunt, and someone finally had enough of it. I say hooray for the person who did it. I hope it is completely destroyed.

The way zoning is ‘enforced’ in Manassas is shameful.
It is definitely slanted and favors a certain class of people. This sign is just another extension of the bias displayed, and a reason some longtime Manassas citizens are either leaving or making plans to leave.

By the way, what happened to ‘the sign’?

How was the sign vandalized (paint or knocking it down)? Maybe one of the illegal alien gangs decided to use this monstrosity for their graffiti. ;-)

That sign is full of lies:

    1. Millions of “Native Americans” were not exterminated.

    * Russel Thornton, American Indian Holocaust and Survival (1987)
    o Overall decline
    + From 600,000 (in 1800) to 250,000 (in 1890s)
o Indian Wars, from a 1894 report by US Census, cited by Thornton. Includes men, woman and children killed, 1775-1890:
    + Individual conflicts:
    # Whites: 5,000
    # Indians: 8,500
    + Wars under the gov’t:
    # Whites: 14,000
    # Indians: 30-45,000
    + TOTAL:
    # Whites: 19,000
    # Indians: 38,500 to 53,500
    # TOTAL: 65,000 ± 7,500
    * William Osborn: The Wild Frontier: atrocities during the American-Indian War from Jamestown Colony to Wounded Knee (2000)
o Deaths caused by specific settler atrocities: 7,193 (1623-1890)
o Deaths caused by specific Indian atrocities: 9,156 (1511-1879. Incl. Indian vs. Indian)
o Osborne basically defines an atrocity as murder or torture of civilians and prisoners. Most of your outright massacres are counted, but the Trail of Tears, for example, isn’t.
    * Trail of Tears (1838-39)
o Trager, The People’s Chronology: 4,000 out of 14,000 Cherokee die on route.
o Osborne: anywhere between 1,846 and 18,000 Indians died, in total.

    2. “Native Americans” are not native at all, but are genetically linked to Pacific Islanders and some Asian tribes.

    3. All of that crap about Native Americans being targeted by the Klan is nonsense. Besides, the KKK did not collaborate with town officials, they WERE the public officials up until the late 1920s. While some Blacks feared the Klan in both Southern and Northern cities, many White people saw the Klan as a local militia that dealt with a growing crime problem in areas that had very little police protection. Back when Democratic Senator, Robert Byrd was a Klansman, most factions of the Klan were more like social organizations and only a few isolated groups were guilty of the much publicized crimes. According to Senator Byrd, young men of his day joined the Klan as a way to establish business connections and show support for their local community, (I suppose much like how we join the volunteer rescue squad, these days). Now, what about La Raza? MS13? Kind of like your own little Latino klan, aren’t they?

    4. They don’t want to be our slaves. Well, good. Nobody here wants that either, so shut-up, go back home, get your immunizations and get in line with all of the other immigrants who are coming to America WITHOUT breaking our laws. America, and we Americans welcome you, but just come here legally.

If indeed the sign was defaced by unnamed conspirators, I’d say it was done by the same folks who distributed the purported “KKK” literature last summer.

The first time I read this new sign, I didn’t catch this, but upon this new post, I noticed something peculiar:

In the same message, the sign states that our law means nothing, because we took said land without a right to do so. Then, they later stand on the fact that their “constitutional rights” would be violated, are being violated, etc… Is it just me, or is that having your cake and eating it too? You can’t ignore our laws while at the same time assert our rights, that’s ridiculous, and is blatant circular logic.

If one wants to live under the rights that we have fought and died for, then you must accept the same laws that we live by. I don’t think you can have it each way to your own advantage. I wish I wouldn’t have been so dense as to miss this upon first reading.

Oh, and about the sign vandalism… We should give that person(s) a f#$%ing medal, imho.

Fuzzy: if this is not the pot calling the kettle black. You guys are the worlds kings when is comes to circular logic, and making up rules to suit your selfish agenda. If you take the time to study the history of the past 500 years here, this is all we see out of your people–constantly writing, changing the laws and logic for your own greedy agenda.

The great thing is that these games and tricks to steal other people’s land and wealth is all coming to a head–the chickens are coming home to roust. It does not matter how hard you work to continue the genocide of the past 500 years, the meek shall inherit the earth and a lot sooner than you think.

IndigenousNativeAmerican: Your people practiced genocide long before Europeans reclaimed this continent. The Aztecs at the height of their civilization sacrificed 30,000 people a year and waring groups showed no mercy to each other. Natives killed each other in far greater numbers than Europeans ever did.

I really do wish that the City of Manassas had taken my suggestion and erected a camera on that spot (or did they?)…because I firmly believe that our Latino friends vandalized that sign themselves, and I predicted as much.

Consider, that particular sign was designed purely to INCITE, not educate or promote a rational ideal, or even to whine. Incite it did, but level heads in the community said, “Leave it alone!” and the hotheads did, allegedly until now. “Now” is, however, a time when the sign is getting no notice from the press, the hoopla has passed, and the City Council “dealing with it” hoopla hasn’t started yet, so what to do?

    Fly on the wall:
“That Molotov cocktail we (probably) placed there for photo ops was extremely effective and generated so much hate and publicity against those stupid gringos! It even got them accused of being Nazis and KKK…Hah, hah, hah!!!!! Let’s vandalize it and let the **** hit fan again! Hah, hah, hah…..”

Unless the City did, in fact, put something in place to prove who, in fact, vandalized that sign, or unless someone steps forward and admits to the act, this is as logical a scenario as could possibly exist. I also consider the City Council complicit in the fallout from this if they DID NOT take any action to make sure that, should anything happen to that sign or any violence occur on that property, it could be proven this time WHO did it, that they are at worst complicit in this and at best simply caving in to outside threats and pressure from people who have no business sticking their noses into Manassas business (in other words, a bunch of wimps!).

Should that camera fail to exist, and then the Manassas City Council once again fails to take action against that sign, we (and I don’t just mean the City of Manassas but all of PWC) are ALL in for another round of “poor little victims” and “big bad bullies” at a time when the Resolution is FINALLY beginning to accomplish its purpose…enforcement of the law. Way to go, Council!

Also, I’ll concede all your points about how “you” have personally lived here for 10,000 years, and that all kinds of terrible things were done to “you” personally over the last 500 years, so please spare the sob story, you’ve repeated it in every single post you’ve ever made, and we all know where you stand on that now.

Ahhh, and before I forget, let me give you some advice on your propaganda campaign. When you are pandering to those who already believe in your cause, “native americans”, all that rhetoric about history is an effective tool. When you’re trying to influence those who aren’t friendly to your cause, accusing us of genocide, comparing us to 1940’s Germany, etc… is not an effective tool. That is actually distancing your cause from your target audience. You should be trying to draw us in by comparing the things we have in common, and the things we can accomplish together, not constantly quoting all your grievances. You can pass that along to the rest of those promoting your cause as well. At least then we’ll have a productive dialog before we kick you all out.

After the record number of trashed foreclosures that illegals left vacant which they obtained by getting no document-stated income loans, then obtained identification under another name, and are now out scouting other homes to purchase under the Ameridream, Gemini, & Nehemiah gift loan programs (all of which is costing the banking industry billions), I can understand how the illegal immigration crowd might be upset. That sign must have coast them $28.00 in plywood, and $5.00 in paint.

Why don’t they petition the federal government for a “bail-out” gift. Just make sure they use hispanic agents & lenders to slam them into the deal, then they can squat on the property while never making a payment, instead chosing to pass the cost onto taxpayers.

I can understand why they might be upset.

You guys are splitting some pretty thin moral hairs, here. Whip the tigers into a fury, and then put on a big display of outrage when they attack someone. But that’s the way of demagogues, I suppose. You always go too far, and you end up sabotaging your cause. Three cheers for the inevitable comeuppance.

long time, I’m an American. A pasty white American, if you must know. God only knows how far back my family goes. My point is: this is my country too, and I get as much say as anyone, including you, about what “customs and values” means. And my say is: your idea of “customs and values” is an embarrassing expression of ugly nationalism, a self-righteous display of chauvinistic outrage that I would be happy to purge from the national debate.

So. Since my notion of “customs and values” is just as valid as yours, I’m going to make a suggestion to you that holds just as much weight as your suggestion to “the chickens”: please leave. For your crime of violating my idea of American customs and values, I would like you to please leave this country. May I suggest China? They’re pretty patriotic over there. Lots of flags and military parades. You’d probably love it.

Now, I understand that moving to China is easier said than done. They speak a lot of English over there, but you might want to learn how to ask for the restroom, at least, in Cantonese. Then you’ll have to sell your house, and in this market, that’s going to be tough. But, you know, freedom isn’t free.

Greg is right. No one is above the law and all of us need to reiterate that to EVERYONE. As much as that sign irritates me and that the city council really should enforce their zoning laws, we can not condone this kind of behavior.

INA, in spite of the hypocrisy of the white racism, I have enjoyed reading your posts. I’m sorry if you are offended, but I found some of it so funny. It was my comic relief in the middle of a serious issue. I wondered seriously if it wasn’t Greg writing that stuff to make the people of the sign look even worse.
If your goal is to stay entrenched in your moral superiority as you preach to an unreceptive audience, have at it.

Uhh, Anonymous…there’s around 2000! of them, in that one group. INA, you might want to be careful who your sources are…it’s no wonder you sound like an idiot if you get your information from people like that.

“You have missed the point. Why is it the most viewed thread of the last 30 days on BVBL.”

Easily manipulated…I hope you haven’t got carpel tunnel syndrome yet from clicking that mouse. There’s also software that does the same thing (note that “Connolly” thread). The counter does not necessarily indicate the number of people visiting…only the number of times that the page is clicked. I would really only trust that if Greg came on and told us how many distinct IP addresses were among that number. Considering how you manipulate history, I have no doubt that you are not above manipulating something like that.

    INA:
Your points about Indian heritage have some merit but if we continue to rehash old history; the entire planet has a gripe about everyone and everything. Who hurt who, who owns what, who seized what and the other scourges in history.

We have all come a long way. To continue to harbor anger and blame over things that happened hundreds (or thousands) of years ago by every group, country or people on earth, well, we may as well all start the killing and have the blood bath now.

Condensed time line books on history are full of secular wars, battles, empires, religions and rampages even before the written word on every corner of the earth - many times over.

And for what? Why do we have to rehash this stuff over and over again when none of us we alive when it happened and we have no idea who the hell was fighting for what back then?

That sign (in Manassas) was inflammatory and some folks fell for it. My own personal blood background has been vilified, beaten and my home countries have warred so many times I have no idea who are the old enemies. My own people started wars as well. But I have learned that my past is not my future. This is the present and tomorrow is the future. Holding onto the past means you never come to the future and bitterness remains in the heart.

Not preaching to you and others. It is just the way I deal with it. If you see it differently then so be it. Look at the damn middle east. Peace? Not in another thousand years - it makes no difference who wins or who is in charge - just hatred. The hatred is passed on from generation to generation and so goes the battles and wars. We have progressed past that, and we have found ways to try and correct past wrongs and move forward. Others, and like so many countries in Africa, have not. Hence, the people suffer at the hands of people with vengeance and hate in their hearts. Their countries and people live in turmoil, fear and dispair.

Could things have been done differently? Yes. Were their past wrongs? Yes. Did we somehow come out of all the turmoil in a better place and better position? Again, yes.

That sign has caused division based on historical assumption. It is not today’s world. I guess folks just have to ask: Which world do I want to be a part of today and tomorrow? Or yesterdays?

/\/\3|)iç 64 , you are right. But you have to admit, he/she is entertaining, especially with the “let’s get it on!” comment, following on the heels of “in fact it was created in Europe.”

The great thing is that these games and tricks to steal other people’s land and wealth is all coming to a head–the chickens are coming home to roust.

How about some “roust” chicken for dinner tonight?

Since we’re all so silly, INA, why is it that no one clammoring to get across the border southbound…to get away from all this madness and racism that you speak of? Must be gluttons for punishment, huh? :)

I’m going to Mexico this summer, looking forward to lots of good food and higher alcohol-content dos equis. I’m pretty sure I won’t be tempted to stay, though…..although I hear they have a kick-@#% education system for non-Spanish-speaking children and state-of-the-art healthcare. Oh, and they LOVE immigrants, especially the ones who sneak in from the south.

Red, White and Blue you make some very good points above and I agree. This is not about keeping the violence and grudges going. It is really about waking up to our current actions and choosing new actions. It is about honesty and dialogue!! I will respond but cannot for a couple of days but you are on the right track.

There will be a day that the “white Americans” you speak so shabbily of will finally have had enough and you will be sorry you ever thought you could come here and treat us like you are.
(”you”, meaning what you stand for with your ranting)

There are still a lot of white redneck Americans left. Those of us who fought for the freedoms you enjoy by being here. There is just so much we are going to tolerate before we take this personally.

Be careful, be very careful. If you love your family, and your people, you had better become American, and learn to love the USA, because it just aint gonna work any other way!

INA is so typical–loves America for the freebies, but hates Americans and doesn’t really want to be one. Take a look at the “other” blog–full of ranting women who gang up, nitpick and call you racist if you disagree with anything they say. One of them conceded that she was married to an illegal–that shed a whole new light on where that group is coming from. Would like to see them all head south of the border, where it is all tolerance and acceptance. Sure.

You’re kidding, right? The angry Hispandex are now calling themselves Native Americans? I’m descended from American Indians and I’m insulted.
What a bunch of ignorant douchekateers.

We really don’t need to worry about this anyway. They’ll kill themselves off by infighting, more counties, then states will pass laws, and enforce them, and we will actually get these bozos out of here.

Has anyone watched Gangland on the History Channel?
Especially the MS13 and Latin Kings episodes? The rally photos remind me a lot of these creeps.
