The Rule Of Law Resolution Remains Wildly Popular

Residential overcrowding is down dramatically over last year. Year-over-year residential property sales in Prince William County increased 65% in March. Gang activity has decreased in recent months. Hospitals are less overcrowded, and demand for uncompensated care has been dramatically reduced. Fewer parked vehicles are being hit by unlicensed drivers who then flee the scene of the accident, and the burden taxpayers bear to educate students who do not speak English has been reduced by several million dollars. Not a single credible claim of racially-biased policing has been made, and the only lawsuit filed in opposition to the policy was dismissed in a pre-trial motion only a couple of weeks after it was filed. In the wake of all this evidence, there’s little surprise that 78% of readers believe that the Rule of Law Resolution is working.
While 13% of respondents believe that the effects of the resolution are counterproductive, another eight percent think the Rule of Law Resolution hasn’t gone far enough, and would appear to advocate for additional measures to discourage the unlawful presence of illegal aliens in our community. The consensus here, which is somewhat of a rarity for a matter of public policy is absolutely overwhelming. Try finding this level of agreement in the electorate on tax rates, land use policy, school boundaries, or anything else that matters, and that search will be utterly futile.
Although there are some who maintain that there’s widespread support for rescinding the Rule of Law Resolution, there’s no evidence whatsoever to support that argument. There’s a curious consistency from those who decry any effort to address the illegal alien problem as inherently racist or, intolerant, or apply other derogatory labels to the motivations or character of anyone they disagree with as a significant element of their arguments. They rarely ever seem to be able to actually provide any evidence which supports their claims. Perhaps because of their supposed moral superiority, we’re just supposed to take their unsubstantiated arguments at face value.
The facts on the ground show that the Rule of Law Resolution is working, and the personal experience of the electorate as expressed in this poll seems to back this up. It should then be pretty obvious to our elected officials that the voters expect them to follow through on the commitments they made to implement this program.

Absolutely Greg….and while some would contend, “Of course that’s what a BVBL poll would show…” there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that if there were a valid…and by valid, I mean not slanted to generate a particular response poll conducted county-wide, the results would be similar.
Is it expensive to maintain the illegal aliens?? Of course it is, but even more important than that, we don’t need, we don’t want, and we won’t tolerate ANYONE coming into our country illegally, against federal law, “demanding their rights,” or “demanding ANYTHING for that matter.
Our culture and our background are of courtesy…we ask…and when in response, we receive kindness or help, we are thankful…not complaining as to why not more!
Greg, although only a few of us (PWC and a few others) have taken action, we’re winning and despite Hilda Barg and Frank Principi, we must not stop. Eventually, the federal government will see what we’re doing and realize that they MUST do what the American people want and in fact insist upon. Then, they will take notice and respond to stop the cancer that is attempting to overtake our country.
Agreed, Freedom! To see what happens to our freedom when government-run institutions ignore the people, and have an agenda which is aided & abetted by the media, I highly recommend Ben Stein’s new movie - “Expelled”. Humorous yet sobering (unless you’re an atheist). http://www.expelledthemovie.com/
Resolution is not responsible for arrests
In an April 11 letter to the editor, David Lee attributes the arrest of 41 undocumented residents to the Prince William County resolution. This couldn’t be further from the truth. In just about all cases, their undocumented status was determined AFTER they were arrested for some other crime … which they would have been arrested for in the first place.
If a police officer arrests an undocumented resident who has committed a crime, then the officer arrests the person, irrespective of citizen status.
If a police officer arrests an undocumented resident who has not committed another crime, then the officer runs the risk of a racial profiling lawsuit — a lose-lose situation. The county would be far better off if the resolution was rescinded, the Police allowed to do their work and the rest of the county attempted to undo all the social and economic damage that has been done.
The Stewart and Letiecq clan are working overtime to present information that is at best inaccurate in support of the resolution. And David’s letter is a perfect example.

FYI
- In tomorrow’s WaPo is another hatchet job on
Corey. “Some supervisors said Stewart’s
unwiilingness to fully finance a program he advocated
is duplicitous”. Etc. etc. —
- A nice WaPo article (surprise!) about MPCS Supt.
Tom DeBolt (headlined -”Little School System That
Could”) - he has apparently done a really fine job.
- Reread the original WaPo article about ESOL
programs in Manassas City. No wonder the Feds
are upset, the piece said MCPS spends less per
pupil than surrounding jurisdictions, but test show,
MCPS gets better results. Good work with less
taxpayer money — DOJ and the Dept. of Ed.
want that killed PDQ.
And more evidence that it’s working…
‘MAKING MATTERS WORSE, Centreville’s day laborers must now compete for work with immigrants from another county. Once Prince William County began cracking down on illegal immigrants, said Denis, “A lot more people from Manassas came here to look for jobs.”‘

A little confused…
What poll is this? Is it a poll of BVBL readers?
“This couldn’t be further from the truth. In just about all cases, their undocumented status was determined AFTER they were arrested for some other crime … which they would have been arrested for in the first place.”
Does he think that the police would actually know for sure if they were “undocumented” (aka ILLEGAL ALIENS) without having gone through the procedures to make that determination?
And, pardon me if I’m incorrect, but aren’t those procedures put in place as a result of the resolution?
MP Resident:
Yes, those procedures were put in place as a result of the resolution. Kevin Raymond is a liar.
