Hillary Clinton: Pathological Liar, or Completely Insane?

By Greg L | 5 May 2008 | National Politics | 31 Comments

A Huffington Post article by Ellen Ladowsky offers two potential explanations for Hillary Clinton’s bizarre statements about being pinned down by sniper fire in Bosnia in 1995:  She is either a pathological liar, or she is mentally ill.  I’m not quite sure these are mutually exclusive, but at least it’s an effort to explain what happened.

There are two possibilities: Hillary may be a pathological liar. Or, more persuasive to me, Hillary believed what she was saying and her description of her Bosnia trip was a true representation of her psychic reality and not external reality. In her internal world, Hillary may feel as though she’s always being shot at by sniper fire and that she’s heroically managed to stay alive.

This theory makes sense of Hillary’s recklessness. It didn’t feel reckless to Hillary to repeat this lie over and over again, and she paid no heed to those who contradicted her, because in her mind, she was telling the truth. Only when confronted with undeniable evidence of external reality — actual footage from her Bosnia trip - did she admit (possibly to herself as well as the public) that her version of events was not true.

Now if only someone can offer some reasonable explanation of the behavior of Barack Obama.  He is alternatively comfortable with or running away from conspiracy theories about the AIDS epidemic as a government effort to engage in the genocide of African-Americans. One day he says that bitter rural voters “cling” to guns and faith, and the next he says faith is an important guide to many people, as if anyone could have possibly misinterpreted his clear disdain for middle America.  One day he claims he’s a patriotic American, and the next he refuses to put his hand over his heart when the National Anthem is played.  Should we get a similarly plausible explanation of Obama’s behavior, perhaps we can start forming some sort of theory to explain the Democratic Party as a whole, which seems to engage in this practice of duplicity with alarming regularity.

Even though we don’t have that explanation yet, I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict the finding will be something we’ve known for quite some time: that liberalism is simply a mental disorder.

I think too much is being made of this hand over heart thing. I’ve been to plenty of functions where flags were posted and the anthem was played and many people did not know the proper protocol. Watch MLB or NFL, most of the players are, at best, standing at some form of attention. Others keep grab-assing.

There are plenty of substantive issues to after Barak HUSSEIN Obaba with. A lapse of proper decorum to the flag is forgiveable.

There is a third option, namely that she thinks the American people are simply so stupid/gullible that they will believe anything she says, whether it is true or not is irrelevant as long as it makes her look good. If they believe it, great, if they don’t believe it or challenge her truthfulness she simply says she was mistaken and moves on as if nothing happened.

I mean Bill got away with it, so why not her?

In Obama’s case he is simply showing that he is an amateur. He was never seriously challenged in his state senate or US Senate races and never had to face these kinds of questions. The face that Wright is a publicity hound and hanging on Superman’s cape doesn’t help.

I agree, Lefty, but then, there’s also the “no flag lapel pin.” The lapse of proper decorum is forgiveable, as you say….and the flag on the lapel should not be viewed as “a uniform requirement,” not at all. However, the decorum issue, in combination with refusal to wear the flag lapel pin do give some rise for concern, wouldn’t you think? …but then, that’s just a start…:(

…and that’s REALLY the scarey part, Ted…that enough American people are either so gullible as to accept what she says without question or on the other hand, are just so guilt-ravaged for being white that they could never endure the political incorrectness of voting for a while male.

Well, I don’t know if I am qualified to make the distinction. For that matter, I wonder how refined that distinction actually is.

I cried “pathological liar” several weeks ago.

That’s forgivable for the average citizen. However, it is not so forgivable for someone seeking the office of President of the USA. For cryin out loud, even those that meet the Queen of England prepare by studying protocol.

A bit harsh, don’t you agree, that Hillary is being called a pathological liar
here? Sure, she got carried away with her tale of her trip to Bosnia, but
at least she put in an appearance there in that war torn hell hole. Who
can imagine what was going on in her thoughts when her plane landed
there, after being warned by officials of the hazards she would likely be
facing once she was off the plane!
Empty suit Obama….please stop trying to defend his unpatriotic behavior
as there is absolutely no excuse for his refusing to honor and respect our
American flag and The Star Spangled Banner. The fact that he has been
in attendance at Rev Wright’s hate filled vomit for many years is enough
to provide evidence of his lack of respect for our country. I question the
character of any one who would allow his two little girls to listen to the
hate mongering (i.e. “God Damn America”) coming from Wright’s evil
mouth. Oh, sure Obama has finally “distanced” himself from Wright…but
    it’s too little, too late.
If Obama wins the nomination, I personally will hold my nose and vote
for McCaine. Obama in the White House??? How stupid can the American
    voting public be?

The hand over the heart during the National Anthem is a fairly new thing. When I was growing up it was never done except by people in uniform. And whether someone does it or not is no test of patriotism. Some folks do, some don’t. I was always taught to stand with my hands at my sides.

Who cares about a lapel pin. Good grief. Those things are made in China anyway.

So it looks like a lot of people here will have no one to vote for. I was so surprised to hear how much the people here hated poor old John McCain.

So will people write in a candidate or what?

The Bosnia thing has no bearing whatsoever on her ability or non-ability as president. It’s a bagatelle that’s been totally overblown.

McCain has actually started a SPANISH web site. Yes. Not a web site that merely caters to Latinos and solicits their votes - but one in SPANISH. If you vote for that clown, IMO, it’s the worst thing you can do for America.

Boy, McCain really “got the message”, didn’t he. Trust him as far as you can spit?

I’m not sure whether I’ll vote for Obama or not, but I guarantee you that at this point I won’t vote for McCain. This is the last straw. Please never forget that McCain more than anyone fought like hell for amnesty and fought like hell to falsely define terms in that debate. He did everything he could to provide massive amnesty and foist it down people’s throats, with complete intellectual dishonesty. Um, I question McCain’s judgement.

If Obama were the anti-American trojan horse some people are making him out to be, rather than the ineffectual fake poliitical tool he really is, he’d still be a better choice for America than Juan McCain.

Chapter and Verse re the flag thing:

TITLE 36–PATRIOTIC AND NATIONAL OBSERVANCES, CEREMONIES, AND ORGANIZATIONS
SUBTITLE I–PATRIOTIC AND NATIONAL OBSERVANCES AND CEREMONIES
    PART A–OBSERVANCES AND CEREMONIES
CHAPTER 3–NATIONAL ANTHEM, MOTTO, FLORAL EMBLEM, AND MARCH
    Section 301–National Anthem
    Sec. 301. National anthem

    (a) Designation.–The composition consisting of the words and music
known as the Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem.
    (b) Conduct During Playing.–During a rendition of the national
    anthem–
    (1) when the flag is displayed–
    (A) all present except those in uniform should stand at
    attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart;
    (B) men not in uniform should remove their headdress with
their right hand and hold the headdress at the left shoulder,
the hand being over the heart; and
    (C) individuals in uniform should give the military salute
at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until
    the last note; and

    (2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face
toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag
    were displayed.

I find it interesting that women in uniform do not remove their “headdress.”

I still would forgive Barak HUSSEIN Obama for this indiscretion. It’s not like he lifted is fist and looked down like some athletes years ago at the Mexican summer Olympics.

I dunno, Marceline. Dolph doesn’t see a lot of clarity in Title 8 of the US Code. No reason why Title 36 should be any different.

Maybe it’ll be interpreted as, “all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart, except if you’re just here to work hard at jobs real Americans won’t do at slave wages, in which case you’re entitled to break any law you feel you would like to break and we’ll even give you a lawyer from the ACLU and a support group of your choosing, as long as it’s supported by George Soros.” And we’ll label anyone who disagrees a racist, or nativist, or some other name we’ll make up at some future time.

Code Schmode. Much of behavior during the playing of the National Anthem has to do with custom, tradition and where and when you grew up. I somehow escaped reading the code.

I suppose all those old WWII vets that I saw as a kid were just not patriotic. No sirreeee Bob!

As long as people are respectful, I don’t care what they do. Hold up a fist, I will hate you. Stand quietly with hands at your side (like many Americans do), fine by me.
