Why is the crack down on criminal illegal immigration any different from any other crackdown on any other crime? We have come down on speeding, drugs, rape, child abuse, spousal abuse, just about every crime. So why is it different – or wrong – when an illegal immigrant commits yet another crime on top of their first one?
Does one crime cancel out the other? I don’t think so. Are you not in shock that our elected officials are encouraging and paying for those who break our laws? Telling people to ignore the laws and that it is someone else’s problem is wrong, just plain wrong.
The few, who step up and try to do something, are called racist, never giving any credence to what they are trying to accomplish. Sheriff “Chuck” Jenkins, Commissioners Charles Jenkins and John L. “Lennie” Thompson, Del. Rick Weldon and Sen. David Brinkley are just a few who are trying. We, the normal average citizens, need to help them by letting every elected official know where we stand. Don’t just talk among ourselves, let those who can do something, know how you feel.
Illegally immigrating into this country and then – on top of that – committing yet another crime against our country and its people, we are told, by the likes of CASA de Maryland and the Frederick Chapter of National Association for The Advancement of Colored People, to ignore it, that we are being racist.
We are told these criminal illegal immigrants are good people with families, and that we are scaring their children. Top it off by being told we are actually the ones at fault for tearing apart families and causing them to live in fear.
I love this one, it’s our fault that others commit crimes, get caught, forcing them to leave their families. All this is our fault. Fear mongers don’t affect me, and I hope others won’t buy into it either.
Whatever happened to accountability for your actions? Speaking of being accountable, when is CASA going to be held accountable for using taxpayers money to help those coming into this country illegally and continuing to break more laws? That was your money that provided the funds for that press conference on Tuesday.
Every citizen should be knocking down the doors of every legislator in this state and telling them to cut off funds to CASA. CASA’s own pamphlets are nothing more than a how-to for illegal immigrants.
Is anyone hearing what I’m saying? It’s your money funding CASA. CASA is using your money to support, encourage and endorse illegal behavior; and they are brazen enough to come out and chastise our county sheriff and his department. Now that is bold.
Keep in mind all the money these politicians are throwing around to enable, support and encourage this crime is yours – your hard earned tax dollars. I know I’m repeating myself, but it needs repeating. Our elected officials would rather spend our money protecting and supporting those breaking our laws. Cut off the funds to CASA.
Fear isn’t instilled in children by our police. It’s instilled by those in charge of those children, teaching them to hide, ignore and distrust the police.
Doesn’t every crime affect children?
If you take, buy or sell drugs, if you speed down the road in a drunken stupor, aren’t you affecting everyone you love, affecting their health and safety with your own reckless behavior? Is it the Sheriff Department’s fault when they haul off Mommy or Daddy because they are breaking the law?
Those wanting illegal immigration ignored will tell you that the children are afraid of the police. I ask why. What have the parents taught those children? What is CASA telling those children?
Not only do you break our laws, you expect us to support you while you’re doing it. Now, this is sheer madness. Yet when those of us who expect accountability dare to say – or do something about it – we are called racist, bigots and inhumane. Once again, fear mongering at it’s finest.
If I spent my efforts getting drugs dealers, rapist, and abusers off the streets, what would I be called? A hero?
What if those same people were illegal immigrants to boot? Then what would I be called? A racist?
Add one crime on top of another, and then it’s okay and we should look the other way and protect them. Now that is where it becomes crazy.
Those who want to protect or ignore illegal immigration should also be willing to sponsor and support those they so sorely want to protect. Stop putting our money where their mouths are. Use your own money to do it legally.
It costs money to fight crime. So, I ask CASA what their point is, and where the $3.2 million price tag came from. CASA is already endorsed and supported by our governor and the State of Maryland.
I have more faith in our sheriff and his department. I have no faith in our governor and the direction he is taking us. You do not give our tax money to organizations that openly support criminal acts. CASA and the NAACP are doing nothing more than instilling fear. CASA would not exist if it wasn’t for illegal behavior.
The other way of looking at this is that all the liberal, “enlightened” souls, who seem to think it’s so wrong of us to protect our country and expect accountability from anyone, are also the ones who offer no solutions. They talk and talk, and do some more talking; but, when it comes to solutions, you’d better look elsewhere because this group is full of blame and fluff and little, if any, substance.
The average law abiding citizen, their family and their children don’t cost me added taxes. The illegal un-law abiding, non-citizen does; and those costs are far exceeding anything they give back.
It’s bad enough to turn your blind eye to one crime, but to compound it and just shut both eyes to crimes on top of crimes and follow the trend of calling accountability inhumane or racist is Insane!
None of this has a bit to do with race, gender, religion or anything else. Do not support fear mongers.
Stop the insanity. Support your sheriff. Tell your governor to knock it off and stop giving our money to CASA. Tell your elected officials to spend our money on us, our children, our seniors, our hungry and our uninsured.
Charity starts at home and it doesn’t belong to those committing crimes against this country and – in particular – Frederick. If you agree, do something. Write a letter. Make a call and show your support.
If you disagree with me, then join CASA. I’m sure they could use you.
Just don’t be complacent.
’til next time…
As I sit here on Mothers Day with no time for anything but studying for finals, I am distracted by extremely loud Hispanic music emanating from goodness knows where. I am in Wellington, and so far the police have not been able to determine the music’s source after walking through the entire neighborhood and beyond. This has been going on for hours; has ANYONE else been affected by this, or aware of a celebration going on in the area?
Must be a new strain of illegal immigrants - THE INVISIBLE ONES HAVE INVADED!!!! Not even the police can find them; loud noises being heard, nada!
They may be over at the Fair Grounds. I’ve been listening to it all day too.
I think many politicians are selling us out to the illegals aliens because they think we will be overrun and they want the future votes. They need to get some backbone before we become a third world country.
Well A Reader, if they’re foolish enough to believe that, they’ll deserve what they get. Have you noticed that in those areas where the Hispanic vote represents a majority, or a swing vote, the names of the elected officials happen to be Hispanic?
Taco Truck Ted,
I agree with everything you wrote and I have often wrote here that many people make incorrect statements but agree with their message. But to keep the ball rolling in the right direction we ned to make correct statements. Coming to this country undocumented (illegally) the first time is not a crime. It is considered a civil offense. Coming here illegally (undocumented) the second time after being depoted is a crime. I only bring this up becuase if our message is to be taken seriously then as a group, people who are against illegal immigration, then we need to make sure that we are making correct and factual statements. It may seem like a minor thing, but believe me, the other side will make a large matter out of our minor mistakes and incorrect statemenst no matter how small they may be.
You”re right Bayberry, but if those men are between the ages of 18 and 25 and fail to register with Selective Service, they are Felons subject to possible fine and imprisonment.
The majority of illegal alien alien men in this age range never registered, yet if our men fail to do so, they would be raked over the coals, held up to public ridicule, and denied numerous benefits.
When I asked why Selective Service is doing nothing about this, I was told funding has been cut.
Then, I asked why they changed their website to INCREASE the fine and prison time if no one was going to do anything, they replied “because it is the law and it is a felony.”
Now, is that not a fine example of Bureaucratic Bull! (not a question).
June_reston, You are also correct but my statement only involved the act of coming here undocumented. It is common knowledge that when illegals come her they often commit crimes such as identity theft and the like. As I said before, if we are making statemenst then they need to be correct. So when we say that illegal immigrants have committed a crime by just coming here undocumented that is not neccisarily correct.
What could anyone be doing at the Fairgrounds today that didn’t involve a canoe? Any music would surely be short-circuited outside.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, grandmothers, aunts and special women in people’s lives. The dolph-ettes all treated me very well today.
Just turned on the TV and the movie ‘Man on Fire’ is on. I was just thinking that this may be what Woodbridge would look like in 20 years if we don’t keep the pressure on the illegals.
Well, I’m going to type this again because I hit the wrong key and my comment disappeared.
To those of you who like to rewrite history and are now engaged in changing the meaning of words, this is for you:
From Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary,
“crime - n … 1. an act or the commission of an act that is forbidden or the omission of a duty that is commanded by public law and that makes the offender liable to punishment by that law”….
In Chief Deane’s own words when asked at a public education session if entering the country illegally is a crime,
“Yes, it is a class II misdemeanor”
From Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary,
“misdemeanor - n … 1. a CRIME (emphasis mine) less serious than a felony.”
Yes a misdemeanor is a crime. Yes, you are assigned a court date to appear before a judge. I know first hand.
Yes, entering in the country illegally is a crime. A crime is a crime is a crime.
Do yourself a favor and go look it up in the dictionary before you start making comments and thus make yourself look stupid. And go talk to Chief Deane. He knows it’s a CRIME to enter the country illegally.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMwCBEUT0Ro&feature=related
Patty, before you call someone stupid, maybe you should check your facts. I will repeat myself, coming here initially is NOT A CRIME when you are undocumented. Under Federal guidelines it is classified as a civil offense. Go read before you come on here and make yourself look stupid. Patty, it is people like you that make it harder to make the appropriate point that we need to secure this country. I don’t give a sh** what the dictionary says or what Chief Deane say, neither represent our federal government. Please do me a favor before you try to represent or speak for the group that is against illegal immigration, DON”T.
I wish the executive branch of our federal government was into the rule of law. If Bush doesn’t like a law he simply claims that it’s unconstitutional, in signing statements for example, and breaks it. I wish corporations were into the rule of law. The financial sector who gave us the savings and loan thing, enron, and now the sub-prime mess see the law as fine to break if you don’t get caught. I even think that ordinary citizens selectively break laws they don’t like when they for example build a shed near a stream in their back yard or drive over the speed limit.
Bay,
Congratulations, you just called Chief Deane stupid. A misdemeanor is a crime. Chief Deane publicly called entering this country illegally a CRIME. So who died and made you the all knowing law enforcement god? So when did you decide that your definitions of crime are better than Webster’s dictionary. Did you make yourself the American English god? Maybe some generous folks on this site will chip in and buy you a dictionary. Seems like you need it. No that’s right. You are probably writing your own dictionary. Did you change the meaning of illegal alien to people who seemed to have lost their way and ended up in a foreign country? Why don’t you go kiss up to Ms. Chavez.
Bay,
I suppose smoking pot is civil offense in your mind and it’s not a crime. Just some people who want to feel better about their lives so they just smoke some weed.
To clarify some of the confusion here, the simple act of being present in the country without authorization is a civil offense, and not criminal. Entering the country without passing through a border inspection station is a criminal misdemeanor. I’m not sure what the classification is for overstaying a visa, entry permit, or similar authorization, but I believe this is likely a civil offense. Entering the country without authorization after a previous deportation is a felony offense. Entering with fraudulent documents, or using some other fraudulent means is a felony as well.
Any scenarios I’ve missed here?
Bay,
The Congressional Research Service (CRS), in an 04/06/06 report entitled “Immigration Enforcement Within the United States,” offered the following:
“The INA [Immigration and Nationality Act] includes both criminal and civil components, providing both for criminal charges (e.g., alien smuggling, which is prosecuted in the federal courts) and for civil violations (e.g., lack of legal status, which may lead to removal through a separate administrative system in the Department of Justice). Being illegally present in the U.S. has always been a civil, not criminal, violation of the INA, and subsequent deportation and associated administrative processes are civil proceedings. For instance, a lawfully admitted nonimmigrant alien may become deportable if his visitor’s visa expires or if his student status changes. Criminal violations of the INA, on the other hand, include felonies and misdemeanors and are prosecuted in federal district courts. These types of violations include the bringing in and harboring of certain undocumented aliens, the illegal entry of aliens, and the reentry of aliens previously excluded or deported.”
Notice the last two lines. Notice where it says illegal entry of aliens.
Remember, Stupid IS as Stupid DOES!
I do not care what anyone says here, if it was not a crime to walk across the border undocumented then the whole illegal alien presence argument would be unnecessary. (IMHO!)
Personally, if I had to choose a side here, I would be with Patty and Charlie Deane. Now I am not an expert anything, but if they were not here ILLEGALLY then they would not be CRIMINALS.
They ARE here ILLEGALLY, so they are CRIMINALS!
Someone here really does seem STUPID. Now who is that?
Is it I?
Bay,
Does that satisfy you or do we need to bow down to your definition?
Patty, I made my point and so did Greg (9:20) and yourself (9:32), all I said is that not all people who are here undocumented are NOT criminals. So I believe you are the stupid one. I never said that ALL people here undocumented are not criminals. My point is that we can’t say that ALL undocumented persons in the country are criminals. Now, how better can I say it. And yes, I do believe Chief Deane is an idiot and needs to be fired. POINT, SET, MATCH
Go back and read what Greg wrote at 9:20. Those are the facts.
Why is it that some folks want to get the last word on EVERYTHING?
Can’t you all find something else to fight over? This is really resembling the kiddie hour.
I agree, however, While I haven’t always agreed with comments or actions by the HSM group, I agree with their attempt to free our City, County, State and Country of illegal aliens. I also believe to do this we need to be accurate in what we say in public forum and make completely correct and factual statements. On the “Mexicans without borders protest ice raid in Richmond” a person named Michael (3:27) echoes my point when he states that we need to cease calling illegals hispanics. It does not present the approprite message and neither does making incorrect statements. This is my point and I did not get on here and call anyone stupid until Patty had to bring up the issue and continue with herself. I am not always right and I can say so, but I am correct on this issue and I feel it is important. If you don’t think MWB and the pro-illegal group won’t take advantage of mistakes then you are sadly mistaken. My intent was not to go after anyone. And Patty, I don’t kiss up to anyone and I don’t even know Ms. Chavez.

Bayberry: Obsessing about whether breaking and entering the US is a crime or not a crime is silly. The point is, the illegal aliens are here illegally and need to return to their country.
I am free to call illegals whatever I want. Worrying about how the illegals perceive messages or interpret comments indicates a lack of conviction on your part. I want them to return home, pronto, and if that offends them, tough.

GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL?
Obviously you can’t read. Too bad!!!
Bay,
You make Nancy Lyall look like a genius. Are you a self appointed lawyer too?
It sounds to me like someone’s mother, or several someones mothers, need to come get their children and give them time out.
Nancy Lyall is someone’s mother. Let’s show her some respect at least for the next hour, until Mother’s Day is over.
I wonder what would some of your mothers would say/think if they saw this little display here this evening of Mother’s Day.
Happy Mother’s Day. Let’s not forget we all have a mother!!
Anonymous 10:28, I nver said I want to ignore it and I clearly said I am against illegal aliens. Show me one time where I said that. Better yet, show me one time I said I supported illegals. I never said it and I never said anything that could ever be taken that way by anyone with half a brain. Patty, never claimed to be a lawyer, just some one who knows how to read and interpret code. I read your last two lines and it clearly says, “PREVIOUSLYS excluded or deported” You made my point for me. Previously meaning someone who applied for a visa and/or citizenship and denied or somone who was PREVIOUSLY deported. Thank you, I knew if it was spelled out for you it would get through you head. I appreciate you finally acknowledging that I was right!
Being a mother, I thank you Anonymous (11 pm).
Me too. I agree with AWCheney. Thanks Anonymous (11 pm)
With regard to the legal semantics being tossed around regarding illegal aliens, allow me to add my two cents:
1. It is a criminal offense to cross the border without documentation.
2. Once here, it is a civil offense to be caught without documentation, HOWEVER, in order for them to exist here, it becomes necessary for them to break the law in numerous ways, such as
•forged documentation, a criminal offense;
•stolen identities, a criminal offense;
•seeking employment without documentation or with illegal documentation, a criminal offense;
•partaking of social welfare benefits, HUD Housing, etc., a criminal offense;
•and the list goes on and on, including multiple combinations of the above.
I submit that few, if any, of those “undocumented” (illegal) aliens are, in fact, NOT committing criminal offenses…ergo, you’re both right (Patty and Bayberry resident).
It’s Mother’s Day and I’m at work…Rant time.
My husband and I recentally moved away from the NOVA area, from what I’ve been reading lately, just in time. I have no clue what I’d do with myself with the movement of the ‘hispanic neighborhoods’ leaving Manassas Park, PWC, etc. and entering my beloved and dearly missed Fairfax County.
I was, and still am to a certian degree, in nice terminology, unhappy with the fact that a majority of the people in the county and/or country now can hardly or not at all even speak a solid sentence in English. I thought this was America. I thought this is where WE speak ENGLISH. Since when did Spanish become the dominant language? Since when was someone allowed a translator at the DMV? If you can’t read the damn signs in English, learn them and the meaning of it. Take it upon yourself to be a better person and conform to the country that you now live in and say you care so much for.
Maybe my husband and I should gather up all of our friends and family and move ‘elsewhere’ since they’re coming here.
AWC & Anonymous1,
You both are quite welcome!
Bay,
Once again you missed the part, “illegal entry of aliens.” You are committing an error by being selective in your reading.
For the record, I didn’t write the article I posted. Just thought it was a well written piece of thought. ted
WHEN: TUESDAY 7:00 P.M.
WHY: TIM KAINE WANTS TO RAISE YOUR TAXES.
WHERE: Prince William County’s Dr. A.J. Ferlazzo Building, 15941 Donald Curtis
Governor Tim Kaine will be there for a Town Hall Meeting on Transportation Funding. He will be proposing regional solutions, i.e. tax increases!
Please attend and tell Tim Kaine that you support Bob Marshall and Keith Fimian’s plan. REDUCE THE NUMBER OF CARS ON THE ROAD.
1. Allow federal government workers to telecommute, and reduce the number of vehicles on the road. Every day commuting could be a federal holiday!
2. Encourage business to use the tax incentives that Federal government has made available by offerring teleworker options to employees.
3. Why work 9-5? Reduce rush hour traffic by offering workers flexible schedules. Why not work 11 to 7?
Telecommuting reduces fuel consumption and our dependency on foreign oil, reduces air pollution from vehicle emmissions, and improves quality of life.
It’s time to stop making OPEC and EXXON MOBIL rich, and to seek solutions that are efficient and work!
SPEAK UP…please!
Greg, thank you for the correct info on crossing the border.
Anybody read the Washington trash wrapper (Post) lately?

This may be of interest to some. Here is what the patron saint of the illegal immigrant, Sen. Ted Kennedy, had to say in 1965 after steering through the immigration reform act. Ted was working just as hard for the legal process in ’65 as he does for the law breakers of today. It would seem he was no better at predicting the future than he was at driving young women over bridges on Chappaquiddick in 1969. Too many representatives are put back into office time and again, regardless of their performance, behavior or overall benefit to the common good for the people they are supposed to represent.
During debate on the Senate floor, Senator Kennedy, speaking of the effects of the act, said, “First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same … Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset … Contrary to the charges in some quarters, [the bill] will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived nations of Africa and Asia … In the final analysis, the ethnic pattern of immigration under the proposed measure is not expected to change as sharply as the critics seem to think … The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs.” (U.S. Senate, Subcommittee on Immigration and Naturalization of the Committee on the Judiciary, Washington, D.C., Feb. 10, 1965. pp. 1-3.) The act’s supporters not only claimed the law would not change America’s ethnic makeup, but that such a change was not desirable. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
Okay, here is a letter to the editor that appeared in this mornings edition of the DC Examiner dated Monday, May 12, 2008. It was written by Angela McIntosh, Frederick:
“Moral relativism has made us cowards, hypocrites
Re: “The delicate dance of the seven evasions,” May 1
Meghan Cox Gurdon makes cogent observations about dishonesty in our society. The evasiveness she speaks of is the result of America’s embrace of moral relativism and political correctness, which has made us hypocrites and moral cowards.
By believing that rejecting absolute truth makes us “progressive,” we fool ourselves. We are only outwardly civil, as Gurdon rightly stated, and pervasive dishonesty has made us so obtuse we hardly recognize error when it’s staring us in the face.
So we participate in our own destruction by electing leaders on the basis of charisma rather than guiding moral principles; letting illegal immigrants set our immigration policies; recognizing alternatives to traditional marriage, which studies have shown children need to thrive; tolerating the free expression of any religion except the one — Christianity — which gave us our freedoms; accepting racism from anybody except whites; and becoming morally outraged at the death of anybody, except innocent babies.”
Angela McIntosh

Any comments on the above? What about you Bay?
Patty @ 3:02
Well put. Are we so worried about being accepted and accepting others that we won’t take a stand?
Anyone here have any issue with the Raptor Identification System used by Prince William County? Anyone try to FOIA the drivers licenses kept within the database with any success?
I’d like to work with anyone that’s working to get this system shut down and return both the money and civil liberties back to the citizens of this county.
Couple interesting articles regarding Rev. Jeremiah Wright:

What’s your beef with the Raptor Id System? From what I understand, it identifies registered sex offenders before being allowed admittance into our schools. How is that a violation of civil liberties or squandering of our county taxes? Those people not only violated a law, they sexually violated a person (or people); in some cases, children. Also, this keeps a database of who was allowed access to the school instead of trying to read cryptic handwriting. I fail to see the problem with this program.
Wine Please,
The database is a major question. Because, if the government collects something, like information, they now have to account for it. Since there is no exclusions that protect the identification documents themselves they can therefore be FOIA’d by anyone. Eventually people will be able to access those records, legally.
The database is protected by a company in Houston, Texas. The audit information about how well that company secures the data cannot be revealed under a legitamite FOIA exemption. So, as a citizen there is no way to assure people that this company hosting your drivers license information has done so in a secure fashion.
The check itself is interesting because even a sexual predator has rights. Assuming they’ve already completed their sentence then the state has declared that that person is either rehabilitated or has at least paid there debt to society. At that point, why should they be put under more scrutiny?
And finally, we as taxpayers should be able to enter a building without having to show our papers. Assuming that the check itself is valid what purpose is served by running the check and then saving the information? Why not just run the check and NOT store the information? Why should the information be collected and stored?
So, what are we really getting for the $300K over a paper log?
Anchor Baby said on 12 May 2008 at 7:46 pm:

We are getting noting but an introduction to the shape of things to come. They get our compliance under the guise of doing something good, protecting us from some fear. Next thing you know your scanning your card everywhere you go with no great public objection in order to “check in” with who knows who. I was unaware that the existing system used in schools was somehow allowing the student body to be put at some great risk. Just how many visitors to schools have attacked students? How about pushing for the judicial system to fully enforce the existing laws? Once again, compromising the population for the actions of a few and surrendering more and more of our freedom under the glass umbrella of government protection.
Another huge criminal alien bust.

Retired University of Northern Iowa professor Rosa Maria de Finlay approached the gate to offer her interpretation services, but she, too, was turned away by an agent. “I think the money we’re spending on all this is incredible. You and I will never know how much it costs. That money could be used for something else other than this crap, this nonsense,” she said.
Why is it that they all start whining about the money being spent on enforcement, but have no issues with throwing it away on thieves, drug dealers, shysters, murderers and the like? It’s never been more true than ever: education is at an all time high….and common sense is at an all time low.
Is there anything those of who survived the storms this weekend can do for those who did not fare so well?
I understand sections of Prince William and Manassas were hit pretty hard.
Greg and/or others, if you have contact information of any local group would you please post to the forum? Thanks

More drivel. I bet that the suicide rate per inmate is less in the ICE detention caseload than in a normal state prison. Jail health care doesn’t differentiate between jails by much.

Notice what School Board member Kaye Kory says at the end of the article. Won’t be the last time she says it.
So Fairfax Co will spend in excess of 77 million on their ESOL program next year? Well, to paraphrase the illegal anti-law enforcment group who complain about the cost of emforcement, I will say to Fairfax Co schools-

It’s a shame that Sheriff Joe has to fight the Mayor of Phoenix and the Governor of Arizona. I guess McCain will be on him as well.

I’m glad that this person was caught.

I’m glad they caught these two. They exemplify the difference between their culture and ours, which is they value themselves, their families and their religion before their country. How much intel was passed to Hezbollah before she was yanked?

One would hope that a Mayor would show more responsibility.
